We've been flying SW out of PHL for years but another thread here points out that BWI offers more direct flights at cheaper rates. That along with cheaper park, sleep & fly hotel rates makes the extra hour (each way) drive worth while. I'd appreciate any recomendations as to such hotels and info on how convenient the airport itself is.

Thanks,

We live about 15-20 minutes from BWI airport and it's a VERY easy airport to get into and out of with plenty of nearby parking. There is a garage connected to the airport and a few satellite lots for long term parking that are not far away at all. There are several hotels nearby the airport within a mile or two. I can't recommend hotels as I never use them...but if you are driving your own car we actually prefer to park at any of the FastPark locations that are close to the airport. The shuttles there will pick you up right at your car, write down your parking spot for you on a card so you can remember it later, then drop you off at that spot when you return. Their shuttles are easy to find. I've found it more confusing to use the BWI Long Term parking shuttles because there are several lots of different colors and I invariably have picked the wrong shuttle to go to the parking lot and had to loop back and catch the right one! :)

Hope that helps!

Well, there is a nice wine bar in one of the Southwest wings in BWI.
