Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

Dinner turned out okay. I watched my portions and am happy with what I ate.

A bonus QOTD for Sat., 2/18: In light of the HHs being a focus on basics and our future, what is one thing you can do today, being a Saturday, to help make the week smoother?

This may be a repeat, but I think it's a good one worth repeating. :goodvibes

Make a menu and deep clean the kitchen. We were doing really well with both and then it started to slide. I've noticed dinners have suffered and we've been eating out a lot again.
So that's my goal for tomorrow. Today we are going to the RV show in Springfield.

Back on track! Did 30 minutes on the treadmill last night. Really should have tried some stuff on the bowflex - but that thing kinda scares me!
I am good with the eating today....fruit, yogurt, ham sandwich and carrots for lunch. I hope I don't ruin it with dinner tonight as I am meeting a friend to catch up!
Tomorrow morning - GYM! Really need to do something new, wish I liked their classes....

Great job getting back on track...I am soooooo trying to get there as well!

Lurking about just wanted to say hello to all those I've challeneged with before. I've had a broken computer for months. I finally got it fixed and a HUGE upgrade. Found this site to be EXTREMELY slow compared to any others but just editing options I cut down from all posts to only the past 75 days worth and its so much faster. I may rejoin in the challenge at some point. Just back to tracking my food on myfitnesspal semi-regularly this past week. Now to get some daily(or near so) exercise going again. I've been really really enjoying The dance Wii games. We have Michael Jackson The Experience and Just Dance 3 and it just doesn't seem like I'm working out because its fun and I don't realize all the time that has passed. We will all do 3 hours and not even feel bored with it. And I work up a great sweat.

Welcome back!!! I too am getting back on track. Let's do this together! I like the Wii too, great suggestion, I will get my girls to keep me moving today!

Hope you are all well and shrinking nicely.
:rotfl2:

:headache: Ugh! I so need to get back on track but I'm so stressed right now!

Our family is moving next month - with all of the stress that entails - and just got the word that my office will be moving in April to a tiny little space where the only bathroom will be in my boss's office and I'll be sharing a dormer space in the attic with a coworker.

Right now we're in an office with 3 bathrooms and I have a large, sunny office to myself....talk about downsizing! Oh and here's the kicker - the space doesn't have any kitchen area so the boss said he'll make a counter in the bathroom to put in a microwave and mini-fridge. :rolleyes2 So now I'm thinking I need to change jobs.

QOTD 2/16 - If money & time weren't an issue, would you rather spend a week or two at Biggest Loser Ranch, or on a dream vacation?

Vacation!

Yuc Yuc Yuc about your job!! Something like this can really change your outlook! Hope it works out better than expected!

Good Luck with the move! It is stressful to pack up but I love the clean after a move!!! Getting rid of all the junk, cleaning up all the cabinets etc!!!

Maybe I should just pretend we are moving!! lol

Dang it I'm up a pound again. Up and down up and down....
I'm going to skip the gym today, I need to do some shopping. Was sore yesterday--especially my right thigh (???) so decided to swim and had trouble with my new cap. I accidentally got the kids size, was going to take it back but decided to try it because I kind of have a small head--but nope. So I donated it to the free table there. I need to go get another one. I think I need to get another ugly bubble cap because they have the straps, which I hate (why can't they be snaps or something less complicated) so it will stay on my head. I always rinse my hair out and put conditioner in before I swim so I don't think any other cap will work for me and my long hair.
Think I'll blame the gain on a really good spiral ham I got for .79 a lb. at work. Otherwise I've been drinking my water, working out every day, haven't over eaten.. Oh-- husband made brownies too, of which I've only had little tiny portions of in the morning with my coffee, but I guess it adds up. Weather's been crappy and unreliable so no bike rides. Highlight of the week was a lady at the pool who was much younger than me complimented my breasts lol. She said-- I'm not trying to come on to you but I want your breasts...best Valentines Day present ever...:rotfl2:

BEST Valentines is right!!! Hop on my Get back on the track with me!!! Seems to be a theme this week!!!

