TCD- just back from the Fort- read my ramblings here!

Well, I am running low on photos, but here is one of someone's personal surrey, which was parked at the bike rack down by the Settlement boat launch:

Cheaper than a cart, that's for sure! That thing looks like fun actually. You could really do a headless horseman getup with that thing...

We are here right now and are laughing at all the pictures because we have seen them. We are big fans of Tarp City as we call it. The halloween decorations are great. Just so you know there is another golf cart (it actually just went by) that has your same incognito disguise with the big pumpkin on top. I had to look and see when you posted this to make sure it wasn't you.

What? Another golf cart with a pumpkin on it! How dare they!!

Well, imitation is the greatest form of flattery. There were actually two or three golf carts sporting pumpkins on the roof last weekend-and one of them lit up, too. I would expect there to be more this weekend!

What site are you on?

Thanks for posting all of the great pics! I was having a bummer of a day and this thread cheered me up!!

We are on 1716 so if anyone is in the area stop by and say hi. My Dsis is on 1715 aka 4mickey2. I wish someone would stop the rain for a little while. I think we have had rain every day so far. The radar doesn't seem to show it going away either.

Does the Fort offer any deals for long time stays (my guess is a big resounding NO)?
They used to, but that ended last year (2006) :sad1:

It was called a "Winter Settler's Rate" & was offered to people who spent more than 30 days at the Fort. Actually, it wasn't an offered or automatic rate, you had to know to ask for it! Since the Settler's rate has been discontinued, a few of the winter regulars have made accomodations elsewhere. It hasn't hurt the Fort, however - as anyone who tries to make a ressie knows!

HOWDY!!! I love the 1700 loop! Take good care of it as I'll be requesting a site in that loop in November!:thumbsup2

I'm sorry you're getting rained on, however, we desperately need the rain here, so please, (pretty, pretty, please) don't ask for it to go away! I'll even run some poncho's over to you if you need them! (In exchange for some good Wisconsin Cheese & a Brat on the grill :woohoo: )

Have fun!:woohoo:

Fantastic pics! :goodvibes

Thanks for the compliments.

Well, I think that is about it for this trip.

Here are a few blurry photos that I had left:

These are all from the 700 loop.

Time to start planning the next trip! :woohoo:

These folks were all clkelly's neighbors last week:

First I present to you Tarp Man. This guy gets the award for the most tarps used on a single campsite. Everytime we rode by, it was just Tarp Man sitting there at his picnic table all by his lonesome, working on his laptop computer. He was always there. I am not sure if there was a Tarp Lady, or any Tarp Kids:

Again, my thanks to the Fort management for the extensive land clearing. The above photo was taken from the other side of the loop, but everybody could keep an eye on Tarp Man.

Tarp Man is a very good friend of mine. His name is Randy. He does actually get out to the parks, but rarely before noon.

The next photo is Boat Man. Boat Man hauled his Boat from somewhere, and kept it at his site all weekend. Since all the trees are being cut down, there is plenty of space for this type of thing.

Boat Man was there before I arrived and still there when I left, so much longer than a weekend.

boat man was still there when we left on Monday.....

Hey, if he's a friend of yours, then he can't be all bad. The guy just likes his tarps a little too much. That's all I'm saying.

You would think boat man might like to get that boat out on the water somewhere? :confused3

I've seen use their boats as enclosed trailers before, to store and haul all their camping gear. Do you think that's what he was doing?

I was going to ask you if that was Randy B. and if he had his monorail set-up this trip. If I recall correctly, he had a trip a few years back where he came back to his tent to find it flooded, can't remember if the monorail was set-up then but it was a holy mess. I've considered doing the overlapping tarps before, luckily our trips were mostly in the winter so it's not that big of a concern.

Yes, that was Randy B. and no, he hasn't had his monorail set-up for a few years now. That year his campsite flooded was awful. So much of his set-up was ruined. But since then, it has grown bigger and better....he just doesn't bring it to WDW anymore. He has it all set up in his apartment and enjoys it year round.:yay:

Yea, I've heard of this before, could be that's what they were doing. Then again, you never know, maybe his kids don't like sleeping in tents ;)

Thanks for sharing all of the great pictures! I can't wait to go back! :goodvibes

So, I saved some of my favorite photos for you.

My favorite loop to visit is the 2000 loop. This is the larger of the two partial hook-up (i.e. tent) loops, and you really never know what you will see here.

LOL! I told Randy that he was now dubbed Tarp Man on the FW forum of the DIS boards and he gave me permission to post his reply to me, here:

Gee, I feel so famous. Tarp Man....Do I get a mask and cape?

(50's announcer voice) Tarp Man! A visitor from a far off reality who
battles for truth, justice and the ability to keep sun and rain off
your head! :)

If you want to, you who post over there on Dis can let them know that
most of the time when I was "just sitting there" I was deep into
processing and editing a few of the thousands of photos I took. I
could only hit the parks for about 3 to 5 hours a day and then would
have to take a couple of days to process the resulting photos. I
actually spent too much time in the parks as it was, as I am still
processing images as I type this (two seperate computers running) and
have almost gotten to the half way point. But I have some absolutely
beautiful panoramas.

And tell them that there is no tarp woman, or tarp kids and I am very
friendly. So if they see me there again, stop by to say hi. I love to
meet new people. :) (and I promise to leave my axe murderer gear
packed away). ;)

..................................................

Me again....Randy can do some fantastic things with photos. During our RADP Splash Mountain Meet, he buys all the photos with RADPers in them and puts us all together in one HUGE, LONG log. That can be a pretty long log when you have close to 40 people at your meet. My old computer died and I lost some of my photos but I'll see if I can dig up one of those custom made Splash log photos.

Ok this is a great thread. I will be watching it to see whats new. Thanks for posting your pics. Great spying. Im glad to see the 1300 loops can now accomidate larger units. I like that loop. We shayed in it in 1996 backing onto the river. We had our popup then now a Hybrid. Maybe we will get licky when we can tow down next and get in the same area. When were there in May they were just finishing up the loops in that area. They were cleared out pretty good then. Hopefully they will grow in soon.
