Morning Lessa!

My word we've been chatty... Janet, I'll take the 21st. 30 points. ;)

I gave up on even catching up with yesterday, so if something big happened after about 10:00 a.m., someone let me know. ;)

Sorry I've been a little MIA even after getting back. D is around, we did the Field Day thing yesterday, I've been trying to get some "after trip" things done, and I've just not had the computer time. :( I miss you all, though. And I know several of you have TR's that I've not seen the updates for - I'll get there, I promise, but when I DO have the computer time, I'm just checking in here.

Mel, Happy Anniversary! :thumbsup2

Dawn, take all the time you need. :hug:

Miz, tell Mr Diz good luck. My dad was supposed to have his GB out Tuesday, but it was postponed due to the flooding in the Midwest. He's a farmer and has to replant a bunch of soybeans now. :worried:

Jen2, glad Jon had a good birthday. :thumbsup2

Jo, sorry about the foot. :hug:

T, missed about your teeth but hope they're better. Good luck with the externship!

Anything else I'm forgetting, sorry! Hi all!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Field Day was fun. The weather was lovely - 80ish but not humid. :thumbsup2
We don't have much going on today - the boys just went off to school. I think D & I will go to the gym. T-ball practice in the evening, but that's about it.
We have our playgroup parent dinner thing on Saturday (every other month, can't believe it's time again!) and t-ball goes on for two more weeks. I kind of forgot that Sunday is Father's Day, so I'd best do something about that. Yikes.
Next week we have a bunch of small school things, beach day, picnic day, etc. though we don't end until 6/24.
I am meant to be getting the trash gathered - forgot last night - so I'll check out for now. Hopefully I'll see you all later! :wave:
(I have time before D's ready to go work out.)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So, the next morning we got up and enjoyed the hotel's (Le Meridien) lovely breakfast. It was a very nice buffet, and just one of those little touches - the hostess was SO nice and remembered D from the previous day, etc.

The other four had rented a car the day before, but of course 6 people wouldn't fit. So, D went and got us a car, as well, and then we all set off for Monaco. The weather had said it would be around 70 and sunny, but it got a LOT warmer, which was kind of too bad. Oh well.

There are actually 3 or 4 small towns within the tiny principality of Monaco. We parked at first near the palace in the Vieux Ville (old town). Upon coming out of the garage, we found this:

The Musee de Oceanographie. Cool!

We did not go in.

We followed a lovely little street up toward the palace and just saw many beautiful, beautiful flowers and houses, etc.

We stopped into the Cathedral (where Princess Grace is buried...)

And then we toured the Palace. No pictures allowed, sadly. Here I am outside, though!

We then drove around the bay and into Monte Carlo. The Grand Prix had been the previous weekend, so they were taking down the stands:

We ate lunch very near the Casino, which is here:

We didn't gamble - you have to show a passport and not all 6 of us had it, plus we weren't really dressed for it. ;)

We got back to Nice around 6:00 and cleaned up. Here's the view from our room's balcony at sunset.

We all met up for dinner at a place that my Frommer's guide (and the concierge) had recommended. I had possibly the best gnochhi ever made. ;)

It was a fun day, but we did kind of need a better plan in Monte Carlo. Six people who had different ideas about what kind of lunch to have (formal, not, etc.) was a little tense. Oh well. We were glad to have seen it, and by dinner we were all in agreement again. :thumbsup2

:faint: I'm so tired and I just woke up! Maybe I need coffee...
I thought I was going to have to go get the kids early today b/c B was crying last night and wanted to come home. But now this morning she wants to stay and come home tomorrow like we planned. :confused3 It doesn't matter to me, but her crying really upset me and now I'm worried she'll be upset again tonight. :worried:

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I don't have any plans today so far. I'm thinking I'll spend some time on the computer planning out the last 3 weeks of lesson plans I want to get done before the surgery, then put those books on eBay. So, I guess it'll be a quiet day here. :surfweb:
Wow! CE the pics are so great! You look very happy in your picture. How nice, Nice!
Mel:banana:
Friday is my anniversary. 13 years (on Friday the thirteenth).
Happy Almost-Anniversary!
We're going to Disney World in the morning:worship:
Me too - isn't that wierd? I get no "up" feeling from it at all. :confused:
Who have summer tips for me? Come on... I know someone does. I have never ever been in the summer. :faint:::yes::
1. It's hotter than hades. Take afternoon breaks. I'm not kidding. It's very important.
What Jen said. ::yes:: Do anything - ANYTHING - that's cool... swim, movie, nap, etc.
I'll add hit the parks at rope drop or EMH AMs. Morning is their friend. :thumbsup2
Woo hoo! Leo and I swam laps after dinner!
Haven't been by here in a while... just checkin in to say hi to anyone who was hanging around during my previous short stint.
Hiya! :wave:
Uh........she turned her nose up and went and the dog's food.:mad: I read an article just now and it said to transition over a week (course I'm leaving Sat so that week may have to be later.)
I googled feline obesity and all the articles said "no more dry food"---I feel really bad--I thought it was best. :confused:
Uh-oh... mine (that looks just like yours) won't touch wet food with a ten-foot pole. :(
I just paid my balance on my WDW trip :yay: :yay: :yay:
Yay!
Today is my 16th Anniversary!
Happy Anniversary!
Look what I've bought, I ordered them a few days ago as they were BOGOF so a good deal, they came today but these are a printscreen from the website!
Those are gorgeous Jo! :goodvibes
CE - I'm loving the pics and tales from Nice!
I have that same shirt - isnt' it sooooo comfy? :cloud9:
It doesn't matter to me, but her crying really upset me and now I'm worried she'll be upset again tonight. :worried:
:hug:
_____________________________________________________________
Nothing new here. Still hot. Still humid. Still raining every afternoon.
Not that I'm complaining. :rolleyes:
We could use the rain here. I can't even remember the last time it rained. April? I dunno... :confused3
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I have a question- I'm having some mom guilt. (What's new?) MY FIL gave one of our kids (B) a savings bond every month for a few years. He never did the other two kids for some reason. :confused3 Would it be wrong of me to cash them out and put them in B's account so she could use some of the money on the 9 costumes she needs for dance this fall? FIL never said what it was for, so I am thinking we can use it when we feel it would benefit her. We let her try-out for the team knowing it was very expensive, but figuring we'll scrape up the money. We still can, but now I'm having surgery and that will be a lot out of pocket. I feel so bad about "using" her own money, but is that silly? :confused3 :worried:

A DRESS CODE for GAMBLING ?? You are kidding .. right...?

I can just hear my conversation with the "Bouncer's"...

" Oh I am so sorry I am just a stupid American Tourist with $1,000.00 in my wallet that I WILL BE LOSING BTW, because I am terrible at gambling. Why is my "Mickey Mouse" T-shirt not good enough ?? I left my Tiara and evening gown in the hotel.. As I needed them clean for tonight's dinner gala with Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Raffarin ":lmao:

Does "B" know about these ??:confused3 My thoughts are since they are not designated... then they are availabile for her use immediate or long term.
I am assuming there is a "maturity date" ?? If they have been coming every month for a while.. some of them might be at maturity.Use some for suppliment.. put the rest away for later.

If she knows about them .. I would ask her if she would like to use some now towards her costumes and put the rest away for later use.

No. She doesn't know about them. I feel certain that she would want to use them for her costumes if I ask her. To her they're not "real money" so I don't think she'd care as long as she gets to dance. YKWIM?
