I don't have much going on today. I did think we'd go shopping for shoes if it craps out weather wise again. Yesterday was too beautiful to shop - we saw this big bright yellow ball in the sky!!! I've heard it's called the sun.

I slept in too late. The boys must have gotten up very quietly. D got up with the dog, which was nice, but now I feel bad for sleeping so long.

D said that he needed to do some computer work today, but that he didn't necessarily have to go into the office. I do need to go to the grocery store.

So all that is to say that I don't know what exactly I'm doing today.

Rosie~ That is a terrible tragedy! A grim reminder of how dangerous water is. Last summer a boy drowned while my family was swimming. Sadly the witnessed him being pulled from the water and the mother screaming. My ds still talks about it.

We lost a kid around here last week. Chruch group he as 12 and COULD NOT SWIM. Went after a float in water over his head. Why do people go to these lakes and not be able to swim ??
I WILL NOT go in lake water... Still can't believe Scott talked me into going to "River Country" on my first trip to WDW back in 1987
The water is murky and if someone goes under... you will not find them.
Not a fan of Ocean water for swimming either.. but they have that whole SHARK THING going on.

I almost was one of those at age 5. Lots of people splashing.. and a wave or undercurrent carried me out and I still remember trying to walk back to water under my chin on the very tip TOP of my toes... Has another big splash come or another undercurrent...
No one was watching me.. no one knew it happened. I was with an Aunt and 2 MUCH OLDER cousins and they were going off the diving board In a Deeper area. While I was in the "shallow area". I bet the water was not 6 feet at the rope.. maybe not even 5.. I'll never know that. NEVER HAVE gotten over my fear of water. I swim, was a Lifeguard even, trying to conquer my fear.. Thankfully Sara is not afraid.. BUT SHE DOES RESPECT IT. AND she can swim.

Well I,m back from the picnic which was great! But have very sad news.. A 12 year old girl visiting with a group from NY City fell into the river and has not yet been found . When we arrived at the Whirlpool state ark for the picnic TV srews and cops were all over. They only allowed the picnic people into the area. Apparently the girl and some others split from the main group and she got to close and fell in. I have to warn all my Focker Friends the Niagara River is treacherous. The currents just before the Falls and in the lower River leading to the Whirlpool are an Absolute Death sentance . In all probablility her body wont be found or at least not for a long time. This is a trjedy that happens to viitors =mainly every year. We raise our kids with the fear of God about those waters . I feel so bad for the girls friends and family, but I had to warn you guys so if you know of anyone coming here WARN them !!
Jo and all Fockerfesters have a BLAST !!

I would LOVE to see Niagara.. but Scott fears a slip from one of the kids and they are gone. How many tourists do they lose every year ?? I NEVER HEAR ABOUT IT IN THE NEWS.

Well, SD slept all night. He told me this morning that he's feeling good!!! I am SO relieved. Maybe he's not "better" yet, but he's better than yesterday and that is SO good.

Unfortunately, Bob's having some issues. He slept downstairs last night saying that his back hurt. Turns out it's not his back. It's radiating up from "THE SURGERY AREA" and he's in ALOT of pain. He's got a call into the Urologist. I hope he feels better soon. He's not too happy right now.

We totally need a break, here!

While in Florida.. you know.. you will be the "Sheriff" over that bunch of ladies and "Flats" I only had to keep Mel Under Control. And she kept sneaking Liquor In under her shirts and sweaters.
You may have to "pat" that one down..

I did drown in a lake when I was three but I don't remember.They had to resuscitate(sp?) me.My mom is still nervous around my kids and water even though they can all swim.

Thats goos news about SD. Hope BOB gets some answers soon.

Mel- I'm glad your son's better and good luck to Bob. I know rubbing and heat/sweating is a bad thing for a while after surgery. Do you have something like anti-monkey butt for him on the trip?

After dropping b at her last day of dance camp, we had a nice breakfast out. Then I went to a book store and bought Rachel Ray's "Yum-o for Families" cookbook. I am so tired of eating out and I hate to cook. So, I'm hoping this will help me with fast, healthy meals.

We got groceries and now we're in for the afternoon. I wore this cute orange sundress today because C asked me to. Nothing like carrying groceries in from the car with sweaty thighs.

It just reminded me of why I'm not jealous of everyone being in WDW in August. There's no way I'll ever go then. It's too much like Texas- hot a sweaty...
