Team Goddess - Volume 11. Rocking 2012 Goddess Style!

I had to split these quotes up to be allowed to post and then it took my goodness a half an hour just to post. At least.....

YES! curse the disboards and their icon limits

And I have them on at home and they are so unflattering but comfortable and I'll probably take them to NYC because of that fact and I say to Jean "CRAP. Nancy is going to have my head if she sees them". :lmao: Crap.

:rotfl: Worse than Big Brother watching.

And then I questioned Jean about what I said to you. I was like "I was being cute - but was it mean? - I didn't mean as MEAN - she's got a great body - works hard for it and such". And she thought it was funny but I hope it didn't come off as mean.

NO! I didn't think it was mean. Reality is, they are my comfy jeans. Of course, the last few days I've been wearing more flattering jeans. You know, because you said to! :lovestruc

What if I appeared and simply watched you sew? :lmao::rotfl: Okay, I'll stop. Just frustrated not to see you. :flower3:

:rotfl: I would never get anything done. But I'd have fun. And I'd love it. And too bad if the kids are naked :scared:

I posted a profile on the SOLO board. Singles looking for singles. Who's proud of me - besides me? :rotfl2: :lovestruc

( I struggle with the thought of online dating b/c I want cocky and someone to find me first but oh well and it doesn't feel natural .....but it's done)

Hooray!

I was hesitant to start online dating a while ago and was convinced that even when I was paying for a profile, I'd meet someone like the Craigslist killer. I did meet some REALLY sketchy people where I was thankful to be on a date in a public place, but I also met some really great guys that I'm still friends with. I think if you go into it with the positive attitude of finding friends who could be something more, you'll have some luck. Or at least some GREAT stories to share with friends later.

Sorry I've been somewhat absent- work is super busy trying to get out some stuff for potential collaborators/partnerships, and none of my experiments are working. I can't tell if it's the design or the subject that's forcing this, but hopefully time will tell.

I am LIVING for my trip to visit the Mouse in 10 days. We'll only be in town the 17-19 and it's our first time staying at POR. I'm a little bummed because my dad had to cancel last minute, but I'm sure some Grey Goose slushies will fix that for me. As will walking around the parks looking at places for a wedding reception.

On other good news fronts, I was at the doctor yesterday and my heart is back to it's normal settings post-exercise. No surgery or shocking needed for now, but I still have to keep an eye on it and take things slowly. Another win! :)

Hopefully this afternoon I can catch up on everything I've missed here.

Oh, can someone give a tie-dye for dummies lesson? I LOVE the shirts but have never been able to do tie dye where the colors stay separate and don't look like vomit. This looks like a fun thing to try out.

Have fun! I arrive late on the 19th. I'm really looking forward to it. I'm hoping to connect with Ronda while there, as our trips overlap

That is EXCELLENT news Rhianna! :thumbsup2

My hip gets the rating "does not play well with others" :headache:

I'm so stinkin' frustrated right now. My marathon training was uncomfortable at times, but manageable. Of course, Erika laughed at me the entire weekend for my limp  But it's the new "normal" for me. I had an appointment with the orthopedic dr. last week and he was pretty adament that I back off (read: eliminate) on the running for a while. And I have. And my hip has gotten WORSE! In only one week "off", I swear I'm back to where I was last fall. I think that daily (or almost daily) running gave me much needed muscle & joint movement. Now, I'll readily admit that the pounding of the running probably isn't the best idea and is likely to accelerate any degeneration in my hip however I can't give it up completely. I'm miserable and have so much more pain and stiffness that now it's barely tolerable. And I have a very high threshold for pain! <sigh>

Oh man, we're leaving probably around lunch that day. Got to make it back in time to pick up my grandparents from the airport.

I'm surprised the doc told you to back off. Can you maybe ride a bicycle instead of running? Have you tried glucosamine and/or chondroitin? It helps my knees when they start to flare up.

Hi!

Super quick fly by from me.

I will fully admit to thread bankruptcy - I have been reading along every day but to be honest I have had nothing to say! Work is manic busy, we've had a death in the family, and generally life has gotten in the way! DH and I are going away for the night on Saturday for some much needed rest away from it all!

