Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

OK! :)
Our next trip is April 20-23, and we'll be up at Kidani Village at AKL. I can't wait.

Loved it. And as I was reading I was smiling at all the things I have never done at WDW all these years - all these trips.

I have never been into Disney Quest. :confused3 Don't know why. I had passes with extras for years on end. So :confused3. I have to make it in there before they close it. Are those rumours still going on?

And I'm always missing the Braves schedule. Would love to do that.

Loved the hat Rhianna. :lmao:

And the Grey Goose. Everyone talks about it and another item to put on my list.

The Kidani trip is coming quickly, eh? Yeah for that. I've done all my AKV stays (four??) at Jambo - I usually do a Value unit (which is only at Jambo) and Standard at Jambo because Jambo's Standards are a lovely pool view - guaranteed. Great view. I've been around and swam at Kidani and love the exercise room there - :rotfl2: - because I don't get kicked out for wearing open toe shoes - I regularly get kicked out of DVC gyms because I hate shoes when exercising.

SO long story short - never stayed at Kidani - can't wait to hear.

Nancy? Ronda? Home? Fun time?

I'm going to go bug the Goddesses for a flippin' race report. :sad2:

I'm in the same boat. I've got some fabulous shots with my Cybershot, and would LOVE a DSLR, but I'm just not sure I'd ever carry it around. Some days my little point and shoot is too much. I mean, I'm so lazy I just carry my iPhone. :)

Changing the lens - I would be so impatient about missing the shot.

I'm such a bad bad goddess. I've just been in a funk and haven't been coming to the DIS much, the feet are still no better.

BUT, I just had to tell you Lisa...your shots are STUNNING!!! Seriously, you can tell the caliber of a photographer based on how their shots are WITHOUT the DSLR, and you, my dear, have it! This is how it began for me, and it may be something you end up loving. It is an investment and it does take a LOT of learning, but you should definitely consider it. There have been times I wished I just had a point and shoot, but I do love my camera and wouldn't trade it for my old P&S ever! Just beautiful shots. Really, I loved every single one of them! :lovestruc

I know. I know. :thumbsup2 You are looking fantastic Megan. And I'm a sh!t for not being a cheerleader right now. I was just happy to hear about your race and then KDfjlakjf;lkadjf;lasdkjfl;asdf to hear about the swelling. But regardless I can't wait to hear that it's feeling secure.

I just feel for you - which doesn't help the positive flow. :lmao: Love to you Megan.

NYC was wonderful. WONDERFUL.

Thank you Lisa. I have to be honest sometimes its nice when people don't try to be a cheerleader and just agree that it sucks. But I haven't to say out of everything has come tons of motivation and reminder that I can do anything I want to.

Tell me more about the basketball game!! I'm trying to picture just how excited you were. Did you wear a t shirt? Did you see lots of interesting people? Sporting events always bring out interesting people.

Karen- I was in a funk all winter. Just feeling off. Hope you feel better soon.

So in November I ran a 5k with a 9min per mile pace. After my 5k a few weeks ago I decided that I wanted to get back to that pace again. Brian thinks I'm capable of pushing myself to run one with a sub 9 min pace. So we started ramping up my training this weekend. We ran some sprints this weekend and while we were on our way to the track he let me know he was going to push me way beyond my limits. I told him that I'd be so mad at him the whole time but I'd love him after. I'm sure if anyone had been on the track they'd think we were nuts, he told me to move faster and I told him to leave me alone. When we left I loved him for pushing me and understanding what we need. So I'm going to boot camp and running, then I have Brian working on teaching me to push far beyond what I think my body can do. (And I'm now understanding why he was such a great wrestler in high school and college.)

My excitement about pushing myself to be fast has him so excited with are sorting out races to run. Looking at about four 5ks and a few half marathons. It's safe to say I've finally gotten Brian bit by the running bug.

I'm back! And now I owe you TWO reports. <sigh>

Lisa - your NYC pictures are FABULOUS! My favorite was the window that said "make your magic every day" (or something like that. Now I have to go back and look again )

I think covering the "we've never done THAT befores" is what we lean towards doing these days. In the fall we do a longer trip where we can spend full days at the parks and take advantage of short wait times, but our long weekend trips (especially when the parks are busy) are usually resort-centric. We may hit a park or two, but usually we take advantage of down time and only head to parks to do things or eat at restaurants we haven't yet experienced. It's amazing how in so many years, there's so much we've never done. I can't tell you how many times I've been and STILL have not caught the Electrical Parade.

