Team 'Ohana 2009: No One Left Behind

Richard - I'm sorry I forgot to say a big GOOD LUCK on your your race! I'm impressed (but not surprised!) by the amount of support you gathered in such a short period of time. I just got an email that you crossed the start-line and I sure hope things are going well and the weather is good for you.

Jackie - That sounds like a lot of stressful stuff at once! I hope your run is good today and that things calm down soon with your daughter and neighbor.

Maria - terrible news about Dennis's knee. It can be frustrating how long it takes to get these things taken care of. I hope it all goes well.

Mel - I have the same challenge with my kids and we are all vegetarians, so you have to wonder what they even eat! I bought a book by this woman - http://thesneakychef.com/
We haven't tried a lot of her recipes, I have to admit, but there are some free ones online, so that might be a start. Her main thing seems to be making nutrient filled purees and putting them in other foods. It's a lot more trouble than, say, throwing a cheese sauce over something, unfortunately.

AFM- I took the plunge and registered for the Race for the Taste. I can't believe I did that! I might have preferred the Tower of Terror, but that weekend, unfortunately, is the load-in for CASH's show - he is The Lecturer in Reefer Madness! I will doubtless be needed for last minute set painting as well. The way it works is we load in all the components and assemble them at the theater, and then put the finishing touches on in slivers of time that week because of the rules of the facility - we only have the space between certain hours and a union technician must be there at all times etc. Hassle. So for me to leave that weekend would be, unfortunately, very unsupportive of my amazingly supportive husband. One Tower of Terror Medal is going to have to be enough for me. I'll have the Taste medal to round out the set. Now if only they'd drop the park ticket from the Everest registration cost.....I can't see paying that when I already have admission, ya know?

The slightly intimidating thing is that the RFTT is the weekend immediately after the Twin Cities 10 mile. I guess I won't race the 10 mile TOO hard. I can't imagine I'd beat my July 4th PR on this course anyhow. That was flat, this is a lot of constant incline and a biggish hill. Or so I'm told. Also the TC Marathon weekend has had crap-weather the past two years. Either it's time for weather perfection or we're going to be dodging hail and straight-line winds!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Hey gang!
I finished my Tour de Cure bike ride this morning, starting at 8AM and finishing just before noon. Unfortunately the course was shortened by a few miles due to a late detour because of a bridge out of service for repair, so the course was shortened to somewhere between 59 and 60 miles, but I won't complain too much about that.;)
Today's weather was great--it was overcast with a slight breeze (and occasionally a decent headwind!) and then temps probably never got over the low 80 range during the ride period. Ride support was great and fortunately I never needed assistance, but I saw the trucks frequently all over the course. I stopped at 3 of the 5 aid stations so that added about 15 - 20 minutes to my total time, but I was more in training mode than racing mode. Along the way I struck up several conversations with fellow riders, including with one woman who lives in my immediate area (which is about an 80 minute drive from the event). The route started way west of Houston and we spent more time in farmland areas than in "civilization". :lmao:
Thanks to all of you who offered moral and/or financial support for my ride. I met all of my personal goals and far exceeded my original fundraising goal (raising $300 so far with a starting goal of $150).

It sounds like a great day out there, Richard. I am so glad your luck was good today and you didn't need assistance. Congratulations again on your fundraising success and on finishing!

Corinna - Congratulations on registering for RFTT. Now that we're empty nesters, I wish the budget would allow more trips to WDW for races, but we still have to pay for college!

Richard - Congratulations on your ride! Sounds like you did a great job all around, both with fundraising and the ride itself.

Did a very hilly 10 mile run yesterday with our group, then followed it up today with a 2 mile walk with the dogs. The weekend began with a call at 11:00 Friday night from DD to tell me that she'd gotten her first ticket, for running a red light. She was crying and saying she was sorry for everything she'd said and that she needed her mom. I was exhausted and reluctant to say too much, for fear of making a bad situation worse, but I forgave her after shedding a few more tears. It's gonna be a long week...

Jackie

Jackie: Sorry about the drama with DD-- nice to see that she realizes how important mom really is. I'm not looking forward to the teenage years with DD6, for now I just have to survive 1st grade

Richard: congrats on a good race

Corinna: Can't wait to see you again at RFTT

I did the PDR today-- the weather was perfect :thumbsup2 nice and cool at the start (actually a bit cold at 52 degrees) It warmed up as the sun came out. I ran a PR of 2:39 so was fairly pleased with the race-- it is the perfect course through Center City Philadelphia then along the river and boathouse row starting and ending at the art museum. It is also really flat, a definite plus. This gives me hope that I really am getting into better shape-- if the weight loss sould only happen a bit better just think how fast I could be...

