TEAM DONALD--Biggest Loser 11 Spring Team Challenge

Not a lot of time to post right now, so this will be quick....

Yes, we leave on Thursday!! You will hear me kicking and screaming all up and down the East Coast and across the Atlantic probably! I don't want to leave!

Hi Kim! You are doing so well! It's wonderful that you are loving the gym so much!

Maureen, I know you are glad the Holiday season is over!!! Good luck on your job search!

Yes it is !!!

Hi Pamela! Hope DH is doing well!

Hi Shannon! Love your family picture! Back to back cruises - I'm jealous!

Hi Rose! I need to pop over to Team Mickey and catch up there too!

Don't give up!!! When I first got my elliptical I could only do 20 minutes and it just about KILLED me! Hang in there and you will build up your strength and surprise yourself. Don't quit!!! Do you listen to music while you do it? That really motivates me

Can you do some needlework or something to occupy your hands? How about chewing gum? The new dessert flavors are really good I think. Get the whole family involved - "you guys say something if you see Mommy eating after dinner" or you have to do something silly if they catch you eating. What you are really trying to do is break the habit and they say it takes (x) amount of days to break a habit. Do something extreme to remind yourself the first week or so and you will slowly get used to it....lock the kitchen door, go to bed at 8:00, anything to get through the first few days.

Have a great day Team Donald!

Shawnprincess:
knitting seems to work for me, although I haven't done it in awhile. can knit watch TV,but not eat at the same time.

Hi,

I just found this thread last night and got assigned to Team Donald this morning. A little bit about me:

I'm 48 and married to my HS sweety for 26 years. We have two boys, 23 and 21. About 5 years ago I hit my alltime high weight and using WW lost 50lbs. I still had a long way to go, but got cocky and lazy and hovered within 5 -10 lbs of that weight. Last year I joined a WISH tread and was able to drop into the 100s. We went on vacation in October and then since then the constant eating has put back 8 lbs. I promissed myself that I would never go over 200 again and here I back on the bad side of the 2s.

I'm back to posting on my other tread, but thought that if I were accountable to two threads (and this one is so active that it takes awhile to catch up on all the posts) hopefully I'll be able to get my motivation back and not only get down to the 100s but actually break the barrier and start to get to my goal weight.

My goal for this challenge is 20lbs. I figure 1 lb a week is doable. The hardest part for me is the exercise. I really don't like anything that I've tried so far. I was thinking about starting to train for the DL half marathon in September. I'm going to read up on the C25K as a jump start.

Hobbies - I used to do cross stitch, stained glass and sewing. Lately, its been TV and couch sitting.

I'm looking forward to getting to know everyone. Now off to eat some breakfast and run errands.

Not to sound smart alec but does going up and down the stairs taking care of a sick 10 year old and DH count for my exercise today.......sorry but they're driving me crazy one is down in the family room complaining that he feels so tired and his cough is driving him crazy while the other one is yelling from her room saying that her head aches and is hot/cold.....

I think that I've gone up/down about 50 times since 8 am this morning!!!!

Sorry I just need to vent, otherwise I've been doing good dietwise, need to drink more water but now that I'm out of Diet Coke that shouldn't be a problem.

Hi to anyone that I missed.

School wasn't bad too bad consisdering that most of the kids got snowbound last week. I have a lot of paperwork to finish tomorrow but I should be able to do it.

I did about 20 minutes of yoga this morning and my knee did not hurt. Hope to increase it again tomorrow morning. Also made sure that I walked as much as possible today at school. Food hasn't been too bad but I need to get in some more veggies.

Have a happy and healthy afternoon.

Did I miss the QOTD posted somewhere for today?

I would count it! :thumbsup2

I guess I'm about to have a new hobby -- once we get settled after WDW we're going to get 2 kittens. :cat:

Thank you so much! I am really looking forward to it. It's going to be warmer and more comfortable than last year, and I'm feeling healthy and optimistic!
I am looking forward to "representing" at the Donald, I'll have my lime green WISH shirt on, hopefully this year it will be warm enough people will be able to see it -- i.e. it won't be covered in other layers! :goodvibes
So exciting to be getting two kitties. My sister got a new kitty for christmas, and ds wants one so bad but he's allergic. Good luck at the donald this weekend!!! And have a fabulous trip!!!!

Last year I joined a WISH tread and was able to drop into the 100s. We went on vacation in October and then since then the constant eating has put back 8 lbs. I promissed myself that I would never go over 200 again and here I back on the bad side of the 2s.

