Jim does not like either of those mags...not really sure why. Then again he likes his Sports Illustrated. He also get the History Channel Magazine which he (and I) reaklly like! Did I send you one for Jimmy?:confused: PLEASE don not feel obligated to get anything.
We already get SI and Military History Quarterly which M loves, but I thought I'd order something to send when he's in Kosovo. You didn't, but send me one for Jimmy especially if they have the HC magazine. He'd love that too.

The school????
Mitch's niece's, I guess she's my niece too even if she is the same age as my sister, children. :thumbsup2 Right now all Reid's school does is wrapping paper.

CE- :hug::hug: So sorry.

Hi everyone else!

Just a quick hello from me, we are taking apart the closets today. Like taking everything out and reorganizing them, esp KC's closet because he needs a new shelf thing in his and we got a new over the door shoe holder for him. We also are going to pick a restaurant for our Anniv so I can write those invites out. Plus there is laundry.

Tomorrow is date day tho, so I ma excited for that.

Sleep is still weird, i woke at 4am after sleeping for 3 hours, read an entire book (Undead and Unworthy by MaryJanice Davidson) and went to bed again at 7- noon. I feel ok tho so maybe it'll all even out eventually.

Have a good one!

I don't blame you So what did you do?

Oh, I went, and had fun. ;)

I've been Miss fix it again this afternoon, Ellie's light has been broken for a while, well it still worked but not properly so I fitted a new one. I then bought a new iron which was a bargain and works great, yeah I'm excited about an iron.I also did a big supermarket shop and that has all taken all day

Good for you!

CE I'm so so sorry, cancer really is horrid and I know this isn't the right thing to say but after watching my Step-Mum suffering the quicker the better

No, I know. It's just that no one expected or even thought this could EVER be an issue even 3 weeks ago. No one wants her to suffer, but...

:hug: for all of you. :hug:

Thank you. :hug:

:hug: For all of you!

Thank you, too. :hug:

CE, I'm so very sorry. I can't even imagine. :sad1: :hug:

She's only 65. :sad2: Thank you so much. :hug:

Mitch's niece's, I guess she's my niece too even if she is the same age as my sister, children. Right now all Reid's school does is wrapping paper.

We don't do the magazines, either. Works for me for now. ;)

CE- :hug::hug: So sorry.

Thank you.

Well, we went down to the hospital. Except that we went to the wrong hospital. :rolleyes1 :rotfl: (I have to laugh, it's been a carpy, carpy day...) Once we figured out where we were supposed to be, we sat with Deb for a while (they wouldn't let us into the ICU for very long, which was fine.)

We got some lunch for Deb & her sis, then John came in with their DD5. She is home with me now. D picked up their DD8 and is taking her skiing with the boys. She did the ski club with her school last year (Janet, I never answered you about what it is - I'll do that below...) and so she should be fine. Then, when D returns with the 3 big kids, we'll transfer the boys out and DD5 into the car, and he'll run them home.

Luckily, they did sit in the hospital last Friday with a social worker, and all her DNR, medical power of attorney, etc. are set, and Deb & her sis are absolutely sure what their mom wants. I just can't even begin to imagine - even knowing that's what she wants - making that call. :sad2: She wants no life support if there's no reasonable expectation of recovery with a good quality of life. Since they think they can't treat her, even if her breathing were to become better, her quality of life would not improve and so...

They've called their stepsiblings and a few old friends, who may be coming in, so they won't do anything in the next day or two. Meantime, since she's on a ventilator, she can't talk. However, they are feeling that she's a little aware, which makes the decision even harder. :sad1:

I just can't even imagine being in their shoes right now.

I'm just sad and sick for them.

But, I get to watch movies with my favorite kindergartener, so that's fun. ;)

Janet, ski club is a lesson program run through the school/PATT. They drive up on a touring type bus (not a school bus) as a group, get an hour's lesson, eat, and then can "free ski," once a week. It's cheapish for lessons and a lift ticket, and this week, D's skiing free as a chaperone, too. :thumbsup2 It's only 5 weeks, but I've always before heard of it being on Friday nights - they don't get home until around 9:00, which I find late for a school night. :confused3 But, we figured for 5 weeks, we could handle it.

The problem is that they need snacks and dinner (again, they could buy dinner up there, but...) and then all the gear, etc. Second graders aren't normally allowed in the program, but they were having a hard time making numbers this year, so they let them in. But, supposedly, a parent HAS to go with them. Our neighbor runs it, though, and she knows the boys and says we don't have to ride the bus, so D has driven both weeks. I think I might ride the bus next week when I have to go, but we'll see. Apparently they don't get much free ski time if they come home on the bus (they can stay later with a parent) and so it depends. I don't have to ski if I go, but I might want to - we'll see how the week goes. I will say that since one of us HAS to go, we can bring the gear with, rather than schlepping it to school for them to deal with. ;)

I have offered our services as taxi drivers or hoteliers for any family coming in to see the mom (though her house is empty, sadly, so they probably don't need it), so my weekend is a little iffier now. There's nothing going on that can't be skipped or worked around, and I feel like I need to be free to do whatever for them... Depending on how long this goes on, we might still be dealing with stuff into next week, too. :confused3

I'm sorry, I know this is a downer, but I needed people to vent to, and I know you guys don't mind too much. You're the best. :grouphug:

Oh, CE.. :hug: I can't believe that it's progressed this quickly. You all must be in such a fog.:guilty:

Right after Christmas, we received a phone call that Andy's brother's niece passed from cancer she was only diagnosed 2 weeks prior too. Poor girl was only mid-twenties and recently engaged.

