The lady putting the spacers was sooo funny - she told me to stop at the store on the way home and get 2 bottles. One of wine and the other one Advil! :eek:
T, Ha! I say maybe 2 wine, 1 advil ... but that's me! :confused3

Hey!! I'm cool again!!!
Sorry your power is out, Mel. :mad: I can put on my sexy Disney PJs again and see if that will get those repairs going! ;)

TE, it musta worked! Power back at 3:30 am! Whoo Hoo!

There is no putting up with.,....vent away lady! :hug:
Yeah, what she said. :hug:

I was in high school and a few friends and myself went across the border into Juarez, Mexico. I vaguely remember tequila and a man in a chacha shirt offering shirts out of his/her cleavage. ;)

You do win! :rotfl2:

My motha only made me come unglued once...when she questioned my mothering skills in front of a whole group of strangers. :mad: I won't get into the details...but let's just say...she won't be doing that again. I think. Maybe. Or maybe not. :rotfl2:

She criticized the dinner I made for them on Friday because I didn't take into account that she "is fat" and make something healthier. :stir: But...she did eat all of her stroganoff! :rotfl:

The point is...I survived!

Glad you survived! Yes, I do win! Your motha is fat? where? :confused:
---------------

Had to do my quotes first so that I could go BACK and read CE's Nice/Paris report and comment seperately!

Power's back on. It's POURING! But, today is going to be "cool." Only 85 degrees out. I am sure that it's much the same in FL as with the snow/ice/winter here- where we don't go out if it's bad and that lasts 9 MONTHS of the year. I can surely bear a few days of this....right?

Mel:banana:

Hey CE, forcing yourself to stay awake so you can get back on schedule?
I made it until 10:30! :rotfl2: Still woke up much earlier than usual, though.

CE- Those pictures look great! Makes me want to go there tomorrow. What brought the whole crew there? I must have missed that.

D's a corporate pilot, and since they pay for separate hotel rooms anyway... Plus, once a year - I think in order to make up for not having jump seat priveleges - they'll pay for a spouse's ticket if they're going somewhere good. :thumbsup:

Oh Janet, I feel your pain. Tink just threw up everywhere and can't stop coughing. I have been up and down from her room tending to her. Not sure what to do for her. I gave her a bit of cough syrup, a bowl and a sippy of water. My dh is in New Jersey, so he is no help.

Hugs to her, and you.

Nice looks beautiful CE!

Thanks, much more to come! :goodvibes

Welllllll... apparently he was dating her while MIL was still living. :rolleyes1

Oh, my...

C.E. the trip sounds great. In the beach pic what is up with all the fences? Is it to mark peoples area?

Yep, the "beach" is free, but if you want a lounge chair, waiter, etc., they have little charge areas for most hotels and some more are just like restaurants.

and if i missed anyone, sorry again and hi !!

Hi, Rachel! :wave2:

TE, it musta worked! Power back at 3:30 am! Whoo Hoo!

Hooray!

I'm also considering Tea at the GF as a possibility. I too shall mull. ;)

Mull strongly. It's lovely. :thumbsup2

:hug: :hug: I'm so sorry for all you're dealing with. I can somewhat relate for sure. After loosing my mom (2 years ago now) I lost most of the rest of my family. It still stinks to not have much family around. And I always think of how sad I'll be when I finally have babies of my own and I can't share it with me mom.

Hugs to you both. :hug:

My motha only made me come unglued once...when she questioned my mothering skills in front of a whole group of strangers. :mad: I won't get into the details...but let's just say...she won't be doing that again. I think. Maybe. Or maybe not. :rotfl2:

She criticized the dinner I made for them on Friday because I didn't take into account that she "is fat" and make something healthier. :stir: But...she did eat all of her stroganoff! :rotfl:

The point is...I survived!

