So, the work started this morning.
The plumber never showed up

, but nice Cliff the installation guy says he can move the pipe, no problem.
This is consuming my life, so I assume you're all just as interested.

So, some pictures!
Here is when we ourselves had the fake brick off the wall. It was not horrible, except that every 3rd brick or so was fake "mossy" and I felt weird about that in the kitchen. Also, very dated looking. So, here it is, gone. Don't mind the wine and beer bottles - it was a long weekend...
So, then D. was able to remove the microwave and stove, and you can see that I have the cabinets all emptied out (this was yesterday morning.):
First, the guy took all the doors off the cabinets this morning:
Then he removed the drywall where the brick had been because it was so damaged:
That was all before lunch! Quick Cliff!
When I got back from the boys' tennis lession, I found this:
The cabinets are not installed, but they are sitting where they will be, and the wall is repaired! Yay, Cliff!
So, he expects to do the plumbing bit in the morning, and also get the cabinets in. I think our countertop measuring, which was supposed to be Wed., will have to wait. The consensus at the lumber yard is that even if the old and new appliances (range and dishwasher, specifically) are "standard" and should be the same width for the counters, we probably ought to wait until we have the actual new ones in before they template the quartz countertops.
I am MUCH less stressed now that it has started and the big problem doesn't seem like it will be so big!