Jackie - this is a bit of a shoestring trip for me, for sure. I got most of my plane ticket with reward points, which was lucky! I'm glad your daughter has apologized to you.

JenB - I am so excited to see you at RFTT, too! It doesn't sound like it will be as Ohana-laden a race as the half, but we'll still have fun. GREAT time on your race today! I'm so glad the weather was good for you. That makes a huge, HUGE difference!

I know what you mean about the weight loss helping with speed, but I'm not sure exactly how much you theoretically gain per mile per pound lost. I thought I read something about that somewhere....maybe I can find it again.

AFM - It's been a weird one. This Sunday morning long run is not working out
the best with my teaching Sunday School responsibilities. I got up
early this morning and ran 8.6 miles anyway. It was a nice day for it
and - this has never happened before - I ended up running with a guy - Jim!-
for a while who was going the same direction and running about the same
pace. After about a mile, I turned left and he was continuing back again on the same bit of sidewalk. We were training for the same race, apparently, and he's planning on more of a taper than I am. I was a little
nervous about running with a stranger - and it almost never happens that you end up going the same direction at the same time as someone going the same pace as you, but it turned out fine. It's a
fairly well traveled road even at 8 am on a Sunday, after all. And I
was not sure what else to do besides slow way down and let him pass.
He went back the other direction and I turned onto a different street
and that was that!

We spent the afternoon visiting with friends. My friends' cousin just
started running recently and has gone from being slim to being almost too
slim and having to count calories so she eats enough after running.
This strikes me as being a bit unfair. Along with the fact that she's
about as fast after a few months of training as I am after 2 1/2
years. Oh well - that's the way it goes. I was thinking this
morning, too, as I was running that since I have very little natural
running talent, whatever speed I now have, I've earned the hard way and even if I am not that fast, I am still quite proud!

I found a weight loss to speed conversion tool. It's pretty cool!

http://www.runningforfitness.org/calc/weighteffect.php

Going by my times on the WDW half and the DL half, I'd say it's about right. I lost about 45 seconds per pound in the half marathon. I haven't checked any other distances.

Has anyone ever run with one of the pace teams? I have a friend who is planning to join one for the 2010 WDW 1/2 so she can get her 2 hour half marathon. I feel like the next increment is a LONG ways for me, but maybe if the weather cooperates, I could lose.....uh...13 minutes before January? I can not do all of that with weight loss, I don't think!!

Been recovering from Chip timing job in Sac, trip to DL 1/2 , and RD'ing 36 mile trail run in Tahoe last 2 weeks !

It was great chewing the fat with Jeanne at DL 1/2 for a few miles before nature called. We knockd out 14 min miles without effort and was so enjoyable! Good luck at NY :)

Hope to post more but another race we RD next week and RFTT 10K weekend after that. Don't forget F&W

Hi Cousins!

Just wanted to check in from Switzerland. Life has been quite hectic since we arrived one week ago: moving into a new apartment, getting the kids started at school, going to Ikea and building new furniture from all those boxes. Plus, of course, there's jet lag. I did manage a few short runs last week and I must say, there are some BEAUTIFUL (if not flat) places to run near our apartment: along a forrested river, up the hill through wineries and farmlands. Wow! I just need to get into the swing of things in this new place before the weather turns snowy. I am definitely not keeping up with my training routine, but I'm cutting myself a little slack, as packing up house and then moving to Switzerland has been no easy task.

We get Internet connection later this week, so it will be easier to log in then.

Take care!
Jen G

JenG - WOW! Switzerland -cool! I need to catch up with everyone...didn't know that you were moving out of the country.

Just wanted to let you know that I'm back - hopefully will be catching up with the thread and posting more often. I was out of town for most of August and fell behind in many areas of my life. Trying to get back on track and need some motivation to stick with my Goofy training plan.

Off to read back a few pages on the thread and see what I have missed.

Mel: Thanks for the offer to help with posting numbers. It's really the reminder emails/PMs that I fall behind on... Congrats on all the training you've been doing (and writing about all your training, too!) You really are doing so well in your Goofy training (as the Goofy thread indicates).

About the veggies...Smother them in tomatoe sauces and pasta dishes (but light on the cheese/creams). Lasagnas, for instance, can be chock full of veggies and taste delicious. Or bean pots with a sweet and savory sauce--something salty or with a soy or molasses base. Yummy.

