Team 'Ohana--No One Left Behind: The Continuing Adventures

Thanks so much for the birthday wishes :grouphug:

We celebrated yesterday with a family dinner at Melting Pot.... Yummy fondue. As a present to myself I did not even look at the scale today

Arrrgggghhhhh......just lost a big long post because I tried to add a smilie!

In a nutshell......happy belated birthday, Jen. Sorry to be so late, but I was out of town without Internet. Hope your special day was super duper.

Richard: I look forward to reading your blog and will forward the link to my daughter.

Jackie: I miss our chats.....there's no reason to not get-together. Let's make it happen.

Everyone else: a big hello (without trying to post the waving smilie!!!!)

I CAN RUN! :woohoo: Well, not yet, but the doc says there's no reason why I can't run MCM this year. He does like the idea that I can switch to the 10K as the time gets closer, but he thinks the PT is a little out of his mind if he thinks 2-3 miles is all I'll do this year. I'm cleared to start walking immediately, with the instructions to stop if it hurts, so I'm going to add TM to my bike/weight routine beginning tomorrow. Just did 40 minutes on the bike, plus the upper body workout.

February 23...

Jen
- One day I'm going back to Melting Pot. I haven't been since before DD was born. And she really, really wants to go too!

Jeanne - I'm thinking of volunteering for Tobacco Road. Maybe we can get together either at or after the race? Bill waited too long to register too. :sad1: He's hoping to run across a bib somewhere between now and then.

Jackie

Jackie: great news about being able to run again. Tell me when the Tobacco Road marathon is and I will see if that works for us.

John: just curious.....did we meet before the 2009 Nashville CMM? You gotta forgive me for not remembering.....I'm old and forgetful....and have had so many things on my mind recently!

I've never run the Nashville race. That must have been some other crazy guy who dresses up in costume for Disney races. ;)

Jackie: Great new for you!!! Take it slow and easy and get yourself moving :cool1::cool1::cool1:

Jeanne: You sell yourself short... you are neither old nor forgetful, just really busy!

I'm trying to motivate myself to actually train for Princess. I'm getting my miles in, but my heart just isn't in it. Not sure if it is a winter slump or what, but just tough to find the motivation. I'm going to spend today trying to make a costume for the race-- WISH green tutu and a tiara for my visor to see if that helps me get inspired.

Hi Everyone!
I got home last night to find that Darcy had just started watching the biography of Walt that was on CNBC (btw tonight is about Pixar!). While we were watching Darcy mentioned that she had never been out west before, in fact she has never been farther west than Libbock, TX on a high school trip to Texas Tech. Between those and her comments about how nice it would be to see the Disney Family Museum, even I--who is often oblivious to hints :confused3-could not miss this one! Now if she would just hint that she wanted to buy into DVC! :rotfl:

However, I have not been to DL since the age of 2, so I am a bit lost in that area. Does anyone care to give me a few pointers, starting with airports and hotels? This would be about a 4 day extended weekend trip which I hope to put off until the week after Ironman Texas (the week before Memorial Day) but might have to move up a month or 2 if it helps keep the DW happy.

On the local front, I went to the registration kickoff party for the new Woodlands Marathon this past week and won a free entry to the inaugural March 2012 race! :goodvibes :yay:

Jen- com'on Jen, get ready for the Princess!

Jeanne- I expect your DD could swim, bike and run circles around me, but maybe my first time experiences would be of use to her.

John- So what is the deal about the over-hyped non-snow?

....and a great big hug and hello to everyone else out there!

Richard: I have been to DL three times in the past 10 years so may be able to address some of your questions. SNA (Santa Ana/John Wayne) is a very nice airport and is about 20 minutes from DL. You can take a Super Shuttle for a very reasonable rate. There is no need to rent a car if you plan to stay on Disney property. Check Dreams Unlimited for various specials. They often have fabulous deals that include parkhoppers and/or free nights. Twice we stayed on property (DL hotel and Paradise Pier) and that was very nice, but there are probably about 30-40 hotels that are within walking distance (or quick shuttle) that are a mere fraction of the cost. I believe they are called "Good Neighbor" hotels and offer many of the amenities you would get at a Disney hotel. That said, everything is accessible by foot. DL and CA are right across from each other and Downtown Disney is right next door. The Grand California Resort has a wonderful restaurant called Napa Rose. It's a little pricey, but worth every penny. They have a wonderful wine pairing package that goes with dinner. If you are interested, make those reservations as soon as possible since the restaurant is quite popular. That's it for now.....I'd be happy to answer any other questions you might have.

Just curious......how many cousins are doing the princess?

Richard, I'm as disappointed as you are with the lack of snow we received. After all that build up and panic they instilled in the general population, this "winter storm" was a whole lotta nothing. And as far as DL goes, when we went out for the half last year, we flew into SNA and stayed at the Holiday Inn. They have a shuttle that runs to the park every 15-20 minutes or so, and the hotel itself was a lot less expensive than staying on park property.

About the only good that came out of the frenzy over today's expected snow was being able to work from home all day. That means I had time to put the finishing touches on my Houston marathon race report. It's not one of the best I've written, but then again, it wasn't exactly one of the best races I've done. It was a wet, tough slog.

Seriously, there was no snow in Houston yesterday????? Mike was in San Diego this week and WEDNESDAY NIGHT Continental CANCELLED his Thursday night flight! And there was no snow? Luckily his work was reasonable and rebooked him quickly so he came home on SouthWest, but man Continental really jumped the gun it sounds like!

Richard--what about the Disneyland 1/2 in September? It's on my birthday this year and Mike and I are seriously considering it.:goodvibes

Nope, no snow. They really did cancel flights unnecessarily. Glad Mike was able to get home.

I guess I get it, because they probably have no snow removal, but they really jumped the gun! When Mike booked the flight, I thought great, we won't have to worry about weather cancellations, so I couldn't believe it when they called him to cancel. They must have lost a boatload of money!
