I had a meeting at my ds school on Thursday, so I mentioned to his teacher that we are going to Disney the end of January and do I need to ask/write for permission with the principal, and also when I should remind her so she can get his work ahead of time for him. Well.... She said, no need to ask the principal, and she doesn't give out the work. If there is anything important he misses, they will make up with him the following week. She actually said to me, "Go, relax, and have a fun vacation!"

Whoo hoo!! :cheer2:

I did tell her that we will incorporate alot of eduactional things while we are there, and he can share some things he learned when he comes back.

Btw, he is in second grade! Not like middle or high school but, I was worried reading some of the issues that other parents have had. It was a nice relief! Thought I'd share! :cool1:

What great news for you! Seems like a teacher who has a little perspective. Now if only the people at work would get that perspective too! :rotfl2:

Hope you have a wonderful trip!

I also had a very easy time with my kids teachers as well. I think though it had to do with the fact that they are missing the week before christmas break and there is not a heavy workload to start with. One of the teachers said she doesnt think there will be anything to give to my daughter ahead of time because of all the activities planned for the week. That is a huge relief for me.

I'm taking my DS out the entire week AFTER our Easter Break due to the cruise on Magic is almost $2K cheaper than the week of Easter for our category. So... the teacher was wonderful, said she'd give me work for him while we are gone (kindergarten - so it's letters, numbers and reading) and he could keep a journal to share with the class. It is NOT the prevailing position of the school district by any means, but his teacher was totally supportive, especially when I told her of the savings by changing the week!!! :flower:
