What were you pulled over for?

See if I am braless I am in danger of tripping over the girls. Or stepping on them.

I was in a hurry to pick up my four year old before the 7 year old got home from school. Unfortunately, I had to pass said school on the way. Limit was 25 and I don't really know how fast I was going (probably 32ish). Cop saw me tap my brakes so he pulled me over. Luckily for me, he didn't have his radar going, so he couldn't prove anything!

Hi, Deb!

Oh, Kate, I don't know. Could you load up a digital picture frame with the boys, or are you looking more toward a food/basket type gift?

Hey Cutie!

I was in a hurry to pick up my four year old before the 7 year old got home from school. Unfortunately, I had to pass said school on the way. Limit was 25 and I don't really know how fast I was going (probably 32ish). Cop saw me tap my brakes so he pulled me over. Look at all these Fockers mixing it up with the cops :rotfl: I can't believe he pulled you over for 32. That has got to be embarrassing for him.

Cop to other cop friends later that day "I collared a young mom doing 32 MPH, the roads are a lot safer now."

I think I can walk faster then 32 miles per hour. :sad2:

Alright, I'm officially enlisting the help of my Fockers...

I have an aunt in Brooklyn who is incredibly generous with my boys, both at birthdays and Christmas. In the past I have always baked and sent out my own gift baskets of sorts to extended family. This year I've not only run out of time, but can manage to do a little more than a DIY gift. I'd like to send her something...but what???? She's an allergy sufferer, so plants are out. She's borderline diabetic, so sweets are not a good idea. Gift baskets are ridiculously expensive! Even Costco.com is trying to get me to spend $19.95 for 3 water crackers, 3.75 oz of cheese, 2 oz of salmon and ONE chunk of chocolate weighing in at 1.05 ounces!

I'm at a loss....

2 words. Harry & David. Wait, that's 2 words plus an ampersand. ;) Whatever, but I'd suggest H&D if you have one. They have wonderful soup mixes, funky salsas, etc. You could make a nice gift box (baskets are too expensive) or send a treat tower.

Hi Mrs. K! long time no see. :goodvibes

Kat, it's gone, really? It's still pouring down here - we probably have about 6 inches so far. I shoveled the walk to take the dog out, and it's very nice and light. :thumbsup2

Yea nothing on the streets and most sidewalks have been cleared off! You can hardly tell it snowed at all!

Just a quick check-in. Got home from the doctor with DD4. It seems that she has strep! :scared1: I learned that in younger kids (under age 5-6), strep doesn't always show up as a sore throat. It can be cold symptoms, fever and vomiting. Who knew? Anyway, the rash was a tell-tale sign and she's now on amoxil. Now gotta hope that DD7 doesn't catch it too!

At least she will be on the antibiotics and better for xmas!!! :thumbsup2

I am more than half way done with my wrapping!:cool1: I attended a wrapping party last night where we wrapped and drank Pomegranate Martini's YUMMMMMMMMMY! I am vegging out all night and tomorrow will be baking with my friend. Baking is a tough thing, since my "mom" and I always baked, baked, baked. I am fortunate to have good girlfriends to help me through it.

I am totally with you on the baking thing! It was my mom who baked for the whole family and as a kid I always did the decorating. Then eventually she moved and got married to my now passed away step father, into a small house where she couldn't fit to bake a ton of cookies....so it was passed to me.I think of her every time I'm rolling out the dough to make those cookies!

Hi ladies, guess who is done with school until the second week of January? Boy am I glad to be done. I still have not gotten my tree up, wrapped the presents, made the cookies, and my house is in such a state I do not even know where to begin cleaning. I will also be off work for the next two weeks and look forward to spending some quality time with the kids and you all. Hope everyone is doing well.

Man o man you are gonna have one heck of a week- good luck!!!!

Here is a little story for you all about my gross lazy neighbor.
They had a dog this last summer that they took really bad care of. I called the authorities on them once and now they will not talk to me at all. Not a bad thing since they are just not my kind of people. Well for a long time I did not see the dog and all the stuff in the yard for it was gone. I thought great, they realize they can not care for animals and sent him to a good home.

Well I have no idea what happened to the other dog but today I noticed they have a new puppy. How did I notice this you may ask? Since the weather is bad and the lady is to lazy to shovel a small path to the yard, she has been standing inside the door with the dog going potty on the porch:scared1: . Yep, the front porch. Then her, her husband, and any friends today, have been walking on the same porch to get in and out of the house. It is not a big porch that the dog could go off to the side. No he was on the leash just outside the door. All I can think is how gross to have to walk in that and then into the living room. They also have a son who is still crawling. Yep, he is now crawling on that gross floor:sad2: .

