TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

My DS 14 saw his Neurologist this week too, and his ADHD medication was moved up a notch also. He saw his biggest weight gain in the past 6 months than in his entire life - he gained 10 pounds, and 1 1/2 inches. So are you ready - he is now 5 ft 1 1/2 inches and weighs 85 pounds. He is skinny - but I hate to say it - his clothes hang really well on him. Just like a model. LOL Doesn't take after me that's for sure.

DS9 is a little over 4 feet. One good thing is he loves skinny jeans and can really wear them well. Dh is 6 feet and maybe weighs 145 if he's lucky.

I'm not placing blame anywhere but on my lack of sleep this week. I'm not sure what the issue is but I am having trouble falling asleep and then staying asleep.

Have you tried Melatonin? I love it for those stressful times when I can't get my brain to shut down. Doesn't make me sleepy the next morning. Some people love it and for some it doesn't do a thing for them. You get it with the vitamins and things.

Hi TEAM DONALD from WDW where the weather is gorgeous today! princess: Had a great time this morning at the Princess Expo where I got to meet mikamah, Rose&Mike (both), mommyof2pirate, jenanderson and jbm02. People do notice you when you are wearing your WISH shirt! Can't wait to meet corinna and worfiedoodles later. :
How fun! :goodvibes It is so great to meet those you have gotten to know.

Evening friends. It has snowed ALL DAY here! ICKY! I didn't even bother to try to snowblow yet...

Question about hip pain for anyone who might feel qualified to answer....

I started having left hip pain early last week. It feels like mostly muscular pain, but in the hip joint area. It doesn't hurt when I run, but after sitting still (like driving or scrapbooking) it is really stiff and sore whenn I get up again. I iced it last night and I am icing it again tonight.... and I iced it while at school yesterday. I haven't resorted to any sort of pain pills yet... definitely not that bad... more annoying and disturbing than anything.

I don't have a bruise or any swelling and I don't remember any specific trauma to my hip. Any idea what I might be dealing with or how to take care of it?

Check out hip bursitis and see if your symptoms match. I had it about 15 years ago. I was fine when I was moving but to get up from sitting was horrible. I did PT and other stuff for awhile but it kept getting worse so I finally agreed to a cortisone shot :faint: and haven't had a problem since. Had to see an orthopedist for that. If you can tolerate anti inflammatories you might try a regular course of those for a few days to see if that helps.

We had a beautiful but windy day with temps in the 70s but tonight it dropped drastically and when we left the mall this evening it was in the 40s. :cold:

Stupid stomach is being cranky today. I am hungry but not feeling up to eating. bleh, I hate this. Didn't feel up to exercising because of it.

QOTD: why yes...my mood does effect my eating...so does my kids mood. when they are cranky, crabby, and at each other that stresses me...to the candy. didnt have that bad of a week...was hoping for better but will get a little more sleep this week, better eating, and maybe even a relaxing bath. Cant dream that much...got to make them within reach! good luck to all the "princesses" for the marathon!

Good morning Team Donald!
I will have to chatch up later:)
There was a slumber party last night 10 -12-14 YO Girls and I Am off to buy 2dozen donuts..
No I can't eat one..I so wish :)

But since it is Saturday I think we'll have a fun QOTD

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney Dessert or treat??
I love the Mickey bars :)

Here's a really great article about Chocolate

For years, you’ve tried to break it off. You’re certain this relationship is wrong, even sinful. But try as you might, you just can’t end it—your willpower inevitably crumbles, and you always go back for more.

We’re talking of course about your love affair with CHOCOLATE— that dark seducer even more likely to attract as you're surrounded by heart-shaped displays. Long thought to be an aphrodisiac, chocolate has been inextricably linked to Cupid and lovers since it was discovered among the ancient Aztecs and carried to the Old World.

But, whether you’re the giver or receiver, just how sinful is chocolate? The Aztecs and their neighbors, the Mayans, believed chocolate transmitted knowledge and power to those who consumed it. While there’s no evidence to support that idea, there is mounting evidence showing some health benefits to eating it in moderation. Studies have found that dark chocolate helps prevent heart disease and cancer, and has also been shown to improve mood by boosting the brain chemical serotonin. Some even consider chocolate an effective diet food, claiming that a chunk of chocolate before meals diminishes your appetite.
Chocolate contains a wide assortment of vitamins and minerals that the body needs, including potassium, sodium, iron, fluorine and vitamins A, B1, C, D, and E. In fact, researchers at Harvard University believe chocolate may help people live longer! A study tracking older men found that those who ate chocolate lived almost a year longer than those who didn't.

