TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Drive-by post because I am totally beat tonight and am heading up to bed as soon as I hit "submit"... (is there a smiley for a yawn???)

I wish I could access this site at work but it's probably not a good idea...so I had lots to catch up on. And all but one of my multi-posts disappeared! Grrrr - I can't remember everything I wanted to say...:rotfl2:

Today was the start of my next session of my AM boot camp class. It was "assessment day". So it was a quick class. Luckily, there is also a Y in my building so I was able to get a treadmill run in during lunchtime. (I am NOT a cold weather runner - hence, the TM!!!) Now I just have to keep this schedule up.

So do I! My town is less than 20 min. from Mass. :cool1:

Now, I'm off to continue reading. I really have to budget more time to catch up on threads. Work isn't that busy this week, but there's always something else to do. Today, I had to stop 2 different CVSs to find what I needed. (CVSing is my hobby. :rotfl2:) Then, I had to go back later because I needed an Rx refill. I really need to stay on top of that too. :rolleyes1

Hope everyone is doing well! Can't wait to see those Healthy Habits points rolling in on Friday! :goodvibes

CC

...kinda close to MA. About 30 minutes from the MA border on the NY side. And, after attending college in RI, practically everyone there was from MA - so I recognized every town/city name that was posted!

Tonight was a night for playing taxi to DD11 and DS15 DH had meetings at school - what timing!) - pick up DD from middle school, drop off DS's dinner at theater rehearsal, take DD to ice skating class, rush home once we got to the rink when she realized she left her skates next to the door and NOT in the car, back to rink, back home after 1 hour, catch up on DIS for the last 30 minutes! :goodvibes So now I am officially going to collapse in my comfy bed.
'night all!!!

Been doing well all day with diet. Finished day 3 with no Coca-Colas and I have a killer headache. Anyone else experience this kind of side effect after quiting sodas? I can't drink the diet stuff. It affects my stomach.

Doing well with water and an 8 oz glass of milk a day.

I got my workout in late, but I got it in.:cool1:

Caffeine withdrawals are nasty!

I had that issue hence why I decided for me going cold turkey wasn't an option.. I'm down to 8-16 oz of "juice" (Diet Mt Dew) a day aka 1 2 ltr a week which is far down from my old habit of 3-4 2 ltrs a week plus 2-3 cans of diet coke a day at work...

I look at it as my one vice I allow myself to have.. One day about a week ago I stopped to get a drink and without thinking got a 32 oz.. 12 hrs later ended up throwing most of it away as I didn't drink it.. Small steps :)

setting sail Hope you have a safe trip back. I know how you don't want to go. How mush longer will you be over there?

18 months to go:woohoo:

Just dropping in to say hello to my Donald friends! I miss you all terribly!!!!!:sad1::grouphug: We got home last night, and I caught up my Mickey thread, but want to come read over here to catch up with you guys!!!!!!!

Good luck to everyone on team Donald!

Love you guys!
Taryn

Hi Taryn:wave2: I know you had a great time at HHI! I need to go over to the Mickey thread to read about your trippopcorn:: Hope all is well:goodvibes

Not to sound smart alec but does going up and down the stairs taking care of a sick 10 year old and DH count for my exercise today.......

Of course it does:goodvibes

Hi friends!! For those of you who have followed my DH's situation, we had a good day... he got his jaw unwired!! He can eat real food!

:cool1: What did he want for his first meal? .........back away from the cookie doughpirate:

Happy Monday, Team :donald:

I've been watching what I eat today and I did my EA Sports Active or whatever it's called. I'm going to look into getting the Active 2.

Has anyone ever done C25K on a treadmill? Is it more trouble to do it on a treadmill than it's worth? :confused3

I've done C25K a few days here and there on the treadmill and thought it was lots easier than running outside....climate controlled, no hills unless you want an incline, no wind, no dogs, no one looking at you, etc! I really wish I had a treadmill, can you tell?:rotfl:

CC

Hi CC:wave2: I've got all the HH points for the first 2 days so far:yay:
Thanks for being our HH coach for this challenge....I've been trying to get my 2 sisters to do them too. Surprisingly, they both said no way could they drink the water but they would do the others...I think the water is the easiest:wizard:

Thanks to all who offered me encouragement. I did 12 minutes tonight so I am going to try and add a couple of minutes each day to work up to 30-45 minutes. This is going to be a long haul.

