Team Renfroe trip report with TONS of pics & reviews

We are eating at Boma for both breakfast and dinner this year and your pics confirm that I made a great choice. I did eat lunch today before I read your update so I am happy to reporth that my urge to lick the screen was minimal. I would love to try one of the water parks but my youngest is just not able to do this. Looks like you all had a great time, can't wait to read more

Thanks for the pictures of Typhoon Lagoon....we're going in October for the first time. It looks so tropical compared to Blizzard Beach.

LOVED your pics of TL! We are planning to visit TL for the first time next trip. Those are the best pics of TL I've seen. You really make me think I just do not take near enough pics. You even have pics inside Crushin Gusher! Is your camera a digital water proof? Glad you didn't lose the camera in the slide;)

Great pics from Typhoon Lagoon ::yes:: , I agree with you it's a great place, but usually when we go we end up walking through the lazy river for a while until we all manage to get a ring each, and then after about 5mins my youngest DD normally decides to donate her ring to someone else :confused3 and then floats inbetween everyone else ;). And Boma looked fantastic, I think we may have to try this one :thumbsup2

Still loving the trippie!

How did you like being "way out" in the Ranchos section? Most of the time I read that people try to stay away from it because it's so far away. I stayed in Cabanas at CSR, but the Ranchos look really cool!

Thanks, Dallas_Lady. We actually preferred being in the Ranchos section. We did most all of our dining elsewhere, so our main thing was to be close to a bus stop and the dig site pool. We were close to both! We didn't have a waterfront view, but it's not like we were sitting on a porch outside anyway! I thought the entire resort was beautiful.

Great TL update!

Thanks, kaysmommie! We loved TL!

I love your trip report! You are an excellent storyteller and photographer. I can't wait until you go back, so I can read your next trip report! :goodvibes

Awww....thank you VERY much! I've done a little writing in my career for magazines. It is something I enjoy doing. I enjoy writing songs as well.

What a great compliment! Thanks very much!

Food looked great at Boma. The bacon looks just how i like it,not crisped so it's like snapping a stick:rotfl: dh loves the bacon like that though.Loved the Typhoon Lagoon pics, but Alan where's the pic of you with your body on show:confused3 .Can't wait for more.x.

Yep, not too crisp, not too soggy....just right! (for me, anyway!)

:rotfl2: :rotfl: Yeah, I took tons of buff he-man pictures at TL! I'm just too modest to post them!!! :rotfl2: Thanks, x.

After looking at your pictures of Boma I talked to DH and both DD's and they thought it looked really good. So DH and I decided to call and make reservations for breakfast at Boma's. Called and got in at 8:35AM on Friday of our trip. Can't wait!! Our intention was to only do counter service meals this trip, but looks like things are changing some. :lmao:

Wow....I had no idea I would have that kind of influence on other people's plans! I hope you all enjoy Boma as much as we did. I've got to give credit to Nicki & Todd, otherwise known as MickeyNicki. It was her trip report and Boma pictures that made us make reservations there! In fact, we cancelled a 2TS meal, so that we could have 2 1TS meals and add Boma. Good move!

What is the jungle juice at Boma? It looked like orange juice.

It is actually a mixture of many different juices. I think it was orange juice, papaya, pineapple, guava, and lemonade. I've never had anything like it...very exotic, but not extreme. It's good stuff.

Typhoon Lagoon!! I love your pics, your family looks like they are just having a blast! :goodvibes Crush 'n Gusher looks so much fun (haven't done it yet myself!), as does the Lazy River! Can't wait to hear about the Pepper Market

Thanks, FF. You GOTTA try Crush 'N Gusher!

Hey Melissa! Good move in eating before checking in! :rotfl: I think some of those pictures will actually make you gain weight, if you aren't careful!

Hello, Heidi! We went to both Typhoon Lagoon AND Blizzard Beach. I preferred Typhoon Lagoon, but DS liked BB. I love the tropical theme at TL.

Thanks, pmama. I'm a picture nerd. (That's part of my Clark Griswold-ness I guess!) We actually bought two waterproof disposable cameras at Wal-mart before our trip and packed them for the waterparks. When we had them developed, we got the c.d. with the jpgs....so most of the TL pictures are from disposal Fugi waterproof cameras. They cost like $8! It's a good investment to have for the waterparks.

Thanks, Karen! We did that exact same thing!! By the time we got in the lazy river, the park was starting to get crowded. We had to walk in the lazy river about a half of a round before we all got tubes!

Boma is awesome....you'll love it!

I LOVED your report! :thumbsup2

Thanks, HonnyDipp. I'm glad you're enjoying it.

I am so glad you liked Boma....we are going back there for breakfast 2 weeks from tomorrow and I cannot wait.

Your trip report is amazing, I feel like I am right there with ya! Thanks for the Narcoossee's review, I think I have DH talked into it for Oct!

Really enjoying your trip report!
Your children are so cute and you and your wife make such a nice couple!
Looking forward to reading the rest!
Really enjoying your pictures too!

I believe this is one of the best TRs I've had the pleasure of viewing!:thumbsup2 Great info., great pictures, and a great family. Thanks so much for taking the time to share it with us!!

Great Typhoon Lagoon pictures! Love that you had a water-proof camera with you even on some of the slides.

We went to both Typhoon Lagoon AND Blizzard Beach. I preferred Typhoon Lagoon, but DS liked BB. I love the tropical theme at TL.

