technical problems with iphone4 SHOCKING!

I so don't understand the iPhone haters out there. Even if someone had something that I felt was less superior to whatever it was that I had...whether it is a phone, car, gaming system, or whatever... I would never try to convince them that whatever they have is terrible and that they should get something different. I think it's rude and uncalled for personally.

I have never had an issue with my iPhone. I had the first gen iPhone up until last week and I never had a dropped call or any other issues with it. My iPhone 4 runs circles around even my husband's 3G iPhone! I have had no issues with my new iPhone either...unless you count that the Co-Pilot app didn't work right away...but the folks who put that app out have since fixed the issue and now it runs like a dream...

Maybe some of us like AT&T's service too. I was an AT&T customer way before the iPhone, and when I needed a new phone, iPhone was the best choice. It still is...but I would be with AT&T with or without the iPhone.

When will everyone wise up, drop the paperweights and get on the Android train? It doesn't matter how great you think your phone is if the service (AT&T) sucks, so does the phone. Verizon will always be the provider to try and beat.
I really wish the podcast crew would ditch their Apple junk and finally put out the Eticket app for the service that most of the listeners use.

Not to be rude or offensive - but it seems to me that the best way to get what you're looking for isn't to refer to what the Podcast crew uses as "junk".

I generally find that when you're looking for something from someone, insulting them tends to make them not want to give you whatever it is you're looking for.

Well said.

Not everyone has a smart phone for the same reason. If your using it for business then I understand the appeal of a blackberry, Jim Rome has made that very clear. The iPhone exceeds my needs. So, I say can't we all just get along?

I too had AT&T way before the iPhone came out. In fact, I left Verizon as soon as porting numbers started. I really hated my Verizon service at the time. Now, more than half of my family and friends (only a few have iphones) have AT&T so I use mostly mobile to mobile free minutes allowing me to have the lowest family plan in terms of minutes + rollover. I doubt I would have switched back to Verizon if the iPhone was introduced exclusively at Verizon or any other carrier.

This is exactly what I was going to say. I would never question your choice to get a Droid so why question my choice to get an iPhone?

I agree with this, too. I have an iPhone - I love it. The coverage in my area has actually gotten better. Having said that, everyone has to get what phone/service is best for them. And no one should criticize anyone for what they choose. It's great that we have so many different ones to choose from.

Some people drive Fords.

Some drive Volkswagens.

We prefer Nissan.

They all do pretty much the same things.

Some do slightly different things, but they all do the basic (and main) job pretty much the same.

The same exact thing can be said for cell phones.

Buy what works best for and that which you can comfortably afford.

Cell phones are appliances. THey are not (pr at least shouldnt be) staus symbols.

You speak the truth. Instead of trying to work around the data charges being forced on the "better" phones, i should just get the one that works best with out the data plan, and not care how it looks, or what apps it can do

If you want a good phone, this is precisely what you want to do.

If you want an internet-connected device that is also a passable phone, well, then...you've got choices to make and money to pay...

anyone with good coverage will love their plan and their phone.............anyone with bad coverage will get another plan and a different phone...........anyone without a clue will just keep right on chuggin...............ultimately if it were not for the last group there would only be one of everything.................:)

Wow, lots of replies here, awesome... Now that everyone is reading this thread, let me explain my EXTREME distaste with AT&T so you can see it from my little world.
The reason I would like everyone to grab their Iphones and toss them in the East River goes like this.
Since the break up of Ma Bell, the two leaders in cellular service, AT&T and Verizon have been concentrating on different areas. AT&T is like the federal government in that they concentrate solely on East Coast and West Coast and screw the "fly-over states" in between. They figure that everyone in between will just deal with the slim pickens that are handed to them as long as every New Yorker and Californian owns an IPHONE, they succeed. (for the purpose of this story, New York extends from Miami to Maine, thanks)
Verizon has been concentrating on it's network from coast to coast. Building more and more towers to compete with other providers, Verizon has successfully created the most dependable service for the "whole country". From Akron west to Salt Lake City and from Houston north to Minneapolis, Verizon covers 70% more area with 3G service.
Sure there are dropped calls anywhere you live, with any service provider, there are way too many geographical factors to be able to score one over the other, but the simple fact of tower placement and build frequency shows Verizon's dedication to "the whole country".
So why do I want the podcast crew to toss their Iphones? Here lies my other ethical problem with AT&T. This exclusivity clause with Apple basically ruins the chance for all us little people to have access to a "cool" product with "cool" service, and leaves it available only to those of you lucky to live in the coastal states that AT&T serves. I want a good product with good service at a good price and Verizon has shown they have the ability to do this much better than AT&T. (dont believe me, try taking your Iphone to an AT&T store and tell them you dropped it in the toilet and need a new one, Verizon would replace it on the spot.) The geniuses at APPLE will only stop dealing with AT&T if it becomes fiscally reasonable to switch to Verizon, or after continued network related embarassments at launch parties, but there are too many Kool Aid drinkers on the coasts buying and buying and buying.
Meanwhile, we sit in the nest and chirp as loud as we can on our Droids, hoping someday, maybe someday AT&T will build a tower closer to my house, and the house of the person I want to call.

OK, let the debate continue.

Why do you solely blame AT&T for the exclusivity clause with Apple? (I saw you comments in the other thread too.) Apple is an equal partner in that decision. It seems to me your true problem is with AT&T and you are taking it out on the iPhone. You started this thread stating that you think the iPhone is an inferior product and now you are saying that you want your carrier to have access to the iPhone so you can get one...

Should there ever be an end to AT&T's exclusivity in the US, don't expect prices to come down.
EVERY carrier in the uk has the iPhone and it's still as expensive as it was.

Love my shiny, fast iPhone 4 tho, a step up even after owning a 3G for the past two years :)

its demographics............if you want to build a toll bridge you go to the water, otherwise you've just got a lot of wood you can drive on..........if you want to sell the most phones and plans you build your towers where the people are........look at a population map and then look where AT&T is giving the best coverage.

a phone is only as good as it's service. It is inferior to the Droid now. If Verizon had the iphone, it would be a better product solely based on its range.
I blame both AT&T and Apple for the exclusivity clause. Apple makes a good product, AT&T does not (for most people).

yeah, but people with Iphones travel dont they? This isnt like they are building a castle, a cellphone is a portable device that should be able to travel and work anywhere.. We should demand better from providers.

first, im on your side..........second "we" are in no postition to demand anything from this juggernaut........it is sort of like flipping off a grizzly bear at the zoo..............................

That's right! iPads are status symbols (if worn properly)...

I've used my AT&T phone in Mexico, the Caribbean, Europe and all over the United States.

I have virtually no trouble with AT&T service and I live in a small town between Disney and the ocean.

It sounds to me like you have a couple of options.

You can move to the east or west coast. Think of the perks....better cell service and closer to Disney.

Or.....

You can pick the best cell provider for your area and live with it.

Your dilemma isnt limited to cell phones. I love live theater....specifically Broadway shows. Unless I'm willing to go see a road company (which I do), then I have to fly to NYC or LA.

I can stamp my feet and complain but it doesnt change the fact that if I want Broadway caliber theater....I need to go where it's available.
