Team Mickey - Biggest Loser "No Excuses" 2012 Challenge

So, half of you are planning lunch, and I'm just getting moving here in NM.

Looks like a nice day, maybe windy, but here in the spring a 35mph breeze is an everyday thing. And the sand blows EVERYWHERE!!

If it's not too bad, I'm hoping to coerce someone into walking the hills with me. Did my 10th 5k in 20 days at the gym last night. Being at 1mile up is WAY different than at sea level in FL. Boy was my heart applauding when I kicked the treadmill up to 5.5 for about a minute!

QOTD - 2/11 - Staying with romance a bit longer.......What is your favorite romantic movie?

I have a couple....if classics, Pride & Prejudice or Wuthering Heights. DD & I can watch P&P every week and not tire of it. She has every version made of all the Austen stuff. If more contemporary, Must Love Dogs. Definitely a favorite of mine.

Hope everyone is off to a good weekend!

Not a good day today. Nearly got into a smackdown at the gym with some chick that was holding all the free weights while she went off to do something else. "I brought my own from home!" Um, honey, those weights have LA FITNESS on the side of them!!
Then, I weight myself and I am up.....and the groupon I got for the GNC store can't be used until Monday - UGH!!!

QOTD - Romantic movie?
AOTD - I don't really watch these. But maybe Last of the Mohicans....

Super behind in everything, but am caught up on reading here. Way to go Mickeys! I am the same this week which is a bummer because at Wednesday's "peek" I was down. Oh well. It's fun losing the same pounds over and over again :rotfl2: Way behind on my exercise but got one run in earlier this week and will do another one here in a bit.

DSs played their last regular season basketball game last night. Both squeaked out wins. Only 3 more games for DS2. Not sure about DS1. They go into league playoffs. Hope they do well. Baseball games officially start in one month. DH and I are already bemoaning the loss of a timed, indoor event! :sad1:

Have a great weekend everyone!

I hate those people who hog equipment-- and the mats. My biggest pet peeve is when they just sit on some piece of equipment and take a break or have a conversation with someone...and I'm waiting for it. Or when they don't use the elliptical right--when I'm waiting for it. OK you people the thing is supposed to make you move your arms too-- there's about 5 other machines that will do what you want if you want to read a magazine or dink with your cell phone-- stop hogging my machine! it makes me nuts when I see people on the 2 we have and not use their arms because there is 4 other machines that are steppers. And then there are the mat hoggers. Honestly I like to stretch on the mats but i only need them for a certain stretch really and I do 3 exercises for my back on them but that's it. Seriously if you're going to do your whole workout on the mat-- you may as well stay at home.

Well-- you all know I'm somewhat of a movie freak-- here's a sort of old list that I tweaked some so order is not necessarily right:

1. Phantom of the Opera , ah the music, the visuals, the story, Gerry Butler...
2. Edward Scissorhands, Johnny Depp and unrequited love my favorite kind
3., Twilight—not just the first one the whole enterprise—movies & books
4. Sid & Nancy, Not for Everyone, have been fascinated with story since it happened. Gary Oldman fantastic.
5. The Notebook
6. Starman, Jeff Bridges, Karen allen- I love the 'good' alien movies
7. Lets Make Love, Marilyn Monroe, Yves Montand, Marilyn is so cute in this
8. Benny & Joon, The definitive Depp movie
9. The Illusionist—Ed Norton
10. Moulin Rouge, don't care for it as a musical but love it as a romance
11. Xanadu, Yes I am aware already my daughter and I are the only people in the universe to love Xanadu
12. Love Actually, follows many couples around christmas time all the stories entwining.
13. Moonstruck,Cher, Nicholas Cage
14. Notting Hill, Julia Roberts, Hugh Grant
15. The Holiday
16. Bridget Jones Diary, Aaaahhh Colin Firth
17. Tarzan of Greystoke, Andie McDowell playing Jane
18. Meet Joe Black, Interesting premise, Anthony Hopkins, Brad Pitt,
19. Lady and the Tramp, spaghetti scene ;-)
20. How to Marry a Millionaire, I know it's more a comedy but each 3 ladies are following their own love story, MM, Grable, Bacall.
21. Sabrina / Audrey Hepburn
22. As Good As it Gets, I like that the romantic love interest is not your disney character.
23. Sabrina / Harrison Ford
24. Pride and Prejudice--the mini series with Colin Firth need I say more?
25. Somewhere in Time, The late Christopher Reeve, period piece
26. Mary Reilley—yeah Malkovich
27. City of Angels, Nicholas Cage interesting angel
28. Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, mostly loved her everchanging hair I think
29. My Big Fat Greek Wedding
30. Don Juan DeMarco, Depp, Brando, Dunaway

If I were actually wanting to watch any of these right now I'd probably opt for Pride and Prejudice--the mini series.

BTW rented Source Code last night and that was pretty good.