Jackie: One of the benefits about deferring Baltimore is that we can actually defer our entries until next year and pay a minimal fee. Yay! There's a waiting list for the 1/2, the event in which I was registered, so I don't feel so bad. The race falls right before DOOD is scheduled to take a trip with his honors students to NYC, and that was simply too much back-to-back away from his regular job. (I don't know about you, but chaperoning college freshmen on a trip to the big city sounds like work to me. But the university doesn't quite see it that way; it's approved travel, but just barely.) Anyway, Baltimore is still in our future, for 2010.

As for your week and weekend of runs, funerals, and family drama. Big hugs, big, big hugs. It sounds as if DD's insulation is fried and she's so sensitive about everything. Of course, she's unloading on you, because that's the joy of the mother-daughter conflict. And of course, she comes to you when things go wrong. Doesn't every girl need her mommy on the bad days?   This first semester will be over quickly for you all, I hope, and be remembered for how you all got through it stronger for it.

Corinna: Congratulations on signing up for RftT. That'll be a great event, filled with WISHers (Mel, you're going, right? I know JenB is), and memory-making as the last event. "Rounding out the set," huh? That's a great way to justify the trip! Also, I've been meaning to ask you...is CASH a theater professional?

Just read your second post. You've earned every faster second, every pound lost, every success, and every inch of the way. I hope you're very proud of yourself. I know all us cousins are proud of you! :thumbsup2 I've not run with a pace team officially, but I ran near one at Cleveland. They really did help me push myself harder than I would have on my own, even though I didn't plan on sticking with them. Hope that helps.

Richard: Congrats on your Tour de Cure! You did a fabulous job--as I suspected! And it's exactly the kind of event where you want to strike up conversations rather than setting a PR, IMO. It's the bonding experience. Okay, kudos over and a mea culpa. I totally blanked out and forgot to send you my pledge. Is it too late?

JenB: Congratulations on the PR at the PDR. What a great day for the race, and a wonderful course by all accounts! I thought of all of you in Philly while I was waiting/spectating for DOOD. I hope you were able to spend some time with other WISHers as well. Did Butch's race go well?

Robert: You've been busy, busy, busy with RDing and race organization stuff. As usual, of course! Glad you and Jeanne had a chance to chat for a bit at the DL 1/2!

JenG: Switzerland already? Wow, that seems like it was super-fast. Yay for being relocating and settling in so quickly! Running with some serious jet leg--that's hard-core (taking a cue from Corinna's hard-core self, I think!) I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of your new digs and new city.

Kathy: Welcome back! Your August sounds absolutely wonderful if also very, very busy! Not that your life will get less busy with Goofy training...:rotfl2: Remember, we're here for you!

A couple of cousin shout-outs!

Jeanne: How's NYC training coming along?

Julie: Have your blister(s) healed?

Cross-Posted

As for me: Okay, so I finished my b2bs this weekend with no pain. Of course, it was just a 6/3 b2b, but I'll take pain-free any day. I'm really working on the stretching to avoid further injury, but I get so lazy about my cool downs. Somebody should kick some sense into me. I also did some XT and weight training this weekend, despite being out of town and away from my beloved gym, so I'm feeling in a groove for the beginning of the week. Yay! We'll see how that holds up with this upcoming weekend's 7/14 b2b. :rotfl:

Oh, and in a totally budget-cool moment for me. I was shopping in TJ Maxx today and found a pair of my NB 1224s on sale for $40. Can you believe it? Of course I snatched them up! :woohoo:

Mini-Ultra Report for DOOD
In the bigger news, for DOOD (yes, pronounced Dude), who's also doing the Dopey with me. Or at least on the same days.... He finished his first 50K ultra. Woo hoo. :woohoo: That's the good news.

The bad news is, there was some "slight" misrepresentation of the event. It was billed as a pavement and trail race that was friendly to both beginners and experienced ultramarathoners. Apparently, what they mean by pavement and trail was a 10% pavement/90% split. And what was friendly about the race? Well, the finishing time was 8 hours, and all the organizers and participants were very friendly....

The trails weren't really running trails--more like gullies, small ravines, paths overgrown and filled with roots, and monkey hills. Nothing like our local trails. And hills, lots and lots of steep hills everywhere. We knew something was up when a lot of the racers were wearing vertical running shirts. And the RDs give out an annual award to the "runner most injured on the course"--this year, a 25K participant broke a bone in his arm. Needless to say, this was NOT the race DOOD thought he'd signed up for, and he hadn't trained for this kind of trail/running challenge. Nor had he brought his trail running shoes...