. I'm going to read up on the C25K as a jump start.
I am in the same spot with the weight, but determined to get back under 200 again, and stay there this time. C25k is a fabulous program. I did it last spring, and kept up with it and will be doing the princess half this year. I loved that it was just 3 days a week, and it encouraged you not to overdo it. Have you ever run before? I hadn't and was surprised how much I enjoy it. I do run/walk intervals now, but the fact that I run at all was a miracle, and c25k really made me do it. THe disneyland half is a great goal to get you moving.

Not to sound smart alec but does going up and down the stairs taking care of a sick 10 year old and DH count for my exercise today.......sorry but they're driving me crazy one is down in the family room complaining that he feels so tired and his cough is driving him crazy while the other one is yelling from her room saying that her head aches and is hot/cold.
Sorry your family is sick. Hope they are feeling better and stair climbing definitely counts in my book.

I did about 20 minutes of yoga this morning and my knee did not hurt. Hope to increase it again tomorrow morning.
So glad the knee is feeling better and you were able to do your yoga.

Taryn
Hello Taryn!! Does this mean you're back so I can hop over and catch up on the mickey thread with your clif notes version? Hope your trip was fabulous.

:Thanks for jumping in and helping, Heather! :flower3: Have you considered coaching for a week? It's a lot of fun!
Lisa, you're such a good coach recruiter. ;)

I joined Sparkpeople last week and have noticed that a big amount of my calories come after 9:00 at night, when the kids are in bed and I can finally sit and relax. Does anyone have any suggestions on what they do? Or low-cal snacks?
I like to have an evening snack planned, or have a hot cup of tea or ff hot cocoa. Diet pudding, or a ww ice cream bar are good sweets if you like sweets. I tend to want snacky foods at night, and the fruit isn't usually what I am craving. Do you eat a good size dinner or are you hungry in the evening? I know my evening eating is not always hunger related.

I have lurked for a long time on the disboards, but I have never done a group like this before to lose weight, but I am looking forward to it. Thought I might try the measurements as well, because I haven't done that before.
Welcome. These challenges have been such a big source of motivation and inspiration to me. Team Donald is going to be big losers this spring!!

dvccruiser - My BF is in Salem, MA so I am NS all the time! I would love a MA/NH meet.
Looks like lots of ma/nh members here. We'll definitely have to plan a get together.

Yes, we leave on Thursday!! You will hear me kicking and screaming all up and down the East Coast and across the Atlantic probably! I don't want to leave!
 Hope you enjoy every last minute you have here.

Dona--I am lurking on your thread.;) I don't have time to read it all, so someone needs to tell me if something important or exciting happens!
Hello Rose! We'll keep you posted.

Murphy's Law: The day you realize your washing machine may have a leak so you can't use it is the the same one that will have a child throwing up at 2am. School started back today but she is home on the couch sipping ginger ale.

DH is off work until tomorrow and we had grand plans to go to the grocery store together and look for healthy foods and what we need for the menu I made. Yep, we are so lame that grocery shopping together is like a huge date! Obviously that won't happen this morning, but we may go later when my older DD gets home from school since she can stay with her sister as long as she is feeling okay. Of course I am pretty sure at this point that my weight loss may get a huge jump start later this week when whatever bug she has hits me since I slept with her last night. :
Hope dd is feeling better soon and the rest of you don't get it. So much going around these days.

oh boy just got done with Jillian's 30 day shred. My legs are jello. I have some weird twinges/pains under my right rib cage I could do the bicycle crunches at the end without shooting pains. I know its not my gallbladder because that was removed last March. Maybe something is filling in the spot and not comfortable there.
:worship:That's a tough workout. I leant my dvd to my sister and never got it back, but remember it was so hard. I hope you're just sore and nothing serious going on.

I promise I'm not crashing your party over here!

If you haven't PMed me your weight, please do so by 7:30pm tonight! I'm going to be inserting all of the weights into the spreadsheet tonight and tomorrow night and post some statistics when I'm all done with that.

TTFN :tigger: (your weightkeeper)
Hello tracey! Thanks for being weightkeeper. It's looking like a big group here.

I did my 2 miles this morning, and it felt good. I'm going to check out a local gym who is having a special no joining fee and 29.99 a month. With ds home from school and the snow, I hadn't been able to get my run/walks in as my training for the princess. It's nice to be back to work just to have some routine back. But I'm still hoping to hit mega millions tomorrow so I can quit.

