A cream tea, Devonshire tea or Cornish cream tea[1] is tea taken with a combination of scones, clotted cream (or in some instances whipped cream), and jam.

Cream teas are offered for sale in tea rooms throughout Great Britain (especially the South West of England) and rest of the Commonwealth, or wherever someone wants to give an impression of British influence.

I just had to google it......

Awwww so when you read my posts do you read them with a British accent?
:thumbsup2Yes.... Doesn't everyone?

It's pouring here today, maybe I'll see Dawn float past soon ;) :rotfl:
You might... We've had about 13-15 inches of rain since yesterday morning. :scared1: And it's still raining! My yard doesn't have any standing water in it, but it must have over night since you can see a line on the fence and my mulch has wash down the driveway. Lots of roads are closed and houses that were close to the creek were flooded. :guilty: School was delayed two hours which was great for sleeping purposes, but feels really weird that the kids have only been gone a few hours and will be home soon.

Yummy!!! :cloud9: Now I want to go to tea when we're at Disney. Oh, Me-el... Time to adjust that schedule again! Hope you didn't laminate! :rotfl:

I took that nap, ala CE, but Kirt called and woke me up asking for some serial number off a thing in the garage. I was sleeping big time and was stumbling down the stairs in a haze. Now my head hurts. Probably wasn't worth it... :headache: :sad2:
I heard a bird singing and thought it must have stopped rainging, but Kirt said, "No, it's still raining. He was probably crying." :lmao:

Oh well. At least I don't have to get out in it tonight. :woohoo:

Hello!

All I can say right now is ARGH. :headache::headache::headache:

I had a long explanation typed out, but frankly it's boring if you aren't in it. Suffice it to say that due to lack of beginner interest and the way our tennis teams have to be formed with certain number of "at level" players, they've more or less canceled MY at level league for this fall, waiting until the mid-year ratings come in December. At that point, now, I've been told to expect to move up, as the fact that I went to Districts hasn't yet been figured into my rating.

That leaves me with no at level team for fall, and an "up level" team that, while the captain was nice and asked me to be on it, has so many players now (they thought they'd have two of that level teams, but there's not quite enough for that) that I might not be playing hardly at all for her, either - even come December when/if I get moved up, because that team stays the same.

Sigh.

****************************************************
Aside from that, it's been a lovely day. I took the dog to the kennel to get a bath, and he smells SO much better. :rotfl: (He was truly stinking up the house, the car, everything. Yuck.) My tennis class was fun, and the boys had a smaller load of work for school, so they are ready to play.

Woohoo!

Hope you've all been having a good day - T, way to go on doing yoga and C25K! :goodvibes I counted the tennis as my exercise today - especially as (oddly, kind of) my whole waist/rib cage muscles are what's sore from yesterday's run... :rotfl2:

Dawn, hope you're not gurgling! :upsidedow Mel, hope you got your nap. ;)

Hi, TE!

Kristel, thanks for the update, hope work doesn't bore you to death. :goodvibes

Jo, sounds like you're not playing enough golf. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2: Congrats on the new win!

Hi, V! Hi, Mo! :wave2:

Morning!

Everyone sounds happy, healthy and BUSY! So glad all the kiddos got off to school and are doing well. That's such an important thing. My boys are older now (12th grade/7th grade) but when they were small, the teacher they got determined their overall attitude EVERY DAY! They are spending 8+ hours with those people per day. :thumbsup2

We have FINALLY found a car (and figured out financing) for SD. I just don't want to share mine. Well, that's not really true. I don't mind sharing, but when he wants the car, I am usually planning on needing it and it's such a pain. The insurance for his car is TRIPLE what mine is per month and I drive a brand new, LEASED car. Ugh. No way out of the deal cheaply.
However, he's a good kid. He gets good grades (usually), helps out a home without any grief, and plays tennis. I don't mind rewarding that.

This weekend we might go to the Ren Faire near here. We used to go every year, but as the boys got older the jousting etc. lost it's fascinating appeal, I guess. LOL I just hate going when it's a million degrees and the bees are swarming. The weather looks like it will be cool though, so we might brave it.

Other than all that, there isn't much going on here. My mom went home (Yay), SD has a game today that I'll be going to and I'm cleaning the house tomorrow. Blah. Borinnnnnggggggg.

Take care everyone!
Mel:banana:

Morning! I'm having a hard time staying on track with replies - I'm sorry! :flower3:

Thanks for the well wishes; I started in on school reading last night and it was actually kinda nice. I'd forgotten that I'm mostly down to the classes on topics I actually enjoy, lol!