Researchers believe this has something to do with the fact that chocolate contains flavonoids(compounds that may lower the risk of cardiovascular disease and cancer while slowing the aging process) and stearic acid, a heart-friendly fatty acid that doesn’t promote cholesterol increases
More later about Chocolate :)
Have a great day Team Donald

Well first 5K is in the record book with 2 minutes below my goal of 40 min and I've signed up for my next 5K (Everest!)

Is it May yet ?!?

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney Dessert or treat?? Would have to say the Tie Dye cheesecake at Pop followed by a Disneyland Dole Whip (WDWs is somehow not the same)

:wave2: Still not feeling great and this is getting old fast. On the bright side if this continues I should be in ONEderland by mid week. Not the way I want to do it though.

Too much to do to sit around and complain though. DD10 is in a fashion show at the mall today so we have to get ready for that. I put on a shirt that I haven't been able to wear and it still seems a little tight but my husband and kids overruled me and said it looks great so I have to wear it. I figured if anyone would give me an honest opinion that I looked fat and awful it would be my 15 year old!

There is a male "beauty pageant" fundraiser at the high school that both of my girls want to go to. I guess the boys are going to be wearing evening gowns and doing all the traditional beauty pageant things so it should be quite funny. Not sure if they are doing swim suits though? I am trying to decide if I can trust my 15 year old to keep an eye on her sister and not get mean and snippy with her like she usually does. They want to go without me. I am just worried that DD15 will decide after she gets there that having your little sister around isn't nearly as much fun as it seems like it will be right now.
But since it is Saturday I think we'll have a fun QOTD

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney Dessert or treat??
Twinkie Tiramisu at Pop, but I think I heard they weren't selling that any more (but I have the recipe!). 2nd would be the Cheese Danish they serve at Pop.

Well first 5K is in the record book with 2 minutes below my goal of 40 min and I've signed up for my next 5K (Everest!)

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2: That is wonderful! Congratulations!

Good Morning Team Donald.

Sorry I am late. I slept in (7 is late for me) and then I went for some blood tests for a checkup I am having the middle of next week. After I finally got to eat breakfast dh had jumped on my laptop. He just got off and left to run some errands. I don't have a lot of time. I need to get to the fabric shop to pick some things up, the pharmacy to pick up some prescriptions and to the local high school to work on costumes.

I don't think we really know where we are with costumes until tomorrow and the first dress rehersal. I got to see some of the show last night and they sound wonderful. The harmony is great. I was impressed with the dancing.

the seats are in the theater and the lights are just about up so it should be a go for next weekend. They haven't pushed the publicity too much so I think that the first weekend should be light but I think the second weekend word of mouth will get out.

Disneyland_emily congrats on your first 5k. If I lived that close to Dw I would do some. They seem like fun.

lovetoscrap Hope you feel better

pudge the fish thanks for being in charge of the questions this week.

QOTD I love Mickey Bars, pineapple bars, frozen bananas and dole whips. Can you telll I can't wait until summer and eat these frozen treats.

yrdlyprincess I think sleep has a great deal to do with how you do on your weight loss journey.

BernardandMissBianca My ds2 is almost 6 ft and weighs about 150. He had to be 135 to go to Boy Scout Philmont camp. He just made it but lost about 10 lbs on that trip since it is a 10 day backpacking trip.

pjlla do you have any swim meets this weekend? Sorry to hear about your hip.

buzz5985 My ds2 is very thin and wears clothes well. Ds1 is chunky and has trouble finding thing fit him properly.

Off to get some things done. Have a great Saturday.

Have a happy and healthy day.

So the QOTD is does YOUR mood affect your eating habits?

More than anything else. I really noticed that off the pill—now that I’m back on it though it’s like nothing really fazes my appetite. Well, instead of not eating when stressed, anxious, depressed whatever—I will probably eat now…Maybe just knowing the difference will help. It was nice getting back in touch with my natural self for a few years sigh...

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney Dessert or treat??
Pommes Frites at New Orleans Café.

Sorry I didn't post yesterday, I had spilled soy milk all over my keyboard the day before and yesterday it had all dried and was definitely fried. Had to cut and pste my weight to the keeper lol. Thanks for a tolerant week of coaching--it was fun.:cutie:

QOTD: What is your favorite Disney Dessert or treat??

Dole whips and rice krispy treats. Can't eat them at home but something about mickey shaped rice krispies, oh it just rocks!!

