Team Bilp's 21-Day Dining Extravaganza- Lots of PICS- 24/7-14/8 UPDATED 8/21 Boma

Boma sounds yummy. What a shame you didn't like the french toast at Crystal Palace - it's one of my favourite things, although I don't find it very 'french toasty' at all - more like a doughnut yum!

I would urge you to give Columbia Harbour House another try. I have no idea why your meals weren't good but it's one of our favourite CS places in the parks.

I don't think I have heard one bad review for Boma. Wow, Citrico's ~ can't wait! How sweet of your honey to book the tour for you!

Yum, yum, yum!!! Well, except for the greasy nuggets but it was in the midst of the KTTK tour so I think we have to forgive that culinary disaster. How nice for Matt to have planned a surprise day for you! Can't wait for more!! popcorn::

Monday 28th July 2008 (cont’d)- Super Citrico’s!

This was Matt’s surprise for the evening- a meal at Citrico’s! He didn’t tell me where we were going until we got there, so when we pulled into the Grand Floridian I must admit I was sort of crossing my fingers and muttering ‘chef’s table’ under my breath, but our budget didn’t stretch quite that far! Lol.

Citrico’s is a gorgeous restaurant, and it was super quiet! The dining room is light and airy and we had a table with a lovely view of the GF’s pool and the gardeny area. Our server, I forget her name… I’m so bad with names, was lovely, really helpful and sweet. Anyway, now, on to the food!

First our waitress started us off with some yummy wholegrain bread. The bread was nice and warm and the butter was sprinkled with sea salt which made it delicious. I really didn’t want to fill up on bread but couldn’t help it!

I ordered a half bottle of white (sorry can’t remember what it was but it wasn’t all that anyway!) and Matt asked for a recommendation on a red. She said she had the perfect one and brought out a bottle of German red wine, which we loved! It was sweet while being full and fruity and yum! We made a special trip to Germany in Epcot so we could buy a bottle of this to take home!

For appetizers I had Gateau of Crab (sorry, I attacked it a bit before I remembered to take a piccy!):

This is jumbo lump crab, orange fennel cream and tomato fennel slaw. This was really good too- there was a LOT of crab which was good. Initially the sauce was tasty and creamy but after a while it became a bit bland… I still managed to clean my plate though!

Matt had Arancini (again it’s already half munched!):

Arancini is ‘crispy risotto with Italian sausage, Quaitro Fromaggi and white truffle Aioli’. I’m not a big fan of risotto so didn’t try it but Matt assured me it was gorgeous and he managed to finish it all.

Here’s my entrée:

It’s roasted Tanglewood farms chicken breast with Torchiette pasta, prosciutto di Parma and fresh English peas. Ew ew ew peas! I had to pick around them, I guess I didn’t read it in the description. I know I got boring old chicken but this sounded so good… and it really was! The chicken was so soft and tender and gorgeously seasoned. The pasta tasted homemade and I could’ve licked the sauce off my plate. There was just a tidgy pile of peas left on my plate after this!

This is Matt’s:

He had the braised Boneless Black Angus Short Ribs with creamy Polenta and a Blood Orange Demi-glace. He said the polenta he got with this was really good, very creamy and sweet. The meat was cooked perfectly and it was heavenly when I got to taste a bit. Yum!

We were soooo full but, obviously, we couldn’t pass up on dessert! I had the seasonal berry gratin with Champagne Grand Marnier sabayon:

This was basically blackberries, cherries, strawberries and raspberries covered in a gorgeously sweet (and alcoholicy!) sauce. The berries were so fresh and tasty and the sauce was to die for… even though I was stuffed to the brim I managed to fit the vast majority of this in! Matt’s dessert:

Matty had the tropical fruit crème brulee- he was so kind and let me have the yummy white chocolate sticky thing and a big bite of crème brulee, which was yummy (I need to find another word for ‘yummy’). It was sugary and good on the top and perfectly smooth and sweet inside- perfect!

We loved Citrico’s. Our server was really sweet and attentive, the dining room was quiet and intimate and the food and gorgeous. I can’t believe it isn’t more popular! I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a good, romantic meal and we’re definitely going again next trip!

Next up: Raglan Road!

Monday 28th July 2008- Columbia Harbour House

Be warned, if you’re a smaller party on KTTK you will be sat with others for lunch. Usually no problemo for us, but we were sat with a couple who would just *not* *speak*. No matter how much we tried they wouldn’t talk to us, just amongst themselves. So we gave up, not everyone likes making conversation, I guess.