:scared1: :faint: :hug:

I have this thing that has been looming in the banks of my mind for weeks, yet I have not shared it.
I'm so sorry Jenn, it does seem quite soon for your Dad to find someone else, but if they're happy :confused3 He definitely shouldn't be neglecting everyone else though. Your friend sounds a wonderful courageous woman!

Ouch. Tis the season. Maybe you should take a dip in the loo?:rotfl:.
Ewwwww :rotfl2:

It is so hot here that they closed the schools at 12:00. They are doing the same again tomorrow !
They close for heat as well as snow :confused:

My motha and my family are gone. And I survived the weekend.
Wooohooo :rotfl2:

I'm really tired now, thinking it's around 2:00 a.m., but I'm trying to work through it to get to "normal".
It's amazing how long it takes!!!

Nope he had a 102.8 fever when we took him up his bath. He's sick :sad2:
Oh no, as T said I hope it's one of those 24hr things!

Welllllll... apparently he was dating her while MIL was still living. :rolleyes1
Nooooooo :eek:

jo-- did i read that you played golf? :confused3 :rotfl2:
Where'd you read that? :rotfl2:

but i did mention that we would be taking turns at disney if he wasn't behaving and one of us had to leave with him. that's only fair! he agreed , so we're cool :cool2:
Definitely fair :thumbsup2

Power's back on.
Wooohoooo :yay:

CE loving your French tales so far :goodvibes

I've just been on the phone to Disney Dining, I phoned at 7am your time, first time it was shut, second time I was put on hold for 35 minutes :faint: And then I couldn't get what I wanted so kept it all the same :lmao:

CE: Gorgeous! Can't wait for more!

Power is STILL on. That's good (and noteworthy) because usually after a big outtage, it comes back on and then goes on and off sporadically till it stabilizes. Wacky MI power grid.

This morning I woke my DS15 up for school at 6, got him out the door (I went with to hold the umbrella so I could bring it back inside after he caught the bus) and the bus pulled up, driver leaned out the door and said NO SCHOOL and drove away.
UH? Ok.
So, we went back inside and turned on the telly. (LY JO) They had cancelled DS's and another school in town for power outtage. Poor DS10 has school. He's bummed! But, the other is thrilled to a. Not have school and b. have power and video games!

So, guess I'm going to be around today! :thumbsup2

Mel

Oh crap, Janet. I hope it's just that 24 hour bug that's going around! Poor little dude!:sick:

He seems better today. No fever, but we are thinking sinus infection. Jim is taking him to the Doctor's just in case.

Oh, no, I hope he feels better soon. :worried:

::yes::

:hug: Jen. Now barfing here, just the fever. Hope it stays that way

Welllllll... apparently he was dating her while MIL was still living. :rolleyes1

No way:eek:

They close for heat as well as snow :confused:

Not all the time. This was a freak thing and most of the school buildings here in Philly are over 100 years old and have no air conditioning. So, when the heat index is 110 degrees it can get quite toasty:faint:

I've just been on the phone to Disney Dining, I phoned at 7am your time, first time it was shut, second time I was put on hold for 35 minutes :faint: And then I couldn't get what I wanted so kept it all the same :lmao:

No Capt. Jacks :sad2:

---------------------------------------------------------------------

Good morning all. Jimmy seemed ok this am, no fever, but we kept him home from school anyway. He says his head hurts, which is making Jim and I think sinus infection. Jim stayed home with him today and I will take the rest of the week. Hopefully he will be well enough to go to graduation on Friday. If it is a sinus infection the Dr. will give him an anti-biotic and as long as he is fever free he will go back to school tomorrow.

Glad your power is on and staying on. We didn't loose power here but I noticed that some traffic lights were out in places when I took my niece home yesterday. It was in the Jackson/Spring Arbor area.
He seems better today. No fever, but we are thinking sinus infection. Jim is taking him to the Doctor's just in case.
Glad his fever has broke. Hope it is nothing serious.
***************************
Nana has try outs for flag corp today and then the tennis team is getting together for the end of the year swim.]
I will be home all day trying to figure out why my dish washer is leaving yuck on the inside of the glasses and back of plates. I also need to get the entertainment center posted on Craig's List.
It is still raining here but has slowed down a lot. It is also staying cooler (low 80's).

