T,
Are you sure you have to do the entire house? If they are just in the deck area, isn't there a chance that is where they'll stay, or do they mosey like that? We have a bond on the house, and the termite guy comes every 3 months to check for signs of bugs. Maybe you could have someone come out first and look under the house for the extent of the damage. Just a thought...$2500 is never an easy pill to swallow.
That's what we were hoping for, but Waldo and Andy went around the house inspecting and what I thought were mouse droppings on the outside window sills are actually termite shavings, or whatever they're called. We have the guy coming this week to do a "professional" inspection. Wish me luck!
You remembered  So how long will we be the same age for :rolleyes1
Forever. I'm staying 35. :teeth: How about you?

Ooo if you wouldn't mind :goodvibes
Janet enjoy your day off :cool1:

I got bunches of them and will put some in the mail ASAP!

Notice how she didn't write that they were getting ready until nearly 10:00??? She panned, I know it. :lmao: LY/MI

Dropped Jimmy at school at 7:30, came home, put together the new desk chair. Covered the AC's to cut down on the draft, and Dissed. No time for panning:rotfl2:

DO NOT TELL ME IF DISNEY STORE HAS ANY GOOD DEALS! I'm on a financial diet! :sad2: Found out the fumigation is going to cost $2500! :faint: Plus, we have to leave for 2 days - can you say ROAD TRIP! I think we'll head down to San Diego and hit Sea World and the Zoo for a long weekend.

Sorry about the extermination problem:hug: I was all excited whn I got there and there were signs 50% off, even sale prices. Nothing to get too excited about. No really good stuff. The only thing I bought was a POTC shirt for Andrew to wear to the P & P Party. That was an awesome deal $2.49:woohoo:

Uh-oh! Now CE's hitting on David! :lmao:

DOn't worry Jo, long distance relationships never work:laughing:

I hope they come out good for you. We made them last night and they weren't as good but I think I added too much water and boullion. Darn it!

They smell awesome. Will let you know how they taste after dinner:thumbsup2

Oh no Kat hope you win your appeal. So what's wrong with your back? Is it from your wrestling days?

Yea it is. I have a herniated disk thats pushing on my sciatic nerve. Its very painful some days and i have numbness down my leg sometimes too. Sometimes its literally a pain in the a%$!

Oh Kat! FWIW, I know California State Disability always denies a first time submission. They do this to weed out people who just apply for s*its and giggles, KWIM? Don't know how NY State works, but don't lose hope!;)

I have a friend who told me the same thing. I am def going to appeal and do most of the leg work myself instead of waiting for them because that got me no where!

You were :goodvibes Isn't 2/2 your groundhog day or something?

::yes:: Good memory! :goodvibes

Forever. I'm staying 35. :teeth: How about you?

Hmmm. :scratchin I'm 35 until 2/20. Or maybe forever. :rolleyes1

If you say so... :rolleyes1 :rotfl:

OK, doggie owners... My darn dog is 9. We were gone for not even quite 2 hours this afternoon for tennis. I just got home and found he'd: a) been in the trash bin (which is now inside a drawer in my island. I have no idea how he opens it.); and b) Gotten open the lazy susan cabinet and extracted a box of Honey Teddy Grahams, which he then tore apart and consumed most of.

This is happening more and more regularly. :sad2: If I forget and leave something out on the counter, he gets it. If I don't, he gets in the trash. Actively searching out food is new as of today - and yes, even if I leave him food in his dish, he does this and the food's not gone. :confused3

We got him from a shelter when he was about 1, and for the first year or so he ate (well, mostly chewed) all sorts of weird stuff - the blinds, wicker baskets, pants, soda cans - but he's not done that since we have lived in this house - until late this summer.

I'm at my wit's end! We do have a kennel bed - back when we first got him I did put him in it because he was doing all that. Should I get it back out? I don't want to childproof the cabinets because I don't want him scratching them up whilst trying to get in, being new and all.

Thoughts and suggestions are welcome, and thanks for letting me vent. :grouphug:

KAT: You have my sympathy. I had the same thing, only my disk ruptured and compressed the sciatic nerve. Not only did it numb my whole left side of my left leg, but i lost muscle control and reflex in that leg. I had back surgery to repair it in Nov. Two months of physical therapy later and some of the muscle is back but it's still completely numb. Fortunately for me I'm a stay at home mom. I wouldn't wish this on anyone. Hope your request comes through on your second try!! :thumbsup2

In other bad news, I went to the Glaucoma specialist today. I've had surgery in both of my eyes to essentially "make holes" to relieve the pressure because I was going blind. Well, they close up because naturally the bodies impulse is to "repair" you. So, I spent my morning holding VERY STILL and not moving at all so that he could use a tiny scalpel to poke through the hole in my eye again! :scared:
The pressure was up to 21 before, 15 after. But, poor DH felt so bad for me he took me to lunch, brought me home, made my Twinings and tucked me in. I'm just now up to see how you guys are. I feel pretty yuck so I'm ordering pizza for the kiddos.

Don't feel bad for me though. I just watched the Undiscovered Disney program on the Travel Channel that I taped AGES ago. I'm feeling the Disney LOVE.

Forever. I'm staying 35. :teeth: How about you?

Can you remember when you thought 35 was middle aged? There is no way I'm going to be middle aged so 34 it is :rotfl2:

Hmmm. :scratchin I'm 35 until 2/20. Or maybe forever. :rolleyes1

You guys are such youngsters! I am going to feel old in August aren't I:sad2:

Is he getting enough to eat everyday? Maybe check with the vet to see about changing his diet a bit...:confused3 Sorry, that's all I could come up with!

