Sorry about your dog, but happy birthday to the kids!

I know what you mean, CE. Our school system starts in mid-August (last year it was Aug. 11th), but we get out right after Memorial Day. We have two built-in snow days and as of today, we've used them both! We now have school on the Tuesday after President's Day and the Friday before Memorial Day. Any more snow days and we'll start adding days at the end of the year. I'm hoping we'll still be out of school before the end of May. :thumbsup2

I think we used to start about the 20th of August, but then we didn't get ANY spring break - just 2 1/2 days around Easter weekend (a diverse community, we were not.) :rolleyes: But yeah, we were usually done, if not Memorial Day weekend, by the end of that week. I guess it's just what I'm used to, but I like it a lot better.

Our auto call system didn't call me until 6:45 this morning. It was really late. I started worrying that we'd actually have school today, until I looked outside and saw 9 inches on the ground! All I could think is that the busses for the high school kids usually come around 7am, so they were cutting it a little close!

I thought that last time we had a cancellation - the call came late - about a half hour before the h.s. bus rolls by. I wondered if they have some sort of schedule where the h.s. students get called first - I know it's not simultaneous as my cell always rings a few minutes before or after.

My call was early this morning - 5:15. So far there's MAYBE a half inch, but it's supposed to get worse through the day and not better, so I suppose it makes sense. I almost, just due to the make up days, wish they'd sent them and sent them home at noon, if it's like this. :sad2:

I'm in SE MA, and we were prepared for snow. So far it's not horrible, but we shall see.

It's not bad here so far, either, but... I'm just hoping the ice doesn't actually come.

So, um.... this is probably not the best time to report a high of 76 today, huh?

:teeth:

I'm sorry! I'll try to steer some of it northward, k? :flower3:

It's OK. I wanted to live in FL last year, remember? That's why! :goodvibes

Hi everyone! I just got back from WDW last night. We left Friday after work and stayed at POP. I got $49 AP rate. Both my kids were born Jan 25, so they got the birthday gift cards - $63 each.

Sounds like a great trip, but I'm surprised by the crowds. I have a friend leaving Saturday to go.

Sunday morning, our neighbor called us to tell us our dog died. They fed her Saturday night and she was fine. He went to feed her Sunday morning and she was dead. She was old. I just hate that it happened while we were out of town.

Oh, no! :hug:

I don't think we'll be going anywhere today.... so I guess shoveling will be my workout! :rolleyes:

It's really very good for you. WW gives you something like a point off for every 10 minutes. :thumbsup2

When I took the dog out, there wasn't enough to even bother shoveling the walk yet. :confused3 I think I could go somewhere now if I wanted, but I don't think I have anything to do. Part of me thinks, "get out, so the day won't be as bad by 2:45 when the kids are insane from being home," but, with nothing needing done... :upsidedow

Uh-oh - have you tried heat on it?
No. I'm about to hobble downstairs and take advil. Maybe I can do heat on it when we get home. :guilty:

Hi everyone! I just got back from WDW last night. We left Friday after work and stayed at POP. I got $49 AP rate. Both my kids were born Jan 25, so they got the birthday gift cards - $63 each.

I could not believe how crowded WDW was. We went to MK Saturday and there were about 8 Brazilian tour groups. We left at lunch and went to Epcot to eat. We ate the CS in Japan and it was really good. They only offered Teriyaki chicken for the kids and ds did not like it, but dd shared the Noodle Bowl with me and loved it. We went back to MK for SpectroMagic. There was a fight right next to us. The guy in front of us told us he goes this same week every year and it has never been busy like this. Watched Wishes, then we went to ride Splash Mtn - no wait. It was dd's first time riding SM and she loved it. She clapped after we did the big Splash. I thought she would be scared.

Sunday we went to AK just to ride EE. Then we went to DHS, then DTD. The kids got to spend their gift cards.
Monday we did Epcot. Mel told me she would be there, but we never saw her. We took the boat to DHS to see Fantasmic. Some friends were at WDW at the same time, so we met them for Fantasmic and also Spectro and Wishes.