So when I didn't see him or his friend hit the 25K point until 3:30, I knew he wasn't going to make his goal time of 5 1/2 hours. :rotfl2: t was no surprise when the fastest time for the 50K--a course record--was 4:02. I'd done a little of the trails for my run while I was spectating, and I can't believe anyone could do 50K on that course that fast. Wowsa!

Back to the good news...DOOD finished the race in 6:52:57 (and his friend in 7:23:28, as they parted ways in the last 6 miles of the course). His Garmin said his pace ranged from 4.5 mph to 8.0 mph. He wasn't as tired afterwards as he was after his training LSD, although his quads, abductors, and arms hurt. And his "dogs were barking," according to him and his feet were the only part that needed icing.

Anyway, I'm so very proud of him for toughing out a race that was entirely different from what he planned for or trained for. He had a great time, IMO, and even managed to enjoy the experience. (That said, he's not signing up for another one soon.) And to put things all into perspective...he finished 50K ultra trail run/hike/climb in less time than it took me to finish last year's marathon. :lmao: Now I think I hate him. :rotfl2::worship:

Jen B - Yeah, at the time first grade was a really big deal. Now I'd be really happy if homework and lunches were all I had to worry about! If I counted the text messages and phone calls... and I won't terrify you with the subject matter of all of them! Congratulations on your PR in Philly!

Jen G - Glad you're getting settled in your new home. What an adventure! Running in Switzerland - you HAVE to post pictures.

Kathy - Welcome back!

Corinna - I'm very grateful that I run with a Saturday group. There's no way I could get the miles in on Sunday. I sing with the choir at our early service, and we rehearse at 8:30. This past Sunday I told our choir director that we really need to rehearse in the sanctuary (on the ground floor) instead of the choir room (on the 2nd floor), since she and her husband are both training for marathons/half marathons and all three of us had done hard runs on Saturday. The stairs were killers!

As for me - (almost a cross post from the main thread) - had a fabulous run with DH tonight. Did speedwork on the track for the first time ever, and expected it to be really hard and not very speedy (at least relative for me). Turned out to be much easier than I expected, and I was much faster than I was trying to be. This training stuff really works!

Jackie

Aloha, Cousins!

Jackie -- So glad the training is paying off! It really does make a difference. I am much more confident since I know I have a base. I know I can do anything under 5 miles without a problem. I know that doesn't sound like much to you -- when I first started, I had to make myself go 1 mile! :cool1: I have no words for what you've been going through with dd, just :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Debra -- I think you are having almost as tough a semester as DOOD! That said, glad you're feeling well and congrats on the shopping coup! :3dglasses

Kathy -- Great to see you posting! Sounds like summer was busy but fun, and now Autumn is here, you can give us all the fabulous details of being out of town! :cutie:

JenG -- So impressed you're running already after the big move! Wow, I can't even imagine. I know you are going to have a wonderful stay, and look forward to fabulous photos and chocolate reviews!

Robert -- I'm so jealous! I'm going to plan a trip to food & wine at some point in the future. Have a wonderful time! popcorn::

Corinna -- I'm taking a year off from teaching Sunday School -- I have felt your pain. It's really hard to make everything work and run. I'm kind of relieved I won't have to do planning or teaching this year. I enjoy it, but I've been doing it for too many years in a row. I'm going to say it again -- I am so proud of you -- you are a great example of the right way to lose weight and be active, and we can all learn from you!

JenB -- I fondly remember first grade. DS is a sixth grader this year. DH usually takes him to school, I had to do it today since Dennis is working as an election official Julie -- Don't forget to vote!. Anyway, he actually had me walk down a different path on the sidewalk so he could cross the street, etc. by himself, and his friends would not see his mom. That was an eyeopener. :sad1: I remember when he used to hold my hand, and make it a point to kiss and hug me goodbye. No chance of that happening! :rotfl:

Richard -- Congratulations on a great race! It sounds like it was very enjoyable, and went exactly as it should have. :thumbsup2

Mel -- I can't believe it's almost the end of September already! Glad to hear you're holding up for the 8s, sounds like a breakthrough! Thanks again for your work with the shirt order, it is greatly appreciated! :dance3:

Jeanne -- How are all the wedding plans coming? You must be so busy you can barely train! You go, Girl! :cheer2:

Another maddening weekend -- we went to visit the SIL I'm not so fond of in Maine, and I was reminded of why that is the case. She wiped the bottoms of our shoes before we could enter her home. We offered to take them off, but for some reason that was not sufficient. She also would not allow us to wipe them ourselves :confused3 Her dogs seem to go in and out without that special treatment...On the bright side, she basically sent us on our way after lunch and we went to L.L. Bean. Winter coats for the fellas and a much-needed new comforter for our bed came home with us, so not a horrible trip all in all.