CE loving your French tales so far :goodvibes

Thanks! I thought of you all week. :goodvibes

The nice thing about getting up early is that it's not quite 9:00 and yet I've done two loads of laundry, made an actual hot breakfast for the boys, made coffee, and done a lot of work uploading my pictures. :thumbsup2

I slept a lot better - somehow having the AC on downstairs does seem to help with the upstairs - maybe just that the heat from downstairs is no longer rising up? Plus I had good fans, being back in my room. ;)

There is no putting up with.,....vent away lady! :hug:

Who better to vent to? :hug: :hug:

I would be much crabbier if it was me. I think you are handling this all quite well and have another :hug:
Thanks girls. :hug: MY MIL has been really driving me up the wall with arguing with me about everything I say, so I've been trying to keep a lid on it, but I'm so tired of hurting... :worried:

Hey LL, hand over that Mother of the Year Award now :( . Remember earlier I said that we didn't do anything becasue Jimmy just seemed REALLY tired after he got home from school. I figured it was just the brutal heat wearing him out right? Nope he had a 102.8 fever when we took him up his bath. He's sick :sad2: . Won't be going to school tomorrow. Jim will take tomorrow off since they are getting out at 12:00 again anyway. I was planning on Thursday and Friday off for cleaning/prepping for BBQ on SAturday and Graduation is on Friday. I hope he is well enough to go to that, even if he misses the rest of the week. :sad2:
Oh no! Poor Jimmy! I'm glad he doesn't have a fever this morning and I hope the doctor can figure out what's going on. Poor guy! :(

To top it off, the toilette plugged. EWWWWW!

:hug: Oh no! Poor thing!

CE: What beautiful pictures! Thanks for sharing!

Mel: I'm glad your electricity's on again.

I decided to go ahead and take the kids to grandma's this morning. They'll be back Friday. I'll miss them so much. :( I was going to wait to hear from the doctor about rescheduling my sirgery sooner, but I figure if it's really soon, I'll tell mom I want them back. I want to take them swimming and to do a few fun things before I'm down for a month, YKWIM? Plus, they'll be at my mom's for 4-5 days while I'm in the hospital and recovering.

So, I'll be gone until this afternoon. the nurse said the doctor was told about how I'm still feeling and will be looking at her schedule, so I'm hoping to hear from them today while I'm out. Everyone have a nice day while I'm gone. :goodvibes

Florida in August would kill me!! But I'm sureFloridians would die during our sub zero winters !!
As a veteran of both Buffalo winters and Florida summers, I have to say it would be a draw, except for the Sun Factor. I'll suffer through summers down here in the name of seeing sunlight for more than 2 months a year!
Have you been to any of them before? I say AP but thats because I have never been there and wanted to try it.
All but CR. I loved AP when I last went, but it occured to me last night - I'd likely order a filet there... and I'm not sure it would beat the Le Cell filet! So I'm leaning toward lunch at Le Cell and tea at GF. I'm still mulling, though ;)

When life seems to get you, you realize that others have it worse than you.
Know what though Jen? You're allowed to hurt over your own problems every bit as much as someone else is over their own. WHy? Because it's happenign to you. :hug: It's been my experience that people grieve in very, very different ways - all of this may be your dad's method of coping. I'm not saying it's the best method, nor that it isn't hurting your family, but it might just be that. When my father died, my stepmother pretty much diappeared form my life, along with my half-brother. She also checked out as a parent. It's beyond my comprehension, but apparently it was all she could do. :confused3 Hang in there.

It is so hot here that they closed the schools at 12:00. They are doing the same again tomorrow
I froget that most northern schools don't have AC!

