my 16DS is refusing to go to school and all the shouting and fighting is not getting us any where
Do not know what to do with him
other wish he is the nicest and most helpful boy never give us any problems he just dose not like school from day one at playschool
says that there is no problems no bulling or anything like that ,just dose not like school

Oh dear. Have you tried bribing him? Things like if he goes to school for a week he gets something small that he wants, a whole month there and a bigger treat and then after 3 months something really big.

Jackie mine are to little to have any direct experience I wonder does the school have any link with colleges so that DS could go to there. I've heard in some areas that colleges have found that kids that do not like school have excelled in a different environment.

Thats a good idea of Reid's, children from the age of 14 can go to college and do courses like mechanics, health and social care etc.

Does he have a part time job anywhere? If he doesnt maybe you could arrange a really boring one like one shelf stacking or something he doesnt like and tell him that if he doesnt go to school then he can work there full time!

Yes he works in the local garage giving out petrol and we have our own pub which he dose not like working in at all
we have tried the bribing
think we are just going to leave him till after the christmas holidays and see what happens after that ,
just so feed up with all the fighting and shouting
just had to get it off my chest

we had similar problems for years with dd (now 18). There seemed to be no specific reason that she could identify and eventually she was taken out of school and started at the local college. It was still hard and her attendance wasn't always fantastic but she has done well even though she suffered other problems, and even managed to go abck and do her GCSEs in the summer. She's now studying for her Alevels (again, at college) and is going from strength to strength .......so don't give up! Do try talking to the school and/or the EWO as they can suggest alternatives if the problem is very bad.
