Wooohoooo and  about the school, do the teachers not think it's good enough?

The schools here can only go at the pace of the average child of that particular school.

R you pregnant:yay:

My mom is home this week. I can ask her to get them and mail them up to you when she gets back next week. I'm pretty sure I have your address but email it to me just in case. And write exactly what you want!

Now don't go starting naughty rumors, Janet! My BIL's girlfriend is pregnant. Angela may be able to pick something up, if not, I will let you know. Thanks bunches!

Don't privates have financial aid?

I may be there this weekend. I'll let you know.

I plan to call three schools today to check on aid and/or scholarships.

Just let me know about this weekend!!! :goodvibes

That;s awesome! I personally would not recommend going into debt for private school. If you are already planning on moving then I would make a good school district the top priority in selecting a new home. Hope that helps

I have a lot of soul searching to do.

Y'know, I appreciate where she's coming form with that, but what a terrible position to put the parent in. I mean, are you now supposed to feel guilty if those just aren't possible options?:hug:

I didn't sleep much last night.

If it really is the parents number then call but if the DD is so stupid will the parents really care?

I'll admit that I wondered if the parents would get mad at her for being the messenger.

She never posted what happened when she tried to call - I'll have to ask. ;)

But it's meant to be fun so my attitude is all hit and you never know. Make sense? :rotfl2:

::yes::

Just going to give this from the legal side...TELL! If she happened to send that to a wrong number and that number was a cop or other law enforcement person she could be arrested for transporting pornography.

Someone else brought that up. I just think what would happen if someone like a teenage boy got it and put it on the internet? Yikes. I'll let you know what happened when I find out.

How was gambling?

I loved the coverage of the roof closing. :rotfl2:

I actually missed that - the boys had Nickelodeon on for most of the day. :sad2:

Really motivates me to do something! Like read.:lmao:

Sounds perfect!

ITA. I usually check the number at least three times myself

:rotfl:

I've never been on a course, but I'm pretty good with the Wii! :rotfl2:

:lmao:

I somehow managed to pinch something in my neck which is causing an insane amount of pain all over the left side of my head. I blame the Sadistic Wii Trainer. ;) I'm living on Advil and heat wraps at this point.

Oh, no! I hope it feels better soon.

*****************************************************
I have about 10 minutes until my day goes nuts. The boys have their well-checks this morning, for which we need to leave in 10 minutes. We've all had breakfast, the dog's been out and I have showered, which is pretty good for me for the summer. ;)

I think I mentioned last night, but we're trying to get playgroup going again this summer. It was an all-twins group, and we're nearly all in different towns, so once the kids got into school and activities, it fell apart. (Not surprising to me, but...) Anyway, these are the kids' oldest friends and except for Tara, my tennis friend with the girls, we've not seen anyone since probably November. So, I'd like to go, but it's 30 minutes in the opposite direction of my house from the doctor's office. It's very close to the gym, but I don't know if: 1. She wants people at her house until 2:45, which is when we'd need to go to the gym, since she's starting at 10:00; or 2. When I would get the dog out to pee again if we go straight there from the doctor and to the gym. Plus, I'd need to pack tennis stuff up, which I've not done.

The boys have tennis from 3-4, and then we did get my Thursday morning class moved to Tuesday afternoons, so it's 4-5:30.

Anyway, it's a crazy looking day. I think I'm supposed to have playgroup next week, so I may just decide to wait to see everyone for one more week. My only other choice is to hit playgroup for maybe an hour, then come home and get ready for tennis, but that's a lot of driving back and forth. :confused3

I've gotta get moving - hope everyone has a great day! :grouphug: D is supposed to land around noon but he was going to work in the office for a bit and then possibly meet us for dinner at the club. But, since he's been in Europe, he'll probably be tired and fall asleep on the couch pretty early, so I'll be back! :rotfl2:

Hi all, I did all the quotes and was going to post again and guess what..I called into a meeting:headache:

Slate - Let us know how you make out with your phone calls:hug:

V- :hug:for missing Leo. Your are down to the 1 month mark!:thumbsup2

Hi Debra -

Hi CE :wave2:. Do the boys have to have a physical every year for school? I can't find any info out on this and am trying to figure out if I should make Jimmy's appointment before school starts or not.

