I've heard mixed reviews about the food/character interaction. Some people on allears.net said character inaction was very rushed and one person that I read said they missed Piglet!

How often do the do the parade?

I have a 4:50 reservation, what time should we be there? Is there a place we should ask to be seated for the best character interaction? Should I get good character interaction since it isn't a peak time?

Anyone have pictures/videos to share?

Thanks!
Amy

We had a great experience there. The food was very good, and character interaction was wonderful. We have some great pictures with Tigger. :goodvibes

It was our favorite buffet character meal of the trip last year. It was actually the only restaurant DS6 requested for our upcoming trip.

This used to be my family's favorite character meal. By family, I mean me, dh, and 2 kids; my parents, my brother and his wife and kids; and my single brother. We loved the place- I mean, we try to eat here at least twice each trip. However, after this past Jan. trip, my parents have vowed to never return. We ate here twice in Jan- once for dinner and once for lunch. Both experiences were less than great. The food was ok- not as good as we had remembered and some of it cold- and my mother got an upset stomach after both times we ate here (never has happened before). The characters, however, were a different story. The first dinner, we were seated and then told to go ahead and get our food b/c the characters were a while away. So, we did- except dh and dd stayed at our table with our stuff and were going when someone got back. Well, as soon as we were out of sight he said, Eeyore came by. Ok, no problem, he asked the handler to bring him back and he said he would- there were 3 tables that were told to get their food and all 3 missed Eeyore. Well, we finished our meal- dessert and all- and still had only seen 2 characters. Pooh is entering our room, so we wait to see him- a good 20 more minutes. During that time, I go ask Eeyore's handler again to please bring him back b/c 3 tables missed him. No problem he said, as soon as Eeyore finished his rounds. Well, we watched from the other side of the restaurant as Eeyore finished his last table and went in for a break. Pooh was still a few tables away, and we had been waiting and waiting, and I was getting ill. So, I went to ask for a character manager (the waitresses try, but can not do anything with the characters really, you have to have their handlers or the handler manager). The manager comes over politely and I explain what had happened and how we missed Eeyore. He offers to meet us in the middle of the restaurant to get our picture with Eeyore- I said that would be great- but he missed 2 other tables also. Basically the guy said that if they didn't complain, it was not his problem. I told the other tables to complain, but I don't think they did. But, Pooh still was not there- so I asked if we could wait on Pooh b/c we hadn't seen him either. Fine he said. Anyway, we did see all 4 characters, but it took asking for a manager and waiting probably 30 minutes total after we had finished eating- we were in that place forever!!!
We decided this may have just been an off day and kept our ADR for lunch later in the week. Our lunch was 5 days later. Unfortunately, it was the very same thing that day. We were on the opposite side of the restaurant and had the same experience- this time it was Piglet we missed- and the tables around us. And, we left b/c we didn't want to sit there after our meal to wait on the other character- so we were there over an hour and saw only 2 characters. The food was ok this time too- not as good as in trips past.
I don't know what has happened to Crystal Palace, but we were very, very disappointed. This used to be the place we looked forward to the most (except the castle breakfast- for the princesses, not the food), but now it could be off our list permanently. Maybe they were just having a bad week, but it was very disorganized and chaotic- unlike any of the other character meals we ate at that week or have eaten at in the past.

We were here this past September. We loved it!! The characters weren't rushed at all. The food was hot and yummy. We celebrated DD's birthday there and she really enjoyed that. She got a card and a cupcake, it was cute.
I'd advise you to arrive about 30 mins prior to your ADR. This place had the longest wait of the whole trip. Once inside the service was wonderful.

Remember to tell your server if you haven't seen a particular character yet, they will do their best to see that you have a visit with all of them.

Have a great time!! Don't forget your autograph book and take lots of pictures!

This is freaking me out. I may just stick with my 5:30 reservation at Chef Mickey's and hope a 5PM opens up.

Anyone have any more positive reviews?

Remember....for any restaurant, you will hear good and bad reviews. Even the coveted Le Cellier has had it's share of plenty of negative reviews.

We've eaten twice at Crystal Palace....once for lunch, and once for dinner. It's my favorite buffet at WDW. Big variety of food, but the best part is the dessert bar. Everything from your standard cookies and ice cream to coconut flan. Very good.