I think...you should all get up right now and go to your grocery store (preferrably WalMart) and....

GET A YOPLAIT SMOOTHIE KIT!!!!!!

They are awesome and on WW they are 2 points if you don't put anything in them besides skim milk (I put PB in my Chocolate and Banana smoothie - making it closer to 5 points).

They are in the frozen fruit section, and if you like chocolate, and have cravings.......they are the best...

Ok I'm done ranting. :) P.S. They come in a bag.

Ok, I am off to get it one!!! Sounds good!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Okay CC beat me to listing the QOTD, but it is a good one!!!

I am going to go to the grocery!!!!!!!!! I am getting the smoothie and getting healthy foods and planning DINNERS. If I plan dinner I do SOOO much better than if I wait til the 11th hour! Thanks for the motivation and reminder!!!

Happy Healthy Weekend everyone!!!!!!!!!!!
:cheer2: Go Team Mickey!!

I have been wanting to try these! But I am cheap and I found this on Pinterest so thought I would just make my own instead: http://www.thetidynest.com/2010/09/...ed&utm_campaign=Feed:+TheHagans+(THE+HAGANS)/ Of course I haven't so I should probably just go and buy the Yoplait ones. Especially if they have chocolate. My kids love smoothies so I really do need to to try the homemade bag kits for them.

A bonus QOTD for Sat., 2/18: In light of the HHs being a focus on basics and our future, what is one thing you can do today, being a Saturday, to help make the week smoother?
Getting a menu and grocery list made. We are almost at the end of our last menu plan so time to work on the next one. DH is going to have an unpredictable schedule for the next month or so which means I will have to be able to cook, or at least be able to change the plan at the last minute to something that I can cook if he can't get home in time. I would really like to do some Freezer cooking but he thinks it is a silly idea. We buy meat in bulk at Costco and freeze it in individual portions when we get home. I have tried to get him to add a marinade to it at that time but he just . But we need chicken and the quality of the IQF chicken I have been getting has gone way down so I am going to have to get some "fresh". I think I am going to do some looking today for recipes I can make ahead with that, since I am the main chicken chef in the house anyway. Then I go shopping and get what I need and have a "cooking day" on Tuesday. It would actually be a fun thing to do with my girls but it is probably best if I start out doing it by myself and see how it goes over!

:wave2:

Been a week. :sad2: Thursday I had the mother of all PMS days-- without it actually being a PMS episode! I was tired and cranky and didn't even want to be around myself. I felt bad that I was so crabby but my family is smart and they all just left me alone! It is amazing how well my girls get along together when they know I could snap at any moment!

I went to bed early and was back to normal yesterday. Today is house and room cleaning along with laundry and whatever else I figure out I have to do. My girls are off cleaning. Everyone is off on Monday so we are going to try to find something fun to do. I have a few Groupons for things so hopefully we can do one of those.

So I was studying the nutrition information on bacon this morning. Been using Turkey bacon but I really don't like it.:crazy2: I have regular bacon for the rest of the family. And I had read something on Hungry Girl about how Center Cut bacon isn't all that much different from Turkey bacon. The numbers are interesting, especially if you consider that with a bacon serving size the number of slices you have on your plate means more to you than the weight. All of the serving sizes are around 15g but with regular bacon that is 2 slices (14g) and with Turkey bacon that is 1 slice (15g). When you break down the numbers there is really not a whole lot of difference between one slice of regular or one slice of Turkey bacon. Calories, total fat, sat fat, protein and carbs are exactly the same! One slice of regular bacon has less sodium and less cholesterol ( because by weight one slice is half the size of one slice of Turkey bacon). I find this very interesting because I have always said that I would rather have LESS of the stuff I like than substitute something "healthier" that I don't like. If you use one slice of Center Cut Bacon the numbers are actually BETTER than Turkey bacon-- less fat and more protein! And of course my WOE is all about lower fat and higher protein.

