technical problems with iphone4 SHOCKING!

I've used my AT&T phone in Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and all over the United States.

I have virtually no trouble with AT&T service and I live in a small town between Disney and the ocean.

It sounds to me like you have a couple of options.

You can move to the east or west coast. Think of the perks....better cell service and closer to Disney.

Or.....

You can pick the best cell provider for your area and live with it.

Your dilemma isnt limited to cell phones. I love live theater....specifically Broadway shows. Unless I'm willing to go see a road company (which I do), then I have to fly to NYC or LA.

I can stamp my feet and complain but it doesnt change the fact that if I want Broadway caliber theater....I need to go where it's available.

Way to perpetuate the stereotype Kevin! Geesh! :rotfl2:

When will everyone wise up, drop the paperweights and get on the Android train? It doesn't matter how great you think your phone is if the service (AT&T) sucks, so does the phone. Verizon will always be the provider to try and beat.
I really wish the podcast crew would ditch their Apple junk and finally put out the Eticket app for the service that most of the listeners use.
Bitter, party of one, your table is ready.

I own it!:thumbsup2

Atta boy, happy pride! :thumbsup2

BTW, I live in the "flyover" state of Illinois and get great AT&T service. Had Verizon which I had to dump as soon as my contract was up because I couldn't get service in my own house (in the backwoods little berg of Chicago). Love my iPhone and have no problem with AT&T.

I just want to toss in a little tidbit. A lot of people that think they get great AT&T coverage really are not getting it. AT&T works fine around me if I just use the phone. I however would get no 3G coverage within 50 miles of my house. Sure my iPhone would "work" but I choose not to pay for a service that I'm not getting.

OP, get yourself whatever phone you like and quit worrying about what kind of phone Kevin uses. That's my advice.

Also, please stop with the Kool-Aid references. It is so unoriginal. When I hear people talking about Kool-Aid, I immediately think that they were too dumb to come up with their own insult. If you must name-call, be more original.

At least use something we hear less often..."poopie-head", "pee-pee hair" and "dummy, dummy, suck your thumbie" come to mind. You'd really sound smarter using those. ::yes::

Disneybride calling you "bitter" was better than Kool-Aid. Just about any name-calling will be better than Kool-Aid.

Just say No to Kool-Aid.

Or you could just skip the name-calling. :rolleyes1

Buy what works best for and that which you can comfortably afford.

Cell phones are appliances. They are not (or at least shouldn't be) status symbols.

YAY! for my pre-paid $99 per year Tracphone. It does what a phone can do. (and that is about it!)

It's a freaking phone, who cares, can't we all just get along?

Now, Kevin liking a Nissan....that's just crazy....:rolleyes1

Call me....we'll do lunch.

Nissan, crazy? Not at all.
My first three cars were Nissan Sentras. Well, the first was a Datsun 210, same thing.

Lunch sounds good!

Sounds like the beef is with AT&T, not Apple or the iPhone.

Hmm. Might be better to direct your anger toward the right place.

One thing I find interesting is that Verizon was first offered the iPhone...but they didn't care for Apple's provisions (the app store remaining property of Apple, not Verizon and so on) so they passed. They thought so much of themselves they passed on a great phone.

Oh well. I switched from Verizon for the iPhone along with several of my very best friends. None of us have regretted it. It works for us, so we're happy with it. I fully understand what works for me may not work for you...but I'm not going to sit here and attack your preferences or try to force my opinions on you when I'm perfectly happy with what I have.

Hope your day gets better...seems like it must have been a pretty bad one.

popcorn::

I'm a Verizon guy (for now), and I can't wait to throw my Blackberry against the wall and count how many pieces I've made.

I can either upgrade my Verizon phone in 2 months and re-up for 2 years, or wait until December and open the free agency period.

AT&T makes me nervous as a New Yorker. My Family-in-law all have iPhones, and my Mother-in-law's house is a total AT&T dead zone.

The "kinks" of the iPhone 4 are interesting to watch. May be worth waiting for the 2011 iPhone with its Sony camera.

I'm also watching the Droid X for Verizon with fascination.

And, Kevin, yes, your phone should not be a status symbol. Nor should it be a coolness symbol. However, I cannot understand how the release of the iPad is anything but a new drug to throw at the Apple junkies.

What do we think: will my Blackberry Curve bounce or shatter?