------------------------

So mom and I had a ball at the Taj Mahal yesterday. We lost, but we we had fun:goodvibes We tried to go to the Disney outlet (gotta use that CM discount;)) but could not figure out wher the frick to park.:headache:

Got home about 10pm. Got stuff ready for work and went to bed. Got to work about 7:45 this morning and it has been heck allready. Can I just say I hate union electricians:mad: Everything they can possible do to prolong this job they are doing. I'm about to go up there and kick some butt.

Plans for the rest of the week are kind of fuzzy. I know for sure I am going to Bingo (don't laugh:rolleyes:) with my mom and my cousin. Friday we go to my brothers for fireworks, Saturday we go to my aunts for a BBQ, and Sunday we are going out for a big family dinner. Mom leaves on Monday morning:sad2: and then dad flies out on Tuesday:sad2:. On the plus side I will see them again in about a month:yay:.

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day:goodvibes

Good Morning All ! Didn't get much sleep as went to bed VERY late and was woken up by work at 8 am !!:scared1:Have to see the surgeon today as the final check on that lump !! I think he is gonna say the same as everyone ele hough so I am not toooo worried !

Kat good luck at work today!!

Jo how are the pierced ears doing ?:confused3

To all who need  and to everyone have a GOOD day!!:flower3:

Oops, Jo, not any more. Sorry. ;)

So, I think this is an interesting story. One of my FB friends - from my time in TX, none of you would have her as a friend - just posted something on her status.

She got a text as a wrong number from a teenage girl who texted her a, well, unclad picture of herself, meaning for it to go to her boyfriend. :sad2: My friend asked for her parents' number, because she thinks someone should know. She got a number from the girl, who's begging her not to tell, and is going to try it after work. Of course, she doesn't know if it's the right number.

What do you all think she should do? I voted "tell" because this girl is obviously not very bright - not only doing this, but sending it to a total stranger. Next time, she could send it to someone who is not my friend - a mom and a good citizen. I'd rather she get in trouble with her parents than bring down something worse on herself.

Or, is it not my friend's problem? If it is, and the girl didn't give her the real parents' number, should my friend pursue it further?

Just curious to see what you all thought. ;)

cmp, if your facebook friend sends that photo on her phone to the phone number she thinks is the girls' parents, and that photo is of a minor, she can be arrested for felony possession of child pornography. What she needs to do is take the phone into the police station and show them what happened. It is really important that she does not send it to anyone, there are, um, trafficking laws that come into effect. (we have several attorneys in the family, I kind of pick up stuff).

Hi everyone! I just wanted to pop in to say hey and to brag a little. DS12 won an award for having straight A's all year and also won the math award. :yay:

After the awards, his teacher asked if she could speak with me. She begged me to get him out of the school and either into private or another school district. (His 4th grade teacher said the same.) What do I do? We can't afford private and can only move when I house sells.

Is the school bad because they're not challenging him enough academically, or is the school bad because of discipline/teacher quality issues? There are some options for your kid if it's the former.

One of which is having him skip a year in school. There are several scholarly papers that have been written in the past few years that have strongly advocated acceleration of academically gifted children by having them skip one or more grades.

Another option is that several schools offer free tutoring. This is not only for kids that are having trouble keeping up, but also is available for accelerated children that would like more challenge and depth in their curriculum. This may be a good stop-gap option until you can get your house sold.

If you're moving to georgia or you live in georgia, I can point you in the direction of public schools that can accomodate your kid's abilities. :thumbsup2.

You may be able to find acacemic scholarships (vs. need based) for private schools based on his grades. However, it can be challenging to discover which private schools will challenge him as he needs to be challenged because many private schools do not release testing scores or make public the qualifications of their teachers (public schools are required to do both). Make sure if you go the private route that you don't jump out of the frying pan into the fire. If they don't want to show you their testing numbers or the qualifications of (especially) their math professors, be suspicious.