Lisa - YES!! I am SUPER proud of you! :cool1:

Nancy - I laughed at cocky too. I'm a teenage boy at heart :rotfl2:

Rhi - Awesome news! :thumbsup2

Ronda -

Everyone - Hi :grouphug:

Everyone - Hi :grouphug:

Kelly!!!! Miss you.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss.

_________________________________________________

I just lost everyone else's posts. Crap.

Rhianna - So fantastic. Wonderful to hear about your check up.

And thank you for your hooray. Honestly - I can clearly see that that part of the DIS - it's on here - does not go very far. Not pessimistic - it's just clear. BUT it's great practice. So yeah.

THANKS EVERYONE. :thumbsup2

Nancy - crap on all that. Here's to you figuring out a good balance with your workouts and your pain. I can only imagine how frustrating that must be.

Oh Kelly - I need an equivalent word for chav. What would it be? Like a Marky Mark (Walburg) from the 90s. I don't get it. Enlighten me. It's very judgmental, yes?

I'm down 1.1 this week. Yeah! :thumbsup2 But no weigh in for next week. I'm not interested in taking the scale.

I don't think I'll miss everyone when I return but Nancy - Ronda - Rhianna - have a wonderful time!

Liz - I will contact you. Sorry for being so disorganized but a lot going on. Sorry.

PEOPLE!!!!!!!!!! SOMEONE!!!!!!!!!!! WE NEED A RACE REPORT!!!!!!!!!!!!!:woohoo:

Good Morning...

I'm lurking here as SeptemberGirl mentioned this forum to me on another thread, one that I started, being upset with myself over dieting and weight loss ;)

So here I am..

I'm going to go and read thru some posts, maybe get some motivation to stick with a 'healthy' diet and lifestyle..

I just can't stay focused .. do well a few days, best intentions and then fail miserably at it.

Anyways - enjoy the day... Best of luck!
Georgette

Hi Georgette! I am SO glad you came over here!!! My name is Liz and I'm in NJ. Do your little bio when you have time. There are examples on the first page. :goodvibes

Nothing left but the packing....

photo-3.jpg

photo-2.jpg

The tie-dye turned out pretty well. No stitching, just rubber banding. I haven't discarded the dye yet. I have another idea :goodvibes

Hi Georgette. Welcome. It's all moderation for me. Deprivation will drive me to milk and cookies in the KwikiMart parking lot. Stay satisfied is my mantra. And keep moving. I can have more than one mantra, right?

DGF returned this afternoon. She's sad. It's sad.

Ronda

The shirts. I literally do not know how you do those! It's amazing! I am sure it's simple but I failed adult tye-die. I used to be really good at it as a teen, but I haven't tried it in years - do you do this outside or inside? How DO you position those Mickey ears? Mind boggling, all of it!

I'm sad for you two re DG's mom.

You can have multiple mantras - they are all good! :goodvibes

I would love some motivation too! I am training for a 10 mile in September, and I am packing to move and somehow I legitimized making a pan of brownies and eating two last night. :(

Hi Beth!!! Tell us more about yourself, if you can! Welcome!

Nancy -so what is the next step? What is the alternative to nothing?

Lisa - YES of course we are proud!!! And yes contact me and let me know. We would love to have you here but I'm not anti NYC! :lmao:

Hi name is Jo, I had a group thread on Dis but I am a bad friend and can't not get my over feed @$$ online enough to check in.

Can I take your 12 step program to forgiveness???

Ronda, love the shirts.