My motha only made me come unglued once...when she questioned my mothering skills in front of a whole group of strangers. :mad: I won't get into the details...but let's just say...she won't be doing that again. I think. Maybe. Or maybe not. :rotfl2:
Yeah, based on my own experience, I wouldn't count on it! :rotfl2: Glad to hear you survived, though!

Thanks to all for welcoming me back! :goodvibes
Hi CE! I'll come back later to read about France - I want to give it my full attention!
My parents are completely flooded in IL - my dad finally got to plant his 500 acres of soybeans last week and now has to do them all again - his gallbladder surgery was postoned from tomorrow because of this. Yikes.
No kidding, yikes! Hope things improve quickly.
True. However, I don't want to sound whiny, BUT I bet you at least have full-time, whole-house A/C. ;) The exhaust fans we use in the upstairs bedrooms have thermostats and therefore tempurature displays, and I just put the boys to bed in an 83 degree room. :faint:
Um, well, kinda... when the outside temp hits 93ish+, my AC runs and runs to stay at 82. Fun.

BT/DT. :( Poor Jimmy! Hope he's on the mend now.

Nope, I'm totally with you on that! I suspect I'd be happiest in the Caribbean or Hawaii. :cloud9:

I am sure that it's much the same in FL as with the snow/ice/winter here- where we don't go out if it's bad and that lasts 9 MONTHS of the year.
Yep, that's pretty much the gist of it! Up north, I hibernated all winter - down here, I hibernate all summer! :rotfl:
I've just been on the phone to Disney Dining, I phoned at 7am your time, first time it was shut, second time I was put on hold for 35 minutes :faint: And then I couldn't get what I wanted so kept it all the same :lmao:
Jo, you, too - step away from the phone! ;)
I will be home all day trying to figure out why my dish washer is leaving yuck on the inside of the glasses and back of plates.
Have you tried running it with a bunch of vinegar? Helps clean out the parts, which might help.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Nothing too exciting here. Leo started summer camp yesterday... same school, teachers, students, but he's having fun! We're both jonsing for some water park time... maybe next-next weekend...
Hi CE! I'll come back later to read about France - I want to give it my full attention!
No problem, I'll be adding as I go along. :)
Oh, ugh. :hug: Ours seems to have finally kicked into gear, and indeed after tomorrow the rest of the 10-day is currently more like high 70's, so I'll shut up now. ;) If I made it through 109 inches of snow this winter, I can live with a few days of heat, now that the AC is working! :rotfl:
Oh no! Poor Jimmy! I'm glad he doesn't have a fever this morning and I hope the doctor can figure out what's going on. Poor guy! :(
Thanks..update below:goodvibes
You don't do fish? The salmon at AP is to die for::yes::
I froget that most northern schools don't have AC!
::yes:: That's why we will never have year round school. The cost to AC all the old buildings would be :faint:
BT/DT. :( Poor Jimmy! Hope he's on the mend now.
:thumbsup2 - update below!
Nothing too exciting here. Leo started summer camp yesterday... same school, teachers, students, but he's having fun! We're both jonsing for some water park time... maybe next-next weekend...
V do you ever just do a day trip over (leave and go home in the same day) ?
---------------------------------------------------------------------
Update on Jimmy: Jim took him to the Doctor. No fever, no sinus infection, nothing. She seems to think, if the fever doesn't come back it was just all the heat of the last couple of days got to him. Jim said he is fine, they were having breakfast at "Old McDonalds" and then were going to go to the library.
On the flip side...the Doctor told Jim that the hospital that owns that practice is selling, and that she and the other Doctor (we love both of them) are leaving that practice. We got very upset until she told us that she and the other Doctor are opening their own practice just a mile or so from the house:woohoo: We will be following them::yes:: LEgally she couldn't give us any information in the office while the sale is srill "pending" but she gave Jim and email addy and website to check out:thumbsup2