***********************************************************

I've been completely out of the loop. Our computer started having Virus protection issues, so we took it into the Geek's to have it fixed. Took them a little over a day and now I've got it home, I'm now having Spyware issues.:confused3 I think I'll just go buy a separate Spyware software that is compatible with Windows 7. Ugh. :sad2:

Now to catch up. :surfweb:

+++++++++++++++++++++++

Home from work:yay: Jim and Jimmy stopped at the Acme to have the Derby car weighed at the Deli:laughing: They were slightly over the 5oz. limit, so they have to remove some weight.

We did Chinese food foor dinner (not take out;)) and now jim is reading and Jimmy is watching Transformers.

Hopefully it will be an early night, I am tired.

Hope everyone is having a good evening:goodvibes

Oh, CE.. :hug: I can't believe that it's progressed this quickly. You all must be in such a fog.:guilty:

I mean, truly, at Christmas, we figured at worst there would be some chemo/radiation for the lungs - which of course still would have stunk, but with a fight and good treatment... No clue about the ovaries, no idea that less than a month later it's basically over. I know her, too, and I'm sad, but can't imagine my poor friend's feelings. :sad2:

Right after Christmas, we received a phone call that Andy's brother's niece passed from cancer she was only diagnosed 2 weeks prior too. Poor girl was only mid-twenties and recently engaged.

Oh, that's awful :hug: That seems even worse somehow, because that's way too young.

I think I'll just go buy a separate Spyware software that is compatible with Windows 7. Ugh. :sad2:

Good luck. I love my free anti-virus, but no idea if it would work with 7. :confused:

CE so sorry!!!:hug::hug::hug:

Thank you, Rosie. :hug:

That's why we are here:hug:

I know, but I hate to be totally depressing. Heck, I hate to be depressed. ;)

Oh, man. The DD5 had fun for a few hours, but then I could tell she was just wanting her mom. She's used to not being home all the time - because Deb's a pilot, and all - but I'm sure she senses something's really wrong. She wouldn't eat and got pretty quiet. Of course, it was also totally late. D said he had a hard time getting the other 3 off the ski runs, so he didn't get here until just after 9:30 and so we then had to swap DD5 for my kids, make sure her stuff was in the car and our stuff was out of their big ski bag (which D appropriated for the trip, with an extra kid's stuff to haul), etc. He's not back yet from taking them home. And yes, everyone has school tomorrow. :rolleyes: He was tripping all over himself apologizing, but there's not much to be done now. :rotfl:

I'm just wiped. It's only 10:00, but it's been a heck of a day.

Oh, for a bit of brighter stuff: My dad had his first post-treatment check today, and his white cells still aren't quite normal, but they're within tenths of being so, and the amount of proteins in his blood (which was the first indication of trouble) have dropped tremendously even since October. :thumbsup2 Three months before he gets seen again. :thumbsup2

Doesn't it suck that I feel guilty about getting good parental news, though? :sad1:

Hope you have all had a great night. :) I love you guys. :grouphug:

Huh. Guess I'm a moderator now. :rotfl2: I filled in a form, thinking they'd tell me more about it - and I've not gotten any confirmation, information, anything - but I've got the tag.

Don't be scared - trip reports only. ;)

CE, :hug: I know what you mean about being depressing, but we're here for you. Although if I vented all that went on at Christmas, I wouldn't want to hear from me. ;) But let me say one little thing. I'm turning 40 in April :eek:, and my mother was saying they will be back in March and want to stay to celebrate my birthday. I told her I don't want to do anything for my birthday. Yes, I know I'm being a slug since M will be gone, but we can celebrate next year. She tells me she gave birth to me and therefore she has a right to celebrate, and not in so many words, never mind what I want to do. :scared1: I love how my birthday is all about her. :rolleyes:

Congrats you Mod you! :goodvibes What special things do you get?

