Team Renfroe - Pre-Trip Report for May 15-22, 2009 **Final Chapter**

We ate at the Beirgarten last year. The kids LOVED the food and entertainment. DH loved the food, atmosphere and . It was one of our favorite resteraunts.

Really? That's great!! Perhaps I am too quick to assume that my children would not like Biergarten. My DW was born in Germany, and I love German food....so I KNOW we would enjoy it. I'm still not sure about DS, who is an adventurous eater, but more in the seafood department that schnitzel! I would enjoy the beer too!! . Since we are now looking at the Deluxe Dining Plan again and can do a table service for lunch, we may try to add Biergarten for lunch.

Hi Alan ,I am doing Chef's again in May!! I loved the shrimp and scallop dish with the spinach flan, now it is alight meal but if I was on Dlx I would get the onion soup as an appie and that would make it a heavy meal. I personally LOVED the apple crepe dessrt. That alone is worth eturning for !! I would not take my 6 yr old DGS there but the girls would be fine . I think the kids would enjoy Biergarten, I loved the food but I am a fan of german food , their roast pork was absolutely the best I ever had!!

Hi Rosie! We've never been to Les Chefs, but since we are doing the Deluxe Dining Plan, we plan to make a dinner ADR for our next trip. I think DS will be fine....especially if we tell him about the shrimp and scallop dish! (he is a scallop fanatic!) Also, since DD is still on the kids menu, she should be fine as well. Thanks for the advice on the onion soup! Hopefully, they won't get "sauce happy" on dessert, like they did with Cammie!

Just back from 12 days at WDW!!.

I don't remember if this was on your last trip or not, but we had the opportunity of eating at "The Wave", at the Contemporary Resort: Superb!! The food was just excellent, the desserts awesome!! It had that truly special feeling you get at only top-notch restaurants, and it is only 1 TS credit.

The ambiance is just perfect for a quiet, most personal leisure dinner. I recommend it quite highly...

Hello Luis! Welcome home, my friend! I hope you had a WONDERFUL 12 days at WDW! Did you take lots of pictures? You should start a trip report! If you do, please let all of us know...I'd love to know details about your trip.

The Wave had not opened yet on our last trip. I've looked at the menu and it looks great. Nice to hear from a trusted source that it is highly recommended.

I'll put in my $.02 re:Biergarten - didn't like it at all. I know ALOT of people enjoy this restaurant but I just didn't - and I really wanted to! I still say you need to try it for yourself though. As many have pointed out, if all else fails - you've still got the beer!

Yes I didn'task and the sauce was fine I guess it just depends on the chef but I will ask them to go easy!!

I know. I've seen some pix on the food porn thread and they didn't have an over-abundance of sauce either. I guess I got a heavy-handed chef the night we went.

Yep, we are flying up to Reagan International two weeks from today. I have to attend a dinner on Friday night, and DS and I have to fly back on Saturday...so we will only have a few hours. I plan to take the Metro to the Mall area and just walk around and see as much as possible. This will be DS's first time to fly! I wish we had more time.....I love DC!

Thanks for the $.02! I think I would like Biergarten, but I don't know about everyone else. Besides, DW would really like to go back to Tutto. I may not win that one. Oh well.....just another reason to plan another trip back to WDW if I don't get to go this time, right?

I think you both are right - it is all about the chef at the time. I'm sure not every plate leaves the kitchen as perfect as every other plate. Still, based on Cammie's pictures, I think I'll be on the safe side to ask them to go light on the sauces.

Of course, a lot depends on park hours, Extra Magic Hours, whether or not we get Park Hopper, etc. For now, I'm just trying to figure out a tenative way to get in all the restaurants we want.

Opinions welcomed!! Any comments on Boatwrights?

Well Alan we have some same plans, I too plan to watch Spectro and Wishes on the 16th but am planning on Raglan Road for supper !!
Epcot is my Day 2 as well and that is my Kona night Your review did that)
Have never eaten at Boatwights and you don't hear too much about it , but the menu is appealing !!

Alan I don't think the shrimp and scallop is on Chef's lunch menu !!

Hi Alan,

The second day of our trip we had lunch at DHS' Brown Derby. Let me tell you that although the food and service were very good (although not particularly outstanding), we did not feel that it was worth 2 TS credits, specially after eating at The Wave.

We were seated at the edge of the Dining area, a little separated from the rest of the tables. Nevertheless, the site felt very crowded, with the tables set very near one from the other.

I reckon that it could be that we were spoiled by eating later on sites like The Wave and Yak & Yeti (my wife asked for the Baby back Ribs and set a new record eating time-they were that good!!).

Regarding the Trip Report I hope to begin posting it on the next few days, as soon as family and job let me have enough time...

P.S. It is wonderful to see your kids growing up. The really look not older, but more mature. You are going to have your hand full with suitors for both!!

Brown Derby looks like such a great pick, I've always wanted to dine there! Unfortunately it's 2 credits on the basic Dining Plan, so eventually I'll have to splurge!! Seeing Wishes on your first night is so special! Never been to Boatwright's myself. As I'm reading your list I can recall all the places you ate last year, I guess that's a way to tell you wrote a very good TR!!

Anyway, great itinerary so far, though I know this will change and change again before May! (That's half the fun!)

OH! And I also just wanted to throw a TS idea out there in case you happen to be at AK one evening. Tusker House for dinner is amazing and so much fun for the variety of foreign food! It's probably my second favorite restaurant in all of WDW. Your family are such adventurous eaters, I thought perhaps this might be something to consider. Then again, maybe you've already viewed the menu and were in disgust!

Alan, I just wanted to report that I went ahead and ate at H & V. It was too late to try and change it and we had booked the fantasmic dinner package anyway. I tried very hard to switch to MM since we had eaten there the year before but couldn't get in. I just want to say that the food was actually good! The food was hot and fresh (no wilted salad). I also wanted to say that we had the earliest dinner time at Crystal Palace which gave us lunch/dinner and it was great! I love the desert selections here.

Thank you for giving the information on Boma breakfast. We stayed at AKL and one of my favorite days was the day we slept in and had breakfast at Boma! Boma's dinner and breakfast were my favorite meals this time. We actually gave up our Le Cellier ressies and ate at Boma instead . I love the frunch punch stuff. We all had it for breakfast AND dinner. I ate so many zebra domes that I am sure I now hold the zebra dome chow down record. I missed the part where you said where you were staying. Did you decide?

Hi to all of my DIS pals!! I'm terribly sorry I haven't made a post in a while. You gotta hate it when life gets in the way of your Disney planning!! As I may have mentioned before, I work at a University and football season is my busiest time of year. Last week was Homecoming week, so things should start to slow down...at least a little.

Anyway, I've got lots to share including pictures and updates from our DC trip and DD's 9-year-old birthday party!