I still think I am going to take the rest of the week off. It will give me a couple of days to get the house in some kind of shape. With Jim being sick, and then the garage sale, etc...things are just in an uproar if you know what I mean.
I will be home all day trying to figure out why my dish washer is leaving yuck on the inside of the glasses and back of plates.
Like V, I would use vinegar. You can fill up a small bowl and place it upright on your top shelf and run it without anything else. I have used Apple Cider Vinegar to help with the stinch. I have a stainless steel dishwasher and when it was finished running, that thing shined like the top of the Chrysler Building!
V- I do know I can feel sad. I feel that when ever I turn around someone else is dealing with things far, far worse. I think it is life. Especially as I get older... people are just having more carp to deal with. As for my "dad" dating his deceased wifes best friend after 2 months of her being gone... Just can't comprehend. At first I thought it was a mistaken way of coping. Now I think he has lost his rocker! He has basically checked out of our lives. For me, I have a family. My own family. For my little "brothers" this is just unexceptable!
Leo's summer program should be a blast for him. I think most of those programs are a whole bunch of summer fun for kids! I debated about putting my ds in one for just 1-2 days a week, but I enrolled him in so much other stuff, that I think we will be okay.
CE- So he had to fly a bunch of corporate people to Nice? Must be rough for those travelers. ;)
Mel- Glad to hear the power is on! Maybe the rain will cool it down a bit?
T- That is just wrong. I have told my dh that if something happens to me, I want him to find someone else. Someone to be a companion to him and a wonderful mother to our children. I have also instructed him that I will roll over in my grave and haunt him should he immediately date and introduce someone else into our home. The time following a death should be a time to grieve. It is my expectation that he grieves and is there for our children to grieve!
Jo- You do not want to incur long distance charges, now do you? What possibly would you need to change?
Rachel- My ds wants to see that movie. 2 year olds and movies can be tough. Good thing he lasted almost the whole thing.
SSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSSS
We are going to clean up our house and take showers. We had a lazy day yesterday. The kids and I literally laid in bed the whole day. They watched movies and I played on the computer. It was definitely needed! I need to tweak a few things on our schedule for WDW in Dec. Having never gone in Dec. I have so many "what if's/should we's in my mind".:confused3
Forgot to tell you all that Tink is just fine today. No coughing or barfing. Must have bee a one nighter.
You don't do fish? The salmon at AP is to die for::yes::
I do, and I generally love salmon... but I don't do "pork belly hash." :crazy2:
BUT, darned if I didn't see/read about the Mahi Mahi at CR this morning on that wedding TR you pimped out - THAT sounds wonderful! :headache:
V do you ever just do a day trip over (leave and go home in the same day) ?
Once in a while. It's hard for me becuase I'm typically falling asleep on the way home... not good if I'm the only driver! :eek:
Update on Jimmy: Jim took him to the Doctor. No fever, no sinus infection, nothing.
Yay! :yay:
Have fun!
CE- So he had to fly a bunch of corporate people to Nice? Must be rough for those travelers. ;)
Yep, it's tough for them. ;) But, hey, it is the perfect job for D, so that's fine. :thumbsup2
Oh, good.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

I'm off to get the kids in a bit and then we have a playgroup today, so I'll be out for the afternoon.

D had the snowblower out a bit ago! :rotfl: He was just cleaning it off and making sure I didn't kill it that last time I used it in the slush in April, but it was kind of a shock to look outside and see what was making the noise. :laughing:

I think the playgroup hostess is setting up a kiddie pool and some sprinklers, so it should be a fine afternoon.

I hope you all have a great day. :hippie:

That did look good. Jimmy liked CR too for the tank..especially the Sea Turtle:thumbsup2

\my seatmate was a lovely young lady doing her master's degree at the American University in Paris, heading back for summer session after a visit to her parents in MA.
Oh, she's living my fantasy! :goodvibes