I think I may continue to use the Turkey bacon in things like omelets and salads where I am going more for that overall smoky bacon taste and crunch, but for just plain eating I am going to go back to regular bacon and limit it to that one slice. And as my DH has pointed out the regular bacon actually looses a lot of fat when it is cooked so when all is said and done it may end up being very similar to the Turkey Bacon. I think I am going to experiment by weighing some regular, then cooking it and weighing it again.

Have to run clean the kitchen.

A bonus QOTD for Sat., 2/18: In light of the HHs being a focus on basics and our future, what is one thing you can do today, being a Saturday, to help make the week smoother?

Well, Alan is busy taking care of stuff outside and my mom is gone. So I'm going to take the opportunity to crank some tunes and get some batch cooking done. I was going to do taxes today but I went ahead and did them yesterday. Between doing those, refiguring a budget, and taking care of student loan issues I was busy for about 3 hours yesterday.

Going to straighten up our bedroom and at some point get a workout in. I also need to figure out what's for dinner.

On a good note Alan found my photo albums!!! This may not seem like a big deal to a lot of people but I've been looking for them for almost a year. They are the only pictures I have of Josh and Maddie so you can imagine the stress this has caused me over this long time frame. He was out in the garage going through some Rubbermaid bins and found them in the bottom of one. They were covered up by sleeping bags. I told him that he had just totally made my year!

I don't know about you guys but I keep all of the PMs I send to DVCcruiser that have my weight in them every week. I have them as far back as October 14th of last year. I wrote them all down (with dates) and it was nice to see the pattern. 98 percent of the time I was reporting a loss but there were 3 times were I gained. I'm going to plug these numbers into a spreadsheet and continue to keep track of them.

I'm down .8 this week

Everyone have a great OP day!

At Albertsons this weekend we have a coupon for the bacon that makes it $2.69 a lb. I work in the meat dept. and whenever we have a deal like this and I'm filling a pan I'll set aside all the leanest stuff and buy it. It freezes really well. It's also some of the best bacon you'll ever have.

Gonna go work out now--it's sunny, but this time a year it can be fairly unpredictable-- don't want to be caught in a downpour on my bike. :sad2:

Good morning TEAM MICKEY! ::MickeyMo

Sorry I've been MIA this week due to falling and injuring my back. This was just another accident inside so I hope that I am done with that for awhile. :thumbsup2
I hope you are ok and that you heal quickly and completely! How is your running going since Tink? I hope you can get back out there right away!

Hi Lisa!!!! :wave2:

I've already scored on the HH this week. No such thing as mass transit out here in the middle of nowhere. Besides, I drive a diesel SUV and I average the same miles per gallon that my mom does in her ford focus.

Ok, gotta run if I'm going to hit the treadmill before I get kids. 1/2 day today so I'm in a time crunch. Then I have to pack DS15 for Quebec. I'm sending my baby out of the country for a school trip!!! It's exciting and scary at the same time.

Good work on the HH already! That is great when you can just get on the mini challenges like that right away! :thumbsup2

I have kids travelling out of the country with school trips this year as well. It's a little scary but also a good thing. My DD17 is going to Germany for almost all of July as an exchange student (we had our student at the beginning of this school year) and my DDs who will be 13 and 12 at the time will be going to Ireland in June with their chorus and I get to go as a chaperone! I'm pretty excited about that.
Afternoon ::MickeyMo

I don't feel like I've been on here a lot or on my Sparkpeople account. I've lost my routine since my mom has been here. I woke up this morning and felt like I had been by a cement truck. I laid back down for another half an hour and then took some hydrocodone. I've not worked out in a few days (other then walking around MK on Monday and Tuesday) and my legs are hurting. My meds are kicking in so hoping I can get at least 45 minutes in sometime later today.

My mom finally got her flowers today. That was a nightmare and long story short I will never use 1800 flowers or FTD ever again. I've been trying to get flowers for her since the 13th of February.

I'm going to spend tomorrow getting tax stuff together so I can finally sit down and file them. UGHH... I'm also going to do some batch cooking tomorrow. I made a dozen muffins today but with Alan and my mom here I don't know how long they will last. I wish there was a flavor that only I liked so then i could make a ton of them and they not be gone in a few days .

