Wow. I guess I know why the power was out last night. The WIND is incredible!!! And I went to open the family room windows that look out onto my back yard and we have a HUGE tree down across the yard and into the neighbor's! Whoa! Glad it went the other way, it could've landed on the gazeebo!

MEL

Anyway I didn't meen to start venting,just wanted to let you know I miss keeping up with all your lives and hopefully this weekend(between going to my first college football game and two of my kids being baptised) I will get a chance to read about how wonderful Fockerfest was.:surfweb:

Congrats on the baptisms! :angel: Have a great weekend! We'll still be here when you get back!:thumbsup2

Well, I slept like CARP. My tummy's all in knots. I have to go wake up Sd in a second because our power was out last night and I think his alarm will be off. I am wearing out fast with this school issue, thank GOD it's Friday.

I am going to make some herbal tea. Maybe it will chill me out.

You guys chat today so I have something to distract me later!

MEL

Can I just say that I know exactly how you feel, Mel? I'm actually looking forward to the drugs so that I will sleep because my stomach isn't letting me get much sleep.

Wow. I guess I know why the power was out last night. The WIND is incredible!!! And I went to open the family room windows that look out onto my back yard and we have a HUGE tree down across the yard and into the neighbor's! Whoa! Glad it went the other way, it could've landed on the gazeebo!