Last May we only went to TL...but we have the Water Park and More option on our tix this year, so we are going to try both -- besides, we are going in September when it will probably be hot :furious: Good to hear your family liked both ::yes::

I love Typhoon Lagoon, and can't wait to go on Crusher and Gusher when we go soon... it wasn't there the last time we went so I'm really excited, especially after reading your review!
You've helped us as well we were deliberating whether to go for Boma for breakfast and now I think we will due to your report!!! Thanks!! :thumbsup2:

Wow! Thanks for your kind compliments! I am really glad that you are enjoying the trip report!

Great Typhoon Lagoon pictures! Love that you had a water-proof camera with you even on some of the slides.

Thanks, Christine. We started taking waterproof cameras to the beach with us on our previous summer vacations to make sure we didn't miss catching the fun! They have a rubber band handle on them, so you can carry them around your wrist with ease.

Hi, Katiebell! I think you will enjoy both parks. There is something for everyone! We had the waterparks option instead of park hopper. We sort of used the waterparks like a park hopper.

I love Typhoon Lagoon, and can't wait to go on Crusher and Gusher when we go soon... it wasn't there the last time we went so I'm really excited, especially after reading your review!

Typhoon Lagoon would have been great without Crush 'N Gusher, but WITH it, in my opinion, it makes it the best water park of all. CNG is thrilling, but not quite as scary as sliding down Summit Plummet at Blizzard Beach...it's a different kind of thrilling...more like a coaster. It has some tremendous drops and you definitely "get air" on several occasions. I'm not big on the huge drop slides, like Summit Plummet, but I LOVED Crush 'N Gusher.

Crush 'N Gusher has three options: Banana, Pineapple, and Coconut. One of them is seperated at the top of the tower from the other two. The seperated one, (I think it is the Banana,) is more intense. LOVED IT! :yay:

Crush 'n Gusher warning !!!!
Lay on the tube ! make sure your backside doesn't go through the hole in the hoop! Friction burns on your backside are not good, it also cost me a new swimsuit!

But hey on the up side it's not every overweight 40 Yr old that has a swimsuit with Mickey Heads on (I had to buy a new one in the park-it was the only one that fitted!). Also has the added bonus of the family having a new 'Mum' story-to be honest I was fed up of the one when I nearly drowned falling off a pedalo in Spain being the family joke.

Mr Renfroe (as you're known in our house) I'm still lovin your trip report.

After leaving Typhoon Lagoon, we drove back to Coronado Springs and decided to grab a quick lunch at the Pepper Market. Since we had not made plans for lunch, (because of a huge breakfast at Boma and early dinner reservations for Spirit of Aloha,) we paid out of pocket instead of using our DxDDP credits.

We had read a lot of reviews about the Pepper Market and how confusing it can be the first time. It's really not that confusing at all once you know how it works. When you arrive to the Pepper Market area, you are seated and given a blank card with empty boxes on it. A menu of all things available is also given to you. You can sit for a moment, look over the menu, then proceed to the station that is serving the items you want. When you are at the station serving your desire item, you simply let them know what you want and they stamp your card. Each person gets a stamp on the card for each item they wish to order. When finished with your meal, you proceed to the exit and give the card to the cashier. The cashier simply rings up what you were served.

It really isn't fair to call this a lunch....it was more like a snack on this day. We were mostly still full from breakfast, but decided we probably needed to eat a small lunch or snack before our dinner at Spirit of Aloha.

That being said, I decided to have the kids' chicken fingers meal.

DSC00785.jpg

DW had the chicken noodle soup.

DSC00787.jpg

DS had the only real meal. He had the fish tacos, which were salmon. This was a HUGE plate of food, and DW & I both helped him finish it.

DD was not feeling well. She was beginning to complain about having a tummy ache. At the counter, we picked up a rice crispy treat for her using one of our snack credits.

We headed back to our room, and by the time we arrived DD was really nauseous. It was about 2pm and our reservations for Spirit of Aloha were at 5:15pm. We decided to let the girls take an afternoon nap, and DS & I would go do something on our own for a while.

DS & I decided to go to Disney's Hollywood Studios for about an hour and a half. We knew we wouldn't have much time, but we had planned to go back after dinner to catch Fantasmic. We figured at the very least we could pick up fastpasses for Rock 'N Roller Coaster and perhaps ride it before Fantasmic this evening.

Next report - DS & I go to Disney's Hollywood Studios while the girls rest.

Ooh....EXCELLENT POINT, Shazzie B! Make sure that all of your body is on the float, and that your backside is not touching the slide underneath! DD had a couple of small bruises on her back from the times when you get airbourne. The CM tried to explain to her to arch her back, but I don't think she got what he was saying. She loved her first ride down with DW, but when she rode with me, she had a rough ride.

This is not a ride for small children, for sure. It's pretty intense! Thanks, Shazzie B. for reminding me about keeping your backside on the float at all times.

My son and I just read your entire report so far. We are enjoying it so much. You have a precious family and you (and the lady at the GF) are right these are the best times of our lives. We cherish these moments with our children just like you do. We cannot wait to read the rest of this:)

I am amazed at the low crowd levels ~ it seems ya'll hit it just right. We went the first week of Dec. last year when the crowds are really supposed to be low and we did not have days that looked like yours do so far. May we ask which week in May you went? Someone may have already asked this and if they have I apologize.