Evening all,

Ash's team lost today but you win some you lose some. I think she played her best game. The team was much better than us and we weren't totally surprised they beat us. Not sure who won the finale.

Took a nap this afternoon and we are just hanging out catching up on shows on the TIVO and eating.

Took Ash to the dr yesterday and she will be starting some anxiety meds tonight. We have to try to get her stress under control. ALso had a mole checked on her neck that the dr isn't concerned about but going to see a dermatologist anyways. Actually taking both girls as Izzie has something different on her ear. Spent yesterday running around. Got to TJs and tried some of their new finger type foods.

Going to switch to some organic milk and see if that helps Ash at all along with watching what she eats and drinks all the time. She is such a sweet kid but gets so frustrated so easily and just can't seem to control it. Seeing a counselor in a few weeks as well.

Not sure what else we are doing tonight. Probably pick out a movie and may pick out a game to play too. Just needed a quiet night at home. Got church in the morning and then Ash has to work on a project and then we have to visit a friend.

Brian and I are going to get some new frying pans on Monday. The ones I used to make pancakes this morning did not work out well. ALso need some new laundry baskets.!

Time to sign off for today! I still need to send in my weigh in. Not sure how it will be!

OOOHHHHH!! I would want to STRANGLE her! And groupon, you REALLY have to watch the dates - I have felt so stupid several times trying to use too early. Hope your weekend gets better!

Hoping you have a good rest of the weekend and that Ash gets some relief from Drs and counseling - you, too!! hang in there!

Interesting day. I could not wake up and I felt like I had a fever. The thermometer didn't agree. :rotfl2: Oh well, I was fine by mid-afternoon.

Today was pretty much OP. I think I did okay. I am having computer problems and using MFP wasn't going smoothly. I will try again after I post here. I couldn't reply earlier either. :headache:

Tracey: Hope Ash is doing better quickly. Please give her  from me. She is such a great kid!

We've been posting some great NSVs! :woohoo:

I had a loss this week, but not enough to cover the gain I had last week. Just keep swimmin'

We made a trip to Wally World tonight and I got something I am hoping will make it easier to use my iPod while exercising. I really want to get through the first 4 weeks of C25K and it would be much easier if I had music and timing done for me. My plan is to get through Week 4 and then reassess. I am definitely expecting to need to use run/walk intervals. Even at Weeks 1 and 2 that helps me emotionally (and physically too) so I am definitely A-ok with that!

I didn't end up eating last night and then I woke up really hungry this morning. I am hungry now and I think I will eat something small. I had some strawberries with lunch and will likely have some more now.

Have a great Sunday everyone!

I am right there with ya. If all you are gonna do is sit ups on a mat, you can do that at home! Give me a break!

Romantic movie - I did go see The Vow tonight and really liked it. Of course the tickets were free, so that was good!

Free movies are always good! DD20 works at a theater & on Tuesdays can take any/all family members for free - I have yet to see a single movie for free with her! :confused3 And the rest of the time, she can take 1 person at a time to a movie - could be a different person or the same every showing of any day, but just one at a time. Great perks!

Lol - Thanks!:goodvibes
Congrats Sunshineminnie!

Good morning Mickey's! I maintained this week. My allergies are bad right now and I am not on plan with anything. Darn crazy weather!

Today is catch up on cleaning. Too cold to go out anyway.

Have a great weekend all!!!:goodvibes

I just wanted to give a shout out to those that started this BL challenge to say THANKS!

I sold my business (I was a senior and children's portrait photographer for 20 years, very physical job moving props, changing sets, never sitting down), went on a cruise (ate like a maniac, gained about 5 pounds), turned 40 (I swear my metabolism instantly slowed down:lmao:) and generally just sat around and ate poorly. I have slowly been gaining weight (about 2 or 3 pounds a year). Well, after 4 years plus the cruise weight, I found myself about 13 pounds over what I have been all of my adult life. I know that 13 pounds doesn't sound like a lot, but I was tired all of the time, generally felt like crud, and just not happy with myself. Also, I knew that if I kept up this upward trend, I would see myself 20, 30, 40 pounds overweight.

I have half heartedly tried to lose weight, exercise more, eat better and everything on and off. My heart really wasn't in it and therefore it never worked. I ran into this challenge awhile ago and thought "why not give it a try?" I'm not sure why this has worked so well for me... but it has. I joined the healthy habits and WIN and found my fitness pal. I think that really seeing my numbers and eating habits opened my eyes!

I have had great success at the Healthy Habits! Have found new fun ways to exercise (I'm having a ball) and after recording everything in my fitness pal, am eating soooo much better!

The results: I FEEL SOOOOO MUCH BETTER! :cool1: I have so much more energy, am not so tired, have lost a little weight and am very proud of myself.

I have finally found what works for me. I am certain that I have found a new way of life and will continue with my healthy lifestyle.

So, thanks! Thanks for starting this, maintaining this, and helping me find the tools I needed at the time I needed!