Anyway, not my best eating day. Sunday was some better, but no movement -- and my beloved Patriots (who I barely recognize with all the new faces) lost. I'm back to working out and have a schedule to get all my planned workouts in for the week.

The SIL I like is coming to stay tonight and Friday night (she's in New England for business), so I'm looking forward to that. She lives in FL so we don't get to see her and her family very often. She and her dh are doing the Half for the first time with us, so I'm excited to hear how her training is coming. She does not run or walk, but she's in good shape -- or at least a size 8. I'm not sure about her stamina since she doesn't exercise.

Ok, back to the paperwork that seems to be fruitful and multiply when I'm not looking...

Maria :upsidedow

Where have all the cousins gone???

For once, I have no drama to report. (Knocking on wood as I type... phone likely to ring at any moment now! :lmao:) DD made it through an entire week of college without a new crisis. We found out that we do NOT have to do a complete inventory at work, just a partial inventory, so my upcoming work week just went from 60-70 hours to a respectable 40-50. Did a 10 mile run with our group yesterday (on hills) and finished feeling like I could easily run more. In fact, went out with DH today and took the dogs for a 2 mile hike and then went back out tonight for a 2 mile run. The intention was to do an EASY 2 miles at our long run pace. We ended up doing what was basically speedwork and finished with me telling him to kill the walk breaks and just run non-stop cause I was feeling strong and wanted to see if I could do it. Not a bad weekend overall!

Maria - Trust me, I still see 5 miles as a big deal. DH and I are finally to the point where we're pushing some of our midweek runs from 3 miles to 4 and 5 miles, and my brain is having a hard time adjusting to that. It was a really big deal for me to run with the group all winter and keep my base at 10 miles on the weekend, so when the Galloway season started in May and the first runs were 3, 4, and 5 miles and we'd get back to the starting point and a group of us would go back out for another run to make our 10. My first two seasons with Galloway I looked at those people and thought "that will never happen!" It was so much fun to listen to the new members say the same thing about us when we headed back out... We've all been there at some point. Now, my goal is to be able to run a 5K without the walk breaks, hence the long run segment tonight with DH. He's promised me he'll pace me through one. I may be able to run a marathon, but I can't run a measly 5K without stopping to walk yet. That's going to be my goal for 2010!

Oh - went to an Injury Prevention Seminar Tuesday night - had an orthopedic surgeon and PT there to answer questions. He went into great detail about meniscus repairs, etc - I kept thinking about Dennis and his knee! It doesn't sound like quite as serious a surgery as I had imagined, at least the way this doc explained it... but I was still squirming in my seat.

I need to schedule some time to catch up with everyone, but I'm posting this in case you read the email subscriptions instead of the boards....forgive the cross-posting!

From Mousesavers...

7-for-4 or 7-for-5 Package Offer for November 2009 - March 2010

Now you can purchase a fantastic buy 4, get 7 or buy 5, get 7 vacation package offer valid for stays November 1 - December 24, 2009 through January 3 - March 27, 2010.

Here are the details:

Buy a 4-night/4 day vacation package at a MODERATE, DELUXE or DELUXE VILLA resort, get a 7-night/7-day package. That's 3 FREE hotel nights and 3 extra days on your theme park admission tickets, equivalent to a 43% discount on your room and tickets! You must buy a package that includes at least 4 nights' accommodations at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel plus minimum 4-day Magic Your Way Base Tickets to qualify for the 3 FREE nights and the 3 extra days on your tickets.

Buy a 5-night/5 day vacation package at a VALUE resort, get a 7-night/7-day package. That's 2 FREE hotel nights and 2 extra days on your theme park admission tickets, equivalent to a 29% discount on your room and tickets! You must buy a package that includes at least 5 nights' accommodations at a Walt Disney World Resort hotel plus minimum 5-day Magic Your Way Base Tickets to qualify for the 2 FREE nights and the 2 extra days on your tickets.