Kelly, enjoy your night out with DH

Lisa, I'm saying, one of those girls who when to the princess should have a TR
Erika, cough cough, Erika.. :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Welcome Gorgette

Liz! We've arrived. I wrote you. Nancy - probably in the city tomorrow and Thursday???? Just sayin'. :rolleyes1 I know. I know Nancy. I'm being a brat but only because I love you. And look I'm breaking my NO TECH while away for you. :goodvibes

Hi Jo - so wonderful to know that you're going to tell us all about your race. :rotfl2::love:

My sota kinda race report

I have to say I really really was not sure I would finsih. My legs hurt that bad. and after the race they hurt that bad, BUT with the help of Nancy, Erika and my grandmother watching over me. I kicked the crap out of that race.
My legs felt good durring the race, I kept saying to E, and Nancy. This is F@#$ING Awesome. I had the best time. E and Nancy would not let me let up at all and they knew thats what I wanted. I can't say it enought I LOVED LOVED LOVED the race. When we were going up the hill Nancy and E stopped for a pic with the army guy. I wanted to stop so bad, but instead I turned my headphones up very loud and kept my head down (so that I would not see how bad the ramp sucked) and I ran my butt off.
At the end I was yelling out some bad words, my legs were burning. Nancy was laughing at me.Then we come across Chip and Dale at about 12.5 ish
No line, I asked Nancy if she wanted that pic, she said no because of me. I know she would of stopped if we were not chasing that clock (Thank you Nancy) E stopped for the pic because she knew that Nancy would not let me let up so it was all good. We Crossed in 2:56 (32 mins faster than last year)

I can not wait to go back next year. Going for 2:44 or better.

My knee still hurts bad now.

Sunday after the race EE, had us booked on a firework cruise.. OMG it was so cool... so very cool..

Monday we went to Jellyrolls. I had a few beers and TOO MUCH FUN. Bar closed at 2am I had to get up at 5 AM for the airport. OMG was I ever dragging..

Again, I had a blast and can't wait to go back.

Thank You Team Goddess for a Kick @$$ weekend!!!!!!

love, love, love reading about the race! :lovestruc

I'm sorry I've been MIA, Rey has been home and I've just been trying to enjoy our time!

I tried running the other day, I don't know what I was thinking, but I made it about 6 strides before I realized it wasn't going to happen. Every stride there was pain in my heel, so I stopped and went back in the house in tears. Rey went out an hour later and bought me a bike!! What a man. I rode 7 miles yesterday with NO PAIN at all! It seems like the weight on my feet is what causes the pain, so I can ride and ride with no pain at all!!! :woohoo:

It's not the same as running for me, I totally get a workout, but not that sense of accomplishment from pushing myself to the limit, but this will keep me happy until my feet heal...and hopefully get off all this extra weight. grph.

Lisa, how is it going with the site?!?! Any matches?!?

Hi Jo - so wonderful to know that you're going to tell us all about your race. :rotfl2::love:

crying. My stupid cat just deleted my post. Not even kidding.

Bad kitty. Bad.

On to the Mickey head shirts. I got the technique from here
http://www.graenit.com/tiedye.htm

I decided to do it again and just do the Mickey on gray shirts.

I drew the circles with a fabric chalk. Using a piece of Mickey confetti I decided a 3.5 inch diameter cup and 6 inch rubbermaid bowl were the right ratio.

I marked the center of the circles, too.

IMG_0618.jpg

I pinched the center of each circle and gave the shirt a shake. Then the rubberband goes on and covers the drawn circle.

IMG_0620.jpg

I soaked the part to be dyed in diluted soda ash.

IMG_0621.jpg

Picked some deep colors and just soaked the ends beyond the rubber band. Wrapped the wet parts in plastic wrap and wait 24 hours.

IMG_0622.jpg

I like these better.

Bad kitty indeed

Ronda! Those shirts are FABULOUS! :thumbsup2

Costumes for drama club always come right after the Princess. So, that stress is nothing new to me. But!!! I have never left for a weeks vacation the DAY AFTER THE SHOW!!! :faint:

I promise I'll get to my RR.

as for the whole weight loss/healthy lifestyle stuff? I've been maintaining which is all I ask right now. When I get back from Disney (again :goodvibes) I'll get back on track. For now, holding steady is a major WIN!

Ronda, the shirts are so cool.
what is Soda Ash?

Nancy, holding stedy is a WIN

Karen, use the bike to help get weight off and rest the feet, And that WILL help with your running. I so understand how it feels to be in pain and want to run. Its been the story of my past 7 months.

Hello ladies. I really am trying to be less of a stranger around here.

