Team 8 Jessica's Rabbits Bios and Info

Scott and Amy

Personally, I am growing older, but not up. There are 8 of us headed to the Saturday Buffett show. We have 2 premier parking passes, so a caravan and nuclear tailgating are on the menu before the show. Luckily we have 2 double-e's in the group, so our link of the blender to the car batteries will be professionally done. I'm glad you 2 had a great time at the show.

I have all the numbers in up to this point. Thank you all for your hard work and reporting. Once Steve F, Krista, Liz and Patrick report, and they WILL REPORT, we'll be close to 13,000 miles I suspect.

I'm doing well health-wise, and got 59 miles of running and biking in the last 10 days of August. Plus lots of hard weight work. Funny thing about that weight work, no matter how hard you lift and work the abs, it doesn't replicate the stess on your diaphram when you run hard. Sunday I tried my first real tempo run since May 4's 15K, shooting for half the half under 60. I hit 5K in 27:48 and it wasn't too hard, but I knew there was no way I could hold it for 6.55 miles, as my diaphram was beginning to hurt. By miles 4 and 5 it wasn't much fun, and I stopped at 5.34 miles, at 8:55 per mile pace. So my weekly training now will always include a couple of miles just under 9 mpm pace so I can hopefully get that muscle to toughen up.

Best
Craig

Oh sure....some folks go AWOL for weeks but I'm late posting by 2 days and I get yelled at? Sheesh

For Aug 22-31
Miles 3.75
Hours 2

Pathetic I know but WTO then LTO then we were gone all weekend. Did get in a nice walk on the beach though.

We were going to see Jimmy this year however cheapest seats were $65 and I refused. What the heck happened to $17.95 concert tickets?:confused3 Oh, I just seriously dated myself...

Keep up the great work everyone!!

OK, I'll get caught up. I'm not doing a ton of running, but I'm getting a few miles in. Half-Marathon training starts on Sept 15, so after that I'll be ramping up again.

Aug 15-21
hours 1.9
miles 10.4

Aug 22-31
hours 2.1
miles 10.7

:confused3

I guess there is a little bit of fruitcake left in every one of the Rabbits!

We only got to see Jimmy once about three years ago. It was a great show and a lot of fun. We hope to go back soon. It's a bummer that the closest he ever comes is ~6 hours away.

It's good to see your training going so well Craig. That's also great that you didn't push too hard and knew when to ease up.

I'll be posting my numbers Thursday night and then am off on a road trip to L.A. to visit family and the west coast Mouse for four days, followed by a day at the zoo, followed by a 10K. I just hope my feet aren't giant blisters going into the race.

I'll post my 9/5-9/11 numbers on Monday the 15th when I return.

I doubt I'll be able to do much (if any) running until the race. If I can find my pedometer, would my miles walking around Disneyland count toward our team?

On our non-early entry days, I may try to get out to run a few miles around property in the morning. I'm sure that won't be enough to work off a Monte Cristo...maybe the jelly at least?

Thanks for the numbers Liz and Carol. Autumn is coming fast and we'll all be producing more miles to prep for the races.

Steve

Yes, your walking number count, even at the Magic Kingdom. Or perhaps especially there, since it can turn out to be a long day of walking.

Yes, the price of everything is up there. I'm old enough that my very first ski lift ticket at Winter Park was $5. I understand prices have gone up! I saw tickets for the Eagle's new tour were $350 a pop. I knew Glen Frey was a greedy SOB, and this removes any doubt. Makes the price of the goofy challenge cheap, especially on a per minute basis. I figure around 7 hours for all 39.3 miles, 420 minutes, at a price if I recall around $230. Only $0.55 per minute! Of course those last few miles of the full seem to cost a lot more.

Hi! I am going to adjust my entries to be Monday through Sunday starting now. The way I have been doing it (Tuesday through Monday) doesn't really make a whole lot of sense and I hate waiting until Monday is over to post.

