Teacher discounts at Swan and Dolphin

Can anyone tell me why the teacher discount is not available when teachers are on break from school? For example, April 8-15 is my Spring break, but a blackout date for discounts. I, like many teachers, cannot take time off during the school year (although I would like to!) to go to WDW. Does this make sense?

I just checked your dates at the Swan using the link from the swan/dolphin website to Starwood reservations. The teacher rate is available (here labeled as "government rate," but it is the same thing b/c I found rates this way then called ressies to confirm and make the reservation) for 175.00. I would call the hotel directly to book, just to be safe.

I'm with you on this one! I have tried to use the discount repeatedly but our school vacations are always considered "peak season" and you'll be hard-pressed to find any resort discounts during this time. There was one time when our Mardi Gras trip fell early and the discount was available but the hotels were booked...it's like a conspiracy or something

What is the number that you call directly to get reservations for Dolphin? I want to use the nurses discount. I am going in May. Also, can I reserve more than 1 room in my name with the discount? Thanks

The good and bad of being a teacher. Off of school at the "good times" like Christmas and a nice week in Feb and April (for me anyway) but it's the most expensive time to travel!
Call them direct, more options are open when you talk to a person rather than a computer!

I just booked for April 14th week with nurse discount and it was 175. at Dolphin.No rooms left at that rate @ Swan.The AAA was 197.50 on thier site and hotels.com has 229. best rate so I guess it is still a good deal.The 155. would have been better but it is Easter weekend so it isnt available. We usually stay at Swan.Can anyone tell me how you liked Dolphin?

We stayed at the Contemporary on an AP rate last year during Spring Break because S/D didn't have a decent teacher discount. You can get the teacher discount at many times during the summer months, but it's so hot at WDW at that time. For the last few years, S/D has had a special in Dec. (through Dec. 26th) that is even less than the teacher rate. We are planning on doing that for a few days next year.

Snowwite--I have stayed at both the Swan and Dolphin and there is very little difference between them. The Dolphin is much bigger, so you might ask for a room on the West or Central Wing. The East Wing is a little far from the pool and Tubbi's, but it's not any farther than if you were staying at the Swan.