Extra days on a ticket don't cost that much, so the primary savings are on the hotel room portion, so the higher category hotels offer the most total savings.

To calculate your approximate savings on a "buy 4, get 7" package at a Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort:

  • Multiply the room rate (2009 or 2010) times 3 (savings of 3 nights' room rate).
  • Add $9.58 per person (ticket savings for the 3 extra days).
  • The total is your savings.

To calculate your approximate savings on a "buy 5, get 7" package at a Value resort:

Multiply the room rate (2009 or 2010) times 2 (savings of 2 nights' room rate).
  • Add $6.39 per person (approx ticket savings for the 2 extra days).
  • The total is your savings.
  • You can stay longer than 7 nights (up to 10 nights) with this package, but there is a maximum of 3 free nights and 3 extra days per ticket, per stay, if you will be staying in a Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort, or 2 free nights and 2 extra days per ticket, per stay, if you will be staying in a Value resort.

You can stay less than 7 nights, but you still must purchase 4 nights at a Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort, or 5 nights at a Value resort, so you'll end up with fewer free nights/extra days. The minimum total stay to make this offer worthwhile at all would be 5 nights at a Moderate, Deluxe or Deluxe Villa resort, or 6 nights at a Value resort. Obviously a 7-night stay is the best deal!

You can add the Quick Service Dining Plan for 2009 or 2010, the regular Dining Plan for 2009 or 2010, or the Deluxe Dining Plan for 2009 or 2010, but you will pay full price for your dining plan (no free days of dining).

The package includes standard Magic Your Way Base Tickets. You can upgrade them with the Park Hopper, Water Parks & More and/or No Expiration option(s), but you'll pay the regular price for those upgrades.

This offer cannot be applied to the Premium or Platinum packages or to "split stays" (for example, 4 nights at one hotel, 3 nights at another).

You must book this special package by 12/20/09.

Thanks so much for posting this deal, Debra.

From my point of view it's too bad Disney waited so long to do this because I have already made other (and better) plans at a lower cost to me. However, I am sure many others will take advantage of this deal. I would have loved to stay at the Poly or Contemporary, but instead I'll "suffer" through a week in an OKW 2 BR through a timeshare trade (which will cost me less in the long run and be nicer) and then hope to meet many DISers at the Pop Century Resort for the marathon days.

I'll be there at OKW 2BR Jan 2-9, and at POP 2 rooms Jan 9-11.

Today I paid off the 2 days at Pop!!!

And a side note for my DIS friends, fellow WISHers and Ohana teammates, I am now considered merely overweight as I have dropped below 210 lbs (starting at 263 lbs) and finally getting below 30% BMI. Of course I may not yet quite admit this in full public, but we're all friends and family here.

Hello cousins!

Just popping in for a brief update. Life has been super busy....mostly good, but I did have a little health scare that knocked me out of commission for almost a week. Thankfully, it seems to be resolved and I am back on track.

Training for NYC is going very well. I have only my 20-miler left, then taper and....... SHOWTIME! Ican't believe it is only 4.5 weeks away! I have been doing a little speedwork on Tuesdays. Today I ran 2 miles non-stop in 24:42! NOT that I plan to run on race day. I just know that at some point the sweep bus (which doesn't REALLY sweep, just opens the road to traffic) is going to be right on my a$$ and I am going to fight it every step of the way....even it it means I'll have to run! Right now I am so ready for this....bring it ON!!!!
I actually leave for NY tomorrow for 5 days. John has a conference and I am going along to spend some time with my kiddies. Thursday evening we have a private dinner party at the Museum of Natural History which I am really looking forward to. Friday morning the conference is hosting a 5K fun run in Central Park so I have signed up for that just to refresh my memory on what he terrain is like there. I also need to find a restaurant where we can go with the entire family and significant others right after the marathon....busy, busy.

The wedding is getter fatter and Greeker by the moment. We are now up to 10 bridal attendants.....50% from HIS family! OK, if you include the bride and her parents (us!) that makes 13 in a limo that's supposed to hold 12! (Ditto for his side.) I'm thinking big dresses, big hair, big parents......oy vey! My life is such a sit-com. Case in point: my daughter and the Greek came home last weekend and so we went to speak with photographers. My lovely child poceeds to tell the photographer, "Make sure you get lots of photos of my mom early on....she tends to get wasted easily!" :scared1: And Jackie thinks she has issues!

OK that's it......gotta go get my nails done.....I have such a hard life!