Ok dude, thats just GROSS. I don't deal w anything cross contaminating in this house, KC thinks I'm nuts but things that don't go near food don't go anywhere near my ktichen, i'm a bit crazed about it but I don't do icky!

Tomorrow is our tamale party. Oh joy.

Ok excuse the white girl married to the hispanic...is a tamale the same thing as pasteles????

Christmas Eve:

Scallops, Flounder, Lobster Tails, Shrimp, Crab Legs

FOr the non-FIsh eaters: Mancotti, Meatballs, Spaghetti

Fresh Bread

Dessert of some sort

Christmas Day:

Ham, POtatoe Salad, Macaroni Salad, Deviled Eggs, Green Bean Casserole, Carrots, PLain Green BEans (for Jimmy), Pickles, Olives,

Cheese Cake, Chocolate Eclairs, and Cream Puffs!

Uh Janet....set us 2 places what time should we be there??? Man that sounds amazing!!!!

Oooh, the gnocci sound fantastic! (I like Coq au vin, too, but...)

I might watch "Enchanted" next. The boys like it, but they haven't picked it in quite a while. popcorn::

I got all kinds of silly one day and made gnocci from scratch- it was fairly easy and freezed beautifully!

I think Enchanted is in my top 5 Disney movies.

OK FOCKER POLL: Name your top 5 Disney Movies!!

What about a food basket with sugar free goddies in it? http://www.figis.com is one of my fav gift sites for stuff like that! Where in Brooklyn, if you don't mind me asking?

##############################

Well we are in the home stretch of cleaning....the bathroom needs a mopping and then we are done! We pulled out the friggin fridge today, it was a LOT of work! Soon I'm being exiled into the bathroom so KC can wrap my few gifts he got me.

So for tomorrow's "party" here's the menu....

I'm making:
Spinach & Artichoke Dip w/tortilla chips for dipping.
Pigs in a blankets (cut up hot dogs w colby cheese wrapped in creset rolls actually)
deviled eggs

Friends are bringing:
Columbia snack foods like empanadas and chorizo.
Greek deserts including baklava

Plus everyone has been instructed to bring their "spirits" of choice and their own shot glass (LOL but we don't have enough).

they are due over at 6 ish so I prob won't be on until Sunday but I assure you there will be pictures!

So everyone have a great night and a great Saturday! :grouphug:

T-We do our Christmas dinner on Christmas eve-we're having Coq au vin and four-cheese gnocci for the vegetarians (me! :)) and a scallop dish.
Ooh... gnocci? Yummo! I just tried gnocci for the first time this week. It's awesome. Do you have a recipe to share? :teeth:

Dude, I am so like coming to your house for Christmas. I think I'm a white chick in a brown girls body. :lmao:
We do Christmas Eve as a block party (inside, though) and so we all bring stuff - I like my neighbor's chili. :) I need an idea for Christmas Day - we eat with our friends and we do something different every year, but the rule is that it can't be complicated as we don't want to spend a lot of time thinking about cooking.
Ooh, that sounds like fun, CE. :goodvibes
Lesson learned. Don't jack with history.
:rotfl2: Olive oil! OMG! :rotfl2:
By the way I love tamales. So anyone making them can send them to me. Just PM me if you need the address.
Pfft! :lmao:
Ok excuse the white girl married to the hispanic...is a tamale the same thing as pasteles????
Yup. A bit different, but the same concept. Weird. :lmao:
LOL at white girl married to the hispanic - all my brothers married white girls.

OK FOCKER POLL: Name your top 5 Disney Movies!!

Well the weather here is impossible, it has been snowing heavily all day and on top of that it is really windy so shoveling has been pretty much impossible because as soon as you clear the driveway the wind blows everything back. :headache:

Despite the crazy weather I went out to see Yes Man tonight, hilarious movie, I was laughing the whole way through. Gotta love Jim Carrey and not just because he is Canadian. ;)

Hi Rachel :wave2:

How are the moving plans going?

We had terrible news yesterday. Just terrible. I know that I have shared with you the terrible battle our friends are going through. Emilie was diagnosed with a rare sarcoma while pregnant, surgery was done, she and the baby survived, after delivery she had a full CT scan to reveal the cancer had spread to her lungs, liver and hip. Their baby is now 9 months, their other son is just 2.5. Emilie keeps an amazing Blog, which has been an honest account of her strength and weakness as she battles this awful fight. I have posted the blog a few times along her journey. If you are interested in reading her last entries, you can find her at: lemmondrops . blogspot . com (take spaces out)

One of the hardest posts... Knowing it was coming... one is never prepared to read it.

