Tell me about ALDI'S

We have had an Aldi's in our area for at least 10 years or so. My DH loves the store and goes there ever week to buy his lunches for the week. I go there for my baking staples, cheeses, and things for parties. I love coupons though so I still go to my local store for the specials with coupons.

Morning all-
OP here-thanks for all the great responses to my question-just knew you all would have the info:thumbsup2 -can't wait til it opens, drove by there yesterday and it was still just a concrete shell :sad1: I haven't heard yet of an opening date but it seems to be worth a trip (or 2) once it does
About Trader Joe's I got my info from someone at one of the other stores-they think it would be around the same area as Aldi's so I will wait and hopepixiedust:

our local Aldi is great-always clean and well stocked...I don't like some of their foods due to cheap ingredients-but most of it is fine, and CHEAP! I don't buy their cereal anymore,as it has partially hydrogonated oils, and the canned goods are full of sugar, etc(beans!)
but it is a steady source of good prices, their brand chocolate chips are .99 a bag,so now I can make lots of cookies again! (they taste just fine)

I can I ask exactly where this is opening. There was an article in the Star Ledger this week about grocery stores and they mentioned it, but did not give an address just said Dover. Knowing the area, I fear the store will be a dive.

Not all stores in my town are Dives but I cant picture any open building right now where it would go. Unless up on the corner on Rt 15 where the new plaza is. It looks like there is more store space next to where Aldi's is going.

Trader Joes' is hands down better than Aldi's - but I'm still stopping at Aldi's!!

btw last week they had Ice wine for $7.99!! (a high quality cheap ice wine is $30!! ) It was fine for me!! Its a reminder of Disney - epcots Canada has ice wine!

Jersey Shoppers.. The Rockaway store is opening tomorrow.. July 1st.

Went to the grand opening of the new Aldi's. The store was nice, lets see how it holds up. Got some great deals. Tried some things. I went with a friend who swears by them. She spent $200, I spent under $100 but came home with a cart full.

Milk was $2.99 a gallon that was a great deal. They had chopmeat for $1.99 lb, but it was for the 80% lean. So we passed on that.

For me driving 40 minutes to go food shopping is too long. But once in awhile I will ride with my girlfriend when she goes to keep her company.