Our SW trip plans just keep evolving (I need to email you T)... we're back to June, as soon as Leo gets out of school. I kept reading that crowds at the Nat'l. Parks in July are the worst and we aren't crowd people. Plus, we've decided to focus more on Utah and it's freaking hot up there. A 10* difference between June and July could be a big deal! It looks like this (for now):

Fly into Vegas and drive to Grand Canyon (maybe a night in Williams first, depending on when I book flights).
3 nights Grand Canyon
Drive to Monument Valley - 1 night.
Drive to Arches - 1 night.
Drive to Bryce Canyon - 2 nights.
Drive to Vegas 1-2 nights.
Fly home.

About our WDW weekend - we had the most amazing AK day Sun.! Yes, it was hot but it didn't seem so bad as in early July. Maybe I'm just used to it by now. But we got there at opening and went to the safari first - saw every animal possible, including the newborn elephant who is so cute it makes you cry! Leo was finally tall enough to ride Primeval Hurl; I needed muscle relaxants after. ;) Rode Dinosaur, did the Tiger Trek, saw Flights of Wonder and had lunch at Rainforest Cafe.

We checked into CSR and hit the pool. Leo's now conquered 5 of WDW's resort pool slides. :thumbsup2 I LOVE the new CSR rooms! So much nicer in person than in pics.

Leo conned me into the MK that night... it was PACKED and rainy. Blah. We managed dinner at CHH, HM, POTC and BTMRR before calling it a night.

Mon., we got to MK at opening... despite Leo jamming his car door into the truck next to us. Oh SNAP! :headache: He dinged it pretty good. I apologized profusely to the owner and went to get pen and paper, but he left for the tram. I left a note on his windshield with my number, but we haven't heard form him, so I'm hoping he'll just let it go.

Poor Leo couldn't let it go, though; he worried about it all day. :guilty: We did do all our favorite rides, except Splash which for some reason he didn't want. :confused3 Had lunch at Pinnochio's, and ended the day with ice cream on Main St. Know that little brick alley off the left if you're facing the train station? If you park on a bench over there, eventually you'll hear the music and dance lessons coming from the windows above that say "Music and Dance Lessons"! Very cool, and new to us.

As an aside, I'm on a very, very low-carb diet right now. Long story, but it's thyroid med related. Anyway, trying to keep low-low-carb and eat cheap at WDW was interesting. I never want to see a salad with grilled chicken again. :rotfl:

In all, it was a nice little getaway. I'm glad we went! :goodvibes

Today was the boys' first full day of school and Gus is already pulling the "tummy ache" can't go to school carp. UGH! :headache:
Ugh. My nephew pulls that with my brother. He's in 8th grade this year. :sad2:

You emailed me 15 schedules. I broke down. It's understandable, I think.
:lmao:
Oh no and great, we have a Legoland here and it's pretty good for the under 10's but then we're not used to WDW standards here :rotfl2:
Really? I thought it was in Germany or something. :confused3

Awwww so when you read my posts do you read them with a British accent?
::yes::

Yesterday I won another prize, I know I'm getting boring sorry.... this time it was a £50/$75 for a butchers at a local garden centre so that'll buy me lots of steaks etc
That's a great prize! :thumbsup2Who doesn't love yummy cow? (look away, V)

Whoa... that's crazy! When do you start teaching?

All I can say right now is ARGH.
Yeah, that'd give me a headache, too!

Hope you've all been having a good day - T, way to go on doing yoga and C25K! :goodvibes I counted the tennis as my exercise today - especially as (oddly, kind of) my whole waist/rib cage muscles are what's sore from yesterday's run...
I hear ya. I can't figure out why my upper arms are sore. :confused3

What kind of car? popcorn::

Yup. The best time is June and the last 2 weeks in August.

Good Morning!

The stress of 1st grade has begun. :headache: Evan's teacher sent a list of words they're going to be tested on this Friday - easy words that Evan had no trouble reading in Kinder, but now can't seem to get it together. He's all freaked out about it and the tears and the "I'll never get it by Friday!" drama ensued. Ugh. I know he'll be fine once it "clicks" again. So much stress and it's only the 1st FULL week of school. Pfft.

I need to head to the mall today - I can't believe I forgot to buy Maddie a jacket for school. She's been wearing a thin short sweater this week, but it's getting colder and she'll need something a bit warmer.

That's about it, here. I'm off to do some yoga and clean up. Catch up with you girls later! :hippie:

Good afternoon everyone.