Got to tally my weigh in officially but I'm up 1 pound. I knew I'd be up since I really fell off the wagon this week but 1 pound is not as bad as I thought it would be.
It's been a high stress week between the Ultrasound, DS9 being home all week, and now DD's tooth hurts.
And DH didn't come home again, this is like the 3rd weekend in a row. But he did finally get the go ahead to hire someone!! :woohoo: The new guy will start April 1, which will take some of the pressure off DH.

Hi Everyone! Sorry I have been MIA this week. The week just flew by & I don't even know where it went!!

Anyway, I stayed the same this week, so no loss to help our team.

I had a crazy week of meetings & errands and a DH home sick, all culminating in a fundraising dinner/casino night /tricky tray for our school's PTA. I didn't make all the best eating choices this week, and ate a bit too much heavy food & dessert at our event, but I did win a basket......with a 3 month membership to Work Out World inside it!! I guess the Universe was sending me a message to get back on track ASAP :rotfl2:

Anyway, I hope everyone had a great week! I didn't go reading back too far, but I noticed 2 QOTD

1 about mood affecting my eating & the answer is yes, but I am working on it!

2 favorite dessert in WDW & I have to say I love the Mickey Ice Cream bars. They say Disney to me

Have a great week! I will try to check in more this week!!

I got new awesome shoes and it does make a difference in training

we are dealing with a really difficult family situation , lawyers and courts and it takes up a lot of time. I haven't been exercising like I should be but I haven't given up and will keep on even if it's a little here and there.

we decided 5 minutes ago to head over to WDW tomorrow and have a calm family day. not sure what park yet But DD wants to go to the Studios and I want to go to Epcot ,so we may do both :)
so I am going to find a QOTD and post very early :) tomorrow.

DD is Snow White in the school play so I need to find her a not trashy tween snow white costume.... if anyone has any ideas let me know!

Good Morning Team Donald!!

we are almost out the door for our family day. I hope everyone will have a great day.

I always want to snack while at WDW even if I am not hungry- I thought this quiz would be fun for today.
here is the link in case anyone wants to take the whole quiz :)

http://www.sparkpeople.com/resource/assessment_questions.asp?quizid=70

do the QOTD is what kind of snacker are you?

Afternoon hunger pangs hit. What do you do?

Try my best to ignore them until dinner--I don't want to go over my daily calorie goal!
Open up my snack drawer and choose from the healthful, pre-portioned items that I stash for just this occasion.
Head for the vending machine and choose something that'll fill me up fast.
Eat something portion controlled, like a 100-calorie snack pack.
Drink something and see how I feel later.

It's 8 p.m. and your stomach is growling. How do you cope?

Drink some water or herbal tea first, then decide if I'm still hungry enough to eat.
Ignore it. Eating calories that late will just turn into fat!
Eat my planned evening snack before bed.
Ravage the cupboards. I worked hard at the gym today; my body needs those extra calories.

How often are you distracted by work, conversations, children, etc. while snacking?

Often. I'm a master multi-tasker.
On occasion when I'm very busy.
Rarely. I try to prepare my snacks beforehand and eat when distractions aren't present.

I usually have the urge to snack when:

I see or smell food or am offered something to eat.
I feel hungry.
I feel stressed, bored, anxious, or upset.
I'm doing other things like watching TV or using the computer.

Where do you usually eat your snacks?

At the kitchen table or break room table at work.
In front of the television, reading in bed, at my desk or driving in my car.
Sometimes I snack somewhere quiet and other times I snack while doing other things.

When you crave something sweet, what do you usually do?

Nothing. I don't eat sugary foods.
Go for a piece of fresh fruit.
Chew on a piece of fruity, sugar-free gum.
Search for candy, cookies, chocolate--anything to satisfy my sweet tooth!

I hope everyone has a great day!!

Hand isn't better, but no worse. Will try to hold off seeing doctor until regular office hours tomorrow. Going to church this morn, despite snow falling heavily.

Today's exercise will need to be the "still" static kind like wall sits and planks...hip is still sore and can't lift with R hand......not sure I can even scrapbook today with this bum hand!! :scared1:

do the QOTD is what kind of snacker are you?

I'm the " lose control when I'm tired" kind of snacker. Other than that I can plan my snacks pretty well.