As far as the rumors- I'm not sure. The place was packed when we were there, so I have a hard time thinking they'll close it, but then again it IS $45/pp to go in. A little steep for what they offer, IMO. I mean it's cool-- arcade style games, plus a few interactive games that don't always seem to be working when we're there, but barely worth $45 or enough to do to spend an entire day at. We usually go if it's too hot to do anything else, or if it's raining. Plus DBF's family's DVC home is SSR, so we spend quite a bit of time at DTD since it's so close.

And I'm always missing the Braves schedule. Would love to do that.

Loved the hat Rhianna. :lmao:

The game was fun-- a little expensive for spring training ($20/pp for a lawn seat), but then again I work walking distance from Roger Dean Stadium here in Jupiter so I'm used to picking up a $10 ticket for the same thing.

I became A HAWK looking for the ears and they were hard to find, so coming home with them was a total win. I saw a bunch of people with them and really wanted them, so it became our mission. They weren't available in ANY stores, you had to find specific vendors who had them. Usually, they were sold alongside of alcohol. Go figure.

And the Grey Goose. Everyone talks about it and another item to put on my list.

I don't know if I like them because they're a good alcoholic beverage or if they're a good cold beverage. On a hot day, they really hit the spot. And boy do they go down easily. Usually by the time I've hit Japan, I want to walk back for my second one. I can't walk with two because they spill all over my hand and then it gets sticky. As my future sister in law would say, "first world problem."

The Kidani trip is coming quickly, eh? Yeah for that. I've done all my AKV stays (four??) at Jambo - I usually do a Value unit (which is only at Jambo) and Standard at Jambo because Jambo's Standards are a lovely pool view - guaranteed. Great view. I CAN'T WAIT TO GO. And I can't believe that we're almost at the end of the month of March. It seems like just yesterday I was waiting for our POR stay. I've been so excited for AKL for years, and I expect the actual camera to be dragged out for this one. I think I'll be gushing about this, even if it's the worst stay ever. Really can't wait. :)

I'm going to go bug the Goddesses for a flippin' race report. :sad2:

Yeah! I'd love to hear all about the race as well!

I'm back! And now I owe you TWO reports. <sigh>

 NANCY!!!!!!!!!

Hi to all! Will be back to catch up. :goodvibes

Before I catch up....

Okay - let me not make this a drama. But I chose to be courageous and very vulnerable this week and I was met by - are you ready? Silence. Simply ignoring. Nada. And I've said this before if any of you deal with conflict or vulnerability in your life by silence - change it. It leaves the other person feeling - sh!t I don't know the word - but I find it very self absorbed and cruel and disrespectful to choose that. Acknowledgement - whether good or bad or difficult is much kinder and better in the end. Even if it comes with a disappointment - which of course is a valid outcome - at least one was acknowledged for their own courage and strength.

I'm holding on to me and my strengths. I'm doing fabulously with so many things these days. So although this is hard - I'm trying hard to hold on to me. Looking great - I'm at that size that is very good. I'm saying size because it's no longer a weight - my fitness has made that weight higher. Good thing. But the size where if I didn't get any smaller I could live with it. Onward.

Really, I loved every single one of them! :lovestruc

Sorry about the funk Karen. The bike is doing okay?

Thank you so much Karen. I am pleased with them. As for the DSLR - I'm very torn. I've learned that I like taking pictures more than any technical choices. My choice would be a point and shoot with a lens that is crisp and clear like a DSLR. I've looked at the 4/3s :confused3 but so unsure. I'm very attached to my camera. It's a love affair and it's dying. Well not on the dying part.

Maybe a Rebel? I don't know.

Tell me more about the basketball game!! I'm trying to picture just how excited you were. Did you wear a t shirt? Did you see lots of interesting people? Sporting events always bring out interesting people.