So, this is an adjusting week:

Tuesday, September 2 through Sunday, September 7:

Miles: 42.06
Time: 6.5 Hours

Tuesday: 6.05 miles
Wesnesday: 8.01 miles
Thursday: 4 miles
Friday: Rest
Saturday: 9 miles
Sunday: 15 miles

[That works out to a 9:16 pace on average - not bad.]

Great job and effort to everyone on the team! Keep it up!

Howard

Good Evening Everyone

I am caught up to here, thanks for the data.

Amy and Scott saw my role model Jimmy Buffett in Atlantic City, and Martha, Lesley, and I saw him this past Saturday afternoon.

They guy is many things, a master showman, and a brilliant businessman, and one fit 61 year old man.

The show was moved 5 hours forward due to tropical storm Hanna coming here fast, and they kept the show moving so folks could get home well before the weather turn bad. His band played for 2 hours and 20 minutes, and the numbers were arranged so the members could slip offstage for a song or 2 to rest and then return. All except for Jimmy, who was off stage for only 1 song in the set. I'm 10 years younger than him, and it was humbling to see, yet exhilirating. Take care of yourself, eat right, exercise, all that stuff, and you can still get out there and have a great time.

We've seen him 4 times in the past 5 years, and this was the best show. Maybe like a grand cru bordeaux, we improve with proper aging.

Craig

Hi Bunnies, I have a new player for y'all, Tracyz, she is training for the Nike women's marathon.

Please welcome Tracyz.

Hello everyone! I'm new to this, so not completely sure what is involved here...any guidance or suggestions are great! It looks like people post their weekly mileage and minutes at the end of each week? Does the week end on Sunday? Do wii fit minutes count? As a new member, should I backtrack at all? I keep a running log, so I can go back...maybe to the beginning of September if it's not too late?

My name is Tracy, I'm 35 years old, and I live in Vermont with DH and 2 DD's, ages 17 and 6. I'm currently training through Team in Training for the Nike Women's Marathon in San Francisco...just 5 weeks away! Next weekend I'm going to York, Maine to run the Maine Coast Half Marathon.

I'm looking forward to getting to know you all!

Welcome Tracy :)

Wow...great to have you here! We'll really benefit from all your miles. Sounds like you are doing an awesome job planning for both your marathons. One of the people in my running group will be doing the Maine Coast Half too....sounds like a beautiful but challenging course!

Currently we are posting our hours from Monday - Sunday. Yes, wii fit counts toward total hours exercised during the week. Miles can be counted based on running, walking, biking, elliptical, etc. Anything that you can get an accurate mileage on will count. If you do a race of any type the miles count DOUBLE. So woo-hoo for your marathons :).

Craig...team....Here are my hours/miles for week ending Sept. 14th:

Miles: 68.73
Hours: 12.5

Have a great week everyone. Happy training.

Hello Tracy

We have a small group, but what we have is absolute quality.

All we need you to do is post your weekly miles and time of exercise. The miles are all-inclusive, running, walking, biking, and swimming. Your time in hours is everything above, plus weight work, pilates, yoga, everything you do which makes you stronger and fitter.

If you can post this for September 8 - 14, 15 - 22, and then 23 - 30, I'll pick them up and get them in the master sheet. Pieces and narrative are good, but do please give me the summary of total miles and time for the week to make my life easier. I'm overscheduled this fall, so that helps me a lot.

And let us know how you're doing.

Amy

Thanks for the big numbers as always. I hope you are feeling fresh and fit.

I was able to run 10.11 today, which I feel pretty good about. My target in the Goofy Challenge is the half, and I'm almost there on the long run. I also pushed the pace a good bit Wednesday, running 1/3 the half marathon well below sub-2 pace. If I can keep this up and not get injured I should have a good result on January 10. After I spill my guts on the half on Saturday I suspect I won't have anything in the tank for Sunday's full, but as long as I get around the course on Sunday, I'll be fine with that.

Best to all
Craig

Good evening everyone. The weekend is over and it's back to work in the morning.

Here are my numbers for the week ending 9/14:

Miles: 41.4
Hours: 8 hours 52 minutes (some running, some wii fit)

You people scare me. I have a bad feeling that if I stay around here I'm going to end up running Goofy 2010...
