How have you guys done on Christmas cruises worth it? How was the experience?

Personally, a Christmas themed cruise is the only themed cruise I'd do. We've done a couple of them and enjoyed them.

tell me about the experience! I’m on the edge to book!

Star Wars day at sea was so lame…I’ll be honest they took nice pics I have to wait for my book to ship!652303

Well, I cruise for the cruise experience. Christmas is my favorite season, so a touch of Christmas on a cruise is fine. But I'm not enamored of a cruise that's overtaken by themeing.

On our cruise we had a Christmas tree lighting

As well as other elements - storytime with Mrs Claus was one. We had a big gingerbread house, gingerbread house making activity.

Here's another shot of the atrium

And a collage I put together

We have done a couple of Christmas cruises, with another booked for this year! I think the theming is nice and I love the gingerbread house they put up. You can smell it coming in to the atrium! Castaway Cay is decorated and they have little touches every where. Honestly, we have done a Star Wars cruise (pre-pandemic) and I wasn't that enthralled with it either. I agree with Shmoo, that if the theme overtakes the cruise, it just isn't my cup of tea. I would say the Christmas theme is tastefully done and you can still feel like you are on a Caribbean cruise.

We've done 5 Merrytime Cruises and they are truly wonderful. As said above, the decorations are tastefully done and fit in with the general high class decor of the vessels.

We have done both Merrytime and Halloween on the High Seas cruises. We truly love them both. There are so many beautiful decorations. On the HOTHS cruises the characters are in costumes and for the Merrytime they are wearing holiday outfits. There are a lot of themed activities as well.

We haven't done any Star Wars or Marvel cruises.

Thanks everyone booking for this year but Star Wars was such a lame theme I don’t mind a good theme but I don’t like a half baked theme either it felt so thrown together not very Disney in terms of entertainment

Very Merrytime is SO much fun...lots of activities from making ornaments to decorating gingerbread cookies. Tree lighting ceremony in the atrium with the characters and Christmas carols, Winter Wonderland Ball with Santa, Mrs Claus and snow in the atrium. The ship is beautifully decorated with a huge tree and gingerbread house. Characters are decked out in their holiday finest. Families getting their photos taken in ugly Christmas sweaters and/or Christmas pajamas. It's a week long celebration!

Also you can order special holiday decorations that will be in your room when you arrive - and also a special Christmas blanket and pillow to take home.

If you can, spend a day at WDW for Mickey's Very Merry Christmas Party and another day at Epcot for the Candlelight Processional. The parks are also wonderfully decorated for Christmas. (This was pre=COVID but hopefully things will be better this year!)

I have a few more cruises until we’re platinum so I’m going to maybe do a 5 days disney cruise for Christmas but I’m not getting a formal night decisions decisions…

also your placeholder is so easy to book now!

Loved our Very Merrytime cruise. We were very lucky and we were selected to light the tree.

While I will say a Merrytime cruise is better than a "regular" one, I do wish they would change the dang music loop to holiday-oriented in the passageways.

I would think the holiday music would be a sure bet thing the whole time!

Yeah, sometimes I don't think the boats "get it" about music likes the parks do. We used to spend every Christmas at the Poly when the kids were young. Upon arrival, I would hear "Numbah One Day of Christmas" or " Kani Kani Pele" or " E Aloha 'E " and YOU JUST KNEW that NOW it was Christmastime. I don't feel anything like that when I board.

They do. Or at least they did the one time I did one. It wasn't 100% Christmas but they were definitely mixed in.

We went on a merrytine double dip to castaway in December I enjoyed the Christmas decorations on the ship.

Silly question but for those who did the cruise is it like Star Wars day at sea where one day is the real themed day with different photo backdrops and characters or the whole cruise is Christmas photos and backdrops?

They have both Christmas and non Christmas backdrops, but the characters are all in Christmas outfits (except the princesses.)

Thanks @holula! Is this one day or throughout the crusie? Star Wars day was legit one day only.

I’m assuming on Halloween / Christmas there is still a formal night and pirate night