Oh, and on a good note we finally got our washer and dryer sold! We had a brand new set come with our house when we bought it. Well considering I had just bought a brand new set 6 months prior we didn't need them. I tucked that money away in my savings account.

I'll be back on later to catch up. I need to get off my duff and get some stuff done.
I hope your routine gets back to normal very quickly!

I feel sick to my stomach again today. :headache: I have no idea why. My eating has been OP and GF. :confused3 I was hoping to go to the gym today too. I'm not sure if I will make it there, but I might. I could do the recumbent bike again.

My father is making dinner tonight. It will be GF, but not as OP as I would like. We're having beef stew. If I stick to carrots and avoid the potatoes, I will likely be ok.

I woke up and got a few things done, but then fell back to sleep for at least 2 hours. I'm going to get my day started now. :rotfl2:

Have a great day Mickeys!
Hope you feel better soon and you get your workout in!
Back on track! Did 30 minutes on the treadmill last night. Really should have tried some stuff on the bowflex - but that thing kinda scares me!

Great job on the treadmill! Yeah, that Bowflex can look a bit scary I think, but just try out one exercise on it, next time do that exercise again, and add another one. Pretty soon you will have a whole circuit on there that is very comfortable to you.

Vacation!
Wow--the bathroom/kitchen combo sounds like a deal breaker! can you ask your boss if a table for the microwave and fridge can be put on a table in a common area?

I think...you should all get up right now and go to your grocery store (preferrably WalMart) and....

I definitely want to try that! Its hard to find stuff for 2 points that is good.

YAY on the photo albums! That is awesome! :cool1: And on the loss! I love the idea about tracking weight on a spreadsheet. I keep mine in a note on my phone every morning, but a spreadsheet might be nice.

Just came across an interesting Recipe Blog and wanted to share. I see a bunch of stuff I want to try. There are lots of vegan and Gluten Free recipes:
http://fooddoodles.com/recipes/

I am checking out this site right now!! Thanks for posting!

QOTD: With the kids on vacation this coming week I decided to get some cleaning done. We went out to lunch and then Brian took the kids to see Star Wars 3D. I wanted to get some cleaning done and have some time to myself. I watched Water for Elephants which I really liked and then watched Grey's Anatomy. I still need to finish Private Practice.

Off to take care of my friend's dog again with Ashleigh!

TTFN :tigger:

Well, the BluePrintCleanse was a success. I am down about two pounds in the three days of cleansing (net). I lost 4 pounds but after a day of eating my normal food again I am down 2 pounds. They say the goal of the cleanse isn't weight loss (but who are they kidding--I think that is the underlying innuendo of the whole site), but to clean out and "reset" your system. I feel that that has been done. I don't crave sweets like before, and I don't have the desire to eat a lot of anything, but more "normal" portions. I was at a plateau and this was a good thing for me. They messed up and sent me enough juice for two 3-day cleanses. I called them and they told me to keep it or throw it away. So... after the one day off yesterday, I am doing another 3 day cleanse. I am not sure I am going to do 3 days, maybe just 2, depending on how my body feels. I am running tomorrow, and if I don't feel the energy I need I will end it tomorrow. I hate for the juice to go to waste but it can't be a detriment to how I feel. A lot of people do 10 day cleanses without any down days. I can't imagine doing that. This is my first cleanse.

I have had a cold and now am about over it. I am feeling better and hope the good feelings just continue. I only got to work out twice last week (Monday -Spin and Friday-an almost 3 mile run/walk). That run/walk felt like crap... I was just still so under the weather, but desperately needed to get outside. I felt soooo much better after I cooled down from the run. So, my future mantra is going to be: WHEN IN DOUBT, GET OUT (doors).

I hope everyone is having a great OP weekend.

My kids are off school next week, too, like a lot of you. We aren't going out of town or anything. My plan is to get this whole house cleaned right! I have just been letting it go too much.

