The really great memory was later that night after we ran back to the hotel, my cousin and I decide our Moms needed to go to bed. We put each of our Moms to bed and meet back up in the hallway to go to the hotel bar. We are halfway to the elevator when all of a sudden I hear "you who girls" and there is my Mom in her nightgown doing the can can in the hallway.

Coming from a Home schooler.....you guys can get an intent to Home school letter from your school district....fill it out & state only for 20day a year as an example...then turn in a attendance report to the school district for the days you have them out & they have to count them as present with No Penalties....as this is a Federal Law all school districts have to follow (not Private) you can call it a field trip or whatever you want as long as you spend 1&1/2 hrs teaching them something that day......there are no requirements to prove this just to report!!!!

Yup, my children learn time management (or lack there of), map reading, math, and they have mastered the art of negotiation.

There's no way I could even afford a vacation outside of FL in the summer, and the only place I want to be in summer is OUT of FL!

Our low was 58 this morning.

I just looked at next year's school calendar... they have NO BREAKS, other than summer and 2 days for Thanksgiving! No Spring break. No Winter break. Closed 12/24-25 and 12/31-1/1, but that's it. And, his class starts a full 2 weeks earlier than the 1st-4th graders. So I'm not feeling bad at all about pulling him for the planned 8 days now! Still thinking about adding 2...

Holy carp! I wouldn't worry about missing days in K.

I think we are allowed 20 per year.

Hmm...I do gots some cuzes from Marietta--but I don't remember seein no clown at last weeks family reunion, so we must not be kin.

How is it??!! I'll admit, I've not yet read any of the books, only seen the movies. Are you willing to PM me with how it comes out for Harry? (This assumes it's not front page in our Sunday paper, of course.) I promise not to share!

Are ya sure?? I have finished it now! Read all day yesterday and will hand it to AE today. I have avoided any internet sites cause I wanted no spoilers.

Share with me!!! I'm the same... I'd love to read the books, but I'm dying to know what happens in the end!

They are a pretty quick read (despite the size)--I've read each several times. Hard to believe it's been 10 years since they started.......and now it's over. While I like the movies, I already know what's gonna happen, so the new books are much better (and more detailed).

I suspect you still have that British accent but with a touch of Buffalonian added in .

I used to live in Niagara Falls for a whole 5 months back in 1998. We lived right off River Road on the Niagara River, almost near Love Canal!

Without spoiling, how did it compare to the others, the last one had me crying my eyes out.

Darn it is going to be so hard to avoid spoilers as I can't read it until the end of September. ( I am studying for a certification exam for work and with vacations, etc. I can't afford to take leisure time reading, I use the Dis for my study breaks and I even made up flash cards to take on my August vacation)

My 73 yo Mom gets free tix to a Billy Joel concert for last night. This was a concert you could not by tix for, it was for Borgata regulars only.

There was a FREE bar and from what I am hearing Mom was drunk on Apple martini's. Apparently she had a great time and is now a big Billy Joel fan (she didn't even know who he was a couple of weeks ago.

And I am taking her to WDW in February, I can't wait to see her at Biergarten

Hey--I had to wait in line for 2 1/2 hours for that! And I just got a Ravenclaw bracelet!
It was kinda cool though........counting down till midnite and then seeing them bring the big boxes out! I was so worried that someone would flip to the last page and blurt something out!

Yea, I'll go back and read it again next week after AE finishes it---I enjoy reading more slowly the next time. A lot of the internet boards are closed for discussion till 7/24 anyway.

Boy, go to the beach for 2 days and you miss a heck of a lot. I am not going to do a mini trip report, but I will say we had a fabulous time. DH and DS spent yesterday on the beach while I went to a grade school reunion. Then we all went to the boardwalk last night and again today before we drove home. Hey TE you had to wait 2 hours for 1? I was just walking out and they were just there and they asked me if I wanted any for my grandkids( I kinda live at Walmart ) so they gave me 3 for each kid a green a yellow and a blue!! and the week before I got the High School Musical lanyards!!