Character interaction was fine; our first time Piglet missed our table but it wasn't a huge deal--it's not if we hadn't already since dozens of characters in the park. The second time all the characters came by in a timely manner.

The little parade thing was cute for the kids. I think it happens maybe every hour? The characters lead the kids around waving their napkins. Nothing I'd stick around for personally unless you will have kids with you.

It does get crowded in Crystal Palace, but no more so than Chef Mickey's.;) . Really, IMO the two meals are very similiar except different characters, and CP has more of a variety for the food.

I have eaten there for all three meals over the years. By far the most fun if you are going for the character interaction is dinner. There is a hitch though. You want one of the last seatings of the evening. If you linger over dinner and are there at the end you get to interact with all the characters at once. We have some great pictures from our trip in 2005 where my kids got some fantastic group pics with pooh, tigger, eyore, and piglet. Otherwise you see them just one at a time. So if you want an earlier time opt for an evening that the park closes early. Unfortunatly once word get out even these times will probably be harder to get.

We have been at the4 8:05 breakfast a few times and the food is awesome, we never felt rushed and we always see the characters. Oct 07 we went at 9:30 and the place was super packed and very loud, did not feel rushed, food was awesome but we never saw any characters and we were there for 45 minutes.

For dinner we have been there many times, from 4:30 to 6:30 times and the food is super, the service great and have seen the characters.

We love this place but do not go because of the characters, we go for the food!

We love it and so did everyone on our grand gathering last November. We are returning there for our third time this year. You will hear good and bad is my experience. The food is good and fresh not stale and leftover if you go right at dinner time. We love the shrimp, salmon, carving station, and salads. There was a huge variety for the kids (4 in tow last trip). Pooh played peek-a-boo with my 18 month old and they each took time with every child. I didnt feel rushed at all. The parade happened two times during our dinner and we saw each character only once but for long enough for 14 people to have their pictures taken and interaction with each one. I am on the picky side and would not return if it was bad.

We have only been to dinner and we really loved it! This time we are going to try breakfast!!!!

Would a 4:30 time be better? Maybe we wouldn't have to wait outside for a half an hour?

We were there for breakfast last June. We were 4 adults and we loved it lol! We got to meet every character and the food was great.

all my kids enjoyed it was very loud but I think all the character meals are. We had a good time. The kids liked the parade and even the baby who was 18 months then liked that. The servers gave him a flag and he waved it from the highchair. I have some great pics if you would like to see them and could post them this evening if you'd like. Overall alot of fun!

We've eaten lunch and dinner 3 times at the Crystal Palace. The food and service have been excellent every time, but character interaction was only good during lunch. During dinner, the characters seemed very rushed. We only met Tigger in the hour we were there last July. I would definitely go again, but only during breakfast and lunch. :)

I've been there for breakfast a number of times (we usually eat at LTT for dinner if we are in the MK because we like the food they serve for dinner time). We have always had a wonderful time. The food has always be great, plenty to choose from. Pooh, Eeyore and Tigger always walk around and for the last few times Piglet stood in the center of the restaurant and people walked up to take pictures.

You should go and judge for yourself. As a previous poster stated you will get both good and bad reviews. It differs from person to person as far as service and character interaction.

Don't worry so much and try to enjoy your trip!!!

we went last April and again in September.......four adults in april and two of us in September......we had a great time and the characters still interact with adults.......I didnt know that pooh was behind me and my husband was getting his camera ready and whammo......pooh hugged me .....same with Piglet...we had a great time and the food was delicious...we are going with a group in six weeks and we are all anxious again.....
Remember that each person has different expectations and may differ even from mine.....we were never rushed once....either in our food eating time or the characters.....

We love eating at the Crystal Palace. The buffet is great. We have eaten there for breakfast and dinner. Never had any problems with being rushed or not seeing characters. The cast members have even asked if we saw all the characters as we were getting ready to leave. Definitely recommend eating here and we will go back again! pooh: :eeyore: :tigger:

Well my book says that the ratio for dinner is 1:98 but hopefully having a 4:30 reservation would lesson that a bit. Thanks everyone will think about it!

We're also trying the CP for the first time. Are there any foods served only at lunch and not dinner or vice versa? Which buffet is better?