Pudge.....have a great relaxing family day at WDW today!.....P

We really liked the hotel, the location was perfect and the staff was very nice. It was a very small hotel in the Rue Cler area. We never did stop for crepes but I thought about your Nutella/Banana/Grand Marnier crepe! We did have the french toast and hot chocolate at Laduree's Sunday morning - heavenly!

Mmmm... Laduree is so yummy. Those macaroons are addicting!

TEAM DONALD won for the week and reached 502 pounds for the challenge!!!

Great job Donalds :thumbsup2 Nice work DisFam95 :cool1:

Thanks so much for all the well wishes. It really means a lot to me, and I know without all the love, support, advice, hugs and inspiration I have gotten from all of you here I would not be doing a half marathon. Thanks for being there. You are all amazing friends.

Happy belated Birthday :cheer2: I hope you're having an awesome time in WDW! I can't wait to hear all about it.

Sue, hope you got your Palo, but if you didn't, I've never had any problems getting them onboard the first day for the time I wanted. We are only Silver CC also but I think 2 more cruises and we are gold!

dvccruiser Did you get Palo?

Hoping that you got your reservations last night, Sue! :thumbsup2

So, tax season has my brain all out of sorts. I'm a crazy planner, actually booked my cruise for May 2011 in November 2009. Somehow, I mixed up my booking window by one day and was late to book Palo. I was so mad at myself all day. I did manage to get Palo dinner, but not brunch. Apparently someone else on my cruise meet boards posted that they logged on at 12:03 and brunch was already gone, so I felt a little bit better. I plan on being in line like SettinSail suggested, so hopefully I'll grab a brunch spot when we board. Only 7 more weeks of tax season to go!

However, my darn left eye has been twitching for the last week and a half. Darn stress :headache:

On a non-work note, DH and I are heading into Boston in a half hour to see Mary Poppins and grab lunch. Yay for dates :cool1: DS is spending the afternoon with my mother.

do the QOTD is what kind of snacker are you?

Afternoon hunger pangs hit. What do you do?
Try and eat a small amount of whatever it is I want.

It's 8 p.m. and your stomach is growling. How do you cope?
Glass of wine and small snack.

How often are you distracted by work, conversations, children, etc. while snacking?
Never

I usually have the urge to snack when:
I’m hungry. I would say the stress factor has done the opposite to me in the last 4-5 months –I don’t eat then.

Where do you usually eat your snacks?
In front of the tv. That’s not going to change in spite of every well meaning persons opinion of it.

When you crave something sweet, what do you usually do?
Have a little of whatever is around that sounds the best.

I would get it checked out if it doesn't get better. if things hurt it can't be good.

I got new awesome shoes and it does make a difference in training

we are dealing with a really difficult family situation , lawyers and courts and it takes up a lot of time. I haven't been exercising like I should be but I haven't given up and will keep on even if it's a little here and there.

I hope your family stuff gets squared away soon!
enjoy your day at EPCOT!!
OH how I wished I lived close enough to pop over the WDW!!!

QOTD:
What kind of snacker are you?

OY I took the Test!!

I'm a Sinful Snacker

Oh that's bad!!!!!!!!! I feel so guilty!
We're sorry, but most of your snacking habits aren't the smartest. For you, snacking is an afterthought. You tend to eat convenience foods, tempt yourself with a pantry full of poor choices, and snack on the wrong things at the wrong times--if you even snack at all! Eating something you are hungry for is one thing, but waiting until you are ravenous or ignoring your hunger altogether can be bad news. A good way to start becoming a sensible snacker is to rid your home of toxic treats by giving your kitchen a makeover. Keep in mind that you don't have to forgo your favorite treats altogether or feel guilty for indulging once in a while. Remember—moderation is key to living a healthy lifestyle. Start here to get started with some healthy snacking habits.

:wave2: DH has been in a "Honey-Do" mood today so I have been trying to get all those little jobs done that I need him for. Finally have the curtains hung in my kitchen.

I took the QOTD quiz 2x. Once to reflect my current situation and once for before. As could be predicted I got "Sinful Snacker" for how I was before the last few months. I was pleasantly surprised to get "Smart Snacker" for my current situation.:yay:

Stomach is doing a little better today. I have a bunch of stuff going on this week so need to do some meal planning today, and clean the refrigerator. I just transferred a bunch of veggies to 'green bags". It is very frustrating because we can get them in bulk at Costco for about the same price as one serving at the grocery store. But we also can't use all that in time so we end up throwing a lot of it out. I like to have an assortment of veggies, not just buy one big bag of something and eat only that for a week.

Pjila: hope your hand gets to feeling better quick.
