I am in the process of planning our magical trip and I came across disney quest. We usually stay with the parks and have a blast but this seems like it may be something different and fun to do.

Traveling this time around is just me and my seven year old daughter. We are arriving at the Beach Club on May 2, 2012 and checking out on May 6th!

Is it a lot of fun? Crowded? what is the atmoshpere like, can we eat there etc! Thanks in advance!

Hmmm, a lot depends on what DD likes to do. DQ is really just a giant arcade, but the games are free once your admission is paid (but no tickets and prizes). If she likes playing video games, it could be fun, but if not then it is probably a waste of money. It is a must do on our list, but my kids are a bit older (13/15); youngest was 10 first time. Atmosphere - LOUD! Whazzat? I said LOUD!!! with all the game action.

There are a handful of other attractions inside DQ, the best being the Roller Coaster Simulator. You build a coaster at a terminal, and then line up for a bit until they can strap you into what looks like a NASA gyro ride. They project the coaster you designed onto the screen in front of you, and the simulator rocks and spins to match. Note: do not let DD design a coaster for you. I let DW do this for me once; the cast member at the simulator kind of raised his eyebrows, and said "Sir, you know this will invert you 4 times?" The kids still talk about watching me on that ride...:lmao:

There is also a cartoon drawing area, and a cool simulator of a jungle raft trip. There is also a snack bar inside, but you are at DTD, so you only need walk outside to access several restaurants.

The one thing I would suggest is NOT going on a rainy day. Everyone else who is also trying to get out of the rain will be there on that day.

We went for the first time last year. We had 4 boys in our group ages 6, 9, 10 and 13. They loved it! In fact, the dad's like it a lot too. I had a headache after 5 minutes in the building. If we go back this year, I will skip it. The boys can go without me.

It was a great arcade. The boys didn't need to keep coming back to us to get more money for games. Once they were in the building they could just go where they wanted and play as much as they wanted. That part was really nice.

We were there on a rainy day, and it was pretty crowded. We had been at Typhoon Lagoon when it started storming, and we needed something else to do. I think a lot of people headed over to Disney Quest. I didn't find the lines for most of the regular games too bad, but the ride type of games had really long lines.

I agree with bankr63 in that it's LOUD! :)

It is different from the parks. My DH and I are going to take our niece and nephew 7 and 9 when we go in June. It's not as tiring and they will enjoy it.

We went out last trip which was in July 2010. It was me, DH and my nephew (15). It's 4 or 5 stories of endless entertainment. There are old arcade games. Some old some new. There's bumper cars, skagway rides, coaster simulaters, arcade shooting games, skee ball, basketball hoops, you name it you got it when it comes to an ultimate arcade. :yay:

They do have a small food court area and some baked goods. Agree with the previous poster.. DTD has lots of food choices. We actually have ADR for T-Rex Cafe at 12:30 for the day that we are going to DQ.

If your DD is into arcades then it could be something to look into. I agree, don't go on a rainy day. It may be less crowded during the week since on the weekends, it seems locals visit for a day out.

Hope this helps you to make a decision. Good Luck! :woohoo:

Some of my favorite memories were from DQ. My dad took my brother and I, probably when we were 10 and 12, and we had a blast! It is a really nice way to give one parent a break for a day, if that's how your family rolls. My mom isn't a video game person and our Grandma was with us that trip as well, so it ended up that the two of them took a day to relax and resort hop while we played video games!!!!!

Lots of fun stuff to do. I wouldn't call it JUST arcade games. There are some very interactive things there.

My brother and I also went once with his friend and I think we were 13 and 15, no parents. Awesome day!

Clearly, DQ is more than just arcade games. There are several pretty cool interactive attractions - there's a Pirates of the Caribbean attraction where five or six people at a time "virtually" shoot cannonballs at a ghost ship, an Aladdin flying carpet simulator game, a Jungle Cruise simulator where you paddle on a rubber raft (not in the water), an interactive game in which you're part of a pinball game, an interactive 3D virtual ride in which you fight the evil comic characters, a virtual game in which you're a member of the crew of a space ship attempting to rescue comrades while battling off your enemies, the aforementioned virtual coaster ride - you design the coaster ride then you get to experience riding it, a music attraction in which you create the music and then get to take home a CD of it (for an extra fee), some computer design attractions, and others.

Some of these attractions have height requirements just like in the parks. So it would be worth checking the reqs. at the Disney website against your daughter's height.

Enjoy!

Hmmm..I will have to do some more thinking. She's not a big fan of video games. We do have a wii and the kinnect but she hardly ever plays. The noise may be a bit much for her early in the day..but towards the evening I think she would be fine.

Just trying to come up with some fun stuff to do on our arrival day!
