Jen: Haven't read
Marley & Me, but have heard good things about it. Almost picked up
The Art of Racing in the Rain today, as I'm thinking of buying it as a gift for a friend of mine who's a serious dog-lover. And it sounds good. Has anyone here read that one?
Ruth: Wow! Your move is coming right up on you. I hope you've had time to plan and pack for it. I moved across the country last summer and swore it would be the last time I did a long-haul move. (Then I moved locally last month, and swore it would be the next-to-last time I moved at all!

) Good to know you're another ice-cream lover. In my ideal world, I get to ice my knees (and sometimes shins) while enjoying a bowl. Too bad I don't do that as often as I'd like.
Kayci: You are, indeed, brilliant! Exercise, pop-culture eduction, and female-body role model all in one! I used a similar strategy while training for the Goofy. Except it was Battlestar Galactica, I ran on my gym's TM, and I watched the series on my iPod. Your way sounds much more pleasurable. And now I'm thinking of you as another one of the super-secret agents on our team. (Ask Julie.)
Are you a history buff, like Maria? I don't mind my historical fiction (print or visual) loosely based, so long as it doesn't pretend otherwise. I've read some of Phillipa Gregory's work, and her scholarship is questionable to say the least but at least she's got the girl power going on. Have you read them and, if so, what did you think? The Tudors is on my Netflix queue, which is now so long that it's both unmanageable and embarrassing.
JenB: Pixar and Buffy? Now that's an interesting pop-culture mix to run to. Not surprising for Ohana, of course, as we seem to have several of us who read/watch the vampire genre. I think I was the few people who actually saw Whedon's movie before the series (and liked it--thought it was a hoot). More seriously, are you getting any training outside for the DL1/2? I keep reading reports, especially from Aloha Jeff, about the predicted heat there. Whoa!
Julie: Remember, when you see the cabana boys don't blush. Especially if you're in a swimsuit! They'll notice and figure out why (or they think they'll know why).

Thanks for asking about the speed and breathing. No change yet, but I guess I should be comforted by the idea that I am breathing, huh? Good luck with the packing and enjoy your trip. With your fruity drinks, good books, and DH, I have no doubt that it'll be pretty terrific. Add some sultry nights and adult time, and you'll have plenty of stories for us upon your return.
Maria: Comic-Con 2009? You up for it? I'm sulking today because 2008 is quickly approaching and I'm not going. Um, Watchman??!! Star Trek!! How did DS enjoy Wall-E? I'll be going again soon, if I can get DOOD to re-prioritize his weekend plans. New Englanders, with their ice-cream habits, are obviously my kind of people. As if I needed confirmation after having met so many N.E. WISHers!
For Maria: Engagement-ring story. DOOD proposed to me, oh, many years ago, while at WDW (Contemporary, fireworks). I'm pretty low-key about things, and planning a wedding? So not my thing. So I treated the engagement as a destination, not part of the journey to marriage. Cut to the move to Pittsburgh, we're still not married. My ring was stolen during the move-in process because, stupid me, I had taken off the ring while I was helping the movers carry boxes. (Am I sure it wasn't simply lost? Yes. It wasn't the only ring missing.) I was heartbroken, strange because I'm not the sentimental sort.
So DOOD, being the lovely person he is, secretly bought me another Tiffany ring, one that was as close to the original as possible. He re-proposed, this time at an old-time drive-in movie. (It was my choice for date night.) Told me he was still game for the whole marriage thing, except he said it with more flair. And so I received my second engagement ring, which marked our new start in Pgh. It seemed only fitting that we were married at a JOP last August, here in our new hometown. Which technically means we're newlyweds and our first year anniversary is coming up. (Ack! And me without a gift planned!

) And an interesting side note: most of our friends and family don't know! Maybe we'll do a VR at Disney and pretend it's the real deal.
As for me: Anyone here read the YA
Twilight series? I hear people getting frothy about it, but I'm afraid it's more of a romance than a true vampire series. Ooooh, my snobbery is showing. How about more of a romance than an action vampire genre?
Also, how about a roll call? I can't remember who's in for ToT? We haven't registered yet, in part because of inertia, in part because of schedules. But we're still in. I keep getting emails from Priceline and Hotwire on hotel-room drops. We might be seriously considering staying off-site. (i.e. DOOD is all for the savings.)
