Team 8 Jessica's Rabbits Bios and Info

my deepest apologies that i don't have anything to report this week...

I have viral induced vertigo...now if they count the constant stuggle to stay upright as excercise - then I have some serious numbers for you ;)

Does running a fever or having a running nose count as exercise? If so I will have the most hours for this week! If not, sorry guys but I'm still not a huge contributor. (Just wait until the weather breaks here in MI!)

I have a total of one hour of walking. Again I can't calculate total miles because I am walking at work and my garmin doesn't work in the basement here. I should walk on the half mile loop they have set up, but it gets too crowded.

Have an active week and stay healthy. The virus that's going around is not a fun one.

-Susan

I don't want to leave anyone out in my thank you so thought I would come here to personally thank anyone who joined in with contributions in my name. WISH Team is the best!

:grouphug:

Craig - pointing, standing and photographing of said little grey furry butted animals would require actually spotting one rather than aimless wandering around looking up (and then shrieking violently when the bushes next to you start rustling and there's a massive lizard that you just nearly trod on as you were looking up, running in to them) !!!!!

Hi Rabbits...just checking in

Susan...Feel better!!! There is just so much going around right now...and it seems to be relentless. Don't worry about not getting the miles in..just focus on getting healthy!

Kate...OMG...vertigo :(. That must be awful. Take care of yourself. What a few weeks you've had!!!!

Erin...CONGRATS!!!!

Jeff...Good luck on the race!!! :thumbsup2

Scott....I know you're having a good week....thanks for racking up those miles buddy! :)

Steve and Krista...How are you guys doing? I know you're probably busy. Just making sure you're ok!!

So this has been a productive week for me thus far...logged 30 miles up to yesterday and 8 hours! I'm heading out to hit the bike and a run ... and maybe get to a pilates class at some point too ;). I think this will be my best mileage week, mainly because the snow forced me inside on my bike trainer (had to substitute some long trainer miles in for a few runs). But hey...we'll take it right?

Hope those fighting off illness are feeling MUCH better!! :goodvibes

Good morning rabbits! (are we supposed to do something special for Easter? :rotfl: )

I'm going to attempt to be a more social teammate...forgive me for being so quiet around here lately...we've got such a great team!! 4th in hours and 2nd in miles as of this morning is pretty impressive...way to go everyone!!

Susan - Hang in there and get well soon! That virus is everywhere and seems to hang on for a while.

Kate - The vertigo does not sound pleasant to deal with...hoping you get well soon too!

Liz - Every mile counts! Glad the threads helped you out a bit...and take care of that shin. Are you stretching it out after the workouts?

Helen - How are things down under? Any photos of the elusive koala yet?

Jeff - GOOD LUCK this weekend buddy! Remember...that half counts as double miles :)

SteveOH - another consistently awesome week! You've been quiet though, everything alright in your world?

Martha - The snow and weather has messed everyone up this winter...hoping you can get outdoors (and away from the treaddie) soon!

Erin - 100% nice job!! Impressive workouts, too...doing the biking and running back to back. When is Green Lakes??

Krista - Always impressed by your numbers, having to workout for two all of the time! Nice job!! Hoping all is well with the baby and it's mom (and Steve too!)...

Craig - thanks for those solid weeks! Almost time to start ramping up for the Minnie Weekend...are we planning on a bunny convention?

Amy - awesome job there partner! Love how you've diversified your workouts this year with the spin classes and the speed work...guess I need to get my butt in gear or I'll be playing catch up with you during the Minnie events :goodvibes:

Those I missed - keep up the great work...get better if your are ill...and remember every mile and minute counts!

So....I've been dealing with a shin-something-or-other for the past week, along with some sort of sinus thing...so I didn't run, but I found out that the bike and elliptical can really rack up the miles!! May be time to hang up the Asics and start training for a century (for the better good of us rabbits)!!

Fortunately (or not), I did my first run in a week last night on the treadmill, did 6 miles at 9:13 pace and everything felt really good...thus putting an end to the cross training inflated numbers. The good news is that I'm over 50 miles and 6 hours already this week :goodvibes:

Hope everyone is having a great week!

Hi Bunnies:flower3:

I have a new member for you. Please welcome Teri, "Outonarun". She is ready to kick butt and have fun.

Scampering off now Panda:hippie:

Greetings, fellow team members!

