Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

Yeah, well, last year I came face to face with a moose! Scared the living sh*t out of me! Actually, it was about 20-30 feet away. I was running and it was crossing the road. And we both saw each other and froze in our tracks. Very slowly I started to back away...and then turned and ran back in the other direction! :rotfl2:

Has anyone else been having problems with the boards to the point where you can't get on them, or you'll be in the middle of responding, clicking send and then nothing pops up? Grr... Maybe it's time to upgrade that silly old laptop after all.

Okay, second point first! Sweets. Do you crave something in particular? My honest suggestion? Eat that. Figure out what you want and eat it. Once. The craving will go away.

In general, I've found that giving myself substitutes for what i really want just leaves me unsatisfied.

Yesterday's craving was peanut butter pretzels. I went and got them and figured that I could just have one or two and I stuck to that... in handful proportions :) But hey, I was laid up on the couch and didn't really eat too much else. Then I started craving banana bread, but I didn't want to get up and actually bake so that went away.

Bridal shower - hmm, who is the Maid of Honor? Who is in charge so to speak? I need more details.

This is where it gets hairy. The MoH is actually overseas and may not be back in time for the wedding, so planning has been deferred to the bridesmaids. The frustrating thing to me is that all these wonderful ideas are thrown out, but when it comes time to talk about how we're going to pay for it no one wants to pony up. I don't mind picking up the slack, but they keep throwing out these ridiculous ideas (uplighting while opening her presents, and gift bags filled with champagne and nice glasses for guests) and only want to throw $50 towards the shower. It's just a little frustrating.

I've got two of these planning sessions (two different brides) going on at the moment. At least the other one is much better.

E - wow, so cool. I see nothing outside, but the indoor track view can be very amusing. I might lay the law down on people who let their little kids run around it unsupervised!

Nice try, toots. I think you mean NANCY. Liz is in Jersey. Anti-boonies! :lmao:

Sept Girl aka Liz! BUT you got the Satan's Minions right!!! :thumbsup2

I can't eat just one of those. Heck no. The sleeve or nothing.

Oh, so you are dealing with crazies! Well, first off, how can someone be a MoH and not present at the wedding? :confused3 That makes no sense to me. So you have a group and no leader. Who is next in line to be MoH? Any forerunners? Any desire to be leader yourself? You can whip them into shape or you can basically ignore them. How clsoe are you to the bride?

Rhi- Yes, the DIS is really slow, but it's been like this off and on for a LONG time now. It reminds me of the good-ole-days of DIALUP!

Pretty close. Her MoH is deployed right now, so it makes things tough. She should be back in time for the wedding, but we don't have a definite date of return other than end of June, and you never know with those things. I've been taking lead, but it's funny how some assume that since I'm the leader I'm also the bag o' money. Yep. Not happening.

However, the good thing about all this crazy wedding shower planning and helping the bride figure out what she wants to do for her wedding, I'm getting some REALLY good ideas for what I want to do for my own. We're going to be looking around Disney on our trip in March-- I really want something in the Africa section of Animal Kingdom, so we'll see. I think it would be a neat little throwback to how we got to know each other in HS (long story short, we were two of three people hospitalized with malaria during a trip to Ghana). But it's starting to get me excited for my own wedding even though we're just in the "talking about it" stages.

And completely unrelated but good news-- I'm cleared for light activity. HOORAY! I'm going to have a HOT DATE with the elliptical tomorrow. I'M SO EXCITED.

Nope, no need to replace your laptop--at least not for the boards. Pete is currently in the process of changing the host servers. It is a massive undertaking and boards are experiencing lots of issues as they make the switch. Once the switch is complete, though, Pete and Corey say that the boards will be SO much better and more efficient. Hope so!

Can't catch up right now. But NANCY!!!!!!!!!!!!! :thumbsup2 Fantastic news. Can't wait to comment more on that wonderful piece of news.

I'm down .3. Not giving much thought to it either way because I'm on day 25 or 26 of a period!!!!!!!!!!! :scared1: Yes you read that correctly. I'm drained physically and mentally from it all. And can't even imagine where it's putting my hormones at.

Okay then....:rolleyes1

But my body has changed again as far as size. So really positive for me.

Lisa, have you talked to your ob/gyn?

Mine says that it's likely a pre-menopausal symptom that I shouldn't be too alerted about (***, I'm only 32!?!) unless it gets REALLY heavy with REALLY long and happens more often. Not very helpful, but figured I'd pass it along anyhow.

Seriously Karen! It's downright painful some days! At least we know why now though:laughing:

I've been thinking about you lots Lisa. You and Frankie :flower3:

I've been thinking about Lisa, too. Specifically about how she ignores me. Hmmmm.... :lmao: :lovestruc

Hope all is well with you and Frankie and your parents....and all of it. Love you, babe.