All of the coaches, organizers and thread keepers are amazing!

I'm in Rio Rancho, just outside ABQ. Not sure I'd call it 'running' yet. I alternate 4-4.2 with 5 mph so I end up jogging about 1 mile of the 5k. I WANT to run!

Sunday 1/12 QOTD So, everywhere I look it is a red, heart, sweets, food 'bloodbath'! I know a lot of people have plans & it's a big holiday for many. HOW will you stay on track??

Today I'm up almost 2 lbs from Friday and have stayed totally OP. Frustrating & hope it is gone soon!

Besides church, cleaning house, & laundry, today is a gym day for me. My heart isn't in it, but I am going to go. I want to see if I can, without killing my feet, keep up the 5k every other day for a month. My first was on 5/21 in Jacksonville at the hotel.

I really want to MAKE my goal this time at WW. Tho I'm not quite sure yet what my official WW goal will be, it definitely will be higher than my real goal. I first joined WW 1/28/2003 and have been on/off countless times due to stress eating, frustration, etc. This time, I am believing that I am worth it and I can do it despite my family!

Hope everyone has had a good weekend so far! We had a tiny bit of SNOW this morning :woohoo::dance3::cool1::thumbsup2 (Yes, I'm crazy, but I LOVE SNOW!!!)

Your pace is awesome! That IS running! Great job! I hope your gym time goes well today. If you can maintain intervals of 4 and 5 you will be running at higher speeds very soon. At 4 and 5 you can comfortably stay within Disney's time requirements (at 4 you can, actually- thats a 16 minute mile). Good for you and keep it up!

What a small world! I used to live in NW ABQ, in Paradise Hills, on Leymon, just off Irving. WOW! I'll bet it is beautiful there right now! I miss the Sandia mountains and how they looked purple in the sunlight.

Hey all! I've been crazy busy around here for a while so I haven't been able to keep up with you guys. I hope everyone is doing well! (I'm not even going to try to read from my to my last post). With all the craziness my diet took a hit, my workouts took a hit, and even my food journal took a hit. So it was no surprise to me when I saw that I didn't lose any weight this week. At least I managed to stay the same. My plan for this week is to get back on track, and that ties in perfectly with this today's QOTD.

Sunday 1/12 QOTD So, everywhere I look it is a red, heart, sweets, food 'bloodbath'! I know a lot of people have plans & it's a big holiday for many. HOW will you stay on track??

My mom had a V-day get together yesterday for my whole family, and I managed to stay on track by eating smaller portions. Also I stayed away from the soda and the Pina Colada. For dessert I only had a small piece of one cake and didn't even look at the other baked goodies.

As far as Tuesday goes, thankfully I am off on Tuesdays so I won't be at work to partake in all the extra snacking that usually comes with days like this. I made my meal plan for the week :yay: and for breakfast on Tuesday I'm having oatmeal with bananas and flax seeds. Lunch will be a 1/2 a Turkey and Swiss sandwich with spinach salad. The other half will go to my son ;). We are planning to go out to dinner as a family that night at a local Italian restaurant. I always get a seafood salad as app when there but might go with the mussels this time. I know I will probably indulge in some pasta unless they have a special dish or something. For dessert I will share with my son. The big change for me will be not having any bread from the bread basket!

Thanks everyone! Ash had a good night. No reactions to the meds so far. We both had a headache this morning but that may be from the pressure change. She said her stomach hurt a bit. She took the meds with yogurt as she can't swallow pills yet. She didn't even know she had the pill. We are also going to work with changing her diet a bit. I bought her some organic chocolate milk. She really likes it.

Ash and I went to church and then the grocery store and KMart. I got a new pair of jeans and she got a new blouse. We bought some little drumsticks that we love for an appetizer and then just had slider burgers and fries. Brian is going to make his Mom's spaghetti sauce in the crock pot for dinner tomorrow. Dinner tonight will be whatever people want. Ash and I have to run out again to prepare her for dog-sitting next week and Izzie has Daisies. We will be picking up her cookies this afternoon that she sold. Only about 6 boxes this time.

Watching Chopped right now. I think I might try and do the Wii later. I wasn't going to watch the Grammys tonight but with the passing of Whitney Houston I have decided to watch. I was so sad last night. I downloaded a few of my favorites from itunes. I had a cassette of her albums. Don't know where they are anymore but I have my favorites of hers.

Need to finish my tea and check in with a friend about stopping by to pick up and drop off stuff.

I'm going to do a little bit of cleaning, figure out what to make for dinner, and get my 30 Day Shred workout in. My mom should be back sometime this evening from her weekend outing. I also need to set up a drop off for our Owner's Locker at BLT for tomorrow. I also need to figure out what I'm going to pack. Its really chilly here today and I don't want to freeze my butt off.

When we get back from Disney on Wednesday I'm going to do some batch cooking: muffins and my eggs in a tin.