Okay - first I never ever thought to take my camera. My favourite NBA player of all time was there and no camera. :confused3 So I was entranced to see Baron up close and personal. I literally have this fabulous memory of a hotel room in Charlotte years back - ooh that sounds like a good story. :lmao: Anyway, I'm on the bed there standing up reenacting Baron behind the back - through the defense and to the basket. BOOM. I love him.

So it was wonderful. Imagine I spend most of these years - staring down from the rafters in the $12.50 seats (which are not bad seats - they did a fantastic job of designing the Air Canada Centre) looking at all the rich people. ;) And often I swear at them if we are sold out and there are empty seats - like a geez who the eff had tickets and didn't even come? :goodvibes Idiots. ;)

The best people are during the fourth quarter scan - one guy who was over 200 pounds was dancing like he was on Soul Train. And he was white. Priceless.

I was in the seats where you have a menu and someone comes to serve you. Hello. But I didn't buy anything. :3dglasses You can see the excitement. You can see them coming and leaving the tunnel. See them dancing and fooling around being boys. The commentators and their makeup is visible.:goodvibes It's just an entirely different vantage point.

And I found myself looking at the big screen - which was now up in my view not down and it would take a few minutes for me to click in that I don't need to stare at the big screen. Hello, my seats provide the big screen. :woohoo:

And I also think of you and Kat when I'm there whether upper or lower bowl. The 13 Stanley Cups banner hang - and they end in 1967. :rotfl2: :lmao: :rotfl:. I was born in 1967 - those poor poor Leaf fans.

Megan - they did fire the coach. The chanting became too much I guess.

Brian thinks I'm capable of pushing myself to run one with a sub 9 min pace. So we started

He is not the only one.

. Usually by the time I've hit Japan, I want to walk back for my second one. I can't walk with two because they spill all over my hand and then it gets sticky. As my future sister in law would say, "first world problem."

OMG Rhianna - this KILLED me. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Lisa, I can't tell you much about the Rebel b/c I'm a Nikon girl, but you usually cannot go wrong with Canon either. Have you looked into bridge-cameras? They are an in between from a point and shoot and a dslr and they might give you more clarity but not the hassle of learning settings and lens changing that a dslr brings.

I will say that if you do not really want to learn settings, do NOT buy a dslr. I think some point and shoots take just as nice shots in auto settings as auto setting a dslr does. I've had people with the EXACT same camera as me, ask me what kind of camera I have and they are shocked we have the same camera b/c I have learned how to get the shots I want with manual shooting, but dslr's are far from perfect if you just put them on auto and try to shoot, in fact, they can be more frustrating if you are wanting to just get the shot! Look into some bridge cameras, I know Nikon and Canon both have them! :thumbsup2

Biking is going ok, but I live in a pretty hilly area outside of town and I mean BIG hills and will have to avoid them. Dallas and I have had to get off and walk some of them and that does nothing for me feet and kind of defeats the purpose. This morning I'm going to map out an area in town of maybe 3 miles and then just ride in circles to get more mileage. That way I can go further but not hit any horrible hills.

Can't wait to hear about all the trips you goddesses have/are taking! I still have 11 months, so I need to live vicariously! :flower3:

Oh and Hope (my bff) and I also planned an alternate trip if my feet are not better. It's a couple weeks after the Princess and on my actual birthday. I'm hoping we don't have to go then, but if I'm in the pain I'm in now, I wouldn't even be able to walk the 1/2 and it would be torture to see everyone with their bling. BUT, I have months and maybe it will be better by then! I hope so. :goodvibes

I feel like I just got a mini trip report about your game and I loved it. I should say that I bring my camera every where, every where. Sometimes when I'm out some place like a concert it will hit me that I've seen the whole show thru my camera. So I'm a bit happy you didn't bring it. It's awesome to just be in the moment.

Sounds like you had an amazing night. I had fun just reading about it so I can imagine how you felt being there. I'm like you though, I hate seeing those expensive seats during sold out games. Hello us little people would have taken them off your hands if you weren't going to use them. If I get tickets to an event and can't go I'd rather just give them away then not have them be used.

I've been to the Air Canada Centre to see the Leafs play years ago. I have to say I loved it. I had so much fun and thought it was a great place.

