Okay, if you don't want a holiday downer, stop reading here, because I need to vent. Badly.

My mother and I agreed months ago to limit Xmas to not spending much on each other this year and even said one gift each for one another becasue she's in the middle of declaring bankruptcy and I desperately need to cut spending.

I got home today to find a pile of presents from her to me. I managed to get past the initial frustration and thought "just be thankful." And I was...

Until she got home a few minutes ago. I smiled and said "What happened to our agreement?" Gramma: "What agreement?" "That we'd only buy each other one thing this year to save money." Gramma: "Well, YOU'RE the one who gave me a whole LIST of things to get you." "Uh, that was list of ideas - never did I ask or expect you to get everything on it!"

I'm sitting here crying my eyes out, feeling like a fool and she's slamming doors. Another fantastic holiday with my mother. All I want to do right now is get in the car and drive until I'm too tired to see. I hate fraking Christmas.

I saw you updated. :hug:

The motha is on her way down tomorrow morning. I'll send you good thoughts if you send me the same. ;)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I got my card from Ed! I loooove it!
:hug:
Oh, V. I saw you updated too, but I had to send this: :hug:
Christmas is so hard. I was playing Trouble with Bob and the kids and Gus asked why we don't do anything special on Christmas Eve? I asked him, like what? He said we don't have a big dinner or go to church or see our family. :confused3
Sometimes I have to remind myself that it's not THEIR fault that we prefer our own company to our family's. Same with church. (Some here know that I'm not a "believer" and love me anyway...LOL) What do you tell your kids though? Gramma and Papa make me crazy? I need to drink ALOT when I see them? Church just isn't my "scene?"
I totally feel you on the frustration. Sorry, didn't mean to make that about me. I am commiserating with you...guess I rambled. :rotfl:
Glad you made some peace with Gramma, even if only for tonight (or as long as the wine lasts....LOL). Don't worry honey, it's almost over.
MEL
Glad things are a little better V. At 8om 24 hours of Christmas Story starts!:yay:
==========================================================
Jimmy is up getting his bath and brushing his teeth. Then it will be story and bed time:yay: I'm going to jump in the shower after he is in bed, this way I will know for sure he is asleep before Santa makeshis visit!:thumbsup2
IF I don't check back in I hope everyone has a wonderful Christmas and all your Christmas wishes come true:santa:
I just saw that Jen's( Princessjv) friend died last night. The one who had a blog going on Lemmondrops.blogspot...
I am so sorry Jen. But she is not hurting anymore. :hug:
Jen- I'm sorry to hear of your loss, and the loss for her family. :hug: :hug:
Okay, if you don't want a holiday downer, stop reading here, because I need to vent. Badly.
We are here for you. :hug: :hug: Feel free to vent as much as you need. I'm sorry you had to go through that. :hug: :hug:
Second, I'm better. Gramma and I talked, and while she'll never apologize for anything, things are a little less strained. A couple glasses of wine aren't hurting, either. :rolleyes:
I'm no longer plotting my getaway and, instead, am concentrating on getting things ready for Leo's return and trying to enjoy the rest of the night. Which may involve ignoring Gramma. ;)
I'm glad to hear things are a bit better. :hug: :hug: I think it's good that you've got your attention focused on something positive - Leo's return tomorrow morning. :hug: :hug:
Well...I'm part of the way through my baking. I'm done with my stuffing and my kugel. David...do you guys do Kugel during the holidays?
No Kugel at Hanukkah. We do a noodle/apple/raisin one at Rosh Hashannah and a potato one at Passover. We have done potato pancakes twice since Sunday. The kids are pushing for doughnuts, and we may give in on that this weekend.
Tonight we ended up picking up pizzas and visiting friends. Their daughter is about a year older than DD11 and is friends with all of our kids. She just had surgery over last weekend to put some pins along her spine. She's recovering and can't leave the house as yet. We did not stay too long after dinner as we did not want to stress her too much, but I think she enjoyed the visit.
Have a Very Merry Christmas Eve and Morning for those celebrating! :goodvibes
We're at my DMIL in NC for Christmas. We'll go home on Saturday and then turn around to drive to WDW for a week before the cruise. :woohoo:
:santa: Merry Christmas! :santa:
We have a big family meal on Christmas day. As we have several different faiths in my family. When we were younger, we celebrated both Christmas and Hanukkah. That was GREAT! ;)
Our holiday meal is a huge mishmash of culture and food.
Hmmmm...do you share kugel recipes? I know my family is very secretive about their recipes...but I've never seen a potato kugel.
I haven't done latkes in a few years. Now I'm having a craving. :teeth:
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I came to check in once before heading to bed. My brother should be in town shortly...and he is coming here first. I hope he hurries up because I need to get Jon in bed so that I can finish up "preparations".

I hope EVERYONE is nestled all snug in their beds. With visions of sugarplums dancing in their heads.

A very happy holidays to you all.