:woohoo: You can do it !!! Put on some good music or watch TV or just daydream about smaller clothes and the minutes will fly by:goodvibes

Headaches are a common side affect with caffeine withdrawl. When I quit sodas, I gradually decreased the amount I drank each day until it was only 1/4 cup per day for a week. After that, none. Doing it this way I avoided the headaches. Hang in there, you can do it:goodvibes

I had lunch with another group of friends today and tomorrow I am doing the same. I enjoyed the restaurant I went to lunch at Sunday so much, I took DH back down there tonight. We both loved it. Bobby Flay has done a throwdown with the owner/pitmaster--OK, it's a barbeque place, shhhh don't tell anyone:guilty: DS is at a sleepover tonight. DH and I shopped at Bed, Bath & Beyond and B&N after dinner out. I had some great coupons and gift cards to use:banana:

Hope you've all had a great day! Go Team Donald!:donald:

I realize I didn't do much of an introduction yesterday when I posted, so I suppose I'll catch that up now...

HI! I'm a 30 year old single parent/teacher who needs to lose at least 80 pounds. (Really...probably 100, but I think I'll be happy with 80. Actually...to start, I'd definitely be happy with 50...) I have Hashimoto's Thyroiditis, which doesn't help very much in the weight-loss department.

My DD is 6 and extremely active. It is very easy to get tired just watching her run around (and around and around and around....) I've got her in 3 dance classes (tap, ballet, and clogging) plus cheernatics, and it doesn't slow her down at all. She started saying she doesn't want to "have a big tummy like you Mommy", and, of course, that makes me sad. So, it's definitely time to get my act together and try to shed some weight!

After she was born, I did a 1500 calorie per day plan and lost all the baby weight (I gained over 40 pounds with her!) I was maintaining that just fine and had even got to where I was exercising daily (even kept it up on vacation!). Then the Hashimoto's kicked in, and I felt awful for months. I haven't been able to get into another exercise routine since, and it's been 5 years now!

This time, I'm counting calories again. It's the easiest thing for me to do (and the only thing that seems to work). That, plus exercise, but I'm having to start slow. Today, I stepped for 5 minutes this morning and 5 minutes this evening. (It's a start...) Amazon has My Weight Loss Coach for the DS for just under $9, so it arrived today. The first thing it tells you to do is drink a big glass of water. Then you put on the pedometer and walk 50 steps (make sure it's working), then walk 500 steps. Then accept a minute physical challenge (I took stand up and sit down 10 times.) It helps you track your weight and your calories (telling you how many calories you need to consume for a healthy weight loss. It didn't like me consuming 1400 calories -- says I need to eat 2250 per day right now!) You can plug the pedometer into the DS to record your steps, too. OH, and it gives food challenges (like don't add salt to your food for 24 hours, which should be easy, since I don't do that anyway) and another type of challenge. It's really kind of neat; does anyone else have it?

I would also like to note that I've put $20 in a jar and will add $1 for each pound lost until the end of the challenge. It might make for a nice Disney prize this summer....or maybe at least a new outfit....

oh boy just got done with Jillian's 30 day shred. My legs are jello. I have some weird twinges/pains under my right rib cage I could do the bicycle crunches at the end without shooting pains.

I have Jillian's 30 Day Shred. I think I've done it twice since I got it, and got through the first set of circuits before I had to be peeled off the floor.

Been doing well all day with diet. Finished day 3 with no Coca-Colas and I have a killer headache. Anyone else experience this kind of side effect after quiting sodas?

Yes! Quitting caffeine is HARD! But, if you can get through the first few days, the headaches will go away.

Hi friends!! For those of you who have followed my DH's situation, we had a good day... he got his jaw unwired!! He can eat real food! (The stinker has lost almost 50 pounds!!:headache: Just not the way any of us would like to do it!)
WOOOHOOO!!!!!!!!! So glad he is unwired now!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't believe he's lost 50 pounds since Thanksgiving! WOW! So right, NOT the way you want to do it! Soo happy for you guys!

Hello Taryn!! Does this mean you're back so I can hop over and catch up on the mickey thread with your clif notes version? Hope your trip was fabulous.
Hey hon! I learned from the Master. ;) I tried to catch up this am, it was a chore!:lmao: If you win the mega millions, you will share, won't you?

We do seem to have a ton of Mass/NH/RI people.

I would love to try an organize something for maybe midway challenge?

If you would like heck PM me - town & state - let's see if we can find a location central. We can then work on maybe day, time etc...

Again I live Marshfield, date Salem, work Boston - yeah sometimes all in one day. LOL So I have no aversion to driving, as you can guess.

You're on Team Mickey :sad2:

I think i want a crying smilie;)

I'll have to sneak over there if I can find my way through all the posts:lmao:

So team Donald, does this mean I am the only VA stater here? I'm seeing all the NE people and I'm feeling lonely knowing Taryn is on the other team:rolleyes1

I lived in Scituate for 10 years. :yay: I remember going to the Marshfield fair every year with my Dad. We would go bet on the horses, well he did, I was underage. :rolleyes1:rolleyes1

Awesome:cool1:

But it now seems I've acquired a new identity. How did that happen:rotfl2::lmao:

LOL! I have no idea! I may have had another post quoted also and wasn't paying attention when I deleted the other parts!