I would have talked to you!! I hate that, especially at Disney, there is always something to talk about! This is why DH and I will no longer eat at Teppan Edo. Everytime we go there, we are sat with people who just will not talk with us. :confused3. It makes for a very uncomfortable dining experience.

I am enjoying your report very much!! We LOVE Boma's too!!

Citricos looks fabulous! Just curious ~ did you seen very many kids there? Mine are usually civilized in public places and I would love to go there with them, but I wouldn't take them if they would be the only kiddos.

Wow, Citricos looks fab - and that chicken looks anything but boring, it looks delicious :)

I can't wait for our ADR at Citrico's now! Just a little over a month now... I'm counting the days...

We ate at Citrico's a few years ago for my sister's b'day and had a lovely time. That was before the DIS so no photos and I don't remember what I had. Now it's going back on the list. :thumbsup2

I visited Manchester last year and loved that city and cant wait to go back. Went to a bunch of your old pubs and loved the beer you guys have over there. Really neat old pubs.
Oh great food report also.

Thanks! We live about 20 minutes out from the city centre and love trying all the different pubs there. I've been (legally!) experimenting for three years now and don't think I've got round them all yet!

ah, thanks for clearing up that "GF room service" mystery - glad you got to enjoy a night onsite, as well as at Universal!

ok, enough talk - more food porn!!!:rotfl:

We loved staying onsite. If we weren't so greedy wanting our own pool we would definitely do it more often!

Yum! Great review so far. So funny- we have a PF CHangs nearby and I've never been there, but reading this makes me want to go!

It's really good! If we had one nearby we'd be there all the time! Well worth it!

Great so far! Cant wait for more!

Thanks! Glad you're enjoying it!

Enjoying your reviews, I just love Boma!

We did too! It was scrummy!

Subbing... great so far! Can't wait for more :cutie:

Thank you very much!!! Good to have you on board!!

I like to do Planet Hollywood every trip also. I'm planning on the Blue Lagoon when I'm there in November. It sounds good! I had Sweet Death Becomes Her last time, that was really good!

Blue Lagoon was so good I couldn't bring myself to try anything else in case it wasn't as amazing as that! I now have a family of free drink sharks piled up on my dressing table!

Sounds like a lot of fun! Subbing!

It was amazing! Thanks for joining!!!

I think that was part of the reason I didn't like the French Toast- I was expecting real french toast! I'm not a big sweet breakfast person to be honest, and I probably would've liked it as a snack sometime later in the day!

We wondered why we had such a yucky meal at CHH when so many peope rave about it.. we will probably go back and try it without being on a tour- we felt our food was probably under a warmer for a while.. which probably didn't help the tastiness! Thanks for reading!!!

He got plenty of brownie points for booking that tour I tell you! It was great and I don't know how he's gonna top it next time! We were really pleased with Boma- it was so much fun trying different things! Oh, and Citrico's was gorgeous too!

Excellent:thumbsup2

Thank you! :)

I loved the KTTK tour and it wasn't spoiled by the food- it was so interesting and fun! We're definitely going on more tours next time!

Thanks for sharing your pics, they look yummy!:thumbsup2

It was yummy and it's great looking back at all our memories! Except it makes me kinda hungry...

Citricos is going on my list!:thumbsup2

We loved it- it was such a nice discovery!

Great reviews!! Thanks :thumbsup2

That's one of the reason we haven't been to Teppan Edo too- we're worried about a really stuffy and uncomfortable time. It's a shame because we were bubbling wanting to chat about everything we'd learned on the tour.. but never mind!

Wow what great reviews! Thanks for posting!

Thank you for joining!

Love the reviews!! Keep them coming!!

Thanks for reading! :)

Great reviews! :thumbsup2

Thank you! :goodvibes

We saw one party with a little girl- I remember particularly because we commented on how good she was being. She must have been about four and we had a quite late ADR- 8.30- and we were impressed how good she was being when she was probably really tired! Like I said, we had a late on ADR so that was probably why there weren't more. The dining room isn't very formal, and I can't see any reason kiddies wouldn't have lots of fun there!

Wow, Citricos looks fab - and that chicken looks anything but boring, it looks delicious :)

Mmm... it was! It was one of my favourite dishes at WDW this year! Thanks for reading!
