Ok I guess no one saw me post on the bottom of the other page :sad2:
Sorry Kat I did it's just there wasn't much going on :confused3 Great photos and I have to say I think you go out more in a week than I do in a year :rotfl2:

Jo played golf and shampooed her rug.
OMG I shampooed my rug :rotfl2: Sorry but that's a bit rude here :rotfl2:

Jo - thanks for the idea. I think I'll have my girls do a mock sleep-over. They're so little, most of them have never been away from mom & dad - and besides, T doesn't camp-out - so they're kinda screwed. :lmao:
I used to do mock sleepovers with my Rainbows aged 5-7 I also did mock camp fires, we used to put benches in a circle, the girls had torches with coloured film on to make the light pretty, one of the Dad's even made a fire from a light and stuff then we used to sing songs etc, all in the comfort of our school hall :rotfl2:

I have pics... :rolleyes1
And where are they??????

Jo, you told me where to go to read something. ;)
You didn't post so I didn't think you'd seen :rotfl2:

Hey, Jo? The Mom's Panel keeps freezing up my browsers :confused3 (I use both IE and the new Google browser. The IE will work until I try to close it. Google just freezes outright.)
Don't even get me started :headache: I can't get onto my questions so can't answer any!!!!

But, I just read T's question and your answer. Oh, dear god. :rotfl:
Walking or Waldo?

THEY FINALLY CLOSED OUR SCHOOLS! You mean -22 without windchill is not cold enough? They wait until we are projected at -30 without windchill! :headache:
OMG at least you're all nice and warm

Nothing planned today, I've already done the food shopping and it's just tidying and ironing for me today, can't wait :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Morning, Friends!

Jen, I hear ya! It's -16 with the wind chill here today. Poor SD is going to freak out if he has to keep standing at the bus stop in that! Every morning he gets up, puts on the news, sees all the towns that cancelled (except ours) and starts ranting! LOL... I'm sympathetic, but since I'm sick I really don't mind them being at school....KWIM?
However, it does beg the question, HOW COLD does it have to be!!??

I am at the part of the cold where it all breaks up. UGLY! Coughing, blowing, etc. Blech. Bob's coming home tonight and I think I'm going to banish him to the spare bedroom since I can't sleep without doing all that stuff! Right now I am seriously concerned that someone will get this and will be sick on our trip! That would be BAD. :scared1:

Today I was supposed to see my psychologist to update her and then take Gus to the dentist. Not sure on the dentist, but I'm rescheduling the psych. for tomorrow or Monday. I'm sure she wouldn't want me to infect her....

Does anyone know WHERE the Oak Trail Golf Course is? I'm not having any luck finding out online? It's the 9 hole course at WDW, but it doesn't say where......?

MEL:banana:

Nevermind, I found a good WDW golf site! If anyone wants to know (or cares...LOL) Oak Trail is at Magnolia near the Floridian....

MEL

Mr Diz is now on FB if anyone wants to request him as a friend.

Does he have a pet?

Slate, I finally got to check out the site you sent me. All I could do was  That salary scale scares the bejeesez out of me. Based on that to make his current salary Jim would have to be with your district for 31 years :faint:

Teacher pay is not great, but I'm assuming our cost of living is lower than where you are? :confused3

Don't even get me started :headache: I can't get onto my questions so can't answer any!!!!

Oh, no! Are they trying to help you?

Walking or Waldo?

Walking, I'd already seen the Waldo one. ;)

Nothing planned today, I've already done the food shopping and it's just tidying and ironing for me today, can't wait :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Have fun anyway!

Jen, I hear ya! It's -16 with the wind chill here today. Poor SD is going to freak out if he has to keep standing at the bus stop in that! However, it does beg the question, HOW COLD does it have to be!!??

When I was in college in IL, we had a day where the ambient temp was -25; the windchill was something like -40. This is a huge, live-on campus (not a lot of kids with cars, no parking, etc.), and they only "retroactively" canceled classes after none of us decided to walk around in that. Gee, thanks.

***********************************
Well, I might be losing the "who's the coldest?" game! It's 3 here, with a windchill of -9. :rotfl: Who knew that wouldn't cut it?

I have my tennis aerobics class this morning, then my friend called to see if I could sub in for some friendly doubles at 12:30, so it's tennis all day! Woohoo!
We'll just ignore the stuff I still need to do at home, OK? :rotfl2:

So, I need to get my act together.

Have a great day, everyone! :grouphug:

Feel better :goodvibes

I just read an interesting article that my dad sent down from his paper in NY and it made me think of you all and school issues...