Oh and as for the firing of the Leafs coach... hockey fans are brutal. I've seen chants to fire college coaches. I don't know whats considered a bridge camera but I have a Canon that I'd consider to be more then you standard point and shoot but isn't a dslr. I can't for the life of me remember which model it is at the moment but I love it. It gives me great shots but I don't have to fiddle with all the lenses. I use it a lot at concerts and it gives me great shots but its also good for family functions.

Jo- How does she handle it when he expects 100% from her? I got that pressure from my dad when I played soccer and hockey. Sometimes it'd create tense moments but it also pushed me to be better. But my sister couldn't handle that pressure and my dad had to learn to back off her.

Karen- I know you've been having problems with your feet but don't count yourself out for the Princess. You've got a ton of time to see how things go. Honestly my ankle a month ago was still badly swollen and I thought I'd have to scrap races for the spring. Its taken a lot of work and adjustments but I'm finally seeing improvements.

I went to boot camp last night and was pretty fired up leaving the house. Its the best workout I've had in months! Safe to say I'm having more workouts these days where I feel like my old self again. And the best part.... almost no swelling after. This week feels like a huge week for me in the workout department.

But the size where if I didn't get any smaller I could live with it. Onward.

So glad that you are happy with your size and holding onto you.

I hope it's not our fault??

I'm try not to use silence as a weapon, but I am also really bad with just being too self-absorbed to respond when I should, and/or procrastinating things until scatter-brain over here totally forgets. On top of that, social interactions and thinking/responding can be hard for me sometimes so I put them off until I have more energy, and if something falls off my radar in the meantime, I can be horrible about it. In general, I am sometimes not a very good friend because of this. The people that I have stayed friends with the longest are the ones that understand and don't take my silence personally.

I've been so busy lately that I haven't been able to breathe. First the trip, and then a whirlwind week of catching up at work and then I flew to Chicago for an interview, and then we had a release at work this week which required a lot of extra hours. I haven't had much time other than updating FB and barely keeping up with my emails, let alone message boards or blogs.

Long story short, I got the job. I will be a traveling consultant and will be in California for 4 weeks of training starting May 20th, and then will be going to a job site on Mon AM and back home on Thurs PM, working from home on Fridays.

My husband also got a new job which will have him working 3 12 hour shifts overnight. He is super excited about it as he has HATED the M-F morning shift thing that he transitioned to last year.

I still owe a race and trip report and promise to add one sometime this afternoon or tomorrow.

I hope it's not our fault??

.

Kat!! :rotfl2:

OMG, like I would feel remotely vulnerable or courageous about emailing you three ding dongs. :rotfl2: Come on, laugh with me.

And even if I was SO absurd about you not answering me about your RRs - why the he!! would I write in code about you three on your own thread. Come on you know me I am upfront and direct with people. Look I just called Jo's husband big ball man. :lmao: ;);)

And it wasn't this week.

As for friends not answering emails - I have friends that I LOVE for decades and decades that can't answer an email or even acknowledge an email to save their lives. And I haven't kicked them to the curb. Geez, they sound like keepers. ;) I was just laughing about one of them the other day. I actually say to her over the years could you just type the words "got it" once in awhile on the important ones. :rotfl: Totally frustrating and then I get a novel out of the blue. But here we go this friend would never not acknowledge when it's apparent that it's necessary - very vulnerable or conflict based to work out.

This was a whole different ball game. And not about any friend taking the needed space/time to answer an email. Long story. I just posted about it because 1) I think silence as a response is __________ and 2) I wanted to vent to hold onto me and not make it about me because it's all about them 3) Someone here on this thread must use it as their way to deal with vulnerability or conflict because it's a common tactic in general for people. Ie. there are enough people on here that one of us does it. Or someone's husband/partner. And I wanted to voice that "change that people". Telling how it feels on the other side. And leaves the person on the other side as not even remotely acknowledged.

Congratulations on the job. :thumbsup2 I know you're both skilled and talented and have many fantastic reviews but I have to say you must be the best at interviews Kat.

Yeah for you! So Chicago - head office??? But you get to stay home and travel as well?

And although I both love you and miss you and DO WANT A RACE REPORT :rolleyes1- I don't care who's on this thread regularly or at all. Life is the priority. And it's wonderful that you have lots going on.