Other options are to drop the price of the house so low it hurts to get it sold. We did this last october when we moved from a school district that had an excellent elementary but abysmal middle and high schools. Our kids are in 4th and 5th this fall and I wanted to make the move to a district that could offer the kids what they required academically. We took a loss on the house but on the flip side we were able to buy a house that was substantially discounted, so it worked out.

Phew, sorry ladies that that was so heavy, I just wanted to get that info out there.

Hey, who played tennis with Debbie Downer? Been there, done that. I hate having a tennis partner who's head isn't in the game. I'm happy to play, I love to win but I'm ok to lose (enjoy the battle!). I've got some crazy tennis stories!

I don't play much, if at all, over the summer because the kids are home and it's just hard to get my act together to find a doubles partner, and I hate mixed doubles (men don't behave on the tennis court), so I just get all rusty over the summer and then practice like crazy before fall season starts...

Good :rotfl2:

I dislike playing with negative people like that
She was OK today I think I've bullied her enough in the past she dare not behave :rotfl2:

Yes, and it sounds FUN! I want to play golf with you one day. I've never been on a course, but I'm pretty good with the Wii! :rotfl2:
You're on :rotfl: and sorry about missing Leo

The schools here can only go at the pace of the average child of that particular school.
That's silly, don't they do gifted and talented classes?

I think I mentioned last night, but we're trying to get playgroup going again this summer.
So what did you decide???

So mom and I had a ball at the Taj Mahal yesterday. We lost, but we we had fun:goodvibes We tried to go to the Disney outlet (gotta use that CM discount;)) but could not figure out wher the frick to park.:headache:
Pain about the outlet but sounds like you had a good time and enjoy Bingo :rotfl:

Jo how are the pierced ears doing ?:confused3
They're fine, she's cleaning them twice a day and they don't hurt :thumbsup2

It was me but playing golf and the lady was OK today I think she was fed up with my nagging :rotfl2:

Golf was hot :faint: the temperature is in the 80's here so far too hot to walk around a golf course. We had fun though but didn't win a prize, thank god though as they sucked :rotfl2:

V- Sorry to hear about your neck. That is seriously one aweful pain to get rid of. How about going for a massage?

T- Hugs for good test results.

CE- You have one of my days today. ;) Have a great time. I hope the check up goes well and tell us what you decided to do about playgroup.

S'late- I really feel your pain. It is a terrible conundrum to be in. (we were recently posed with the very same thing...from a child psychologist).

Jo- Great to hear that the game went without annoyances. Hope you had a great time! And Hats off to Ellie on the ears! :thumbsup2 TINK just told me that she will NEVER get holes in her ears, cause they will hurt! :)

Angela- What are you reading? Anything good?

Debra- Have a good time at the Movie. Let us know what you see.

BTW... tomorrow is AMC $1 movie at 10am. Madagascar II is showing. Hope some of you have AMC's around you.

-----------------------------------------

I've been doing dishes and laundry, making beds and picking up junk that seems to accumulate all over the house... constantly.

DS is getting ready to head out to play at his buddies house... ahhhh peace and quiet! I'm going to put TINK down for a major nap... yippee!

My kids have been running around telling me how they have nothing to do.:confused3 TINK thinks she should have a playdate everyday! :scared1: I think they need to play by themselves a bit and enjoy the relaxation. :thumbsup2 (ya right).

 to everyone in the house. Sleep well, my dear. :goodvibes:
Wish Maddie could have read this... see below...
She was fine, the lady did 1 at a time too, but Ellie so wanted them done, she said it did hurt a bit but she wouldn't let on :
Too bad we aren't going to see you this summer. I would love for Els to tell Mads that it wasn't painful. ;)
Make sense? :rotfl2:
Perfect sense. :confused3 ;)
Just going to give this from the legal side...TELL! If she happened to send that to a wrong number and that number was a cop or other law enforcement person she could be arrested for transporting pornography.
Maybe that's just what this girl needs. A bit of a scare, KWIM? :thumbsup2
Sometimes you have to overlook costs to get what you want ::yes::
I'm going to ask if he can come down 5K.