:) Thanks for signing me on! I have just finished reading your bios, and now know I am surrounded by some real athletes! Great! I am 40 and have been running for 28 years (for fun and fitness). This past year I have been strength training in a gym a couple times a week, and have found it to virtually elimimate my lower back pain (yes!). Also, it seems that my enhanced core strength now comes to my rescue in shorter races -- arms pumping up a storm -- since I am not a fast runner.

I look forward to getting to know you all over the months and miles. I'll need some help livening up my posts (your guys' look great), since all I know how to do so far is add "smilies."

Please give me a couple days to figure out how to post my miles and hours, too.

As far as Disney races go, I have run the marathon once (mid-90s), and did Goofy the last two years. I ran Minnie last year, too. I am heading for the Minnie in May, and will be back to run Goofy in '09.

I travel solo to WDW several times a year and sure do hope to connect with my fellow 'Wabbits.'

Best to you all, and thanks again for having me aboard!

Teri

 WELCOME TERI!!! Wow...we're lucky to have you join our team. It's a friendly group....and we're pretty strong as of right now. I know you'll be an awesome addition to the team!!!! And having all that running experience sure helps! :thumbsup2

Scott and Amy--Aww, guys, thanks for your concern. Stephen and I are doing great, Stephen is working A LOT and I'm just tired all the time. :) My numbers this week have been less than stellar because I'm having trouble sleeping (can't get comfortable), so I come home from work exhausted and lay on the couch all night. But I still have 3 more days to get those numbers up, right? :) But everything with the baby is going great (I'm getting nice and fat ;) ), I go back to the doctor on Friday for my 16 week checkup and I get to schedule my sonogram. YAY!!! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Teri--WELCOME!!!! So glad that you are a bunny!!

Krista

Hello Teri

Welcome to you and your miles/hours. I'm keeping the score sheet so all you need to do is post your weekly results here. The weeks began on Friday, Feb 1 and run to each Thursday, so this week, if you could send me your miles from this Friday to Thursday, and your hours in decimals, I'll get them in.

The miles are all miles, walking, running, biking, and swimming. The hours are all CV or strength workout time, so for example a common workout for me is 30 minutes of weight work and 30 minutes on a bike, so I report 60 minutes and around 7.75 miles for this workout.

I am doing the Goofy again in 2009, as well as the Minnie 15K. There will be a few males in the Minnie crowd, thankfully, so I won't need to cross dress to get into the race.

Scott

What are you shooting for in the 15K? Right now I suspect I'll finish around 83 minutes. Will you be running a similar pace?

Helen

So how big was that lizard? Komodo dragon sized :scared1: ?

Yeah, I believe we'll be in that ballpark...somewhere between 8:30 and 9:00. I've been pretty strong in my 8 mile Sunday runs, hovering around the 8:20 mark and I think I can PR both the 10k (current best is 49:47) and 5k (24:32) that I have coming up in March. In the Minnie, I'll be keeping pace with Amy...I guess we'll have a better idea of what our time goal is once things get a little closer...we're doing both the 5k and 15k but I don't think it'll have quite the draining effect that the half/full combo did in January ;)

In other words....he'll be slowing down for me! :rotfl: I don't know if I can hang on to my 8:43 pr from my 5 Mile race in November...not sure that will translate to the 15K so well. But hopefully adding the speedwork and ramping up my XT will help to make me stronger. :confused3 Seems to me that we'll be gunning for a similar pace Craig. Parrot Head Rabbits unite! :thumbsup2

Hi Teri and welcome! :wave2:
Glad to have you on our team!

I'll be doing my first 1/2 in Jan and also doing the ToT -you know as a warm up. And any excuse to get to WDW is good by me. :thumbsup2
As it is we average 3 trips a year so not too bad.

Look forward to getting to know you and meeting up sometime!

A question about hours/miles this week....

Do we include tomorrow Feb 29 in the hours/miles for this week? Are we suppose to stick with Fri-Thurs and let tomorrow's miles count toward the month of March?:confused3

Kathy

Kathy

Really good question. I just looked at the sheet Darcey built, and each month is self contained. I will need your numbers for the last days of February, up to the 29th, so I'm looking for Friday through Friday this week.

Scott

When I run shorter stuff I can honestly say I never leave anything out there on the course. I was really pleased with my 72:05 Tower of Terror effort, but if it had been 13.1 K, I would have collapsed. I'm probably one of the runners who had near accidents with the walkers doing the 6.5K, hopefully not on purpose, it's just in the last 200 meters I was pushing as hard as I could and had no ability to avoid anything.

