I twirled rifle too... when I showed up for camp.. and knew how to twirl I was asked where had I taken camp or had lessons?.." I said... in my yard with my BB Gun... at first... then I moved up to my 22 Rifle.. Unloaded of Course ":rotfl2: :rotfl2:

:lmao:

Hello all... just popping in looking for my ambition...anyone find it? I seem to have lost it! :lmao:

I have it!

Also got cards from S'late: OMGosh! You're kids have grown and you DD is beautiful! :goodvibes

awww, thank you!

Sarabeth is home sick today too
Oh no, hope she's better soon!

He'll like that but wait until you get satellite radio! :thumbsup2
I don't think we have them here yet :confused3

Good morning all! :sunny:
That was a nice sunny hello :goodvibes Hope everyone gets better!

The weather for tomorrow morning looks a little sketchy, so even if they decide that school could go on because they're getting the wires up, we might have a weather problem anyway. :headache: 2-4 inches of snow tonight (which is no problem) but changing to sleet just as the morning gets going, so some slippery ice accumulation is expected. Not enough to re-destroy all the power lines, but enough to make driving fun. Sigh.
Silly question but what happens on snow days to the kids who have both parents working???? Good score on the skis :goodvibes

There are so many things to look at once she gets older. I think public school is completely out again, but I'm not ruling out something else if I get too overwhelmed or feel like I can't do a subject as well as I'd like. :thumbsup2
Sounds like you're happier with everything :goodvibes

SaludosBBs87.gif
Wow that's a jazzy one :rotfl2:

so now it's snowing...and I hate snow...moving to florida is looking more appealing by the minute...lol. It's bad out thee, i'll take some pics out the window.
So is my sister going to get a shock when she moves in 13 days time? :rotfl2:

I am DONE DONE DONE. I finished all my Non-Bob,SD,Gus shopping! WHOOOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
Now I can wrap, package, bake cookies and ship everything! Yay!
Cards are all on their way to you guys!
Wooohooo :thumbsup2

Jess is hopefully up for school tomorrow, I think that she just gets run down at the end of term! Ellie had her final school concert tonight which means it's closer to Christmas oh and David has just come downstairs with some wrapped pressies for me :goodvibes

:confused3 I got lost...

I pay school taxes and even though we don't go to public school. We don't have a choice with that. Also- I don't want to use the same curriculum. I like to tailor what I use to my kids.

Camryn just finished 2 2nd grade books and will be doing 3rd grade fully before February. She's sharp. Aiden doesn't care as much and isn't doing much besides letters and learning to read. One main reason I do this is so they can learn at their level- whether it's faster or slower.

O.K... Yes we all PAY TAXES .. even if our kids are NOT in PUBLIC SCHOOL.
They have tried the "Voucher" system for Christian and other Private Schools but that's not working anywhere I am aware of is it :confused3 and they do not apply to Homeschoolers.

What I would LIKE TO SEE.. is the States OFFER those who wish to home school to enroll in a Program.. that gives the Mom's, Dad's whoever, access to the same materials and tests that the schools use. and then the Home Schoolers be tested .. given the SAME TEST as the rest of the kids.

Example:
I go to Glen Cove.. sign up for a "Public School at Home Program" then each week or Once a Month... I go to the school.. pick up the same work those students enrolled AT THE SCHOOL will be doing. I teach Sarabeth the same thing Public School kids are being taught.. BUT AT HOME BY ME.

In Turn.. The School ( Glen Cove... which Normally gets "X number of dollars" a day my kid in in class... gets a "percentage of "X dollars".. (maybe half.. )for working with the "Public School at Home Program"

There are Parents out there that leave public school because of lack of structure, lack of GOD, Too much HOME WORK, any number of reasons...
would RATHER have the Public school education THAT THEY PAY FOR.. but are forced to educated their kids elsewhere. Some would LIKE to home school ( ME) but finding the right curriculum... and making sure my kid learns WHAT SHE NEEDS TO LEARN.. is tough.

Problem with government is .. no body with the intelligence of a Lightening bug ( and I apologize to all Lightening bugs every where:goodvibes ) works in government.
This idea could work.. and take stress off of parents and maybe even make more money for the schools.. IF they played their cards right.

When they are tested.. so would Sarabeth.

Forgot to mention that I can twirl a baton....probably not while playing the trumpet.

DH and DS11 play sax.

DD can cheer and DS9 can be the drum major because he likes yelling at everyone.

:rotfl2:

And Katt: You're card was so sweet and I even got all verklempt reading it!

