When will everyone wise up, drop the paperweights and get on the Android train? It doesn't matter how great you think your phone is if the service (AT&T) sucks, so does the phone. Verizon will always be the provider to try and beat.
I really wish the podcast crew would ditch their Apple junk and finally put out the Eticket app for the service that most of the listeners use.

Give them time. I am sure that Apple will make things right.

Maybe it's just me but I had a verizon for several years before switching last year to my iPhone. I actually get better coverage the 3G is faster and I have rollover minutes that I didn't get with verizon. Now as for the android phones my iPhone runs circles around the ones that people have at work.

No problems up here with our iPhone. :thumbsup2
Mind you we haven't upgraded to the 4G yet, but our 3GS is fantastic so far.
ONE dropped call due to location. Thats it.
Even when we were in WDW in Dec and DL in April, no problems. :confused3
And as far as the dropped calls, etc. are concerned in the States, don't blame the phone, blame AT&T's service, because Rogers up here works great.
Thats like blaming your laptop for slow internet because you're on dial-up.
I know the 4G is having problems, but I'm sure they will figure that out.
Once they do.......

And I think the majority have iPhones or BlackBerry's, not Androids
But that may be because I'm in Canada.
BlackBerry is very big up here.

JMHO

I think the vast majority of folks use Blackberries and Iphones. I use the Eticket app on an IPod Touch. Android is a distant 3rd in the Smartphone arena and when dedicating resources to making a product, you dedicate based on the higher market demands. Currently that would be in Blackberry and Iphone. I think the blackberry is going to be falling behind in the smartphone market to the Iphone as Apple developes more Enterprise Friendly interaction.

<--Works in the communications world.

I would be interested in seeing this iPhone run circles around a new android phone. Like the evo 4g or the upcoming droid x by verizon.

I have said this countless of times: AT&T coverage is great. I have no issues with it where I live and never have. I've been with them since it was Cingular. I'll never give up my iPhone!

There is no AT&T service problems here and I have no issues with my iPhone. So thanks for the advise but we are good here in Central VA. ;)

Me too..I have several coworkers that have Droids and they are lukewarm about them. I myself went through a G1, a MyTouch 3g and a Motorola Cliq before drinking the Kool-Aid and getting an iPhone:lmao:..Love it.:thumbsup2 Android is OK, but still doesn't match the iPhone, IMO.

I got my hands on the iphone 4g today at the AT&T store and it's a thing of beauty..I will upgrade(I have a 3G now) probably in a month or two, waiting for the fuss to die down a little.

Admittedly, AT&T coverage is awful in the NYC metropolitan area, but my 3GS is so awesome in many other ways. The bugs that you're seeing with the 4 come with any new product, and the early adopters either deal with it, or wait for them to fix the bugs.

Verison wants to charge me a 9-30 dollar monthly fee for a new phone. ATT looks pretty good right now.

I have terrible coverage with AT&T. It drops calls all the time. ALL the time. I even start calls with new people by saying that my iPhone is terrible and if it drops the call I will call them back.

And I can't get voicemails at home. I used to be able to, but the last month or so, I only get them when I've left the house and the general vicinity of the house.

I wished I lived in one of the places where the thing worked. It's such a pain.

I adore the iphone itself. It's wonderful. It's the coverage that sucks.

I looked at Verizon phones last week, but I couldn't decide what kind to get...I'll be switching back soon.

OP, I'm not sure why you want the podcast people to get rid of their phones. If the coverage is good in their area, why should they???

No issues at all here in the NE with ATT. I've had them all, from Verizon to Sprint, and ATT has the best coverage for me.

Now, as far as the iPhone issues? People love to hate the leader. Apple is that leader. This "issue" will be resolved, no doubt in my mind, and as soon as more stock becomes available, I'll be picking up two. :cool1:

Sounds like you just woke up on the wrong side of the bed, or need a little sleep from a rough day. Have some :cake: :)

I'm sure AT&T coverage is great in plenty of areas.

Around us, it isn't.