"Outlawing Boyhood" ~ It's all about how we've worked so hard over the last few decades to close the gap between boys and girls in science and math and have left the boys in the dust not only because of our work to empower girls, but the work to demoralize boys, especially at the elementary level. Boys are diagnosed with attention disorders at four times the rate of girls...according to this author mostly because we expect boys to "act like girls" and sit still and focus.

I'm NOT looking to stir the pot by any means...it was just an interesting perspective.

I couldn't describe it any better.

Kate - Can you tell me the name of the newspaper. I'd like to see the whole article!

Me too.

I'm going to have to ask my dad...chances are it was the NY Post. But the article sites a book called The Trouble with Boys, by Peg Tyre. She investigated what she called "an education system in which women principals oversee women teachers who treat girl behavior as a standard"...and boys, who squirm, fidget, and pretend to shoot each other, are labeled as threatening, anti-social or special needs. Basically, public education, according to this woman, is doing a major disservice to young boys.

I have a relative who homeschools because she says "public school is for girls."

I think I could teach shopping and saleology.

They have mastered saleology. When we shop, they will pick up something and ask, "is this on sale enough for us to buy it?"

S'late you are such an enabler:lmao:

Guilty as charged, and you're welcome!

I don't think the neighbors will mind the green house, but the huge lime green mickey on lawn, maybe. :rolleyes1

:lmao:

I am the one now saying we need to do more than Disney. We already have our June trip planned and will renew APs, but I am telling him that next year I don't want to renew the AP and do something else. I'm thinking a cruise or Atlantis. We'll see.
It's hard to get back into the swing of things.

Hope you are feeling better. ds was home sick yesterday, but better today.

Do I hear Focker cruise?

I just looked at a math test DS9 took. He had 25 of 26 correct. That should be 96%, an A, or 4, meaning above grade level. BUT, because he didn't have 26/26, then he got a 3 which is meeting grade level expectations. I just don't get it. :confused3

Kate,

My BG twins should be a perfect case study of your summary of that article. I have a good feeling that DS's IQ is higher, but his grades are 2 levels lower. Why? Because he is a boy. He needs to touch it, roll it, make it explode; not hear a bunch of theory about it.

Have you heard back from the principal? Someone in that school owes you an explanation about the grading system and why your son is where he is.

I'll call my dad today and see if he can remember where the article came from. Caveat, my dad will cut out articles for months before he sends them to me...welcome to retirement in the great white north. ;)

Morning :goodvibes

I hope all is well. Not much going on today. :woohoo: I get to clean up the house and do laundry...and start to get ready for #2's birthday party on Saturday.

Stay warm.

Well, I might be losing the "who's the coldest?" game! It's 3 here, with a windchill of -9. :rotfl: Who knew that wouldn't cut it?

Have a great day, everyone! :grouphug:

Yeah, CE, your temps aren't cutting it. It's now 9:00 here and it's still -5 with a windchill of -26. Don't know how cold it got overnight! Tomorrow is supposed to be colder yet.

So, school was delayed two hours this morning. I guess the busses have problems starting in this weather. Plus, they don't want kids standing out at the bus stop with -26 wind chill. So, DD7 is still home. The bus will come at about 10:30.

I've also got my neighbor's daughter this morning. She's got some kind of scan to go to before her regularly scheduled radiation, so I'm watching her 4 year old. Not a big deal since we have nothing planned anyway. DD4 has gymnastics at 1:00 and I'm planning to workout during her class. Otherwise, I'm just going to try to stay warm today!

Hope everyone has a great day!

Good Morning Computor seems a little better this a.m !! I just gave up yesterday it was jumping all over and I was getting extremely frustrated !!

But, I just read T's question and your answer. Oh, dear god.

Wasn't that hysterical:lmao:

Thanks for the recap!! I hope Jimmy feels better!

He seems ok today:confused3

Janet- We all have bad days. Jimmy had his. For the month. Cheers to a better day tomorrow.

Thanks Jen!

Make sure you keep that eczema covered! I like to put a nice thick layer of aquaphor on top of the RX cream to seal it. (Except for fingers... which are really hard to seal). [/QUOTE}

::yes:: Elidel, hydrocortisone, and then Eucerin on top of that! It looks so much better today. I lathered him up for school too!:thumbsup2

THEY FINALLY CLOSED OUR SCHOOLS! You mean -22 without windchill is not cold enough? They wait until we are projected at -30 without windchill! :headache:

Ok, I'm not going to complain about our weather...you will think I'm a wimp!:guilty:

OMG I shampooed my rug :rotfl2: Sorry but that's a bit rude here :rotfl2:

:confused3  :scared1: :rotfl2:

Hi Mel

Teacher pay is not great, but I'm assuming our cost of living is lower than where you are? :confused3

:confused3

We'll just ignore the stuff I still need to do at home, OK? :rotfl2:

OK:thumbsup2

I don't think the neighbors will mind the green house, but the huge lime green mickey on lawn, maybe. :rolleyes1

We could always just paint on the side of the house instead:rolleyes1

I just looked at a math test DS9 took. He had 25 of 26 correct. That should be 96%, an A, or 4, meaning above grade level. BUT, because he didn't have 26/26, then he got a 3 which is meeting grade level expectations. I just don't get it. :confused3

I emailed this to Jim and his response is "what the $%^& is that teacher on?"