Have a nice evening.

Hi there Team Donald!

My name is Shannon. I'm married with 2DD's. I work full time, just switched to a new career in accounting last fall and am busy taking courses to get certified. I live in Beautiful British Columbia Canada, and am excited to be going on a cruise this spring to bring the Wonder to Canada and then staying on to go up to Alaska!

My goals for January are to get back on track with less junk food, more exercising and being an active participant in the thread.

Happy Belated Birthday to Tarheel618!!!:banana::cool1::banana:

We followed our tradition of staying home, having snacks and playing board games. And we watch the countdown on the Seattle TV station and see the fireworks and then we get a family picture with the fireworks in the background.
011332.jpg

I have lots of hobbies but unfortunately not enough time for them all. The most active one is boardgames. DH has turned me into a boardgamegeek. Our collection of games is over 200 and its my main hobby as its something DH and I can do together and also do as a family. When its not winter, we also do geocaching :goodvibes:. As an individual I love reading, enjoy needlework of all sorts (knitting, crocheting, cross-stitch, and sewing)

Thanks Dona for leading the team and taking on week 1 for coaching. I'll check my schedule for my course and then sign up for a coaching week.

Thanks to Connie and CC for doing the WIN and HH. And thanks to Rose for keeping the whole challenge organized!

Shannon!! It is so nice to see you here!! And I love the picture. I hope all is going well with the new job and new house!

I promise I'm not crashing your party over here!

If you haven't PMed me your weight, please do so by 7:30pm tonight! I'm going to be inserting all of the weights into the spreadsheet tonight and tomorrow night and post some statistics when I'm all done with that.

Better late than never, but it's done! Sorry to be so tardy about it.

Just dropping in to say hello to my Donald friends! I miss you all terribly!!!!!:sad1::grouphug: We got home last night, and I caught up my Mickey thread, but want to come read over here to catch up with you guys!!!!!!! :grouphug: Seriously want a temper tantrum smilie right now!

Good luck to everyone on team Donald!

Love you guys!
Taryn

Love you too!!!

Hi friends!! For those of you who have followed my DH's situation, we had a good day... he got his jaw unwired!! He can eat real food! (The stinker has lost almost 50 pounds!!:headache: Just not the way any of us would like to do it!) He is going to the orthopedist tomorrow... prayers that the arm is healing properly and maybe he will get the cast off for good?? Thanks to all of you who have asked about him and for the continued prayers.

I have had a good OP day.... first fully/truly OP day in about a week!! It feels SO GOOD to be in control again! (And many of you know how I feel about that "in control" feeling ;) ). Just gotta forget about the two buckets of cookie dough in the freezer (courtesy of Dnephew's school fundraiser...:headache: )

I'm so sorry I haven't been around more to be more chatty and supportive. I promise I will be as soon as things quiet down with DH and such. He has three straight days of doctor's appointments/xrays/ct scans etc this week (3 hour drive round trip to the medical center), so this week is a little hairy, but hopefully things will slow down after that!!

Talk again soon, I hope..................P

Hey Team Donald!
My name is Robin. I'm from MA. My hobbies: reading, scrapbooking, baking and cooking. Looking forward to gaining inspiration from you all!

Happy Monday, Team :donald:

I've been watching what I eat today and I did my EA Sports Active or whatever it's called. I'm going to look into getting the Active 2.

Has anyone ever done C25K on a treadmill? Is it more trouble to do it on a treadmill than it's worth? :confused3

Hey everyone!! I'm your team mate Janis, I am 51 years old, live North of Boston with my DH of 25 years Joe. We have one DS 14.

Hello Massachusetts!

It's so nice to know there are so many disney fan's locally too. Sometimes at work I feel very alone in my disney obsession. We should defnitely plan a local get together during the challenge. Maybe when it warms up we could have a meet up at a state park and walk or something.

Hi Kathy,
We'll definitely meet up when it gets warmer. Have you ever noticed the car across the street from the cemetery? I think it's a PT cruiser. Their license plate is something like lvzdzny or something close to that. They're never home when I'm out walking, but I always look.

My name is Cody. I'm 47 years old and very recently separated (dh ran away from home the week before thanksgiving ) (Hey, I guess that makes me 162 pounds lighter already :woohoo:).