We actually tested some iPhones at work. They are bricks in our building unless you are standing in a window.

My boss can't get a signal in his house...he actually has to go to the end of his driveway. Although Verizon is only marginally better - he can get a signal on one side of his house.

I support precisely one iPhone - for the president of the company, only because he jumped on the bandwagon when it first came out and he rarely comes to the office anyways. Haven't heard if he's upgraded yet...

To each their own.

As for Android vs. Blackberry vs. iPhone...all stats are lies. :)

BB does have a lead over Android in the business phone arena, but it is dwindling. iPhone has a lead over all in the personal and I believe business arenas, but Android is gaining fast on all because of the widespread availability on all carriers and multiple manufacturers. That however is both a blessing and a curse...

The Android platform is generally more open than either, leading to easier software development in a lot of cases. But you still need to aim for the majority...which is why the official Disney Mobile Magic app doesn't work on ANY smartphones...because smartphones aren't yet the majority of phones out there.

Well I`ve had AT&T the Iphone since they first came out. From Gen 1 to Iphone 4. Had the same problem on all. The usual things drop calls, low signal and so forth. Don`t dis the phone it is the service. Just think how many Iphones AT&T has sold. Now count how many towers are in you area. Your going to get some poor service once in a while. The towers are gettin slammed. Sure AT&T need to upgrade there towers. Im just happy I have the luxory of being able to afford an Iphone or even have a cell phone period.
Heck I always said I would never own an apple computer. Yet upstairs I now have a 24inch Imac. Now i hate to use Windows Vista.
Each person has there tastes. My question is, how do you know most people on here use the Android not Iphone. Do you have the inside scoupe of what people have.
My final comment is if Pete and the gang love there Iphones and Ipads and only put apps out for them that is there choice. If they get enough people interested in these apps on other phones and carries. Im sure they would be more than happy to put out the app.
This was just my 2 cents worth of my own opinion. What can i say. Im and Iphone ***** lover.

Well I guess it would be impossible to see the iPhone run circles around a phone that isn't out yet. And as for the EVO that is on Sprint not even on Verizon?? My brother lives in Eastern PA and has a Smartphone via Verizon and his coverage is terrible, missed calls, dropped call, and no email for days.

What I can tell you is that I am the IT Manager at my company I am a Microsoft guy not an Apple fanboy, yet I continue to be impressed with the iPhone. Two guys have the droid incredible which could not successfully connect to our Exchange server until they bought a third party app. My iPhone connected the first time and continues to sync way faster then their Droid Incredibles.

BTW It cost me $199 to upgrade my iPhone 3Gs to an iPhone 4 and I am selling my iPhone for for almost $300. So I am getting almost $100 just for upgrading. Just curious is that possible with you Android phone?

Now I like the Android phone and if I was locked into a Verizon contract I would definitely have one. Which one I don't know because it seems like the next best one is always a month away and it would be tough to pull the trigger.

If you want an ActiveSync connection, then yes, you need a third-party app (Touchdown), but its a real good app. Can't remark on the speed of the sync though. It doesn't appear to be very fast (especially if I'm moving messages to folders, which I do frequently), but I believe they are working on that.

You can use the supplied IMAP client, but I admit it is weak - better off replacing it with K-9 Mail, which is still free and is based on the same source code, and actually works a ton better (the default one did something foolish that spam filters did not like one bit). And the recent K-9 update took care of any issues I did have with it (which were cosmetic). I use that for my home email (I like to keep them separated).

Unfortunately IMAP will not work they need Calendar and contacts as well a shared folder access. Their Touchdown apps keep deactivating push due to time out errors even when connected to the local network, yet I do not seem to have this problem on the iPhone. Hopefully TouchDown will update soon and fix this. Since they picked these phones up I have spent way too much time fiddling with their email.

Oddly, I haven't had to fiddle at all, and I'm not the Exchange admin. I do have a problem with it getting all my calendar items though. It has something to do with a bug with how certain calendar items were sent, if they were rescheduled, etc. But I don't need the calendar function as much.
