Telephoto zoom suggestions

Looking at the Tamron AF 70-300mm f/4.0-5.6 and Nikon equivalent. Tamaron on sale for $349. Nikon is mid 500 's or refurb from b&h for $350. Would use on d70000. Ay suggestions or opinions?