I would also like to make a menu plan like a lot of you have mentioned. That sounds like a major key to success! Thanks everyone for posting what is working for you! It really helps me! :cool1::thumbsup2

A bonus QOTD for Sat., 2/18: In light of the HHs being a focus on basics and our future, what is one thing you can do today, being a Saturday, to help make the week smoother?

Today was a mom drama-filled day. She wanted to go out to dinner, but couldn't decide on a place. We'd talk about an option and then we'd look at the menu. She would consider it and then after I looked for something GF, she'd rule it out. To find something GF, I often have to scrutinize the menu. She'd then realize that nothing appealed to her. "I don't want Italian." "Too much fried food." etc., etc. :headache: What made it more annoying is that the problem with being GF and going to a restaurant isn't that there aren't any options. The problem (for me at least) is that it's not worth the cost. You pay for the sauce whether you can eat it or not. One restaurant we considered had a good number of GF options, but they are things that my parents and/or I can make. We prefer to go out to dinner for something different. The other problem is that there are very few restaurants near where we live. Any good options were about 30 minutes away and we couldn't justify the drive. In the end, we had chicken stir fry and rice. My did overdid the garlic, but otherwise it was fine and much healthier than going out for dinner would have likely been.

A little while ago mom started in with how I don't exercise. It is so difficult to go to the gym over the weekend because I feel like I have to be at her side. I try to go as often as possible during the week, but it's hard to go when I'm sick to my stomach. I still didn't feel well enough to go yesterday, so I haven't went since Wednesday. To answer the QOTD, I have decided to write out my exercise plan for the week. I am also going to do some meal planning for breakfasts and lunches. Dinners are more up in the air as my parents are involved, but I'm slated to do the grocery shopping on Monday so I will have some say in dinners for the week.

Hope that everyone has a great, OP Sunday! :goodvibes

Well I walked a mile and a half on the treadmill, it took about 50 minutes. Man, that was a workout! I was sweating my butt off. Well, after that I didn't do much of anything, it wore me out. I went online and ordered Smokey Bones for dinner and Alan went and picked it up. We watched the Breakfast Club while we ate. I know I'll probably get bashed for this  but I thought it was a boring movie. I know when I tell my mom that tomorrow she'll probably disown me, LOL.

Alan has been busy today getting things organized and up in our attic. He's outside right now finishing up the little bit that's left. I'll veg out for a little while longer and probably head to bed. I want to get up early in the morning and get the cooking done that I didn't do today. Hope everyone has an awesome Sunday!

I'll be shooting for an OP Sunday because I did *not* have an OP Saturday! But that was expected, and I kind of gave myself license to cut loose, especially with a big loss in the books this week.

Today was DD5's birthday party at the big bouncy house with all her buddies. It was an early party, so I just had a couple of bananas for breakfast and then had one slice of pizza (cheese, Domino's) and one itty bitty piece of cake at the party. I was saving it all for dinner, which we did at our favorite restaurant with my dad and my MIL. I ate and ate and ate. And then I had a piece of my homemade birthday cake when we got home.

And now I'm done. I'm calling it right here, and I'll be back OP tomorrow, even though I know I can't work out until the evening. DD5 has another party tomorrow (for friends also turning 5), but I'm going to have an early dinner of a Subway sandwich so I'm not tempted by the pizza at that party.

I'm just glad my WW weigh-in isn't until Tuesday! A couple of good solid OP days will hopefully let me maintain this week even after today...

And DD5 is now 5! She's one very happy, and very tired, little girl. From Valentine's Day on Tuesday to her actual birthday on Thursday to her big party today, she's been going full-on for days. If I thought she'd actually sleep in tomorrow, I might skip church, but I know she and DD7 will be up just as early as usual, so off we go. Then we're taking them to see "The Secret Life of Arietty," which I'm just as psyched to see as they are. Then we'll have a little down time before I take her to the other party. What a weekend...

OK, so not the best today food wise but I think I went up and down my stairs about 20 times!!!!

