Technical Flaw in the Waitlist System?

Ah, I've been mentioning this fundamental problem with the WL for years now. It's a shame we can no long DBD WL and are limited to two. It does go to show that it was obviously a burden to do the DBD though. In the end, Disney doesn't really care one way or another from an occupancy standpoint -- as long as someone is in the room, someone is in the room.

Exactly :thumbsup2

this became more problematic than I expected.

we are on the wait list & trying to figure out why we haven't
been upgraded when they have released additional rooms.

the way i see it, why can't we [ dvc members ] expect a system that
is treating everyone fair & equal? what it seems we have, is a
system that only tells us we all are being treated the same, while some
are manipulating "others" into "places" that should have went to "the next person" in line.

oh, just one footnote. wow, i had no idea that my expectations were
being judged?! however, you are correct on one aspect. i see no value to
go into details over what were promised to us , or explaining why they
were important.

especially after reading more of your posts, some indicating you're not
even a dvc owner, just a timeshare? but even if you are, our
feelings/expectations & promises are a private matter. they are not trivial
and were defined clearly before we signed.

just my observation. at first i thought mr. bill was a li'harsh but
in reality, i think he is quite on "target", on his reporting .

I have owned DVC since 94 in addition to owning other timeshares almost as long. Posting about your concerns and not expecting people to judge them is unrealistic on a BBS. IMO, we have a fair system, just not a perfect system. If you want to keep your info private, your choice of course, you have the perfect way to exercise control, don't post about it.

i thought about your response & the implications are self evident.

thank you for your concerns, but i don't like to being toyed with.

yes, i sorta figured the part of other timeshares, from reading
your expert advice & the benefits...especially the "scouting"
out of how to used them @ dvc.

as for me, we are in the learning stages. i don't claimed to be
an expert. all i was interested in the "range" people are getting
from their guides. also the ways the waitlist system is being
used by member services , esp. those that developed long-
standing relationships or even getting paid to sneak some into
some of the resorts over those [trusting] members waiting
their turns.

maybe new members reading here, will be more careful on what
is going on. :flower3:

When you say getting paid to sneak people in, I assume your talking about MS taking bribes to get someone a reservation by WL that was not otherwise available? I am not aware of that happening but that's not to say it hasn't. Members have no way to control the availability including the WL, the most they could do would be to call in and see if something was available and luck out, that's certainly not sneaking even if they get something and then rent it out, a situation I don't recall seeing.

In large part floating type timeshares (points and otherwise) is an exercise in competition. It's essentially me against you to get what we want. EVERY single point is a point aimed at the option the buyer is planning to reserve but the demand is not equal to there will always be some left out of their main choices. Learning the ins and outs of the system is the best way to put yourself ahead of the others. You still come across as upset and distrustful and it makes me wonder why you want to cont to be a member if you truly feel that way.

It's true most of my stays over the past few years are by nature of exchange and I've rented most of my points during that time. I will cont to use that plan as long as it works. If you have a problem with that you should contact DVC to ask them to cancel the exchange system. Realize that one exchanging in ONLY has access to inventory that has already been exchanged out by DVD or by the DVC members and that it's against RCI's rules to rent out those exchanges.

Just as a friendly reminder to all - from posting guidelines:

NO FIGHTING/SARCASM: While we'd like to think that a Disney fan site is always lighthearted, there are times when there are disagreements. Let's face it, there are certain topics that can transform any of us into a raging "Donald Duck." When you sense this is happening, we ask that you step away from the discussion before it escalates into a fight. Just like Mom always said about fighting, we don't care who started the argument and we don't want it on the DIS. (Okay, she didn't say the part about the DIS, but you know what we mean.) No attacking others and no sarcasm please. Either will result in an infraction

NO PERSONAL MESSAGES: The types of posts that we like to see on the DIS are those that everyone can participate in and benefit from. When a post is intended for an individual, it creates a problem and can be very awkward for both the person you're publicly contacting as well as others. ...

STAYING ON TOPIC: Each of the DIS boards focuses on a specific topic....

We do not believe in censorship, and open discussions about various issues is encouraged. When participating in a thread, we ask that everyone be treated with respect and that our guidelines be followed .

we called recently and booked the grand californian in a studio from a Sat. night to Friday checkout. The Sunday night wasn't available in the studio but we booked in a one-bedroom and waitlisted that night in a studio. I was worried we'd have to move around because that Sunday night is halloween and the grand californian is so small. But the wait list came through the next day.