Whoa...hey now...be careful about those Nissan comments, buddy...I drive a Nissan...;)

Like it or not, Apple and AT&T are businesses, and if they want to partner and it is in their business interest, that's their choice, not yours. Verizon has plenty of cool phones...get one of them. Or get an iPod Touch.
Wow, lots of replies here, awesome... Now that everyone is reading this thread, let me explain my EXTREME distaste with AT&T so you can see it from my little world.
The reason I would like everyone to grab their Iphones and toss them in the East River goes like this.
Since the break up of Ma Bell, the two leaders in cellular service, AT&T and Verizon have been concentrating on different areas. AT&T is like the federal government in that they concentrate solely on East Coast and West Coast and screw the "fly-over states" in between. They figure that everyone in between will just deal with the slim pickens that are handed to them as long as every New Yorker and Californian owns an IPHONE, they succeed. (for the purpose of this story, New York extends from Miami to Maine, thanks)
Verizon has been concentrating on it's network from coast to coast. Building more and more towers to compete with other providers, Verizon has successfully created the most dependable service for the "whole country". From Akron west to Salt Lake City and from Houston north to Minneapolis, Verizon covers 70% more area with 3G service.
Sure there are dropped calls anywhere you live, with any service provider, there are way too many geographical factors to be able to score one over the other, but the simple fact of tower placement and build frequency shows Verizon's dedication to "the whole country".
So why do I want the podcast crew to toss their Iphones? Here lies my other ethical problem with AT&T. This exclusivity clause with Apple basically ruins the chance for all us little people to have access to a "cool" product with "cool" service, and leaves it available only to those of you lucky to live in the coastal states that AT&T serves. I want a good product with good service at a good price and Verizon has shown they have the ability to do this much better than AT&T. (dont believe me, try taking your Iphone to an AT&T store and tell them you dropped it in the toilet and need a new one, Verizon would replace it on the spot.) The geniuses at APPLE will only stop dealing with AT&T if it becomes fiscally reasonable to switch to Verizon, or after continued network related embarassments at launch parties, but there are too many Kool Aid drinkers on the coasts buying and buying and buying.
Meanwhile, we sit in the nest and chirp as loud as we can on our Droids, hoping someday, maybe someday AT&T will build a tower closer to my house, and the house of the person I want to call.

OK, let the debate continue.

Never have issues with AT&T service. My understanding is that the main complaints are around giant cities like New York, where you have huge populations of smart phone users, tall buildings, and other such factors that all lead to network overload or decreased signal strength. Guess what? Verizon would have the same exact problems in NYC as AT&T if they had the iPhone exclusive and then people would be railing against Verizon for their crappy coverage and the shoe would be entirely on the other foot. If you want to live in a city with 80 gagillion iPhone users in it you must accept the consequences. I accept hurricanes as a consequence of living in Florida. Californians must accept earthquakes. People in Washington DC must accept politicians. Every area has its burden to bear. Now shut up and go see a broadway play or world class concert or art exhibit or eat at a world class restaurant. :)

Just came to post the same thing. I live in that fly-over state of Illinois and I'm not even anywhere near Chicago. Central IL, Decatur, podunk central, I mean we just got 3G service last week. Have been living on Edge network and travel all around central IL with no dropped call problems.

I normally don't get involved in these discussions because I think they are pretty pointless. It's a continuous he said, she said kind of thing and no one wins...

But I wanted to point something out. I re-read your initial post, which I have quoted here:

When will everyone wise up, drop the paperweights and get on the Android train? It doesn't matter how great you think your phone is if the service (AT&T) sucks, so does the phone. Verizon will always be the provider to try and beat.

And then I re-read your most recent post...again...quoted here:

Neither one has anything to do with the other! :confused3

Your first post sounds like an iPhone hater. I read it and it says to me that you do NOT like the iPhone. I also gathered that you didn't like AT&T, but you were focused on the "paperweights" that people own...as well as wanting the eTicket app on another platform.

Then you turn around and complain, not about the phone, but about the politics involved with AT&T. WTH? If that's your beef, then say it in the beginning...what's so hard about that? Instead...you chose to flame those of us who happen to very happy and content with our iPhones (no matter what version 3G, 3Gs, or 4) and service. I just don't get it. :confused3

Oh...and I live in one of those middle fly-over states that AT&T supposedly doesn't care about. I have no problems with my service...I get 3G and I have no trouble making/receiving calls and I live in a growing area, but it's still relatively rural right now. I'm a Kool-Aid drinker and proud of it! :thumbsup2

Great thing about this country is everybody has the right to choose and also the right of free speech!

I had an iPhone for a couple of years and thought it was the absolutely best phone out there. Really. But I switched over to Verizon and got an Android phone. Why? Because in my area (emphasize MY area), AT&T is awful. No 3G (only EDGE) and only a promise of 3G. Promised it by the end of 2009. Now it's the end of 2010. Who knows when it will really come.

When I am in a 3G service area, the iPhone is a wonderful phone. Not so much when 3G is not available.

If AT&T ever gets off their butt and brings 3G in my area, I may consider switching back to the iPhone. Even better if the iPhone ever comes to Verizon! But for now, I really like my HTC Incredible. It does things the iPhone can't but then again, the iPhone does things my Incredible can't. Life is a compromise.

And, for those who don't realize they are committing a faux pas, the new iPhone is the iPhone 4, NOT the iPhone 4G. There is no 4G on the AT&T network. Maybe the iPhone 5 will be 4G. Wow, this is getting confusing.

And for those of you who can't get enough information about the iPhone 4, Tech Republic has a great unbiased review of the iPhone 4 that is worth reading. Take a look at it at: http://blogs.techrepublic.com.com/hiner/?p=5200&tag=nl.e101

Enjoy.