Sunday morning, our neighbor called us to tell us our dog died. They fed her Saturday night and she was fine. He went to feed her Sunday morning and she was dead. She was old. I just hate that it happened while we were out of town.
I'm glad you had a great trip. I'm sorry about your puppy. :guilty: How are the kids doing?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Camryn has had this runny nose junk for weeks and the Alavert just isn't cutting it. Today she says her chest hurts, so we're off to the doctor. I hate it when they don't feel good. :sad:
HAve a good day all!:goodvibes
:wave2: Morning Janet!
:wave: Morning Janet
I woke up at 4:30 could NOT go back to Sleep. They finally called Schools to be 2 hours late... :cheer2: I LOVE two hours late... No rushing..
We NEVER did get ANYTHING to LOOK AT :headache: but it did cold enough to make some places Icy.. before it warms up to nearly 50 degrees today.
I am Excited... We are going to Williamsburg and Staying at "Great Wolf Lodge" On Sunday. I got rooked out of my Anniversary night there and Kids are out of School Monday.
S'late... When the one opens up in Concord.. we need a "TFW" Meet there.
It's supposed to open in April.. but their rates are ugly.. I guess because it's spring break time. Usually they will have REALLY REALLY CHEAP RATES.. when they first open. Nice Little Water park.. and a great "Winter Escape"
Sounds like a nice little get-a-way! Hope you guys have fun!
Morning... I refuse to say good morning because I don't want to be up. We all got the sinus/allergy crap and I did something to a muscle in my leg that makes it hard to walk. It stiffens up and hurts after sitting too, so what's a tired momma to do? :sad2:
:hug: Hope your leg feels better and C too!
So, um.... this is probably not the best time to report a high of 76 today, huh?
:teeth:
I'm sorry! I'll try to steer some of it northward, k? :flower3:
For me, :sad2:
:hug: for the puppy :(
We've got about a foot now. It's taking two shovelfuls to get through it! I'm headed back out now. DH got to work in about 20 minutes, but he was driving the fire dept. Durango, so he had 4 wheel drive and lights & sirens! I'm not going anywhere today!
Oh my gosh - I'm so sorry! :hug:
Thanks
Since you had passes is the $63 what they got for their birthday instead of admission?
Yes - the kids chose the gift card. When they gave us the card, they didn't tell us anything about rules and I read here that the card has to be spent on the actual birthday - it would expire. I asked the giftshop if it was true and she said no. I didn't trust she knew what she was talking about, so I stopped at Guest Services and they told me yes - you have to spend it that day. So dd bought something at AK and she and ds spent the rest at DTD.
When we got back to our room, they left a birthday folder with an autographed photo of Mickey. The kids were so excited because they said that Mickey came to our room while we were gone.
Yay!!!! Was this a planned trip or a spur of the moment thing? Sounds like you had a great time! :cool1: :cheer2:
It was kind of last minute. We planned it a couple weeks ago. We are out of DVC points until June, so we figured with the $49 rate we would go. We also bought the CS dining plan and felt it was worth it. We used out CS credits wisely and I never felt like we were eating the same thing over and over again. I would not do the CS dining plan if we were staying a week, though.
Sorry about your dog, but happy birthday to the kids!
Thanks
There were lots of Brazilians and Pittsburgh fans there. Hope it is better for your friend.
I'm glad you had a great trip. I'm sorry about your puppy. :guilty: How are the kids doing?
The kids are fine. When we got the call, we were waiting for the AK bus. DS heard Mr Diz on the phone and started to cry, so we told him that she was just sick and we were trying to get someone to take her to the vet. We didn't want to tell him on his birthday. He said he was afraid she would die and we kind of prepared him by saying how old she is - 90 in human years - and that she has been in pain with arthritis and when I took her to the vet 2 months ago the vet told me she was sick (heartworms). When we were eating yesterday he told me he thought she was dead. We didn't confirm it until we got in the car on the Interstate. He cried a little. Baby Girl just said, "We're never ever ever ever ever ever ever ever going to see Chelsea again."
:hug: Carrie. Sorry to hear about your mom.
Morning Fockers!
Not much planned for us today. I have laundry to do and need to get the kids to clean up their toy room, but maybe not though. It'll just be trashed by Sunday again when we have our Super Bowl party so I just might wait until Sunday to have them clean it up. :upsidedow
Hope everyone has a great day! :goodvibes
Good Morning Fockers! :wave2:
Mary - So sorry to hear about your pooch. :hug: But glad you had a great trip. I wonder if since we'll have park tickets for Evan already, would he be able to get the gift card, or is it only for AP holders? I'd heard at DLR you could either get a gift card or a magical fastpass. :confused3 I may have to call guest services for that one, eh?
Doesn't Dawn need to ice it now? I thought it was heat only after the injury and then ice. :confused3 Where's Killer when we need her?
Hope everyone has a great day! I've got nothing really going on. Just need to get the craft together for tonights Brownie meeting. They're making Valentines for Vets tonight. I'll send them down to the local VA hospital this weekend.
Did anyone see the news about the man who killed his whole family (wife + 5 children) because of financial problems? The family lives just a few cities over from us. It's such a sad, sad situation. :guilty:
I think you can choose the gift card or fast pass. They offered me both of those before they even saw my AP. She did have to scan the AP for it to go through and don't forget to bring his birth certificate with you.
That's terrible!
They say that is a good workout:thumbsup2
Jimmy is done June 19th, but I don't know when he goes back. Teachers are done the 23rd and have to be back September 1st.
Shoot, I should have went out and helped Jim shovel this morning:rolleyes:
Camryn has had this runny nose junk for weeks and the Alavert just isn't cutting it. Today she says her chest hurts, so we're off to the doctor. I hate it when they don't feel good. :sad:
Hi! :wave:
Privleges of the job ::yes::;)
That's cool! Unfortunately the way our birthdays fall we will never be able to take advantage of this. :sad2:
When we got back to our room, they left a birthday folder with an autographed photo of Mickey. The kids were so excited because they said that Mickey came to our room while we were gone.
It's the little things that make the magic:goodvibes
Poor kids :hug: This just about broke my heart!
According to my mom that is what will happen. SInce you already have tickets, he (you:rolleyes: ) will get the choice of a magical fastpass (that is only good for 3 rides or something, not worth it to me) or a giftcard the equivilant of a one day ticket.
It gets to me when people talk about taking a vacation and their parents are keeping the kids.. or even an overnighter... Just Sunday... A lady was saying it had been 3 months since she and her hubby had been on a date. ON the "outside".. I said.. "That's tough... maybe you'll get a break soon"....
But on the inside... I was screaming.. 3 MONTHS.. YOU ARE COMPLAINING ABOUT 3 MONTHS !!!! Let me KNOW WHEN YOU REACH 1, 2 or 3 YEARS. I think the longest was 4 1/2 years... I think I'll hit that one again.
:sad:
I could not believe how crowded WDW was. The guy in front of us told us he goes this same week every year and it has never been busy like this.
