Team Renfroe - Pre-Trip Report for May 15-22, 2009 **Final Chapter**

Well Alan we have some same plans, I too plan to watch Spectro and Wishes on the 16th but am planning on Raglan Road for supper !!
Epcot is my Day 2 as well and that is my Kona night Your review did that)
Have never eaten at Boatwights and you don't hear too much about it , but the menu is appealing !!

Alan I don't think the shrimp and scallop is on Chef's lunch menu !!

Hi Rosie! We have never eaten at Raglan Road but I am really looking forward to it! I think I have to give Cammie the credit for that choice.

The itinerary I put together before is very, very tentative. In fact, DW and I have discussed lots of different possibilities. Boatwright's may be on the chopping block for us, simply because we want to try several other things.

Glad you are going with Kona!!! I think you'll love it!

Oh, and you are right about not having the shrimp and scallop on the Chef's lunch menu. That's too bad. I doubt we will have a free dinner to schedule there...but we'll see.

Hi Alan,

The second day of our trip we had lunch at DHS' Brown Derby. Let me tell you that although the food and service were very good (although not particularly outstanding), we did not feel that it was worth 2 TS credits, specially after eating at The Wave.

We were seated at the edge of the Dining area, a little separated from the rest of the tables. Nevertheless, the site felt very crowded, with the tables set very near one from the other.

I reckon that it could be that we were spoiled by eating later on sites like The Wave and Yak & Yeti (my wife asked for the Baby back Ribs and set a new record eating time-they were that good!!).

Regarding the Trip Report I hope to begin posting it on the next few days, as soon as family and job let me have enough time...

Regards,

Luis.

P.S. It is wonderful to see your kids growing up. The really look not older, but more mature. You are going to have your hand full with suitors for both!! :)

Great suggestion, Luis! The more we think about it, the more we agree that the Brown Derby just doesn't warrant 2TS. We are leaning towards going back to the 50s Prime Time Cafe. We had fun there, and our food was great! I read mixed reviews on the 50s, but I think it may be WHAT you order.

The Wave sounds great! Now we've got to make room to fit that one in. I was looking at their menu on allears and it looks great!

By the way, did you start a trip report? If so, please post the link on this thread. Thanks, my friend!

Brown Derby looks like such a great pick, I've always wanted to dine there! Unfortunately it's 2 credits on the basic Dining Plan, so eventually I'll have to splurge!! :lmao: Seeing Wishes on your first night is so special! :goodvibes Never been to Boatwright's myself. As I'm reading your list I can recall all the places you ate last year, I guess that's a way to tell you wrote a very good TR!! :thumbsup2

Anyway, great itinerary so far, though I know this will change and change again before May! (That's half the fun!)

OH! And I also just wanted to throw a TS idea out there in case you happen to be at AK one evening. Tusker House for dinner is amazing and so much fun for the variety of foreign food! It's probably my second favorite restaurant in all of WDW. Your family are such adventurous eaters, I thought perhaps this might be something to consider. Then again, maybe you've already viewed the menu and were in disgust! :rotfl:

EXACTLY! and that is why we have decided to not go to the Brown Derby, unless we pay out of pocket...which would be an option. I would just like to have the Cobb Salad, and if we paid out of pocket, it wouldn't be that much and it would save us 2TS credits per family member! We could have two huge Boma breakfasts for that!!! :rotfl2:

No one seems to be jumping up and down about Boatwrights. I'm pretty sure we will scrap that idea. Tusker House is an option, but we are thinking about breakfast early one morning?

Bumping this up Alan !!

Thanks for the bumps, Rosie!! I will do my part to keep the thread updated.

Alan, I just wanted to report that I went ahead and ate at H & V. It was too late to try and change it and we had booked the fantasmic dinner package anyway. I tried very hard to switch to MM since we had eaten there the year before but couldn't get in. I just want to say that the food was actually good! The food was hot and fresh (no wilted salad). I also wanted to say that we had the earliest dinner time at Crystal Palace which gave us lunch/dinner and it was great! I love the desert selections here.

Thank you for giving the information on Boma breakfast. We stayed at AKL and one of my favorite days was the day we slept in and had breakfast at Boma! Boma's dinner and breakfast were my favorite meals this time. We actually gave up our Le Cellier ressies and ate at Boma instead :thumbsup2 . I love the frunch punch stuff. We all had it for breakfast AND dinner. I ate so many zebra domes that I am sure I now hold the zebra dome chow down record. I missed the part where you said where you were staying. Did you decide?

You know, I think about that H&V experience, and I wonder how much of my not liking it had to do with my state of mind at the time. DS & I went without DW & DD. The evening we went, we were supposed to go to the Spirit of Aloha, but DD got really sick. DW & DD ended up staying in the room that evening, so I think I was partially worried about my little girl that evening.