It's been awhile. A lot happening and not all good. We find out tomorrow if Kyle will need surgery on his arm. There was a huge problem with the insurance and drs last week. They went to the orthos and were told they were maxed out on his insurance and had to go to the original hospital for new x-rays. :confused3 It turned out that the pediatricians office refused to give them the referral to begin with, he didn't need any x-rays or followup until the cast came off. My son took the morning with the inurance co and got it straightened out and then switched peds. These were the same ones who insisted Mikey didn't have any problems and examined the baby and went to give her the shots she needed at her 1 year visit. Only problem - she was 18 months.
I went with my DIL to the ortho and the receptionist took the x-rays, came back and told us to come back in 3 weeks. :confused3 We insisted on a dr. The resident told me I was being unreasonable and when they realized I was close to flipping out the head ortho dr came in. Kyle goes back tomorrow and my DIL was told to keep a 6 y/o who thinks he's Spiderman still. The bone shifted slightly. It should be an interesting visit but fortunately my son is off again tomorrow.

I am busy getting ready for my trip to Disney. I paid it off last week and bought tix to MNSSHP. Made shirts for the party today. Jim and I leave on Oct 21st for 6 days with no kids. :yay::woohoo:

It looks like when I get back from Disney I will be headed for surgery on my knee. I went hiking in the snow, all 30+ inches, on the beach last winter and felt a twinge in my knee. I tore cartilage in my right knee. It has started collapsing out from underneath me so an MRI and then surgery. I have had 4 or 5 on my left knee so I know what to expect. Played to many sports when I was younger, especially tennis and softball, and am now paying the price.

The kids started back to school. My grandson is in 6th grade this year. I can't believe I have a grandson that old. Kyle and Crystal started 1st grade. Mikey goes to pre-school for special needs and my mom is starting her pre-school for the other 2. She will also have Mikey and a little boy from church. She always wanted to be a teacher so this was her calling. She is funny though. She sets her front living room up like a school with desks and posters on the walls like a real school. She gets done in an hour what most schools take a week to do.

Other than that not a whole lot going on. Oh while you all are taking up a collection for Janet's keyboard throw some this way. It takes forever on my DD's computer. Half of the keys refuse to cooperate unless I pound on them. :lmao:

Chat with you all later.

Other than all that, there isn't much going on here. My mom went home (Yay), SD has a game today that I'll be going to and I'm cleaning the house tomorrow. Blah. Borinnnnnggggggg.

Yeah, let's see. I went to the vet today and vacuumed. I'm so much more interesting... :rotfl: (glad your mom went home!)

In all, it was a nice little getaway. I'm glad we went! :goodvibes

Oh, good. And I'm glad you enjoyed your school reading, too! :goodvibes

This happened to Woody in 1st. You're right, it will be fine, but it's not fun until it is.

Good afternoon everyone.

It's been awhile. A lot happening and not all good.

Yikes - so sorry about all that. At least you do have your trip coming up!

*******************************************************
As I said to Mel, the big parts of my day were taking the dog to the vet and then I did a good vacuum, which was overdue. I've got dinner in the crock pot, and that's about it. Oh, wait, I took the trash out! :rotfl:

Going on a walk again with my friend tomorrow, but that's all I've got. D's not back until Sunday, likely, though he was somewhat hopeful they'd finish in time to drive back late Saturday night, but I'm not holding my breath.

We're off to karate once the boys get back, so I'd best do a few more little chores before the bus comes. BBL!

Thanks for the well wishes; I started in on school reading last night and it was actually kinda nice. I'd forgotten that I'm mostly down to the classes on topics I actually enjoy, lol!
Fantastic! Your trip sounds great and it sounds like you had a good WDW trip too :thumbsup2

There is one in Windsor, right next to Windsor Castle :snooty: :rotfl2: It must be about 20 years old!

Good afternoon everyone.
Blimey you have had lots going on. I hope you get all the medical stuff sorted

Oh, wait, I took the trash out! :rotfl:
Poo I forgot to do that, must make sure I'm up early enough tomorrow! :rotfl2:

Today was the golf comp, most clubs have an Open they're pretty expensive (this one was £35) and includes a meal, golf and prizes. Normally there are really good scores and I'm a tight skin flint so never normally play but a friend dropped out and they needed another one so I did! Anyway I played pretty well except the greens were terrible, really fast etc and I thought I'd done rubbish anyway I won :yay: :rotfl2: The prize was these pastry/cake forks (a bit too floral but OK) and £70 of vouchers :thumbsup2