MEL

Wow! Glad it didn't land on your house, Mel. The wind is bad here too. I just found our patio umbrella on it's side on our deck. Glad it didn't fall and break our glass table out there. Once it stops raining, I'll have to go out and take it down. I think we're getting the remnants of Gustav.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Well, I've got to go to the hospital today for pre-op bloodwork after taking DD4 to preschool. Then, I've got Moms in Touch (prayer group) and I think I'm going to try to eat lunch at school with DD7 (since I won't be able to do that again for a little while).
So, I won't be back until at least noon. Keep the chatter to a minimum, please! :rotfl: :rotfl2: :lmao:
I love it! Wish em luck I'm gonna try using a root touch up kit this weekend in hopes of evening out my hair!
Good luck!
Tomorrow we are running some errands and planning on relaxing out in the neighborhood somewhere, at least to be out of the house because the weather has been beautiful!
Really? We've had the hottest weather in forever up here! ;)
Alrighty, I deserve an award. I just read 30+ pages of Focker talk. That's dedication.
:worship:
CE - OMG, the bike story. :scared1:
I know - can you imagine? :rotfl:
Fockers I have this thing that is now going to get in the way of my ability to keep up with you. It's my WDW vacation!!!! Tommorrow is a big and busy day. I won't be able to visit.
I will miss everybody, especially HSM - oh and TE!!!;) ;)
Keep on wishing hanna and Ike away for me please. I'll talk at you when I get back. Be Good!!
Have SO much fun! :goodvibes
Hi everyone! :goodvibes Its 4:30am and I can't sleep so I thought I would drop in and let you know I am still alive.I wish I had time to do a proper catch up but it has been several weeks since I have been on the dis.:scared1: My computer crashed and we didn't have it for almost two weeks.I have also started a full time job.I haven't worked full time since before the kids were born and it has been a huge adjustment.All four kids are playing sports and I have been leaving the house at 7:30 am and getting back after 9:00pm.then laundry,etc...a little overwhelmed.Anyway I didn't meen to start venting,just wanted to let you know I miss keeping up with all your lives and hopefully this weekend(between going to my first college football game and two of my kids being baptised) I will get a chance to read about how wonderful Fockerfest was.:surfweb:
Amy, you always make me tired just READING about your life. We missed you, and of course you can vent! :hug:
Ok so everyone's wants of naps yesterday actually made me take a nap and I wasn't on the DIS at that time. Do you think it's like synched periods or somethin?? :confused3 Anyhoo, thank goodness you guys weren't too chatty.
Shhh - I wound up taking one, too! :rolleyes1
Well after my impromptu nap that lasted waaay to long I pressure cleaned the front of the house outside and our screened in terrace area in the back. Then cleaned the rest of the house. :crazy2: These are the times I'm happy we have a small house.
See, after my nap, I remained fairly useless. You rock!
They never called me about the supposed promotion, so I'm a little :mad: about that. I spent the rest of my time applying for a whole bunch of jobs online. I really hate job hunting. :guilty:
:hug:
Oh, it's so hard when they're struggling! Hugs for all of you!
Thanks. Believe me, I know it's so much less than what you're dealing with. He's just always had a hard time with change. :hug:
YIKES! :eek:
So, Woody was fine this morning. Maybe it was just "middle of the night" sadness - even though it was only 10:30 or so. ;)
I, however, also slept poorly. I wasn't nervous, but it was hot and muggy in my room. I may pop back into bed for an hour or so.
Got nothing planned for today, so that's kind of nice. If I go back to sleep for just a bit, I can still get some cleaning and laundry done later. It's supposed to be hot again today - they've upped the forecasted high again. The weekend, however, is still supposed to be blech. Oh well.
We have our playgroup parent potluck dinner tomorrow night, which should be fun. We're doing Italian, so I am bringing garlic bread. I told my friend that I feel lame only bringing that (well, and wine) but that's the beauty of these - with 7 people bringing something, none of us need to bring a lot, you know? The hostess does the main dish, so... :thumbsup2
So, I'm off to be lazy - see you all in a little bit! I really wish everyone a supercalifragilisticexpialidocious morning. pixiedust:
MEL
Oh wow Mel...that doesn't sound fun at all. Hope you and SD have a good day though!
Good Morning everyone!
With all this talk about napping I think I'm heading to take one myself. Linds is at school and DR doesn't go to preschool until noon so I just may snooze a bit on the couch and let DR chill, eat breakfast and watch a movie. I'll be able to clean in peace and quiet when both of them are in school.
Lindsey actually wanted to get a hot lunch today. I guess she wasn't liking what I was packing her. Either that or she wants to try it out once to see what it's like. :confused3
Have a good day everyone!
I have some GOOD News I am getting another House to manage. It has more people but a super staff and they are mostly much higher functioning and it is within walking distance of home . I was allowed to keep my same schedule Tues - Sat which I love as I can be home on Mondays when school is off for all those teacher holidays !!:lmao: oops I mean National Holidays :rotfl2: I should start by the end of the month!!:banana:
congrats, rosie!!:thumbsup2
No, it hasn't rained all week. ;)
thanks for the update, i'm keeping an eye on those tropical storms/hurricanes! hopefully it won't rain on my parade next week.
oh yeah, luv, luv, luv the hair. and that is a great picture!! you're very pretty, don't be so hard on yourself!;)
It is hard to keep up with things here
very hard!! i agree. oh, and i love your smiley!!!
Well witchy poo was told, very clearly, I am not moving to the new building with her. Um, she was less than happy:lmao:
he, he, he :lmao:
He leaves Sunday afternoon and comes back Wed. He leaves Thursday and is gone for 9 days. :headache: By then, the kids and I will be done with each other, I fear.
i don't know how you do it ce!!! i would lose my mind for sure!:hug:
Psych. went well. She recommended that we move up the psychiatrist (we did, it's now the 18th) and that we continue with the plan at school. Also, she told Sd to take a valium tonight. He didn't sleep well last night and she said that right now it's more important for him to sleep so he's at least WELL RESTED to deal with school. I agree! And he's going to go to the classes he missed today and yesterday, after school tomorrow, to get his work and let the teachers know that he's trying to not get behind!
I am going to email them and give them a heads up right now....
Hope you guys had a good day!
MEL:banana:
here's another one, can never have too many! :hug:
He's more the FIRM supportive type...sounds like a jock strap.....:lmao:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: you crack me up!!!
Grrrr... Mama bear's cranky. :mad:
A had baseball practice tonight. It's supposed to be from 7:00-7:30. Then K would go pick up B at dance by 8. I went to get B tonight because C's drama class isn't starting until next week.
K called at 8:15 and told me they were still at practice and he didn't know how long it would be. I was ticked. WTH?! 5 & 6 year old boys don't need to have an hour and half of practice, especially on a school night! Tomorrow he's going to be a real stinker! :headache:
K's defending the coach and saying it's the time they gave us, not the coach. Whatever... if it's supposed to be over at 7:30, then be over at 7 stinkin' thirty!
4.gif
Now K's mad at me for yelling and I'm mad his on the coach's side. Stupid baseball.
15.gif
:hug: :hug: :hug:
I'm having my carpet cleaned in the morning. And then I'm becoming a grandmother tomorrow at 11:30.
dude, dont' scare me like that!!!:eek: :lmao:
One time is one thing, but now K's saying it was always an hour long, not 30 minutes. Uh... that's not what I was told. Plus, K has a job to do- pick up B from dance at 8. I'll be annoyed if it falls on me and I have to come home for 30 mins., then go get her too.
The coach said they could leave when he needed to, but if I push it anymore and tell K he needs to leave so they can get B, he'll be annoyed at me. I guess the "cool kids" or "good players" don't leave earlier than the other kids. Dads priorities are so different than moms! :sad2:
On a good note- at least A played last week he was mad no one from last year was on his team, so he refused to play. K was mad. A was mad. It was a mess.
but tonight A came home so happy and told me he hit the ball to the other field and that someone had to jump the fence and get it. That's my boy! :lovestruc I think he's pretty good for a 5 yr old. :thumbsup2
.
Look Out Mamma's Not happy... and we all know... and hopefully our families know.... IF MOMMA AIN'T HAPPY... NO BODY'S HAPPY:mad:
:lmao: :lmao: :lmao:
Poor baby though. :hug: Do you remember when school was fun?? :sad2:
::yes:: Recess... and time to play and be loud.
But too much fun is another problem.
Sara's BFF left for a school last year that... UH.. I Think Plays too much.
K-5th grades have NO TESTS !!
They Do projects, Plays, Write Stories and Poems, Lots of Field trips and go Swimming, Do Music Lessons, and have SERIOUS ART CLASSES... all to encourage their Imagination and their Creative sides.
Yes Today's School Kids do not get enough of those things.. But These kids do not appear to get enough or any of the basics. Sara's Friend has serious Panic issues.that was why she left School. At first she did home schooling.. but you still have to take tests.
So now Emma LOVES to go to school... WELL DUH.. It's PLAY TIME.
Now I would expect Emma's outlook to change some next year as they do some testing in "middle school". So They will probably begin to teach all the "educational stuff" ( 1+1 = 2 , Red, Blue, Black, Washington DC is our National Capital.. etc)
So Sara is still bugging me to send her there, and I tell her... " Uh Sara.. if I do.. I am afraid you will be behind for 6th Grade next year WHEN YOU WOULD GO BACK TO PUBLIC SCHOOL." I will not compromise your education to make you happy.I tried getting you into a new School but I could not. I can not afford the Private Schools , I would love to send you to one." You only get stronger by trials. Yes too many will destroy your spirit if there is too much failure. That is not your problem... you do not want to Try hard.. it needs to come easy or you want to quit."
So she gets mad at me. :guilty:
::yes:: I do think, without any conscious effort by me (and I was indeed valedictorian - school was important to me) that he picked up my "everything must be done perfectly" vibe. D'oh.
And Sarabeth did not get that gene from me like I sort of wish she had...( it can be a curse.. she has the roots of it.. but will not keep pushing if it's hard) she got her Dad's:mad: just slip by gene.:mad: :mad:
Lessa: Great now I want to go to Williamsburg.....:scratchin:
I'm Open for a "Meet" ... anybody mildly serious ??
.
MEL
:scared1: HOW DID YOU SLEEP THROUGH THAT??:scared1:
Then again.. your body probably just crashed.. with the stress of the week.. had the tree hit your house you Might have stirred but went back to sleep. :hug:
I took a nice bath, but was interrupted by Woody bawlling. He's just feeling tired and worried about spelling, I think (he has his first spelling test tomorrow) but he's unhappy.
Sigh.
:hug:
Tomorrow we are running some errands and planning on relaxing out in the neighborhood somewhere, at least to be out of the house because the weather has been beautiful!
keepin my fingers crossed that ike doesn't come your way and you find a job you like!!:hug:
I never remember school being fun, until I got to college:rolleyes1
Oh, and my mom was my first grade teacher, because the school was so small. One classroom per grade, mom is THE first grade teacher, so...
DId you call her Mrs (Last name) or mom?:confused:
Last night we had Back to School Night, our first:sad2: . We got to see the classroom, and meet the teachers. They seem nice. Can't really tell much after only a half hour, KWIM? We also picked up his uniforms. I will take pics on Monday, Jimmy's first day.
TOday I have Matt and Jimmy. We have to go to school to trade in the sweatshirts we got for Jimmy's uniform becasue we ordered too many and we need to get the next size up. The boys are very excited that they are going to actually get to GO INTO School. Rose has a half day today so we will pick her up and then I think I will take the kids to Old McDOnald's for lunch and from there, I don't know...maybe the playground?
Janet: Make sure you post a pic when you get Jimmy all dressed for school....we love us some Mini-Janet!!
I'm cleaning the house. It's awfully dirty and I haven't devoted a single second of time to it lately. :sad2: The floor took TWO moppings! Blech!
