Team Focker Watch: Lucky Number 13!

Really?!?? Maybe I am not going to rush into at this point then. We were thinking we would take the plunge when we go back, but I think maybe I will wait now
It's a hard call Janet. Resale prices are so good now, that I can't advise against DVC if it fits your vacation needs in every other way. And there's no guarantee places like Reunion will keep renting that low. But man, that place was un-freaking-believable... gorgeous, HUGE, has its own water park... But I'm also perfectly fine with being off-site. That can be a major deal-breaker for others.

She tells me Jimmy has pink eye. Um, no he doesn't. There is no that he contracted pink eye in the 30 minutes since I have seen him. It's his allergies. I had to run home, get his eye drops, take them to school and then come back to work. Can I have a vacation now?????
Grrrr, BT/DT. :sad2:

Okay, get me away from the DIS - gotta go write! :rotfl:

Chernabog?? Where'd that come from??

I don't know; must have been "in a mood" that day?

What did you decide about your cruise? Kids or no??

We are taking the kids and my mom for the Disney cruise. We are planning a Carnival cruise in Oct that we can't decide if we want to go with or without children. DH says we need to take a practice cruise before we take the children on a cruise so we (he) will know what to expect. While I would love yet another cruise on June or July, I just don't see our checking account agreeing with such.

Note: there are lots of back stories and details that I am leaving out regarding my decisions. Basically, my mom will be 70 in July and I don't want to wait til next April for a cruise with her. We have been trying to get her to vacation with us for the past 4 years and she just won't go. Her oldest brother passed away last Aug and her younger sister was removed from life support last Thursday (still waiting for her to pass, any hour now). I just feel like time is running out.

Hey Mo? You're so not alone. Ask T or LL - I think I complained about the loss of free valet for 3 months straight, lol! I decided to gice it a fair shot this summer, and if it's not living up to expectations, and the market improves, I may sell. Know what pushed me over the edge? Staying at a GORGEOUS, 3 bdrm./3 bath condo in Reunion with LL. Those are renting by owner as low as $120/ night!

Yeah, as a BWV owner I'm still pretty peeved about the valet parking.

The more I look at Swan and Dolphin the more I like, I can't wait to stay there. I don't know why I have never tried them before:confused3

Thing with me is too, where I work now I get dirt cheap Marriot rates. For my first 2 nights in Sept. I am staying at one of their vacation timeshare properties near Seaworld for 43.75/ night in a studio. Can't beat that and for Tampa I'm at a Town Place suites for 44./ night in a studio. Not bad huh? Three nights total for about $150.00 with tax, same amenities as a DVC studio.

BTW, don't forget, I will be in Tampa 9/10-11.

No way?! Pleaspleasepleaseplease write a TR for this one?! :yay:

I will try to do one, it's a little less crazy at work now that tax season is over.

This is why I had no problem using 3 years of points for the cruise. For some odd reason, the cruise points for 2011 are less than 2010. Weird?

HMMM....

And this is what drives me crazy with the points constantly being reallocated:headache:

I have to agree, I'm not ready to give up, DVC does has its advantages. I love the kitchenette and of course the location of the Epcot resort area.

Though I don't think I am opposed to off site either, I always rent a car anyway.

But next year with Murph one trip and my niece the other, I love having a 1 brdm and would want to be on site with them.

TE - sorry I thought I quoted you.

I leave May 20th for 10 days. 3 nights Rome, 3 nights Florence and 3 nights Venice. Side trips include Pompeii, Assisi, Pisa and Bologna.

I think I am the only person in the world who has absolutely zero interest in going to Paris:confused3

+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sorry I just had to get that off my chest. It just never ends. THe nurse at school called this morning and of course scared me to death when the phone rang. She tells me Jimmy has pink eye. Um, no he doesn't. There is no that he contracted pink eye in the 30 minutes since I have seen him. It's his allergies. I had to run home, get his eye drops, take them to school and then come back to work. Janet I have less than zero interest in Paris. Of course my Jim will never step foot in France. He won't even go near France in WS at EPCOT. :lmao: He has political reasons due to his job. :rolleyes1

I love when the school nurses decide that they can diagnose everything. My DD had a non-contagious rash once, she had an allergic reaction to something, and the school nurse kept trying to send her home. I had a dr's note and all. Insisted she was contagious.

Thanks V !!
All this dissatifaction with DVC makes me glad I don,t have it !!!!!:worship::banana:

I'm sort of glad I won't let my husband even look at DVC. I like trying the other hotels and I really don't want anything that even remotely resembles a kitchen on vacation. :lmao::lmao:

++++++++++

Afternoon all. It is a wet dreary day here. I thought I would have an easy week but of course I have a final, T-ball meeting tonight which means a practice this week. My grandson had a game rescheduled so I have to be at that. I need to go pick up some last minute things for my trip, they are predicting hot and sunny so of course I need sunscreen. I had a skin cancer scare 2 years ago so I try to be a little careful. I can at least start packing as I have most of my essentials. I don't know why I am having such a hard time getting motivated for this trip.

