TCD- just back from the Fort- read my ramblings here!

Your pictures are just too cool!!!:3dglasses Another reason to buy the MH. I can't wait:thumbsup2

Tri-Circle-D you have the spying down to an art. I'm enjoying your pictures we are going for a week, leaving on Friday! I've read alot of comments on the sites being cleared out. The do look like they are cleaned up but I thnk they look nice! Thanks for the info!

Anyone who was at the Fort for the 4th of July, may be able to confirm this, but I swear the picture of the set up on the 100 loop by the sidewalk is the same rig that was there for the 4th of July that won 1st place for the cart parade, was a Christmas themed cart. Anyone, Anyone???

That's a big 10-4 Tim. When we went 2 weeks ago the same Class C was there. I wish I had that many decorations lol. I'm trying to get my cart decorated for next week for our neighborhood riding. I finally found the little pumpkin lights today at Big Lots. After seeing them everywhere and not getting them I go Sunday to Target who had about 150 boxes Friday night and now you can't find them anywhere. Went to and called about 15 stores and all were out. I'm not a big fan of Big Lots (no pun intended) but they had some good deals on seasonal items.

You want more?

I got more!

So, here is something new.

As we all know, the petting zoo has kind of declined in the past few years.

But, there were still a few goats, a couple of sheep, and a pot bellied pig or two left.

No more.

It is just ponies now in all the pens.

There are new signs on all of the gates that say do not feed or pet the horses or ponies.

So, the no petting the critters at the petting zoo- got it?

Here's your sign:

Here's a pony:

They're nice to look at, but I miss the good old days when the kids could get in there and pet the critters. And, the little machines that sold the goat food. Good times.

:rotfl: "The Un-Petting Zoo". Why, the Dept of Redundant Redundancies will hear of this! What better place to celebrate our Un-birthday.

IMO It is good advice not to pet those little critters. They are the absolutely most vicious horses I have ever been around. Had a buddy who had two. We would sit there and watch those horses "stalk" his kids (through the fence so they couldn't get at the kids). They would make traps for the kids, where one would walk nicely up to the fence and calmly submit to be petted. The other one would sneak up and try to bite and kick them.

He had a B-day party for his DD7 once. One of his shetlands took off with a girl on the back....got out to the middle of the yard and then launched her.....broke her arm.....what a mess.

Now, these two could be "devil horses" but I have heard this from other people about Shetlands in general. "Small Horse Syndrome" I don't know, but dang.....

Disclaimer for Horse lovers (because this is the DIS after all). I am sure that most horses are great and any bad horses are that way because of how they were treated etc. Just tellin' what I saw and heard.

Your pictures are terrific!!! Keep 'em comin'!!!

Well, if y'all want some more, I have some more!

Here is a neat golf cart. I think it's supposed to be Mater (from Cars). They need to add some teeth to finish out the effect:

BTW- these are Gator fans- getting ready to watch Florida whip up on Kentucky on Saturday (see the Gator sticker in the tear-drop's window?)

These folks were set up on the 1700 loop.

Speaking of the 1700 loop- here is something cool that was going on there last weekend.

The entire loop (and it's a big one) was rented out by a church group from Brandon, Florida (next door to Tampa for you Yankees).

Each camper had a little name plate shaped like a pumpkin at the entrance to his or her site.

They had T-shirts made up. They were trying to sell some of last year's. Here's what they looked like:

Picture159.jpg

They had one site that they used as a gathering place. They pulled a bunch of their tables onto that site:

Picture160.jpg

They were real friendly. Invited us to attend a church service that was going to be held on Sunday morning there on the loop.

Looks like they had a great time.

A fellow we spoke to said that they do this every year. In fact, this was their 21st annual camping trip!

Let's see . . . what else do I have around here? Oh, I know, how about some more Halloween Decorations?

This set-up was a joint effort between two campsites on the 500 loop. They had hand made tombstones- all with clever sayings.

This is a day-time photo:

Picture167.jpg

It was really cool at night time. They rigged up black lights to illuminate the tombstones, which were painted with flourescent paint- also had a fog machine going. The photos don't really do it justice, but hopefully, you get the idea:

Hey, guess what? I still have a lot more photos! So, please be sure to check back!

I wish I could have seen these folks!! I love looking at teardrops!! I went "looping" on Wednesday about noon (probably the deadest time possible).

Hah, I love the makeshift antennae, that's great. Nice looking teardrop as well.

Patiently waiting for more!

So that's why the 1700 Loop was so empty on Wednesday. I bet there were less than 10 sites occupied. I figured they were emptying it out to close it for renovations, but it looks like they were getting it ready for this group :-)

Great pics!!!!!! Thanks for sharing.

I never knew there were so many decorations for Halloween. I have never seen so many Halloween inflatables. I guess they just don't have much of it in our area. There are some really cool things!

OK- I only have time for one more right now, but will be back later today.

One of the things that I love about the Fort is that everyone is welcome. From the guy/gal with the big rig, to the tent camper. I have camped side by side with both, and everyone has always been friendly.

So, check out this guy's set up.

His dinghy (a dinghy is a vehicle towed behind a motorhome) is a Mercedes SUV (and that is the expensive model for those of you who might not be in the know):

One time the DW took the DD's to Chicago to visit the American Girl place. One of the highlights of their trip is that they saw Oprah pull up to her condo, park her car, and get out. This is the car Oprah drives. Maybe she was camping at the Fort? This was on the 700 loop.

I love the hitchhiking ghost statue, did you see those in the trading posts?

We also love the headstones people make up, walking around and reading those was the highlight for my kids when we stayed there one October.

They were selling those just about everywhere!! They are expensive too, over $100 each!!!

Maybe they're considered seasonal and will be marked down by the time we get there. (I wonder how heavy they are, how much extra weight they'd add to your gear?)

Did you happen to see if they had any of the original design refillable mugs when you were there?

I haven't done refillable mugs for awhile, and never at the Fort. Sacriledge, I know, but I had only one meal at Trails End. (Too many F&W booths and seminars to go to!!!)