Hi T!
So did you decide with the last kitchen bid?
Yuppers. Now I just have to decide if we want to start before vacation of after vacation. :scratchin:
When do you get the results? Good thoughts for them coming your way!
Thursday. I have the films here, but I can't read them.

I somehow managed to pinch something in my neck which is causing an insane amount of pain all over the left side of my head. I blame the Sadistic Wii Trainer. ;) I'm living on Advil and heat wraps at this point.
I've got an appointment with mine in about 10 mins. :teeth:

Nothing else new and exciting. Just counting the days till vacation. :rolleyes1
Ditto here, V!

I have a lot of soul searching to do.

I didn't sleep much last night.
You'll make the right decision, Slate.
I'll admit that I wondered if the parents would get mad at her for being the messenger.
I doubt it. I know if that was my daughter, I'd want to know.

I have about 10 minutes until my day goes nuts.
Holy crap! You're one busy momma today! Have fun! :thumbsup2
Hope everyone is having a wonderful day:goodvibes
Glad you had a good day, yesterday!

Have to see the surgeon today as the final check on that lump !!
Sending you good vibes, Rosie! :goodvibes

My kids have been running around telling me how they have nothing to do.:confused3 TINK thinks she should have a playdate everyday! :scared1: I think they need to play by themselves a bit and enjoy the relaxation. :thumbsup2 (ya right).

Did you read my FB? My kids are bored at 9am. Give me a break!

*******************************************

I'm off to workout. Gotta get into some sort of shape for vacation. I did get pretty tan, so my fat legs don't look so bad! :lmao:

Hi CE :wave2:. Do the boys have to have a physical every year for school? I can't find any info out on this and am trying to figure out if I should make Jimmy's appointment before school starts or not.

Our school doesn't require anything more until they need the DTaP booster at 11 or 12. Some of the camps/town sports require a new form every year, though. A couple of my friends at playgroup just said that their doctor wasn't scheduling a 7 year check up, but I had a few things, so I'm glad mine did. :thumbsup2

Hope everyone is having a wonderful day:goodvibes

You, too - glad you had a good day yesterday, and hope you kicked the butts that needed kicking. ;)

I think he is gonna say the same as everyone ele hough so I am not toooo worried !

Let us know.

It is really important that she does not send it to anyone, there are, um, trafficking laws that come into effect. (we have several attorneys in the family, I kind of pick up stuff).

Thanks. I think her plan was to call the parents, not send the picture on, but it's good to know.

I don't play much, if at all, over the summer because the kids are home and it's just hard to get my act together to find a doubles partner, and I hate mixed doubles (men don't behave on the tennis court), so I just get all rusty over the summer and then practice like crazy before fall season starts...

Jo already answered that it was her golf game, but I love tennis these days. I think I'm going on your plan over the summer though - I was playing 3 days a week at least all during the school year, but I don't want to overschedule the summer due to the boat. I'm scared about not playing all summer, though. :sad2: :rotfl:

We had fun though but didn't win a prize, thank god though as they sucked :rotfl2:

Great attitude! :rotfl2:

CE- You have one of my days today. ;) Have a great time. I hope the check up goes well and tell us what you decided to do about playgroup.

We went - more on that in a minute.

My kids have been running around telling me how they have nothing to do.:confused3 TINK thinks she should have a playdate everyday! :scared1: I think they need to play by themselves a bit and enjoy the relaxation. :thumbsup2 (ya right).

Wouldn't that be good?

Did you read my FB? My kids are bored at 9am. Give me a break!

I got that on the 2nd day. :sad2: To be fair, the weather has been SO carpy here that I don't really blame them, but still...

***************************************************
The doctor appointments went well. They are healthy, growing at a good steady rate, etc. No shots, thank goodness. We discussed Woody's hand-washing issue and got some good tips on that, plus a "we don't need to treat him for OCD" which I knew but have to convince my MIL.

It was done so fast that playgroup seemed reasonable. We were there for about an hour and a half, and it was really good to see everyone.