:hug:

These past few months have been difficult for us...and I always knew I could come here...to all of you...and I would have not only an ear, but some sound advice and comfort.

You ladies and gents rock!

Happy Holidays, Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukkah, Happy Festivus!

Group hug! :grouphug:

Merry Christmas my Focker friends!
Thought I'd repost.......cause it's.....ya know.....the night before Christmas!.........get it???
Hey---it's already Christmas for Jo, right????

'Twas The Night Before Christmas
An Original Focker Poem by TE!

T'was the night before Christmas
And I just couldn’t sleep
Thoughts of old friends and new
Made me not get a peep

I went to the kitchen
in search of a bite.
If I filled up my stomach,
perhaps I'd sleep tight.

The cupboard was empty
the fridge, it was bare.
I searched in the crockpot
But no food anywhere!

I looked out the window:
Streets covered with snow;
It’s two in the morning
Could I still talk to Jo?

I spied my computer,
I’ll go bootup that.
Thanks to Rosie’s puter skills
I’ll have some Christmas Eve chat.

My puter came to life
without even a miss!
In the blink of an eye,
I’ll be able to DIS!

But-----where was my Janet?
And Where was my Mel?
Oh Katt, Kat, and Lessa,
And Jens—please do tell!

My threads were all opened
And I waited to chat
But the Fockers were silent
Can’t imagine that!

No Dawn, V, or Ed
Wow--that's just great…
Not even a Tracy
for a Waldo update!

Maybe Z’s working late,
Or Rachel too!
Not even an Angela
To say “Miss you too!”

Where are Slate and Mary?
I felt so alone.
Guess CE’s with her hubby….
So I can’t use the phone!

But wait! One more refresh!
Now what do I see?
There's someone else out there.
Wanting to talk to me!

In wonder---I read:
"Hey---it's 3:53.
Your friends are all sleeping;
that's where you should be".

"Turn off that 'puter.
Take your hand off that mouse.
I have a few things
to drop off at your house".

"You know I can't stop there
while you're still awake.
I have schedules to keep.
Come on----Give Me A Break!"

If you really are Santa
(that jolly, old elf)
there's only one present
I'd wish for myself.

The folks on my DIS list.
Those friends far and near.
You just gather them up
and bring them right here.

In just a few hours
I awoke with a start.
It was only a dream--I sighed
heavy of heart.

I walked down the stairs
and there 'round my tree,
were all of the people
I thought I'd never see.

We laughed and we {{{{{hugged}}}}}
and we just had a ball.
Hmmmmmm--maybe that wasn't
a dream after all.

So to all of my friends
I do say with great cheer
Merry Christmas my Fockers!
I wish you were here…..

I almost completely messed up! I went to go to bed and I remembered Santa had not come yet! :eek: :sad2:

NOW I can go to bed!!! :cutie:

Am I REALLY THE ONLY ONE UP

Sarabeth woke up at 6:22 We laid in bed till 7:00 but with all the footsteps upstairs it got to be too much.

Kids are waiting for Scott to finish his shower so they can open up the booty "Santa" Brought them .

after that it's off to "Denny's" for Breakfast and then I begin working on Christmas dinner for around 1:00.

Merry Christmas, Focker Friends!

We were mean and made the girls wait until it was light outside to get up. But, we're done unwrapping and the girls are busy playing with their new toys. We're eating my french toast casserole and watching the girls play with their new toys. Isn't Christmas great?

Merry Christmas!!! My kids still have yet to open. Then we make them do it one at a time!

Then Hanukkah tonight. Lucky ducks.

Have a wonderful day fockers! :cool1:

SMART is a better word. Ya know it was nothing more than a "Block of wood" .. But Paul figured out a way to shape it and call it a Stunt Stepper"

It's a great little thing.. allows the girl to achieve her stunt on a small space.. before trying it with a partner.

Now.. it's all up the the Guy/ or gals... to be a stable base for the girl performing that trick.:thumbsup2

Merry Christmas S'late and Jodi

Dawn... How did that "Puzzle" go Over... I am sooo happy for you guys.

Morning Everyone! Merry Christmas! Happy Hanukkah!

The boys woke us at 7:30 am. We had them go downstairs and retrieve the stockings and we made coffee. Had the stockings opened and 1 cup of joe in us by the time we made it down for the "big stuff" at 8 am.

Boys loved their gifts, and were surprised to see their LARGE items under the tree as well. :goodvibes
I got some great things! Plenty of candy (they know about my sweet tooth) some great lotion from Bob, a Dirty Dancing calendar from Bob (it's sort of a family joke how I've seen it about 200 times!!), gift certs to Target, Borders and Sbux. A new mixer! ( I asked for it! ) And lots of other stuff!
I feel loved too!

We had orange rolls for breakfast. I have now finished watching the whole Disney Parade (I was secretely hoping to see Jo and the Moms on there, as they usually film it the week she was there....) and I'm going to make an apple pie to have with our ham dinner tonight.

Hope you all got what you wished for! LY Fockers!