Kat, I hope that you win your appeal. Try not to stress too much about it.

T, termites are no good! Back when we lived in Monterey we rented out our house in Ottawa. We were gone for three years and when we got back we discovered that the tenants had somehow got the house infested with cockroaches! :scared1: We ended up living in a hotel until the house was fumigated and bug free, not fun.

Oh Dawn I hope you feel better soon too  And hope your DD's dancing goes well :goodvibes
Thanks Jo. I'm sure she'll do her best and that's all I ask. I'll probably talk about it more this week on my TR or here. ;)

Feel better soon! :goodvibes
Thanks! :)

How do you do her hair? They told me to wash it the night before, spray it stiff, and roll in sponge rollers. Then they want it in a high pony tail with lots of curls and ribbons.:confused3
Since she does solos, I can do what I want, generally. Thursday (her solo practice day) I curled and did half up, half down, but I couldn't see her face very well. So, I pulled it into a ponytail and the curls fell out in 3 hours. Her teacher wants a bun, but when I do a bun it lookds like puppy poop. So, I went and bought her a fake hair scrunchie to put over the poop pile I make. Much easier!

I agree that youdon't want her hair to be "clean" because it falls out. Generally what I do is wash it the day before, then have her wet it (Like she's washing it) in her shower that morning, but don't wash it. Then I gel it, pull it back with a side part. roll it, and leave the curlers in it until it's time to leave or get in the car.
You're driving there, right? A lot of girls will walk around with their curlers in before competing. Ask the team she's on, though. I don't want her to send me her shrink bills if she's the only one. :upsidedow
When it's time to, unroll the curls, and carefully comb through each one separatly, then fluff and spray it like crazy, even in the front. Add ribbons.. Viola!
The reason I say do it in the morning, if you have time for it to completely dry, is that my girls always had a hard time sleeping on them, the one always fell out and then you have some crazy straight hair. Hopefully you can get her hair dry in the a.m., or you may have to do repairs in the morning as best you can.
We dance Friday afternoon and B has PE that morning. I'm thinking I'll slick it into the ponytail in the a.m., then wrap it around ponytail after class. I sure hope it stays well. Getting it back into the slicked pony, messes up the crunchiness of the do, if you have to re-do it again. :rotfl: Think you got it all? ;)

Hope your feeling better soon.
Thanks!

I would go back to the kennel bed, but I'm no doggie expert. My puppy's only 8 months today. We're doing the opposite and just starting to let the puppy stay inthe house while we leave for a hour or so. So far he lays by the door until we get back. It's so sad. :sad2:

Yikes, MEL! I got some shows watched this weekend too (3 episodes of Cashmere Mafia-anyone else watching it?). Feel better soon!

T- I know how you feel. I started feeling bad Thursday and felt horrible Friday through Sunday. Today I feel less than human, but I don't have a choice to be a wake some since DH is at work. I did get a 3 hour nap this afternoon. :goodvibes

Hope you feel better soon.

Once again, thank goodness I have boys! :rotfl: I can't do my own hair...

Yeah... I'm thinking it's all we can do. He scratches the doors up if we try to close him in our room. He never really minded the kennel - it's just a pain to set it up and have a spot for it.

Ewwww!!! Roaches are the worst! I'd take the termites over roaches any day!

Thanks, today was my worse day, I'm hoping to feel better tomorrow - I have school and work! Blech!

:rotfl2:

I can't even imagine having to go through all of that. If I had girls they'd be dancing with their hair in their eyes!

You may be surprised. When Maddie was little, she went to daycare and it was Andy's job to dress her, etc as I started work earlier than he did. He actually learned how to comb her hair into various styles, pony tails, braids. The daycare provider actually commented on how nice Maddie's hair was, I had to admit Andy was the stylist. :lmao:

Thanks!:goodvibes

I would just go with putting him back in the crate then, at least until you can talk to the vet about it:confused3

That depends.... how old are you? :lmao: I'm kidding, of course! ;)

Thanks all for the well wishes....didn't multi quote. Too hard. :sad2:

CE: If you picture an eye, the iris in the middle (colored part) and then white all around it. Up above the iris, in the white part (sort of under my eyelid unless I open REALLY wide) they make a sort of permenant hole. It's called a "bleb." Weird name. Anyway it works like a tear duct. It releases the fluid from inside the eye. The build up of that fluid (actually like tears) is what causes the high pressure. If you don't release it and your pressure stays up (or goes really high) it compresses the optic nerve and that is what causes the RAPID vision loss associated with Glaucoma.

Call me the Glaucoma Poster Girl.

I know more about it than I ever cared to. But, other than the vision loss I suffered in both eyes before I had surgery to make the blebs, I don't have any vision issues usually. It doesn't interfere with my sight. BUT, right now I want to close my eyes, put a cold washcloth on them and take alot of ADVIL. My eye is sore. But, it should be after what it went through. ;)

Sorry to bore you all if you didn't want the long version. I told it for two reasons, one: CE asked. And two, if your eye pressure is NOT below 20 when you go to have your eyes examined GET A SECOND OPINION!!! I am now wearing glasses that are TTTTTTTHHHHHHHIIIIIIIIISSSSSSSSSS thick and almost went blind. I never want anyone to suffer this disease.

So, be careful Fockers!

I';m about to take my ribs out of the inaugural venture of my crock pot- i'll be back to catch up later!

Mel, I'm sorry. It was the "scraping" you mentioned early that had me saying I'd want to keep my eyes closed. Sounds pretty painful!

Thanks for the info and the advice. I got some very cool glaucoma scan when I hit the optomestrist this fall. :thumbsup2