I left when I meant to leave - which is impressive :rotfl: - and we got home and I've gotten the dog out. We still have about a half hour before needing to head back to the gym.

D is back, but is doing computer work stuff. He is still planning on joining us at the club for dinner. :thumbsup2 He did say he might fall asleep in his dinner, so I might be around a lot tonight. :rotfl2:

The kids are getting some stuff ready to take with to have to play with during my class, which is kind of amusing. If I am playing inside, they'll have to go to the Junior Activities Room anyway, but whatever. They are packing a lot. :rotfl:

I'm going to make sure I have everything I need - hope the day continues to go well for everyone!

oh for the love of God I'm fighting with people on the community boards again.

It's such a bad habit, I really need to quit.

I've never had a smoking habit, I obviously have an arguing on the disboards habit.

When is Lent? I need to give it up.:rolleyes1

somebody slap me.

Pain about the outlet but sounds like you had a good time and enjoy Bingo :

We did. Thanks!

Golf was hot :faint: the temperature is in the 80's here so far too hot to walk around a golf course. We had fun though but didn't win a prize, thank god though as they sucked :rotfl2:

Positive attitude Jo:rolleyes:

I've been doing dishes and laundry, making beds and picking up junk that seems to accumulate all over the house... constantly.

Isn't it amazing all the carp you put away seemingly reappears moments later:headache:

Maybe that's just what this girl needs. A bit of a scare, KWIM? :thumbsup2

::yes::

I'm going to ask if he can come down 5K.

Can't hurt to ask. The worse he can do is say no right?

Yuppers. Now I just have to decide if we want to start before vacation of after vacation. :scratchin:

Too bad your whole family is going with you...you could have had it done while you were away.

:thumbsup2

That's odd. I thought they required yearly until age 13 or something like that?

You, too - glad you had a good day yesterday, and hope you kicked the butts that needed kicking. ;)

::yes:: Kicking butt always makes for a good day. Amazingly when I came in this morning and starting trying to roll head they are convinced they can be done by tomorrow afternoon:rolleyes:

=====================================

I was going to take Monday off but since mom is leaving early Monday morning I am going to work now. I did take Thursday off though. We got an email stating they wanted us to be here to take a picture for the newspaper becasue they are doing an article about or re-organization. Um, no I don't want my picture in the paper...there fore I'm taking Thursday off so they can't make me be in the picture:thumbsup2

Bright girl :rotfl2:

I agree, kids need to play alone and with siblings and not have friends round all the time!

Too bad we aren't going to see you this summer. I would love for Els to tell Mads that it wasn't painful. ;)
She would too but then Maddie would hate her when they did hurt :rotfl2:

Wow, how many days left????

Great attitude! :rotfl2:
I know :rotfl2: but seriously first prize was a mug :sad2:

Where's Kristel been???

Saw 2 traffic accidents today :sad2: the first one on the way to golf, not sure what happened but there was police and ambulance. The second was taking Ells to Ballet, the whole road was shut and the air ambulance (helicopter) was on the road, must have been bad :sad2: The road was still shut 2 hours later!!! Hope there's not a 3rd one!

That's silly, don't they do gifted and talented classes?

No, we have this thing here called No Child Left Behind which translates to no child is allowed to be too advanced.

On a serious note the surgeon wants to remove the lump due to my history of breast cancer although the sono/mammo were fine he doesn't want to take any chances !! It's an outpatient thingie and I'm not worried about it !! It's the waitingfor the labs to come back that scares the heck outta me !!
So Rosie needs some hugs !!:sad2:

KJJ - I read some CB threads, but stay the heck out of the fray; I get too worked up! For example...

So there's a thread on teh CB about someone's DS17 staying out until the wee hours of the morning. Not, apparently, a bad kid - just likes to be out late I guess. Anyway, most repsonders are appalled that a 17yo is allowed out that late. Which sort of blows my mind - given that I was working full time and living on my own at 17! I don't know how I'll feel when Leo's that age, but it seems so weird to me, given my own experiences.