Jo- 32 minutes is such a huge improvement, that is so awesome.

Ronda- I like to think I'm a creative person but I've always been intimidated by those tye dyed Mickey shirts. You did a great job.

Lisa- I have lots of funny stories about when I tried online dating. I did meet some nice people though and I think I learned a lot about myself from doing it.

Nancy- How king is the running on hold for?

I ran my first 5k since my ankle injury and I now have swelling to the point it looks like I have a golf ball poking out of the right side of my ankle, it's also a bit sore. I guess I didn't believe the doctor when she said the swelling could take a long time to completely go away. I need to be more faithful to my ankle exercises. I'm finally physically and mentally getting over what was a hard winter for me and I feel like I'm me again. (I know how silly that all sounds.)

I hope you all are getting the same amazing weather we have here in Boston and everyone is doing well.

Heeellllooooo ladies!!!! So sorry for the MIA but chaos has become my new best friend. Did I mention I got baboozled into being the team volunteer for a bunch of 11 year old screaming softball playing girls? Shoot me now. Please...:scared:

Was thinking of you guys the day of the race and wishing so badly I could be there. Next year for sure!:yay:

How do I find you guys on Facebook? It's much easier for me to get there more often than the DIS.:woohoo:

Oh! Side note: down a total of 8 pounds. Not exactly where I wanted to be by now but the clothes are getting looser.:dance3:

I finally got my name chart done (I'm such a dork:confused3)...I'll attempt to have them all straight when I'm not screwing around at work looking like I'm really busy.:rotfl2:

Let me know if anyone is WDW bound for Mom Day weekend. I'll be the one with Mickey shirt on.:laughing::laughing:

Spending the weekends with the DH running hills. May not sound like a biggie but keep in mind the only "hills" in South FL are dumps and highway overpasses. Back and forth over the turnpike 8-10 times is starting to make me feel a bit redundant...but absolutely DELIGHTFUL!:rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

Rhi-We still have to hook up. This softball craziness gets over in May so when I can breathe again and find out what's going on with my hip, we'll get to it. Went for an MRI last week and just waiting for the report. Hopefully I can get this taken care of once and for all. And SO happy:goodvibes your heart beat thing is okay!!:yay:

Keep the posts coming girls. You have NO idea how it makes me laugh, cry, and all that good stuff!!:grouphug:

I am not yet hooked up with everyone else, but you might be able to find me by email - rlcohen@mit.edu. I had some crazy stalkerish ex of an ex action once, so I put my profile on lockdown and I'm not really sure how to fix it or if people can find me. I may be able to find others easier-- or is there a Goddess Group? Hmm... if not, maybe that's something that could get up and running.

And yes-- we do need to get together! I apologize as well since busy has been my middle name these days. So far, the heart is checking out, but I'm stuck on a stress-induced UC flare-up that has been putting me through hell. Sigh. If you ever need softball help, I've coached on the hs, travel, and collegiate level and played pretty competitively as a pitcher for over 20 years.

I just got back from a trip to visit the Mouse, and sweet lord am I happy I am no longer limited to school vacations as to when I can go. The wait times for rides were ridiculous-- thankfully we only really hit the parks for dining reservations and to get some alcohol from Epcot. The alcohol lines weren't that long, so that was a win. :)

Trust me- when you finally make it down here, I will definitely put your softball skills to use. My hubby's kid is okay, not afraid of the ball, but has this idea in her head that she can't ever be more than 2 steps away from 3rd base. If the ball goes just over her head, she won't even try and jump for it.:scared1:

Going through SUPER Mickey withdrawal and May can't get here fast enough. My bro only lives 90 minutes away and gets there more often. He sends me pics all day so I can get down with the Mouse vicariously through him and my nephew:cool1:.

UC? If it's what I think it is...YIKES!! The DH is convinced everything is curable with Crown Royal on the rocks. I much prefer ice cream...hence, Weight Watchers:sad2:.

How about it ladies? Do the Goddesses have their own Facebook page?

Oh, and Ronda, I'll pay you to make me a bunch of those AWESOME Mickey shirts...lots!!!!!