I got the dining room done except for vacuuming which we will do tomorrow before our Disney Trip planning get together! Made a list tonight of restaurants we want to eat at, a possible schedule of where to go on which days and what we still need to buy and book! My desk still needs work but that can wait until a day that I am alone as I also need to organize stuff for taxes!

Bringing back the dog that we are watching to our house for the next 2 nights. I think she is lonely and I think the girls will love having her here. Her name is Grace and she's a Goldendoodle! She is CRAZY but we discovered that what we need to do to calm her down is give her a belly rub! She was in heaven and that was the only time that she sat still!

Well, need to head to bed so I can get up and go take care of the dog at around 7 in the morning. We will bring her back here around 5 tomorrow afternoon!

Have a great night!

I'll be shooting for an OP Sunday because I did *not* have an OP Saturday! But that was expected, and I kind of gave myself license to cut loose, especially with a big loss in the books this week.

Sounds like a super fun weekend! And that is LIFE! You are back on plan now and that is all that matters! Happy birthday to your daughter! What a fun time!

Congrats on your workout! That is great! Keep it up!

Sounds like a very productive day! Good luck with the dog!

hi teammates! finally hitting up this thread while i have a second (one kid napping, the other having lunch) to say hi!

i had a nice woosh on the scale this week after a crummy week or so of weighing in. we are going to WDW on 5/19 and i would really like to be 145 when we get there. 145 puts me back in the "normal" area of bmi. i have 7-8 lbs to lose to get there. i started the challenge at 162.5 so i'm happily plugging along.

a question for my fellow runners - melindaruns, myweegirls (right?), lisah, maria - at what point do you guys start taking in food and water on your runs? do you drink/eat after a certain amount of time run or after you hit a certain mile? i ran 5 miles today and after 3 miles i really felt thirsty. of course i didn't have water with me. as my long runs get longer i need to make sure i have water with me!

Can I answer this even though I am thread crashing?;)

I carry water if the temps are over 65 (no matter the distance) or if the distance is over 4 miles no matter the temps.

I carry energy (clif bloks, etc) for distances over 6 miles.

A good practice is to weigh yourself before and after to see how much fluid you are losing.

Here is an article on hydration:
http://www.hartfordmarathon.com/Assets/Training+Program/ProperHydrationForDistanceRunning.pdf

I also take endurolytes for distances over 6 miles or if the temps are above 80. I have found this is the best way to keep my electrolyes in balance--and thus avoid nausea at the end of runs. I am all about avoiding nausea!:thumbsup2

Hope this helps!

Hi all,

Doing our planning over the phone with our friends. She's not feeling well her hubby forgot to put a boy scout meeting on the calendar.

Ordered our park tickets today. Ashleigh and her BFF are going to take a class through the YES program at Disney. It's a class about ocean careers that is 3hours long. The cool thing is that it allowed us to purchase tickets for A LOT less money. We saved over $500 on 7 day park hopper tickets!!!! Check it out on the budget boards. SOOOO worth it!!!! I'd sit through a 3 hour class to save that much money!

Going to catch up on some shows with Brian and then go get the dog and bring her back here until early Tuesday morning. That way she won't be alone and we can take her for lots of walks. I think she'll like that. Hoping she doesn't go too crazy when she gets here! Girls are getting the downstairs all straightened and organized for her visit. I've got the gates in the car.

Hi! I don't have any advice about the water intake, I wanted to say good job on your weight loss! We started out about the same and i would like to be 142 by the time of my trip which is 5/12. That's 14 more pounds for me which is a little over a pound a week. PS: reading your post inspired me to go get on the treadmill, so that's what I'm going to go do. I was going to try and take a nap since DD is napping, but I'd probably lay there and not be able to fall asleep!

I'm just so glad I still managed a .5 loss this week! I was so totally not OP with V-Day and stress eating. :headache: But yesterday was better and today I'm OP so far...so good.

I'm going to get moving for at least 20 minutes today (really sore from yesterday, so just going to loosen up a bit) but tomorrow I'll hit the gym because I have the day off - woot! :woohoo: Go Big or Go Home!