Ok, you should see me when I make a turkey. Bob cracks up because I'm so freaky about the "raw poultry germs." I get the bird all done, then I wash my hands (HOT water) then I scrub every surface that MIGHT have come in contact. Then I bleach the sinks out and then all the washcloths and dishtowels get replaced. I have a serious aversion to "icky" myself!!!

Hi Rach! Yay! You're almost done work!!!!!!!

Good Morning JANET!!!

*****************************

Hi guys! I woke up early today. Bob's sleeping away so I thought I'd come out and get stuff ready.
I am going to make orange rolls for bfast and some coffee.
I also have to bake a crumb-top apple pie, cupcakes and make squash for the party tonight.

The boys have music lessons at 11/11:30 today. I have to bring them (the roads STILL aren't plowed!!!) because Bob needs to do shopping for me and the boys! Argh. I still haven't gotten him or the boys anything to unwrap. I'm stressing now! I have to get out tomorrow for sure or I'll never get anything done.

Kat, your party sounds fun!

So, where is everyone? :rolleyes1

Hi Mel

Apparently Gabe got in on the gangsta too....(I call Gabe KC's work wife because they bicker like they are married...lol)
Looks like you had fun!

We have an acre and it's mostly wooded. We're close to neighbors, but can't see in their houses, and there are no houses on the other side of our street. :thumbsup2 I like it as I'm a country girl, you know?
Sounds lovely :goodvibes

Seemed like a reasonable question to me.
Me too :rotfl2: I think here, not that we get much, but it's illegal to drive with snow on your roof!

Just a quick check-in. Got home from the doctor with DD4. It seems that she has strep!
Poor thing, the tablets will help though!

Hi ladies, guess who is done with school until the second week of January?
Fantastic, Hiya Margie!

I've never seen it - let me know if it's good.
You've never seen Love Actually :faint: It's full of English accents so you have to see it :rotfl2:

Plus it's British, so I think of Jo. ;)
Ahhhh, so do you think I sound like that? :rotfl2:

Pigs in a blankets (cut up hot dogs w colby cheese wrapped in creset rolls actually)
Our pigs in blankets are small sausages wrapped in bacon :confused3 Have fun at your party!

We had terrible news yesterday.
I'm so sorry

We've been so lazy this morning, the girls and I spent ages cuddled up in bed just chatting, they spoilt it though when I had my shower and they kept argueing :headache: They've been out and delivered some cards for me and we're just chilling :cloud9:

Jen How sad about your friend!
To all who are sick or sad or snowed in:grouphug: :grouphug:
Kat I am making sausage roll stoday! Jo knows what they are !!!:) I call cabbage rolls pigs in blanket also !! Not even gonna attempt the polish spelling:rotfl2:

Missed this earlier: Top Five Disney Movies

As a child of the 90's I have to go with

1. Little Mermaid
2. Beauty and the Beast
3. Aladdin
4. Lion King
5. Sleeping Beauty (yes I know that is not a 90's movie) ;)

Jen - I am so sorry about your friend, that is so hard especially with such young children being left behind.

Oh Jen!   That was incredibly hard to read...I can't even imagine your heartache right now. Her family, and yours, will remain in my thoughts.

I'm right there with you! I usually wear two pairs of latex gloves and I don't let anyone in the kitchen with me, you know, in case of a flying salmonella :rotfl2:

****************************

Thanks for the suggestions for my aunt. If I had more time the digital frame would have been a perfect idea. For now, I'm looking at what they have a Figis...thanks Kat.

We're off to do some shopping for DH, then guitar lesson for #1 and hopefully a peaceful afternoon. I don't know about your houses, but my children start to act crazier the closer we get to Christmas. It's as if they are trying to make me regret all the money I just spent on their gifts. :headache:

I'll check back later...  to all in need.

Well, I think DD4 is definitely on the mend. It's amazing what one dose of antibiotics will do! But, she's not supposed to go anywhere for 24 hours, so we're stuck inside today. That's okay though, because my plan is to get my house cleaned. I also need to make a casserole for our Sunday School brunch tomorrow and I want to bake some cookies for Grandma and for another widowed lady at our church. She lost her husband a few years ago and has no children and I just heard last week that she's refusing to eat much. She's pretty depressed so I thought a gift basket of homemade things from my girls might help. Of course, DD4 isn't going to be helping with the cookies.

DH is working an ambulance shift overnight tonight. He may stop and visit his mom on the way to work. There's still no change in her condition. Still in a collar staring at the ceiling. Doctors told my FIL yesterday that they hope she'll be home for Christmas! That's almost a week away!
