Marathon Weekend 2026

SAFD - I definitely would have like to do one more C2C.

Like @Naomeri, I did the "return to run" January 2024 race and did want to, eventually, go back to have a better race experience. But last year I did Dopey (if they had kept Dopey to Dumbo on back to back weekends, I would have done that). Then this year, I have an already planned week-long family trip to Orlando in November and plans to do Marathon Weekend so a trip to California just wasn't possible - well, not without winning the lottery. I'm not a fan of the heat so I wasn't even slightly tempted to do the Halloween races.

If/when runDisney comes back to California, I could see myself use it as an excuse to go back out to DL.

SAFD: None. Never did a DL runDisney race and probably won’t for the foreseeable future, even if they had races planned next year. We have to bring our kids with us but as DVC members that’s not too much of a problem. But I own in WDW so I doubt I’d be able to get a room there. Factor in airfare from Chicago and it’s expensive. Plus everything I’ve read about Disneyland runDisney races leaves a lot to be desired.

SAFD- I live in Phoenix, about a 5.5 hour drive or hour flight from DL. We did a couple Avengers 10Ks back in the day and I did Dumbo the first year back in 2024. I agree it was logistically a cluster.

I’ve only done one WDW race- Princess 2019. It’s a full day travel and I feel like I need to stay longer to justify it. I’m excited for the Marathon and am taking three days in a row off for the first time since that Princess race (I’m a teacher).

I wasnt planning on doing DL this year. I’d never do Halloween despite it looking amazing. I just can’t train those long runs when it’s 88 at 5AM here and I know how hot it can get in Anaheim in early September. But when they announced its the last one for a while and I was already doing the marathon, I decided to do the half to get the C2C. The Small World theme clinched it. I’m hoping being trained for the marathon is enough to carry me through the half a few weeks later. I’m just flying in Sat morning and home Sun night. I’m getting a one day ticket for Sunday and am looking forward to solo park time. I’ll be back in DL with my daughter for dance in early March. They dance at the stage by Monsters Inc every other year. I’m taking a day off for that trip, so I’m trying to not take too many days. Why? No idea. We get 12 a year. But I hate when they bunch up and I have to take a few for my kids sports each year.

SAFD: We actually liked the first Disneyland races my DW did when they reopened them in 2024. We're sad that they are removing them after the DL Half in late January, but we understand that decision. It was our first time going to DL after numerous trips to WDW, and we have taken to the charm of it. But is this going to affect us? Probably not. We'll just do what we do, and that probably means fewer trips to California in the near future.

SAFD: I’ve wanted to do a Disneyland race for a long time but it’s harder to get there so it never worked out. I hoped when they came back to be able to make it work just once to go for a Coast to Coast, but didn’t expect it to only last 2 years before they got taken away again. :( I’m excited for Marathon Weekend, but if I had known before registration that January would be the last Disneyland races, I might have opted for that weekend instead.

SAFD: No real impact. I would never consider doing the Disneyland races before because none of my family had been to Disnelyland yet and I didn't want my first trip there to be without them (and the times didn't really work to make a family trip out of it). Finally got to go in August 2024 for D23 with one of my DDs so I considered the races as an option at that point but apparently RunDisney had other ideas. I've certainly been tempted by the 5-K and 10-K courses and all the park time but have waited this long to run one there so a few more years won't impact me.

SAFD: I'm glad I got the coast to coast in 2024. It was such a fun experience doing the back to back weekends. I probably wouldn't have done more in DL because I'm also an east coaster and the trip is just too long. I hope to get my kids to DL one day so maybe races will be back by then.

Do we think today could be Medal Monday? I could use a pick me up today.

SAFD: No impact here either. I live a 4-hour drive from WDW and that's the only reason I can swing multiple race weekends in a year. No way I could justify to DH a flight to Cali for a Disney race when we have them so close by here. Also, if I am going to travel far for a race, I'd rather be checking off states in my 50 state quest.

Looks like another no to this Monday being Medal Monday. I’m giving it a couple more weeks and if we’re still not seeing them I’m going to start to wonder if there’s some kind of issue. Wine and Dine got their reveal in mid-July, so about 3 months before the race. Maybe they decided to do similar timing for all races this time which is early October for Marathon Weekend but it’s just especially annoying now since there was the pin leak last weekend. I guess we’ll also see by late October if they are displaying anything at the Wine and Dine expo.

Absolutely zero impact.

I've been to DL once (work thing). Neat parks, but not something that is going to keep drawing me back year after year. I like my bubble in Orlando.

And where are our medals?!?
Considering we’re a month behind the reveal the last four years it might be safe to assume that something is wrong with them

The previews have kind of slipped (the pins), so maybe they're finalizing the route changes in AK (something that sends us out front and down Osceola to WWoS would be lovely) and waiting to send out the map updates along with the medals?

"Hey, we know some of y'all will be really bummed that we got rid of the BB parking lot, but look! Shiny medal!" kind of thing. Keeping my fingers crossed.