Lisa - always steady losses, no matter how small!

WOW on the period. Just wow. I use drugs to control mine, and i cannot imagine doing anything else. I admire you sticking that out.

Hmm, neither does losing to the non-competitive one, moi. :lmao:

LOVE it. :goodvibes

Lisa, I'm so sorry Frankie is still having trouble. I wish I had some advice, but I don't.

Thank you Karen. I know.

**** Thank you EVERYONE. I appreciate it. :lovestruc

]Riley has mono! Ugh! And tomorrow Cam is getting her wisdom teeth out. Yes, she's only 10! Crazy! So this isn't a fun place to be right now.

Friday is my LAST LONG RUN before the Princess! Yes! The long runs are so so so boring that it's painful.
]

Yeah LAST LONG RUN is O - VER!!!! :thumbsup2

Ugh on Riley and Cammie. Hope they're both doing okay. You know it's VERY difficult imagining one of your offspring with mono. Truly. Such a leap.

I would love to join!

DsnyMama - Amber

.

Hi Amber!!! :flower3:

Such an interesting life.

Welcome Amber! We have a few things in common, including our dh's professions! Mine has been driving since our kids were little, they are teenagers now! I also have quite a few friends that are birh advocates and doulas. I photographed my friend's homebirth, it was amazing! Anywho...welcome!

Gah, getting antzy here, how long for PF to heal?!?! I wanna run!

E, sorry about the sickies!

Gah is right. I can only imagine how frustrating that is - can you stand on it for any length of time Kare?. If so I do have an exercise that I've noticed shoots up the HR.

]I have one more long one too! Monday. The weather here has been crazy-mild. My 11 outside the other day was really not that horrific at all. But, it appears my luck has run out. Monday is supposed to be in the 20*'s, windy and flurries. :headache: With the arthritis, it's really not good for me to run in the cold, especially for a long run. My hip needs to be kept warm. Maybe I can swing a half TM-half outside run Monday. 12 on the TM gives a whole new meaning to mental fortitude!

Since you crazies always love to say "we're having arctic air coming down from Canada" - :sad2:

Well Monday is correct.

We too have been crazy mild and that's all changing this weekend. So it's on its way. :flower3:

Trade them for a funnel cake!!!! :rotfl2:

Welcome Amber! Glad you are here!

Lisa, any update?

Karen, I am going over to read your TR next!

So I am still sick - but not as bad. Was allowed to work all day today! They sent me home yesterday. Sick Liz = not good for wellness. I am already through all my extra points and most of my activity, and my activity is really decreased this week, but I did manage 9 miles and a yoga class. Hoping for 2 miles tomorrow. Maybe yoga Friday and planning on 12 miles on Saturday! I skipped Zumba tonight, I just need the rest.

I am bizarrely hungry though. Like what the heck? Well I am tracking!

I need to pack this weekend as we leave next weekend! :scared1:

OMG. You leave next weekend. How exciting Liz!!!!

So sorry you're ill. Here's to that changing PRONTO.

Yes - Frankie. He's what I would call okay right now. We had a shock this week.

Oh this is going to be LONG.

How do I explain this? Let's call good vet good vet. :rotfl2: And operating vet evil vet. ;)

Well good vet is a godsend. Truly. So grateful. They have got about I don't know about $200 of our $3000 paid (meaning evil and dumba$$ before her got most) and they have no idea that we would be their regular clients. Took Frankie in when evil vet went missing. And they are so wonderful. Above and beyond with little business from us.

So long this story. When good vet says "we'll call" they call. And even though we aren't even their clients (we are now of course). Not only did she call this week - she phoned and requested Frankie's stone analysis.

And guess what?

Misdiagnosed. Two vets wrong diagnosis. They had the wrong stone. And Frankie has been on the wrong med diet for two weeks. Opposite to what he needed. And when we first took him in emergency after operation to good vet she said "I'm not so sure it's urate stones". We were huh. How could that be? Diagnosed twice by two different vets. They were sure. And we were perplexed that they couldn't quite explain (rare for cats and tied to liver but no Frankie liver problems). But she was right. So she had us immediately change course of action now that she has proof of that.

Bad vet never ever phoned since she operated. Didn't even tell us the analysis was in EARLY. Probably never wanted to share it b/c it showed she was wrong.

So she - good Godsend blessed us wonderful vet - would have done all talk by phone - no money. But Frankie's been so bad we went back in with him. Poor boy.