Be back later, kid! :flower3:

Thanks.. I mean that to all of you guys... :lovestruc

Kirt's buying a new truck today. This weekend his all but died, so he wants to trade it in before it's completely done. :headache:

It's 35 here, so we're hiding in the house also. I don't really have any money, or I'd go buy a stinkin' coat. I have a light sweater, but nothing for this kind of weather. brrrr!

Oohh sorry about the truck.. did you see the writing on the wall with that ??
and WHY IS IT COLDER THERE than it is here ?? It is 40 here.. yesterday it was 60  first warm day we have had since October.

Jodi.. I 'll get back to you on what instrument we still need for the band :rolleyes1
Dawn.. how do you feel about being a cheerleader or a Majorette ??

And a Side note here.. concerning my Twirling BB Guns and 22 cal rifle...
When I was handed a "guard rifle".. since I was used to twirling something much HEAVER... I kind of tossed that thing a BIT HIGH the first time... BUT I CAUGHT IT... I also tended to have a trifle too much spin :rotfl2:

When I was in ROTC we use M1A1's (22's) for Pershing Rifles.

I survived the 2nd graders yesterday. I wasn't at school that long. I am going to help out in the class Thursday. They are having their class party. After school Thursday, I am taking the kids to SC and leaving ds with my sister. She is taking him to Myrtle Beach. I would like to get my other sis to take dd, but Mr Diz doesn't want dd to go.

HEY, I work in government! ;)

!

V.. If I had you HIGH ENOUGH UP... I THINK you have enough common sense to correct some things...
All the smart government people I know are not in the "FIXING AUTHORITY"

O.K... I am offically worried... I sent out my Secret Santa and me Ornament on Thursday... STILL NO ONE HAS MENTIONED THEY HAVE IT.. :guilty:

Quick update on the kids. DD11 is feeling much better. DS6 has no more sore throat, and has had a normal temp the last few times I've checked. Seems like we are on the mend.:thumbsup2

I posted this over on the DVC board, but I wanted to get the views of my preferred DVC experts over here. :goodvibes

We've almost completed the decision/rationalization process for buying into DVC. :woohoo: I thought I'd come to those with more experience for some advice on our thought process regarding points.

We are a family of 5 and are looking at BLT as our potential home resort. We'd like to travel for about a week each year in early June. The kids' school ends in late May, and DW's teacher work days extend into the first week of June. I've been getting cross-eyed staring at the BLT point charts to try to decide how many points we should purchase.

I'm thinking that 280 would work as a good round number. 276 is the weekly total a 1-BR LV for Dream Season (June 1-10). If our trip goes over into Magic Season for a day or two in a given year, I should have a point buffer banked to make up the difference (280DP incentive for this summer - 8 nights in SSR 1-BR in Magic Season, bank 280 points from 2009 Use Year for use going forward). If we need to take a trip fully in Magic Season for a given year, we have enough points for a 1-BR SV or 1-BR LV (w/18 banked or borrowed points). That point total would also get us a 1-BR during Dream or Magic Season at pretty much any other DVC resort, or a 2-BR at some.

Our thinking was also to break the points into 2 contracts, a 200 pt and an 80 pt. Our oldest is 11, so in 7-10 years, who know if she will want to continue vacationing with us at Disney. Similarly, a couple years later for each of the other kids. I hope they will want to come, but I'm not sure. If they continue to come, we may need more points, or use the point where and when we can get a 2-BR. If they don't, a 200 point contract will leave us with enough points for a Studio at BLT during Premier Season for 6 or 7 nights depending on the view choice, and at least a full week MK view in any other season.

If you've made it this far, you are free to tell me how far I've over-analyzed this. :rolleyes1 Any suggestions, comments, or pointing out holes in my reasoning will be appreciated.

:thanks:

Back to work for a little while anyway. :surfweb: TTFN!

I guess that would be an interesting choice, as long as it's not mandatory. I would hate for the government to get involved in my choices for homeschooling. I don't want anyone else dictating what to teach and when to teach it.

There are a lot of choices, but it's fairly easy to pick one and stick with it. For example, Abeka is a curricula used by many private schools. We, as homeschoolers, can also purchase the same curricula and teach it. They also have DVDs that you pop in and all the parent would do is assist with any questions.

There are also tests that homeschoolers can take. I have tests that go with my curriculum to see if they get what I'm teaching. There are also standardized tests that tell me how she's doing compared to the other kids who take it.

There are also classes on-line, that aren't considered homeschooling but that would do everything. You pay and they teach, answer questions and grade the work.

Oohh sorry about the truck.. did you see the writing on the wall with that ??
It's got 170,000 miles on it. It's lived a busy life! It just stinks that we just paid off $500 a month of debt only to have to spend it. At least we did free it up.