No problem on the Boma recommendation! I'm glad you liked it as much as we did! That frunch punch stuff was OUTSTANDING!! I think I tried a little bit of almost everything. I enjoyed some of the African items on the menu, like the curry dish.

MORE LATER!

Hi Luis! I will DEFINITELY be checking out your trip report! I can't wait to read about your trip.

DW & I are strongly considering adding The Wave to our restaurants list, based on your report. The menu looks great.

Thanks for the birthday wishes for DD! I will be posting pictures soon.

Alan

You asked if I had a Pre-Trip Report :) My mother and I are both writing one together, actually! ;) Here is the link, we'd love to see you on there if you have the time! http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1804420
We've gone through quite a few ADR and other changes since the start of it :rotfl: I don't think that can be helped when you're looking forward to a Disney trip!

Hi Alan I think the photopas may be closed it went fast which was why I pm'd you > Bertegirl is heading it up she might squeeze you in especially if you tell her I said PLEESE!!

My DD had a great 9th birthday party!!

DW made the cake herself. Everything was edible, including the "sand" (which was mashed up Nilla wafers,) and the shells, (which were made of chocolate.)

Lol Rosie I wishI could get it down to just one that I keep changing. I have it down to about 4 that I keep changing. It is hard work to figure out how to use so many table service and snack credits! Now I am thinking of chucking crystal palace and the wave for flying fish but who knows. Ask me tomorrow and it will be different again.:rotfl2:

I've subscribed to your link, but I haven't read it yet. I will, and I'll post!

I hate to seem uninformed, but what is the photopass, Rosie?

Great to "see" you on here again, my friend! I work at a University, so I know how everything is "go, go, go!" (Great way to describe it!)

Thanks for the compliments about the pictures of DD, and DW thanks you for kind comments about the cake.

Hi Michelle! Thanks for the welcome back. I hope to be off from work for the entire week of Thanksgiving. This will give DW and I some time to discuss our WDW plans and ADR plans. Last time, we were able to get everything we wanted except breakfast at Chef Mickey's and dinner at Ohana. Those will be the probably the first two ADRs we make this time.

Hey Rosie! I think we are starting to get a little closer to our "firm" list of desired ADRs. Do you know when park hours and EMHs for May will be posted?

:rotfl2: I know what you mean, Michelle! We keep going back and forth.

We want to try the Flying Fish this trip for sure. I also want to try The Wave, based on Luis' great report. Crystal Palace looks like fun, but I am a little leary of buffets...and character interaction is only marginally important to us. (although DW & DD would enjoy the Pooh characters!)

That's one of the best birthday cakes I've ever seen! Your DW did an amazing job! Happy 9th Birthday to your DD! :dance3:

Hey! I just made a post on your DM's thread. Thanks for posting the link!

DW says thanks for the compliments on the cake. DD had a great birthday!

Hey all! We are still playing around with our restaurant planning and we wanted to ask everyone for advice: We had breakfast at Boma on our last trip and loved it. Should we go back to Boma on the morning we are going to AK, or should we try Tusker House for breakfast?

Hi Alan first PhotoPass is the photographers in the park that take the pix of you' Some can add for example Tink to your hand ,and others you can buy the individual pix (very expensive or you can purchas a cd .There is no limit on how many pix you get for the one price and by having a

Thanks, Rosie! I'm getting the concept now.

Hello all! Just wanted to share some photos with you from my recent trip to Washington D.C. I travel to DC once a year on business, and this year I decided to bring DS along with me! DS had never flown before. I think he liked flying better than anything else!

Anyway, it was a quick trip. We only stayed one night and had to go a dinner on the day we arrived. Bless his heart, he had to sit through the most BORING dinner of all time the night before...but it was worth it!

We got an early 6am wakeup call, so that we could spend the day touring DC.

We stayed in Crystal City, which connects to the Metro....so we took the Metro everywhere.

After grabbing some Dunkin' Donuts for breakfast, we got on the Metro and stopped at Arlington Cemetery.

More in the next post....

After spending some time at Arlington Cemetery, DS & I got back on the Metro and went into the Mall area of DC. We walked around the entire perimeter, seeing all the monuments.

DS thought it would be funny if we "leaned" on the Washington Monument!

It was absolutely the most beautiful and perfect day! The weather was mid 60s with sunshine and a mild breeze. DS & I had a hotdog and a pretzel from street vendors and just enjoyed the time we spent together in our nation's capitol. With DS being in 6th grade, and this being an election year, I just thought this was great timing for us to have this experience together.

We caught the Metro back to Crystal City, checked out, and flew home by dark. We were both tired, but it was a trip neither of us will ever forget.