Hi Cody, sorry to hear about your DH, but I like your thinking on the 162 pounds :goodvibes

Good morning fellow losers :). My hobbies are clipping coupons to see how much I can save on food and household items, taking walks outside (except in the winter), planning Disney Theme Nights with the kids (our first one is next Saturday as The Nightmare Before Christmas), attending my kids sporting events and watching mindless tv (such as the Bad Girls Clubpopcorn::). My challenge to myself now is if I want to watch mindless tv I can do it while walking on the treadmill. That should keep me away from the mindless eating that happens during the shows.

Hmmm.. how do these theme nights work? What's the plan for the Nightmare Before Christmas? My DS is only 18 months, but I like to get ideas for when he's older.

Greetings from Massachusetts!

Greetings indeed!

Hey.... I want "in" if you have a MA meet!!

You're on my list! How's your DH doing?

Nice picture, I can't believe how much the girls have changed since the last photo. Don't they grow so darn quick?

I just read that people who get 7+ hrs of sleep a night do a better job of losing weight/keeping weight off.

What :scared1: Dylan had me up at 4:50 this morning. It's only week 1 of the challenge and already he's doing me in :rotfl:

I am already discouraged. I blew the dust off the treadmill that has been used as a place to hang clothing for a couple of years and tried to do my HH of 20 minutes. I could only do 10 and I feel like a failure. I was huffing and puffing after only a few minutes and that was at a slow speed.

Don't give up, slow and steady wins the race! You can do it :thumbsup2

I'm here in Methuen, MA! Would love a MA/NH meet at some point! Sounds fun!!!

Okay, I'm starting a list of interested people.

dvccruiser - My BF is in Salem, MA so I am NS all the time! I would love a MA/NH meet.

I live in Marshfield - yeah internet dating strikes again:cool1::rotfl2::thumbsup2

I'm in Danvers right next to Salem. Actually Danvers is known as Old Salem. Just a tidbit of nerdy information.

Hey Team Donald!
My name is Robin. I'm from MA. My hobbies: reading, scrapbooking, baking and cooking. Looking forward to gaining inspiration from you all!

Hi Robin, another fellow Mass resident :goodvibes

Hope everyone had a great day :cool1: Ever since my DS was born it seems like I don't have much time for hobbies, but with my spare time I surf the net and the disboards, plan vacations (like 1-2 years out, I know crazy), and check out menus and new restaurants. I'm such a foodie it's crazy. I also collect Disney DVDs, love going to the movies and Cirque Du Soleil when it's in town.

I LOVE the SodaStream!!! We have saved so much money from not buying seltzer!

I was wondering if you have every tried just adding fresh lime juice or lemon juice to the bottles?? Or do you think the citric acid would lessen the bottles lifespan???

And for all the Massachusetts Folks - I am in Wakefield. Would love to be added to the list of those interested in a get together.

Janis

hey.... I want "in" if you have a MA meet!!

So do I! My town is less than 20 min. from Mass. :cool1:

Now, I'm off to continue reading. I really have to budget more time to catch up on threads. Work isn't that busy this week, but there's always something else to do. Today, I had to stop 2 different CVSs to find what I needed. (CVSing is my hobby. :rotfl2:) Then, I had to go back later because I needed an Rx refill. I really need to stay on top of that too. :rolleyes1

Hope everyone is doing well! Can't wait to see those Healthy Habits points rolling in on Friday! :goodvibes

CC

Greetings from Your Healthy Habits Coach

Just a few quick replies...Hope everyone is having a great day!

Thanks to Connie and CC for doing the WIN and HH. And thanks to Rose for keeping the whole challenge organized!

Not a problem! I am really enjoying it! I admire your work, as well as Lisa's and Dona's.

I am already discouraged. I blew the dust off the treadmill that has been used as a place to hang clothing for a couple of years and tried to do my HH of 20 minutes. I could only do 10 and I feel like a failure. I was huffing and puffing after only a few minutes and that was at a slow speed.

Thank you to all who have responded! :)

 to you, karliebug. 10 minutes is great! I don't remember staying on the treadmill that long the first time I used it. :yay: for getting out there and exercising! Also, remember, the goal of HHs is not for you to complete every habit, everyday. Instead, you are encouraged to work toward a healthier lifestyle knowing that these are components of one. :goodvibes

Thanks to all who offered me encouragement. I did 12 minutes tonight so I am going to try and add a couple of minutes each day to work up to 30-45 minutes. This is going to be a long haul.