Because he is a boy. He needs to touch it, roll it, make it explode; not hear a bunch of theory about it.

This is so Jimmy too!

I'll call my dad today and see if he can remember where the article came from. Caveat, my dad will cut out articles for months before he sends them to me...welcome to retirement in the great white north. ;)

IT's the same when they retire to the south:rolleyes:

I have a conference next Thursday.

WHAT! I would be fuming right about now!

Yeah, CE, your temps aren't cutting it. It's now 9:00 here and it's still -5 with a windchill of -26. Don't know how cold it got overnight! Tomorrow is supposed to be colder yet.

As I said above, I'm not complaining about our weather so I don't look like a wimp:guilty:

=========================================================

Good Morning all. Jimmy got up for school today no problems. We shall see how the day goes. It's cold here, but I'm NOT complaining. I have to run to Macy's at lunch time. Jimmy's school is having an Eagles rally tomorrow so I want to get him a new sweatshirt to wear. He has a jersey, but as cold as it is going to be tomorrow I think a sweatshirt will be better! If I don't go at lunch, I will run to Kohl's after work.

Have a great day everyone~!

Good frigid morning Fockers! Can you believe it was 35 here this mroning? Apparently it'll be a whopping 5-ish when I land in Buffalo tomorrow. Lovely.

Sorry I can't quote all I want - I've got to go do some work. But hugs to all of us having child-rearing challenges and congrats to Gus and Lindsey and anyone else who had a better day!

And, I'm happy to say, that includes Leo! He had a great day yesterday - I'm so glad! :goodvibes

Hey V- you know NYC isn't too far from Buffalo....and there are a few Fockers in the semi near distance...Just saying:rolleyes1
Okay, I had to quote this because you craked me up... dude, NYC's like 8 hours away from Buff.! That's one of my 3 days there, so I won't be able to make it. Thanks for teh invite, though! :)

I just looked at a math test DS9 took. He had 25 of 26 correct. That should be 96%, an A, or 4, meaning above grade level. BUT, because he didn't have 26/26, then he got a 3 which is meeting grade level expectations. I just don't get it. :confused3
And I had to quote this because it made me gag. This is INSANE!!!

I forgot...

Was anyone placing wagers on whether or not, or how soon, I would change my Aug. ressie at AKV?!

Changed today. Hope someone scored some points. ;) I'm back to where I wanted to be when I first started thinking about an Aug. trip - BCV in a studio, leaving some points for Dec. and maybe Halloween again. :yay:

Also, I'm seriously considering Memorial Day Weekend at - GASP! - Universal. Maybe not even the actual parks - they don't have much to offer a scared-of-most-rides Leo - but Loews Royal Pacific looks pretty nice for some relaxing and they're offering some great rates. :thumbsup2

Granted I don't want to wait a week for the conference, but they are testing this week.

As for the grading system, it has be believing that elem school is a complete waist of time. I think is has to do with that NCLB sh@$, but it is not helping my child and his self esteem.

Hi everyone!

V: Pack your long undies, girl! It's FRIGID up here!

I did a very quick clean of the main level. Basically, quick vacuum, clean both bathrooms and loaded dishes. I'm done. I am way too sick to do more, and it looks fine. I am going to clean before our trip anyway, so it can wait.

I am going to get some rest and then I have to drive Gus to his dentist appt. during lunch.

Have a good day peeps!

Oh, and YAY for all the kiddos having better days!

MEL:banana:

Just had to share that I got a call from the Vet today. Max's bloodwork from Monday came back perfectly normal!!!!!!!!!!!!

Obviously, I'm very happy that it wasn't really bad, but I'm also a bit confused. When we ran the test in mid-December, his liver function levels were really bad. I think she said normal would be under 13 and his number was 74! On Monday, it was 11.4.

I think we're still going to do an ultrasound later this spring to check things out, but it's not an emergency now. His liver could still be diseased and/or have tumors on it, but at least it's functioning pretty much normally.

Just had to share the good news! Sounds like others are having better news with the kids as well! Maybe this week is turning around???
