What the heck?! Today went shopping with my 14 year old. She wants a bikini. We spent 4 hours at the mall and couldn't find a single one. Well she found one she liked but it didn't cover the important parts imho.

So where do you find decent bikinis? She spent the most time at Pac Sun and those all were no way. We tried Holister and Abercrombie but they had the exact same suits as last year? What the heck?

Dd15 just wears the skimpy bikinis, but the rule is the bottom has to cover her butt. She's 5'4", 120, and I think she wears either large or extra large junior bottoms! :lmao:

DD got hers this year at Old Navy and Victoria's Secret. VS was a bit pricey, but it's really cute. She got two at Old Navy for the price of one at VS!

All of DD15's bikinis have come from Wal-Mart and Target. Mix and match sizes. She can get the top that covers the girls and a bottom that covers Oklahoma aka her butt.

She thinks she needs a new one this year, but she doesn't. She got 4 of them last year and they all still fit and look good.

There were some cute ones at Macy's when I bought my (old lady style) new swimsuit. Some teens there modeling for each other and their moms - they even had the bottoms as shorts with the full-coverage top that ties behind the neck. The girls I saw were really loving those because they had so many different patterns.

HTH :goodvibes

DD got a very cute one at Aeropostale. My only rule was no bottom that tied at the sides (fake tie is fine).

Yes the behind is the issue- these are all practically thongish!

We tried a bad Macy's I'll try the better one this weekend. And didn't even think of Victoria secret! That's in the better mall too. Looks like another day of hell for me.

Victoria's Secret, Aeropostale, and American Eage.

The girls tried some on at Abercrombie and Hollister and I almost passed out.
I'm not an "old fogey" but the bottoms on those suits - OMG!!!!

This is now an on going battle in my house. I had dd try on what I thought was a really cute two piece/flirty skirted bathing suit at Old Navy. Of course she hated it.

DD is having an 8th grade graduation party this year. We have an inground pool and I keep telling her that I will have to approve the suit she'll be wearing with all those graduating 8th grade boys there. Can you say cover-up!

Good luck - bathing suit shopping with a teenage girl is even worse than bathing suit shopping for myself - and I never thought anything could be worse than that!

Okay, there has to be a story here... Why do you refer to her butt as Oklahoma?

I referred to my butt/nether regions as "Mexico" and my chest as "Canada". I told my then boyfriend, now husband, that he needed a passport in the form of a marriage license to visit either. Until then, he was stuck staying in the USA (area between the two).:lmao:

I would like to know the Oklahoma story, as well.

I like the two pieces at Target. But it has been a few years since I got one there.

Try a surf/skate shop. They usually have stuff that's less stringy and more sporty.

We usually get DD15's at Target, this year we got her one from Wet Seal. Good coverage. My girls also wear cover up dresses.

Before Spring Break we found a cute bikini at Kohls. It either shrunk or she got just big enough now where I don't like the coverage (top).

Land's End and LL Bean have nice suits.

I tried those and was told- "those are for old ladies not teens"
:confused3 I guess these are the horrid teen years that I always heard about- but never had with my DS-

 When I suggested Land's End to my dd she said "don't you get your suits from them?" with the tone.

Lol, my mom was (and still is) a walking advertisement for Lands End and LLBean, and begged me to get my clothes there when I was growing up - no way, old lady clothes (of course, I wear their suits now...). None of my girls will wear anything from them. It's too bad, because before the strike, I found that Lands End kids suits held up so well!