Well back to studying if the kids will stop fighting. :lmao:

Have a good afternoon.

HMMM....

And this is what drives me crazy with the points constantly being reallocated:headache:

Before deciding to take my mom, it was going to take 374 points for five of us in an ocean view cabin, 4 day cruise, brand new ship. I asked myself why in the world we had not done this sooner??? But then I looked at the 2010 point chart and said, oh, dat why.

So, we are now booked in two connecting oceanview cabins with the great big window, 4 night cruise. It took 457 points plus the $95 outside DVC fee and $400 for one child since I didn't have enough points. If I rent points from someone, I can get a refund, but would have to pay another $95 for making a change. I'm not too concerned as the cash price for a child is cheaper than the point price, but is the opposite for adults. If you take the $7 per point cost plus oop, we are spending $3694 which is actually less if we paid for this cruise oop. In the past, people on the DVC boards said that spending points on a cruise was a waste, but looks like we are coming out ahead. :goodvibes

This is our "practice" cruise too! Plus our 1st time in 20 years to vacation sans kids! My mom wants to go on one if I like this one. She's looking at 3-4 day ones outta south FL or Tampa or else longer ones outta Charleston if we can get my aunt to go too! Then we wouldn't have to fly which would be cheaper...but the cruises are higher. :confused3 She's having to use up all her vacay time for this surgery which will push stuff out too.

So when is the Disney cruise? What ship?

Honestly, don't worry about it ahead of time; they're everywhere. Ask when you get to your hotel and I'm certain they'll have a few favorites they'll point out, but food is truly everywhere you turn!

Left Bank, 6th arrondisement. We stayed in the 5th, in the Latin Quarter.

I actually don't remember, but I just got this one for WDW and LOVE it!:

Piazza Day Bag on ebags.com :thumbsup2

That's so neat! :goodvibes

I'm ordinarily with Daran on that, but I loooved that movie, too!

Ok...done! I've ordered the day bag. Weird thing...I was shopping last nite and put this one in my cart but didn't order it. Good to know you liked it. Daran is still ticked at me for leaving my bagallini day bag in the airport shuttle last year. :upsidedow He actually liked it cause it wasn't girly for him to carry and it went crossways on his shoulders.

Yeah, as a BWV owner I'm still pretty peeved about the valet parking.

We like Marriott too---even more so since that's all his company lets him book now so we get more points. Still can't believe the deal we got at the Marriott in Disneyland. 2 bedroom townhouse, fully loaded! for 161 euro a nite....still no euro symbol! And the other nite, we were able to use points. They are now up to 300 euro a nite so I'm glad I booked early. There is a French supermarket near there so planning to buy some things to prepare which should help some too. Plus a washer and dryer which will be needed by then! :thumbsup2

I did find out that the conversion rate I was using of 1.2 euro per dollar is not right....which sucks cause now everything costs more than I budgeted.

Janet--my MIL is still puzzled about us going to Paris....she said "what is there besides the Eiffel tower??" She says money is better spent at Disney or Vegas! ;) She was interested in DLP though! We are playing that by ear...since we'll be there the last 2 days, we'll probably go and see it. Ab doesn't want too but BA does so we'll see....

I really don't want anything that even remotely resembles a kitchen on vacation. :lmao::lmao:

me either, except that full size fridge comes in handy for keeping the cases of beer cold! ;)

I really tried to follow this...but kinda lost it!

We paid $1702 for the 2 of us...8B balcony room...6 nites..tips included....and luckily already paid for! :thumbsup2 We are doing shore excursions on our own which is cheaper and recommended on the cruise site---just hope we catch the boat back!

TE,

We are going on the Dream 4/10/11

Did you know that RCCL has a cruise out of Norfolk? There is a 9 night cruise next month from $599, and $699 in June.

Wow--that's a good rate particularly for 9 nites! We were looking at Charleston cause my aunt lives near there and we could stay the nite too!

sigh---I need to go get groceries...and I still have my workout clothes on for that "walk" I haven't taken yet.

haha, I lose myself sometimes.

You guys are making me jealous with all this cruise talk and going to France etc !!! Of course I have been to all these European countries;) For now I'll be happy with my June trip to Lake George with8 consumers :eek:But hey it's a free vacation!!! Next free one I hope is Disney this Fall!!

Did they win the tickets? Sounds like fun. Raining here too:sad2:
No I did :rotfl2: They loved it :thumbsup2

Mel telling about SD picking out college reminded me that I didn't tell you about my nephew (my godson). He got accepted to Neumann College (small catholic College not far from my house) and he won a $9,000 per year scholarship:banana: I had to laugh though, we were chatting on FB and he asked me if that was good. I told him he should ask his dad's wallet how good it is:lmao:
Cool, is it A that we met???