I'm doing my Give a Day, Get a Day this morning and of course I woke at 3.00 and couldn't get back to sleep. :rolleyes: Napping sounds good this afternoon, but I have to go to the grocery first as I'm out of cat food. Guess I'll pick up some wine for me too. :)

:rotfl2: I just saw that. Congrats, I think. ;)

Can you please move my August tr to the dungeon? It's done. ;)

I would if I had any idea how. :rotfl2: Seriously, Marisa said she nominated me, I filled out the form thinking that they'd tell me more about it and I'd decide if I wanted to do it, and then suddenly late last night, I have the tags, but no info, no instructions, nothing! :lmao:

Hey I thought you were emailing me :rotfl2:

I meant to about it being Marisa who put my name in, but it got crazy yesterday :guilty:, and truly it was about 4:00 in the morning your time when I saw the tags - but had no other info. ;)

David is just doing some work on the computer and then we're off to the cinema, we're going to see the new Meryl Streep film which is meant to be funny :thumbsup2

Sounds fun! :goodvibes

************************************************
Well, when D got back from taking the girls home, I asked if he knew what the oncologist had told Deb. She had asked for a consult, even with the surgeon and pulmonary guy saying it was too far gone, just to feel like they wouldn't regret NOT asking...

Apparently the oncologist was a little more enthusiastic - until he really saw the chart and heart rate. Her mom's been going tachycardic (super fast heart rate) and said, "Oh, wait, that's a problem."

Gee, thanks. :headache: So, they probably felt briefly a little hopeful, then... But I haven't talked to Deb since we left the hospital yesterday with the DD5.

Anyway, I guess most of the people flying in said that they were renting cars, anyway, so I guess D & I will go on with our normal routine today until or unless we get a call that they need something. I'm sure I'll check in with her, but probably there's nothing much to actually DO. :confused:

So, we'll go to our running tennis class. D will stay for the "fun" class he's more or less signed up for. The pro said he'd text me if he needed me for that one, but I'm kind of hoping not. :rotfl2:

The boys have basketball practice tomorrow, as there's an uneven number of teams in their league, so someone has a "bye" week every week, and it's us this time. It's at 2:00, which is a kind of awful time - can't do much else before or after. Though, really, I guess it's better than 12:30, which has been our norm, as we could do something in the morning - but I bet we won't. ;)

Woody has a birthday party on Sunday at noon - for which I need to shop - and then we'll likely try to ski on Monday, unless we are needed around here. D flies on Tuesday, but it will be nice to have the long weekend. :thumbsup2

:grouphug:

Well my Day Offtarted with a phoine call at 6:30 am:eek:Staffing issue Got that taken care of but of course am wide awake !!!:rotfl2: Then I realised I didn't finish the allowances for the consumers sooooo in order to avoid a mutiny ( like on the bountiny:rotfl2:) I had better go in at some point and do that!!!:scared1:

My TA left me a message my papers are in!!!!:banana:In 20 days I will be on the plane to Orlando !!! Look out Disney Rosie is coming !!!!!:rotfl2:

I have been following a PTR by pipersmom!!! Piper is a young girl with SERIOUS medicalissues and has received a "WISH" trip !! If anyone wants to read a TR filled with LOVE and devotion head on over !!!

What are you doing for it? And :hug::hug::hug: I HATE my Bday and spend it alone every year, by choice. No one gets it... and I don't care, lol!

Apparently the oncologist was a little more enthusiastic - until he really saw the chart and heart rate. Her mom's been going tachycardic (super fast heart rate) and said, "Oh, wait, that's a problem."

Um... that doesn't sound at all like a day "off" Rosie! :eek: :hug:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
TGIF, TGIF, TGIF!!! :woohoo: Not like I've got big plans this weekend; I'm just OVER this week. :headache:
So, my latest school drama... Wed. Leo comes home with a Mid-Term Report from his teacher. It says he's got nothing less than Satisfactory in any subject (they use Excellent, Very Good, Satisfactory, Not Satisfactory, Unacceptable as grades), and an E in writing and V in math, specifically. At the same time, it says he's "below expectations" in writing and math and is "in danger of being retained in grade 2."
WHAT?!?! :scared1:
I dashed off a note asking how that can be, and how to get him help if he's so far behind. I also read Leo the riot act about working hard in school, since I see first-hand each night that he's capable of the work, and punished him by taking away his new DS and Lego set, and no TV until his performance improves. He sobbed in his room for half an hour.
I got a response from the teacher yesterday... she made a mistake. A MISTAKE. He's not falling behind, he's improved greatly, and he's in no danger of being held back.
O. M. G. That's a heckuva mistake lady. I apologized profusely to poor Leo, gave back his things and tried to explain how his teacher made a mistake and that, though school performance is still very important, I'll always check things out thoroughly before punishing for bad grades in the future... all while trying not to make his teacher sound like an idiot.
I really, really need school to get better for him; the poor kid has had a horrible introduction so far. :guilty:
Anyway, this weekend we need to bring Leo's old play kitchen and Mac stroller to the consignment store. Beyond that, we're just going to r e l a x.
Ok.....now I don't know what to say....or how to say it....what if CE doesn't agree with what I say??.........she has the power to <<gasp>> STOP threads....I think......so I think in all fairness, we should all suck up to her.....can I say suck??.....take that back!........anyway, she's had a crappy week anyway......so..... ...., with my superpowers, I would like to proclaim this day as:::
.....drum rolls in the distance.............................
International CE Day
Let the sucking up....I mean "celebrations" begin!!! :lmao:;)