Well, its a theory:rotfl2:

Personally, I think Karliebug should post again and get quoted and we'll see if she becomes me:idea:

Hi Everyone!

I'm new to Team Donald! I'm Nancy from Burbank, CA and I podcast for the DIS as a Disneyland Correspondent. I also write for the blog and such. I've walked the Disneyland 5K Family Fun Run for the last 2 years but am by no means any sort of athelete.

I'm hoping to lose a few pounds and tone up before our next DIS Podcast Cruise on the Dream in June of 2012. I am 44, mom to two active little girls, about 25 pounds heavier than I really want to be (that is a reasonable goal), and completely horrible at sticking to any kind of plan, so I'm hoping maybe I can get some motivation and direction.

Thanks in advance for letting me onto the team!

Hey Donald peeps. I shoulda posted earlier on this thread, but I've been a little busy. School started today. So I was busy with that.

I did a 5K on New Year's Day and I jogged the WHOLE THING! First time since my bilateral adrenalectomy 7.5 months ago that I have "run" (at my turtely speed... the power walkers were passing me at the finish... :rolleyes1 ) 3 miles! So I'm pretty stoked about that. Walked 3 miles or so with my mom and the dogs today.

Trying really hard not to get the bacterial pneumonia floating around here. Aye Carumba! Seems like everyone has it and I haven't been feeling that great, so looks like it's probably off to the doc tomorrow. Sigh. Being powered by steroids is so much fun this time of year! :sad2:

Today at school this girl was telling everyone in class how she was in the ER all night and had the EKG things stuck all over her and she couldn't get them off. :rotfl2: Seriously? Grab and pull. It's not difficult... She can't figure that out, but she can figure out British lit? I just don't get it...

Oh yeah, I'm from Washington State, so I guess I'm probably the only Washingtonian... (Yes, that's State, not D.C. thank you very much!)

Hi Nancy - :wave2: I think I remember you from the DL boards when I was planning our trip there two years ago!! We loved that trip :cloud9:

I got in a yoga class this morning and am planning on going to either a cable class or water aerobics class tomorrow night. Was busy with homework tonight and didn't do so well on the eating of veggies for the HH.

See ya all tomorrow!

Mary

Good Tuesday Morning everyone.

I forgot to post a question of the day yesterday. I better post today's so I don't forget.

Question of the Day

If you have just one day at DW which park would you want to see? Or would you hop to do your favorites?

Welcome Nancy This group has been moving pretty fast.

I got 20 minutes in this morning. I worked on my knee. I found some strengthening exercises and did then to help my knee. I hurt my knee at the beginning of Nov. It got really bad about Thanksgiving. In Dec I went to an ortho (hard to find one who accepts my insurance) and had an MRI. By the time I got back to the dr it was feeling better but the news was not good. Torn meniscus, which is what he guessed, torn cartiledge, a stress fracture and arthritis. My question is "What else could go wrong?" I am on a wait and see attitude. He has not given me a brace since I am walking okay. Since the pain was lessening he did not recommend PT. I was surprised how good it felt yesterday since I was back to work. I am hoping that it is healing and by losing weight it should help.

I have to go and get ready for work. Will check in when I get home. \

Have a happy and healthy day.

Thanks for jumping in and helping, Heather! :flower3: Have you considered coaching for a week? It's a lot of fun! :goodvibes

I would be happy to, but it will have to wait until I see what my schedule will look like this semester - I start next week so I'll find out soon. :)

Please do not get discouraged. When I started I was 347 lbs, and could only do 5 or 6 minutes at like a 1.0. A year later I was running at a 11 min pace - YOU CAN DO IT!!!

I would love to know how you built up to running. I weight a bit more than you did (382 at the beginning weigh in) and would love to run someday, but I don't feel like I know how to build up to it. Any tips?

Oh and I gotta know how that Epic Mickey is? What exactly is it like? I meant to look up videos on youtube to see what its all about since it sounds interesting. I really wanna get a Wii this year. I'm still on my old school Gamecube.

Epic Mickey is the reason I bought a Wii since I had heard such good things about it, and every bit of it was true! I am addicted! I haven't had enough time to play it so I haven't gotten all that far, but I was sold when I saw the version of It's a Small World where you have to jump through the backed up boats. It is SO much fun for a theme park fan like myself.

I only got about 4 hours of sleep night before last so I fell asleep before I could do the QOTD for yesterday, so I'm off to find it and get that taken care of!

Heather

Your headache is probably from caffine withdrawl and is very common. You should probably try to cut down more slowly rather than cold turkey.

QOTD: I would spend my day park hopping for sure, starting at what ever park had early hours and ending at the EMH park for the evening hours. I would hit my favorites at each park and high tail it out of there to the next park.