____________________________________________________________________

Got to run. Will catch up later with everyone. Just didn't want Kat to wonder.

Good, good. I didn't think so but wanted to be sure. :goodvibes

I think silence is definitely common, and irritating. I will do my best.

Nah, I'm not that good at interviews. My skill set and experience level are just very very much in demand right now, and especially in this area and some of the other "high tech" places. I get called pretty much weekly.

I liked this job but I don't want to stay a contractor really, plus I was really enticed by the travel aspect. It saves on a lot of expenses, and I get to move somewhere without actually having to pack up, sell the house, etc. I've been getting a bit antsy about living here for 11 years and this gives me the best of both worlds.

Their home office is in California. I will spend the first 4 weeks there for training. After that, I will have another month somewhere TBD in on-the-job training, then I will get assigned a project. They try to get it as geographically close to your home base as possible.

I think it's funny that you thought it was you Kat, b/c I immediately thought it might be me. I have the same tendency, at least online, to read and then respond in my HEAD and never actually type it out! I'm really bad about it, but I try to work on it. I also worry that I'm me-me-me all the time and not responding enough to others in conversation and just acknowledging them and what they have to say.

Congrats on the job Kat!!!!!!!! :woohoo:

Did another 8 miles on the bike yesterday and a little faster. I found a route I can go without too many terrible hills so I don't have to get off and walk on my feet!

Anyone have fabulous plans for the weekend? I need to live vicariously through you. ;)

Down .9 this week.

Lisa, I can't tell you much about the Rebel b/c I'm a Nikon girl, but you usually cannot go wrong with Canon either. Have you looked into bridge-cameras? s

Smart on the bike route Karen until everything heals.

Thanks on the camera. The only thing that keeps me jealous is the F.I.N.E clarity of a DSLR lens - the quality - crisp - clear. It drives me crazy Karen - the intense jealousy.

So I asked a friend who is a photographer today - "WHY OH WHY can they not make a P and S with a DSLR lens?" He told me because no one would buy it - because of the pricing. IE. they wouldn't spend it when entry level DSLRs would be at that price level. I WOULD. :confused3 They need to invent it only for me. :rolleyes1

So those 4/3s - any thoughts?

Karen, I have a feeling my camera IS a bridge camera. :confused3 Unsure. Point and shoot still though. Obviously I'm confused.

I feel like I just got a mini trip report about your game and I loved it. I should say that I bring my camera every where, every where. But one of those Celtic games was a playoff game!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :worship:

Need info on your Toronto trip - I guess a Bruins game, yes? And a win? :rotfl2:

Lisa, he just gets on her when he knows shes not giving her all, not giving 100% is not allowed.

Jo, here is what I think - in case you care :rotfl2: ;). Jean and I talk about this endlessly and Megan's talk gives more credit to our thoughts re: Sister's personality. Children/people are either born with that 100% fire/go go go/competitive drive or not. It's innate. That is what we've come to all these years.

I still hope she's having fun - she's young. Okay Lisa is shutting up now.....maybe. :lmao:

Did another 8 miles on the bike yesterday and a little faster. I found a route I can go without too many terrible hills so I don't have to get off and walk on my feet!

Anyone have fabulous plans for the weekend? I need to live vicariously through you. ;)

No fabulous plans Karen. Watching Dallas and Orlando right now. Would love to see my great nephew or grand nephew or whatever the heck he is  I think it's a British/American thing again. I haven't seen him since Christmas.:3dglasses And he's like a little butterball. So cute. And I'm not a baby person. I like that half baby/half little girl or boy stage.

God remember when Delena was at that stage? Where does the time go?

Look at you all thinking I'm talking about you. popcorn:: It's no one on here. I would simply tell you. I was only short and vague for one reason - to not give it drama or energy for me. Just to vent. And be gone with it. And look at all the drama anyway.

Oh Karen wonderful on the route. :thumbsup2

So when are they sending you to Toronto?

Tell me your exact job title Kat - nephew (Jean's but was mine sort of deal) is trying to make decisions about where to go to in IT. Talk to me like I'm a four year old. :goodvibes

I'm so excited to hear all about it. Good for you Kat. Exciting! Truly - I'm sighing with envy with the brand new all the time and the travel.