With this in mind, your 8:20 pace is out of my league. That is a 77:41 finish, which I cannot possibly do. I suspect 8:50 is possible, an 82:20 finish. I'll try to run between 8:50 and 9:00 mpm and see if I have anything left at the end. I would sure love to run from the Beach Club to the finish with power and speed, after all the horrible last miles I've done in the marathons.

Amy

So it does look like you and I could be incredibly well matched for the distance. If Scott wants to slow down for us, I'd sure welcome him. It's always amazing what you can do with someone on your shoulder, yet it's hard to find a perfect pace match. I'll be looking for you 2 at 6 a.m. May 4.

Parrotheads unite, indeed, excellent idea, I do at least pretend I live the lifestyle. As you noted in the other thread, surfing belongs in this life style. So does flying, and 3.5 years ago I jumped into it with enthusiasm. I loved it, completely loved it, plus if Jimmy can do it, so can I. After 3 months of flying I discovered the difference between Jimmy and me. He is rich, I am not. I added up what I had spent, mulitplied that by 4, figured out what that would be on a yearly pre-tax income basis, and blanched. So for now I'll stay with the less expensive components of Parrothead Nation.

Craig

Scott - I am stretching after work outs (sometimes even before) but having trouble finding a stretch that actually hits the shin. Seems like most I wind up feeling more in the calf. Of course I could be doing something wrong. :confused3 Pain is in the front and to the outside. Funny thing is if I start to jog it goes away. Of course jogging brings on a whole 'nother set of problems.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Well Hello to our Newest Member Teri. You will find that we are a very inviting group. I have ramped up the miles this week and it looks like sub 10 min miles is within my grasp. Was going 6.7 on the treadmill for the run segments and 4.7 for the walk, I do 4 run and 1 walk. I felt like I could have gone farther at that pace too but I had the little devil in the back of my mind reminding me about the 8 miler I have to do on Saturday.:sad1: But I am going to try to do the 8 miler with the tready at 6.6 and 4.7 and see how it goes.

Well I signed xterratri and myself up for a local four miler on the 8th of March and for the Martian Half Marathon today. We are going to get our Minnie Registrations out soon as well. As for the Green Lakes Tri it is late June. Has A hill that can only be described as hellish, it is not long but man is it steep. I ride my brakes on the way down and hit 30-35mph. So I am hoping with doing the bike training I will conquer the hill with enough left in me for a sub 30 min 5K.

Now enough about me. In answer to the stetching Question I learned a trick from my college CC coach. When sitting down with your legs flat out in front of you point your toes and then try to reach them. This is my sure fire cure for shin splints. As much as I disliked that coach he did leave me with some very valuable lessons that I carry with me. Even though I am doing something very novel for this year ad training to race. I hope that this trick helps you out like it has helped me.

Hi Bunnies:flower3: how you are? (My best Cajun accent)

Has everyone had a good month? Your friendly Panda is doing better and can start contributing miles to his team now. I know that y'all have been concerned that I had to much time on my hands.

Starting next month, which is in a few days we are going to have a new thread about either adding something or subtracting something form our lifestyle plan. Everyone can post from all the teams and maybe each of us can get ideas of what we could change ourselves. It will also give us a group thread to keep up with the fact that we are all part of the same larger team.

Walking Panda:hippie:

Erin - Thanks a bunch for that stretching info...seems that shin/front of leg stretches are pretty hard to find and that seems like a pretty good one. Good luck on the 4 mile race coming up!! I'll be racing the same day in a local 10k...go rabbits!

Teri - Welcome aboard!! Another Minnie/Goofy person on the team...us rabbits sure are gonna log the training miles this fall :goodvibes:

Liz - Funny...my discomfort was in the front and to the inside...like you, while running it felt fine...when I stopped it started hurting! A week away from the pavement seemed to help as my last two runs have been pain free. I'm going to incorporate Erin's stretch suggestion for sure.

Craig - Sounds great! We'll be easy to spot as we'll be in full bunny costumes for the 15k. (Amy, we're still doing that, right? :rotfl: )

Sure is nice to get an extra day to log miles this week!! I'll be back tomorrow night with my final week + a day tally :goodvibes:

Hope everyone is doing well!