And her thoughts are he's in pain but not in jeopardy. And gave him all kinds of new meds. Explained where she's at and why.

Chatised us for not calling. We thought it would be disrespectful to take more from them without $$$.

So he's still in pain - which is awful - but I don't spend every minute wondering if he's dying. ANd dying in pain.

Dying sounds dramatic? Cats who don't pee and cry in litter over and over one is told critical. Could be 48 hours critical. And most of the time it is - but she feels he's in pain from two problems and that's all. Like chicken and egg and he has no relief. Poor Frankie. And she's going to figure it all out.

He's doing much better in comparison. Not crying each time. And I can't sleep through the night yet (even if I could I live in 440 so his pain is "with me") - but getting way more sleep. :thumbsup2 Grateful for that.

Thanks to everyone!!! :grouphug:

And big love to all the mothers.

THIS IS WHAT PAIN MEDS AND VALIUM DOES TO CATS:

He thinks he can still fit in a condo he lived in as a kitten. Too funny.

Since I stink with names as previously claimed:

Hi Kimberley!!! :flower3:

I came on about seven months in and in the beginning I regularly used a name chart. And back then we had AIM names too!!!! :rotfl2: It helped. Truly.

Tomorrow is Thursday. Double whammy day for me.

First, it's my official weigh in for WW. Tracking has gone well this week (with the exception of Sunday night, when I ate more than I should have, but less than I wanted to - so I'll call it a win). Workouts have been solid - LISA! Are you listening? I've made a few changes to my workouts this week. We'll see what happens.

Also, it's my day when I get my a$$ kicked by my trainer.

You can't just say LISA! and don't give me details. :sad2: Have you met me and the CUTIE? :goodvibes

I'm here. Again please note that the IT people at work have DIS blocked.
I have to remember to bring my Fire to work with me.
Erika, I have the Garmin 110 its gray and pink and I LOVE IT.

Welcome Amber!

I am so jealous reading of all your long runs. I am benched I stilll have some major hamstring/ it band issues. I hope hte running stars aline in time for me to get at least 8-9 no pain miles in before I leave for the princess.

Oh Jo. So hope it all changes for you. :flower3:

Thanks for the good WW wishes! We'll see what the scale says tomorrow, but you know I check all.the.time. I'm down overall. I bounce up and down all week, but the bouncing interval has gone down. Make sense at all?

Yeah. She may be pregnant but she's still a BEAST! She broke my husband today :scared:

How? Details on the husband beating. :goodvibes

I've been thinking about Lisa, too. Specifically about how she ignores me. Hmmmm.... :lmao: :lovestruc

.

I can't quite find the appropriate icon for this post.

Wait! I see HIM. BUT I don't have the guts to push him. He dances without even moving his feet and he's the colour of the sun. :3dglasses

Listen seal hunting Pipsqueak I have BIG news for you. I thought of you during a workout last week. And you better listen to me this time.

EVERYONE  I have to catch up more - so much more to say/add (thank you)- but I'm done for the night. The Disboards went off just as I just finished SWEARING at two colour/bold pushers that regularly put me over my posting limit. popcorn:: And force me to cut and paste on a regular basis. :rolleyes1

Paula! Last name on WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE? tonight.

What exactly happens when Mr. banana gets posted? Something epic, I'm thinking, like the whole thread freezes up or something blows up. I still don't know, but I'm too a-scared to try.

Lisa, he's SO cute!!! :lovestruc

Yes, I can put weight on my feet, I can walk, they are just a little sore in the mornings now...but last time I was better like this, it flaired up the second I tried to run. Rey keeps telling me I have to wait until I have NO pain and then run...but what if it never totally goes away? I've been doing stretches. *grumble*

Excited that the Princess is coming up for some of you! Who is going this year? I want full trip reports, with drink pictures included! :p I need to start gathering info, it's just 378 days until I run it! ;)

Karen, wait until you have no pain can jump on both feet before you try to walk, let alone run.

Otherwise, again, you will spend months and months in pain until you finally have to give in and rest for 4-6 weeks while you heal.

Lisa, with Frankie. Some cats take longer to heal than others. Especially older cats. Trinity never did grow her fur back from the last surgery and it was over a year ago. A good vet is so so crucial. The first vet is hosing you, too, I have had this surgery done 3 times and it cost under $1000 each time. I shopped vets the first time as the original est was 2K and I found out that the vet that charges the reasonable vet is also the NICE vet.

Sorry I didn't email you - this week I was sick as a dog and completely swamped at work.

I'm doing the Princess! At a slow walk. My leg is completely better now but I have been unable to train as much as I would have liked due to laying off it for 5 weeks. Today is 11 miles walking so hopefully it goes well.