Jo: sorry to hear it's chucking down. Lol. Here too, but I don't mind. I'm not playing golf.
Only lightening otherwise it's tough and you just have to get wet :rotfl2: I hope NB is OK and makes the right decision re the job

From what I understand the Forum is within walking distance of my hotel.
I went as a child but from what I remember Rome is tiny so most things are within walking distance :thumbsup2

My little kitty Boots had his 1 year old birthday yesterday----
Awww happy birthday Boots! And France and Germany but no England :sad1: I get the hint  :rotfl2:

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Sorry I just had to get that off my chest. It just never ends. Stupid nurse, blimey she should see my eyes they're crusted shut every morning and red most of the day, yep nice huh :rotfl2:

Her oldest brother passed away last Aug and her younger sister was removed from life support last Thursday (still waiting for her to pass, any hour now). I just feel like time is running out.
I'm sorry

Of course I have been to all these European countries;)
Me too :snooty: :rotfl:

Wow what happened here??? You all got chatty!!!!

The girls loved the show yesterday, they got goody bags with pens, pencils, posters etc and were filmed shouting stuff at the camera although they all hid at the back :rotfl2: They also saw a bit of the marathon which was cool!

I won my golf match and we didn't get wet either and today we went for a long walk followed by 9 holes of golf. Tomorrow I'm playing again, this time at another club representing my club so fingers crossed!

Hey Everyone!

I have been crazy busy with work, house cleaning and Enchanted. Sorry I haven't been able to update. I will try to get on here tomorrow. I hope all is well!

Big Hugs to ya'!

I typed up a big chatty update, then lost my network connection and it's gone. :headache:

Suffice it to say that whilst my MIL is now gone, the kids are off school, so I may still be MIA. The kids are off all week for the April break. Today is D's birthday and tomorrow is the kids'. D's had a nice birthday so far, and we have the kids' party tomorrow. :goodvibes D was supposed to be off through Thursday, but he got a call today that he is needed, but that also screws up next week's trips, which means that I can't play the first of the "Spring League" tennis matches for which I was scheduled. :headache:

I skimmed the last few pages; as Jo says, you have gone all chatty! :thumbsup2

Sounds like the week's off to a not bad start... Keep it up! :grouphug:

We have baseball practice tonight - though it's supposed to start raining any minute - but I think I'm going to run some errands (like getting dinner for D & me) whilst they're at practice. D & I had to go out this afternoon and finish shopping for the boys, since I got nothing done last week between Woody being home and MIL being here.

Gotta go! Baseball! Miss you guys.

Buffy from DVC.com just emailed me to let me know my log on is fixed.

Yes Buffy.

Anyone else thinking this is Cinnamon's roommate.

No wonder DVC is so screwed up they got a bunch of strippers working there;)

Good morning. I may head to Epcot today although right now I don't feel like leaving the house. Probably the reason I actually should go. ;)

Cool, is it A that we met???

No, this is my nephew Brian:thumbsup2

Only lightening

Yeah, I'm guessing that you don't want to be standing in the middle of a golf course with a lightning rod in your hand:lmao:

Stupid nurse, blimey she should see my eyes they're crusted shut every morning and red most of the day, yep nice huh

She's nuts:rolleyes1

Hi Angela:hug:

++++++++++++++++++++

Morning. I don't want to jinx it, but it's been a great morning here.:thumbsup2 Jimmy got up, got ready, had breakfast, and left for school all without an argument. I got into work early, like I wanted to and the weather is clearing up so it looks like Jim's game won't be cancelled today.

Hope you all have a good day:goodvibes

Maybe, but

:faint: Slow down...I'm tired just reading all that!

It's just too bad that when all the spring stuff kicks into gear, so too is suddenly D's work getting ridiculously busy.
:sad2:

WHat did you get them?

Buzz had to have a new bike. We got them their original bikes when they were 4 and we bought a bigger one at that time for Buzz as he's taller. We had to replace Woody's about a year and a half ago, since it was one of those tiny ones, but Buzz's, being a tad bigger, lasted longer.

Woody is harder - he doesn't have any "big" wants. We got him a new skateboard and had kept back an Airhogs r/c airplane at Christmas, realizing we had too much then.

We also got them some books at the Book Fair ;) and we found some clip-on book lights because they like to read in the car, but the backseat lights in the new car are REALLY bright and we can't always have them on. This should help. :thumbsup2

D's mom got them some of the really big Star Wars Lego sets, but gave them to them Saturday whilst she was here. D's dad sent small Star Wars Lego sets and Bolt. My mom's box isn't here, but it will be medium sized Star Wars Lego sets and clothes. Are you sensing a theme here? :rolleyes1 :rotfl: Plus, they bought each other Lego sets as presents. Woody got 2 more small Star Wars sets, Buzz got a SpongeBob set. :lmao:

As I know you're all aware, though, it's getting to that awkward stage where toys aren't quite the thing - it's mostly the electronics or games for Wii or whatever, and they are right now very into Legos, so... I'd rather have tons of Legos than more plastic figures that never get played with. ::yes::

Anyway, we need to shower and stuff. The movie time at 12:00 seemed better for a food party than the one at 4:30 (to eat at 3:30) but it does mean that we have to be getting moving. Hope you all have a great day! :grouphug:
